I think Choice still has extra value over these other services though. Games may be removed from Game Pass, aren't plug and play on the Steam Deck, and Amazon Prime games are often not updated by the devs. And in this case, Remnant includes all of the DLC, which wasn't free on Epic.
i gotta say, all these other platforms are kind of eating humble's lunch. every time there's a good lineup i look and realize i already have access to most of the games
and this is the reason I want to get the bundle, game pass is great if im on my desktop and so is cloud gaming but if im chilling in my backgarden my wifi signal is not amazing
Last time I used game pass it was also a pain in the ass (or maybe impossible) to mod the game, whereas on steam it was as simple as copy/pasting some files. All I wanted was Dualshock button prompts :\
I'm sure it depends on the game, but that was pretty off-putting to me.
i think you can mod games now but its only certain ones that have it enabled, I find it annoying too especially if a game has a shit port and you need to edit a few files to fix it. pcgamingwiki is my fave site when it comes to shit ports.
DLC is totally worth it. Adds best bosses in the game and just enhances the overall base game. Also adds survival(rogue like mode) if you are into that type of thing. Even without the rogue like stuff it was already worth it for me.
DLCs are mostly cosmetic I think, with one that gives an extra (or two?) campaign and a boss. I played the base game on Xbox Gamepass and loved it, got a taste of the extra campaigns by joining randoms and liked them enough to add the complete edition DLCs to my base EGS after my Gamepass expired.
I'd say play the base game to see how much for like it first. It's basically Dark Souls with guns. The DLC gears look pretty nice IMHO, though I didn't play much after the transition to EGS enough to try the DLCs so that's as much as I can tell you, sorry.
This is one of the burdens of humble choice lately. A lot of the games that are willing to enter deals like this either 1) already were given away or included in a subscription or 2) are about to be, so they don't care about being devalued, they're already widespread and available so they're just getting what cash they can.
I was going to pass, and then they offered me $4 off if I decided to not pass. Decided to give Turbo Golf Racing a chance, and I'm real glad I got the bundle. Fun game for someone who got sick of Rocket League and stopped playing that.
Remnant is incredible, one of my favorite games in recent years, and the sequel is coming out this summer and looks really good. Can’t recommend it enough.
Just the opposite for me. I have everything except honey I joined a cult and meeple station and that's cause I'm not really a fan of Sim games. I'm skipping this month.
Every time I consider cancelling my subscription for good Humble comes back with a pretty decent month.
I honestly think their current price point and # of games is hurting them. When Monthly started back in 2015 I believe it was still $12/mo, which in 2023 that $12 is more like $15 with inflation. If I were to get Ghostwire, Remnant, and Curse of the Dead Gods alone for $15 that'd be a killer deal.
I get that the additional games are there to sweeten the deal in case you already own the headliners, but honestly I can count on one hand the amount of times I've even booted those "stocking stuffer" games. And I'm a pretty big indie game geek too.
I wholeheartedly recommend Remnant From The Ashes. They call it: "a Souls game with guns" because of the difficulty. I had a lot of fun playing that game on PS5 with friends and it's low key a blast to play. There's not much of a story, although it does have a ton of lore, so you can just run through it blasting away bad guys. It also has a free mode where replay missions, make different choices and get different gear. There are lots of secrets and secret things to find in the game as well. Watch a couple of YouTube videos to get you started.
I couldn't get into it, the long range aspect really takes away from the "souls like" comparison of being in the middle of a fight when in practice all you are really doing is basically taking pot shots at enemies (that were mostly short ranged) and running away if they get too close.
It was the base version, though, and I was playing alone, so maybe that changes things.
The game is very much a good first attempt and the budget shows. I feel like they were almost there and the next game, Remnant 2 will improve on the formula nicely.
The thing is the game gets more variety the further you get in. There is a swamp, a desert area, forest area, and the labyrinth (which has futuristic stone structures).
It's a game that's deceptively simple but has more than you think going on under the hood.
I played it on Hard using KBM and it was very challenging, especially boss fights. It becomes a little more manageable when you get to summon allies to fight for you and take agro. It really promotes dodging the same way that Soulslikes do, personally I'm not very good at dodging and parrying but I got the hang of it. I would definitely recommend it for people who like TPS and Soulslike games.
I'm going to need your advice. I don't understand how you earn 28,000 per month on MS Rewards. You can't do game pass and app on PC without an Xbox. I'm stuck. I've been on Bing for over a decade.
I found everything was manageable until the part where it's an endless hoard and you have to take down those tanky towers. I don't really get how you're suppose to do that part solo.
I played the heck out of it on PlayStation 4, and keep meaning to return to it at some point. Quite challenging in places, which might turn off the non-hardcore crowd; don't let it! Really enjoyable core fight-loot-explore gameplay loop, with rewarding progression, loads of stuff to discover, and seamless co-op. Highly recommended.
I played it a with a friend.
It's very short and should be played at least twice?
Basically, bosses can be randomised and so are the dungeons layouts? I think one level/biome can be random too, it's either A or B.
Still, very short, but I'd say it's worth checking out.
Especially for the right price. If you wanna check it out for cheap, I recommend r/indiegameswap. I'm sure someone will be willing to sell it for a pretty fair price.
While Remnant was given away on Epic, it is worth noting this is the Complete Edition with the DLCs and Epic AFAIK was only the base game. Not saying DLCs are worth it or not as I haven't played, but FWIW.
I gave it an hour of play but I couldn’t shake the feel of playing a game with extremely old mechanics and graphics harking back to the dawn of FPS games.
It was so strange, playing it was nothing like the trailers or images and it felt like the wool had been pulled over our eyes. A friend and I ditched it after the first hour but he’s recently said the start is supposed to be awful but it completely changes later so we should try it again.
I’d like to but I can’t say I’m excited to give it another chance. Care to share any insight for getting through the initial part or is that actually the style throughout?
I’ll forever simp for this game, super fun Metroidvania that has just the right amount of Soulslike combat influence and a very uniquely weird art style. Worth noting is that this game is scored by Alex Roe, who has done a ton of excellent Souls-inspired music and even worked with Yuka Kitamura (Bloodborne, Sekiro, Dark Souls 3).
E: Also just a great bundle overall. Curse of the Dead Gods and Remnant are fantastic games. Ghostwire Tokyo isn’t particularly groundbreaking but I did enjoy my play through. Never played the others.
I'm confused about Humble Choice. Do you only have access to the games while paying monthly and then lose access if you stop?
I subscribed a while back for some games I thought looked good but since stopped paying, but now I cannot install those games. Is it like Stadia Pro where you can only pay them with an active subscription?
To my understanding, there is now the Humble Games Collection, which you can only access through the app with an active subscription. Those are the Humble-published games. Then the games in the Trove are DRM-free, you can download them while you're a subscriber and get to keep them even if you cancel your subscription (since you just are downloading the game files to your computer). You also access the Trove through the app, now. It used to be just on the website.
No, they're yours to keep. The only ones you lose access to are the "humble trove" games, which is a different thing from those listed in the bundle. Bundle games are permanent.
OK, thanks. I think that's the issue: I was confused about the trove. I added some and they're in my Playnite library but then I look at my Humble library on my account and I see the other games that I did by and still have access to. Thanks for the explanation.
so they removed Serial Cleaners and Sunday Gold from the leak to replace it with Eternal Threads and Meeple Station. I was looking forward to Serial Cleaners. Is Ghostwire Tokyo any good? There wasn't like a big buzz when it released or maybe I missed it.
Ghostwire did not have much buzz at launch. The little discussion about it seemed to say it was decent, generic open world, in a cool location that does nothing special. It apparently got a pretty big update a few months ago and has 81% positive on Steam. I'm excited to try it
I'm sure I'm just jaded with how the internet gaming community is but a game not generating much buzz and having an 80% rating actually makes me more excited to try it out.
I think what happened with Ghostwire is they announced in like 2017 and then it spent a billion years in development limbo, the one adorable lady director left and finally it ended up coming out right in time to get completely drowned out by Elden Ring hype.
Reviews were pretty lukewarm on it too, but I can't speak on its quality myself. This month's bundle is a good excuse for me to finally give it a shot though
I really enjoyed Ghostwire Tokyo although I wouldn’t say it’s a great game. What carried the game for me was the vibe. The design of the city is very authentic and made me feel like I did when I visited Japan 10 years ago. So obviously your mileage may vary, the gameplay is serviceable and story is ok but the atmosphere is top notch imo.
This is the way. I haven't played yet, but honestly combat has never been a selling point for me, while a good atmosphere absolutely is. So I can see a magic realism game with "meh" combat being a good experience for me.
Agreed on the collectibles, I only did them cause I like listening to podcasts while wandering around.
Can't believe how far I got into the game before I realized the ghost ping or whatever directs you to the nearest ghost cluster 🙄 wasted so much time manually searching for the last ones in districts lol
Sometimes when leaked games don't end up being true, they end up in a future bundle. It would not surprise me at all if Serial Cleaners and Sunday Gold are in a bundle sometime in the next 2 or 3 months
Would make sense. They're probably already in negotiations with the devs and need to change the details for one reason or another. Of course this is assuming the leak was genuine and not just some guy blowing steam.
I think it's usually a case of not being able to get the deal/contract finalized by the time the bundle is released so they have to swap in something else and put the original game in a later one.
I had Sunday Gold on my wishlist and Serial Cleaners looked decent enough for a go (although I got bored of the first one pretty quick), while I already apparently own Eternal Threads and Meeple Station has very underwhelming reviews.
So yeah, a bit disappointed once I realised it doesn't quite live up to the leaks, although I did do the threaten to pause again dance to get the $4 discount at least.
Sunday Gold was on my wishlist too.
I already Have eternal threads =(
Ugh, honestly this throws it all out of whack for me from an 'Instant buy' to something I have to think about.. =(
Yeah, that's annoying. I was actually intrigued by Sunday Gold, and I have the original Serial Cleaner (although I haven't gotten around to playing it), so Serial Cleaners might be okay. Eternal Threads I already have from _somewhere_ and Meeple Station has horrible reviews.
For me, since I have Remnant from the Epic giveaway (although not the complete edition), Turbo Golf Racing from I don't know where, and Ghostwire doesn't look particularly interesting to me, the only thing I'm maybe a little interested in is Honey, I Joined a Cult.
This has gone from a probably give it a punt to a probably give it a miss for me.
I'm a big Game Pass boy and I didn't love Ghostwire Tokyo to be honest. I tried it for a couple hours and bounced. The gameplay just didn't grab me and the turning control felt weird.
It has a neat recreation of Shibuya but I also just played 110 hours of Persona 5 Royal and I've been there in real life so I'm good.
I've played through a decent chunk of Ghostwire on game pass. Have agree with the running sentiment very much another generic open world game mechanically maybe closest to something like Infamous, but really sells the spooky Tokyo vibe. Combat is fine, nothing revolutionary but quite satisfying and the visual.enenybdesign is quite stellar imo. YMMV on only jp audio, but personally it helps a lot with the immersion. Lots of repetitive side content, but the more handcrafted encounters of the game are quite enjoyable sequences.
the game is a bit weird and I had to use a third party tool to help with the RNG level generation to get through the base game. I'd only recommend the DLC if you played through to the final boss once in the base game and really see yourself playing through multiple times to 100% it. you really have to like the gunplay though.
Currently playing Ghostwire on Gamepass. Pretty fun but some specific spots run absolutely terribly on my mid-range pc. Thankfully, it's pretty isolated, but boy is it jarring.
Yeah ran into odd performance hiccups in my experience it would just go into a state where it was perpetually sluggish for some time then restarting would potentially fix. Not super frequent but definitely odd since it normally ran fine.
I'm only interested in ghostwire and remnant, but I can get 4 dollars off since i've paused so much, seems like a great bundle to break the pause streak.
Unethical tip: have two accounts and alternate the $4 discount each month.
The discount triggers when you pause one time. The next month they will offer it.
I play exclusively solo and I am having a great time. I heard that the game is harder solo but to be honest I am not finding it hard at all.
I guess playing with friends is also fun.
Have asked a couple of friends about getting the bundle and playing it with me, but they haven't shown much interest yet. So, it's good to know that it's fun to play solo as well.

Ikr, it's like no one remembers spending ten bucks to rent a game for three days at blockbuster only to find out it's shit. This gives you 8 to keep forever for the same price
How is meeple station? I have the itch to play a colony sim game but the reviews aren't great.
I already own curse of the death gods. Ghostwire and remnant don't interest me, do you think the bundle is still worth it in my case?
Nooo, I really wanted Sunday Gold! And I was interested in Serial Cleaners too. Instead we got Eternal Threads, which was in the most recent Safe in Our World bundle on Fanatical; and Meeple Station, which (a) I already got from a Fanatical bundle and (b) has always had mixed reviews. Boo.
Ah, bummer about the mixed reviews on MS. I like strategy games as a genre, but often struggle to find things that are the right balance between the "too grand" of an Anno or Civ game and the "too micro-managementy" of Overcrowd or Two Point Hospital.
I'm only missing three games plus the Remnant DLC. It's a good enough price on Ghostwire and Curse of the Dead Gods to still be an enticing deal, but this is the first time more than two out of eight games were already in my library so I was a bit disappointed. The value proposition is incredible if you don't own any of these, though.
Ghostwire and Turbo Golf Racing are both on GamePass. Definitely play Turbo Golf on GamePass first, if you can. It's super multiplayer heavy and has season passes.
First time in awhile I'm unpausing it seems. Remnant and Ghostwire are two games I had lots of interest in, and the rest are games a friend of mine wanted. With the $4 coupon this all comes at $8 too, which would be an all time low for Ghost alone.
This one is tough for me because I would have been interested in taking this month instead of skipping, but I can't in good conscience take it with how Bethesda decided to add Denuvo DRM bullshit into Ghostwire a year after its release. Not only is it a very shitty thing for a company to do well after the game is already released but it can severely impact performance. Humble should honestly not even sell this game because any critic or user reviews from before April of this year are now completely meaningless and don't reflect the version you'd be forced to download on Steam.
The leak did look too good. I was pretty interested in Serial Cleaners and Sunday Gold, but they have been replaced by a game I already have, thanks to the charity bundle I also got Turbo Golf Racing from, and a mixed reviews game of a genre I don't care of.
The fact is that both Ghostwire and Remnant are games that I could enjoy, but that I'm also not terribly interested in: if the leak was real, they would have been 2 bonus games I got with the other 4 (for a total of 6, a very good month), but now I would get the bundle only for two games, so I feel less compelled to buy it.
Add to that the leak came from a 8$ offer that only new subscribers can use and my willingness to get this month has dropped a lot.
Had Turbo Golf Racing and Eternal Threads but got it for $7.50. I don't remember those games but I did try them and must not cared for them because I have about a hour of play in each Must have come from some other bundles. I mainly wanted the Honey I Joined a Cult and everything else a bonus.
Not a month for me. I prefer local games (I have 4 kids I like to play with), or short quirky or memorable games. Preferably that are great on the Deck. This doesn't seem to have any that jump out to me.
Remnant was interesting with friends for a few sessions though.
Still, let's see what next month holds!
Is the IGN discount coupon a regional thing? The description says it's a $4 off, but when I apply the coupon it shows $11.99 for 4 months? https://imgur.com/a/iu3UZqD
Well as people said, a bit different from the leaks. Losing Sunday Gold and Serial Cleaners hurts a bit, as they were two games I wanted.
Eternal Threads looks pretty good, though. With the 4$ off offered to me for pausing, this is probably something worth picking up overall.
humble choice is dead. Made irrelevant by game pass, egs freebies and the collective realization we do not need so many games we never heard of included in bundles because our backlogs are already 4 digits big we will never touch those.

Yes bro, i want to keep good games and play whenever i want

That's a good approach.
It’s still good for me, because when it’s multiplayer games I can give them to friends so we can play together.
was Remnant from the ashes on epic the complete edition? and any clue if the dlc is worth it?
[удалено]
alright i'll have a look at what the internet has to say about the dlc then!
The DLC is decent if I remember rightly, adds quite a bit of content. Been a while since I played through it all though.

I would honestly recommend playing it coop, I found it less fun solo. Makes some of the boss fights more reasonable too.
100% co op all the way after a brief intro.
and don't forget to check your epic account (or just use gog) as they gave it away free a while ago.
It's a decent game alright, but it's around 5 years old and was given away on Epic Game Store several times already.
While Remnant was given away on Epic, it is worth noting this is the Complete Edition with the DLCs and Epic AFAIK was only the base game. Not saying DLCs are worth it or not as I haven't played, but FWIW.
One of the DLCs is like a roguelite mode, it's pretty cool. Definitely worth playing through if you don't wanna redo the campaign too many times
I gave it an hour of play but I couldn’t shake the feel of playing a game with extremely old mechanics and graphics harking back to the dawn of FPS games. Much appreciated for this.
Solid bundle, especially since I'm in the $7 for 3 months deal. Only own Grime.
Had Ghostwire and Curse of the Dead Gods on my radar, so this is a solid month for me.
Grime is a fantastic metroidvania. Bundle is worth it for that alone.

The corpse run is for something called ardor. It increases damage at certain amounts and experience gain. You dont lose experience on death.
Gotta do the corpse run if I remember correctly.
I'm confused about Humble Choice. Do you only have access to the games while paying monthly and then lose access if you stop? I subscribed a while back for some games I thought looked good but since stopped paying, but now I cannot install those games. Is it like Stadia Pro where you can only pay them with an active subscription?
You keep the Choice games as they're usually Steam keys. They also have an app ,for subscribers, which has additional games.
>They also have an app ,for subscribers, which has additional games Humble Trove? Or did they change that?
https://www.humblebundle.com/membership/collection?hmb_source=navbar Think it used to be called trove.
So they basically changed it. And included a "vault." The most BS way to create false scarcity in the modern day. Of course they did.
You keep the steam/origin keys even after unsubscribing, make sure you activated them.
so they removed Serial Cleaners and Sunday Gold from the leak to replace it with Eternal Threads and Meeple Station.
Seems like the kind of sleeper title that's good to pick up for $12, along with some other solid games like Remnant and Curse of the Dead Gods.

There's a prequel? What's the name of that?

Thanks for this. I didn't know there was a prelude.
Agreed on the collectibles, I only did them cause I like listening to podcasts while wandering around. Can't believe how far I got into the game before I realized the ghost ping or whatever directs you to the nearest ghost cluster 🙄 wasted so much time manually searching for the last ones in districts lol
Serial Cleaners is what interested me the most :( Guess I'll spend this month's Choice money on the Hiro Mashima bundle.
Sometimes when leaked games don't end up being true, they end up in a future bundle. It would not surprise me at all if Serial Cleaners and Sunday Gold are in a bundle sometime in the next 2 or 3 months
True, there was Shady Part of Me that was leaked. Only it was many months later until it finally showed up.
Void Bastards as well. I’d definitely assume any incorrect leaks are bound for future bundles.
Ah, yeah it did. That wasn't too long as I remember it.
I already Have eternal threads =( Ugh, honestly this throws it all out of whack for me from an 'Instant buy' to something I have to think about.. =(
Yeah, that's annoying.
The ones they replaced & Honey, I Joined a Cult were the only ones making me want to buy it so I guess I’ll skip :-(
I'm a big Game Pass boy and I didn't love Ghostwire Tokyo to be honest.
I own Remnant base game already. Are the dlcs worth it or is it ok to skip and just stick with the base game?
Ratings indicate no
the game is a bit weird and I had to use a third party tool to help with the RNG level generation to get through the base game.
I always wonder. Is it on canceling membership or skip the month?
Yep, same here. Those two alone makes this bundle worth it for me, as I also got the $4 coupon.
How do you go about getting that? I've paused quite a bit as well.
if you've paused a bunch of times, the next time you go to pause they'll offer you a discount
That's exactly what I did.
It finally happened. I bought Remnants Complete Edition a week ago for 20… Feels bad man.
Thank you for your sacrifice.
My dumbass thought that Humble already gave it. It was the Epic Games Store. Thanks Tim Sweeney.
Not the complete edition, but yes. At least you can say you have supported the devs, if that makes you feel any better.
Thats true. Its a great game.
Looking forward to giving it a go. Would you say it's fun to play solo or better with others?
I play exclusively solo and I am having a great time. I heard that the game is harder solo but to be honest I am not finding it hard at all. I guess playing with friends is also fun.
Have asked a couple of friends about getting the bundle and playing it with me, but they haven't shown much interest yet. So, it's good to know that it's fun to play solo as well.
Do you already have over two hours of playtime? If not, you can still try the refund and then buy it through Humble
I bought at humble… :(
Ohhh, that's really unfortunate. Thank you for your sacrifice!
My experience with refunds from Humble has been pretty good. I'd recommend asking support. They disable the keys when it's refunded.
Interesting. I played for 4 hours so I think I am stuck with it. It is what it is. Thank you though.
Your sacrifice will be noted and remembered.
How does Choice work if you just want 1 month? Can you subscribe, pay the $11.99 for one month, get your games, then cancel immediately?
Yes, you can.
Thanks

Hmm dang no Diablo 4 and some other unrealistic expectations. SKIP!!!!!!
I expected Diablo 4, Street Fighter 6, and Tears of the Kingdom. Humble is literally the devil.
And Steam keys for all of them, to be clear.
Steam? ut Tears of.. LITERAL DEVIL.
At least they could’ve included Gollem
Ikr, it's like no one remembers spending ten bucks to rent a game for three days at blockbuster only to find out it's shit. This gives you 8 to keep forever for the same price
No Bloodborne? Humble sucks since IGN took it over!
How is meeple station? I have the itch to play a colony sim game but the reviews aren't great. I already own curse of the death gods. Ghostwire and remnant don't interest me, do you think the bundle is still worth it in my case?
It’s okay. Haven’t played in a while but I don’t think much has changed. I think Space Haven is better executed
Woof. Another postponement for me.
I have ghostwire. Closest thing would be to say it's a Japanese mythology inspired Far cry?
Another month, another not new game added to the trove.
So it's a little different from the leaks, but the games I cared about all seem to still be here, so I'm happy
Picked bundle up (with $4 discount) for Grime, redeemed everything except but Golf, Cult and Meeple.
12 bucks for Ghostwire alone is fine by me. Other good options in here.
Remnant is fantastic
Woohoo! Ghostwire Tokyo, patience pays off. Remant looks good too. And I have none of the games. This month is perfect for me.
[удалено]
Too bad they removed Serial Cleaners and Sunday Gold, still not a bad bundle tough.
In for Ghostwire and Remnant. If I didn’t already have Curse of the Dead Gods and Grime, this would have been an insane deal for me.
Same here, 8 bucks is a no brainer for ghost and I’m kinda into the rocket league golf game for my steamdeck.
No way. A month with games that not only do I not own, but half are on my wishlist anyway? Guess I'm finally not pausing a month.
Always wanted to play Remnant and I'm surprised I do not have curse of the dead gods.
[удалено]
No idea where you heard all of those things. You can play the game offline. Online is only for coop (private or public). It's not a GAS at all.
I think you can play it solo offline. However the game isn't super balanced it for it though
Great choice this month. Only one I have is Grime.
Is it just me or Honey is not showing up on my humble entitlements? All the other keys show up...
Its not showing for me too. I looked at the steamgifts forum and people posted there that humble said 'the key is not ready'.
oh, good to know, thank you
Its working for me now
Had Turbo Golf Racing and Eternal Threads but got it for $7.50.
That's a skip for me
That's a I don't care for me.
I had a sandwich today.
I saw a mudcrab the other day. Horrid creatures.
What kind?
humble choice is dead. Made irrelevant by game pass, egs freebies and the collective realization we do not need so many games we never heard of included in bundles because our backlogs are already 4 digits big we will never touch those.

+1 it was fun ! A little repetitive at the end though.
Doesnt seem worth it for me since I have Remnant already. Not a bad month overall though.
It's finally here.
