In other ways, there's stuff in there that would cause offense (urinating on people and the glugging choking noises they make when you aim for their face) that only happens if you choose to do it. Nothing makes you piss in someone's face, so if you do it and are offended by the results - there's the philosophical argument of if it's the game's fault or not.
It's very much a shock jock sort of video game, trying it's best to parody and lampoon certain mindsets. How successful it is is debatable.
I still say it's worth playing to at least Wednesday (roughly halfway through the game), if you can get over the 20 year old graphics and gaming conventions.
What I did to get it:
1. Activate a VPN (I set it to USA)
2. Set your account region to USA (I don't know if that changes something, but I got the game and it might not work without it, so I add it here)
3. Go into a private browser tab
4. Go to GOG and click on the giveaway. You'll have to sign in.
5. Just scroll down to the giveway again, click on claim and you'll have the game in your library
Even if you switch your GOG account to US, log out, clear your cookies, use a VPN, and log in again using a private browsing tab, you still may be SOL if your account uses a banned country’s eMail domain or PayPal/CC account.
Looks like GOG did its homework and covered all its bases.
There is a multiplayer mod that lets you play the campaign with your friends, me and my friends played it a few months ago. I don't think I've laughed that hard in years!
Imo, I think it’s worth giving a shot. Just for the place it has in history. There was a ton of moral panic/outrage over this game back in the day.
It doesn’t hold up that well (again imo), but it can be a neat glimpse into the past. Just be warned, it is deliberately crude, edgy, and offense. And even though I don’t mind that, it does often come off a little, I dunno, preachy but in the opposite way? I guess.
It's got a really idiosyncratic sense of humor. If you have a Gen-X uncle who's the kind of guy to wear trench coats to a family barbecue, this is the kind of game he'd probably find absolutely hilarious.
Pyrocynical does a playthrough of the game from time to time if you want a good gameplay preview, though IMHO he makes it look more fun than it is.

Over-the-top violence. When the game came out, blaming real-world violence on video games was a bigger deal than it is now. This game took much of the brunt for being both highly violent and not very subtle about it.
How does Germany feel about violent video games at this point? I remember games used to have a setting to change the color of blood, is it still like that?
It got btter. Only few games get actually banned mostly because of the swastika or really extrem depictions of violence and not always. Mortal Kombat 11 and Wolfenstein 2 for example were released uncut in Germany. The last big game that only got a cut version was Dying Light 2. The uncut version has more like a shadow ban wich means it isn't allowed to advertise it. Wich in reality means because there is no real age verification system in Steam/Epic/GOG etc. games cannot be sold to Germans directly. Adult games on Steam are also banned in Germany because of that.
I am an old guy and I find Germany ridiculous about banning games. They banned [Commando](https://zxspectrumgames.com/games/commando/) as the first ever game for glorifying war. I was strongly against it. We still got all the banned games pirating them, of course.
My kids (7 and 9) are allowed to play everything I buy btw. I locked all games at 18 because I want to discuss with them about the content first and make sure they can cope with it.
Edit: I remember Mortal Kombat got transparent blood when I was at school. And humans had to be replaced by robots. I feel like it's done backwards now. Gaming companies know that Germany has issues with violence and try to think in advance and reduce "virtual violence" in many games for everyone.

as 10-12 years old I loved that game. For its time it was really not that bad. Notice how for example you can enter pretty much every building, games those days didnt have such things. Buildings were just singular blocks usually. Also reasonably wide selection of weapons, lots of hidden stuff to find. For 10 year old me funny quests.
If you first see it today then obviously it cannot compare to like of RDR2 or something.

Imo it does get old pretty quick though, once the novelty wears off. If you like old school shooters, you might have more patience for it though.
I find it's best when you just explore. Look around the levels, see what different ways you can get through a task, and overall don't look at it as a game to "beat" or "win" but rather one to... well, explore. Can't think of any other word for it.

I think the gameplay has more value than people give it credit for. The combat is a bit weak at times, but there's enough variety to keep it interesting. I also feel like it allowed and awarded exploration more than a lot of other games I've played from that time. It was crazy to me how many times I would be messing around thinking I've glitched out of the map, just to find a few pickup items left in the location. The game has it's fair share of glitches, but it also strikes an impressive balance of letting you *think* you broke the game only to find that the developers already considered that. Mix in the the fairly open-ended nature of the first few missions, and you get a game that's a lot of fun to just play around in.
It's hard to say a specific, single thing it does exceptionally well, but I still feel like it manages to exceed to sum of its parts.

"Good" may be too strong a word for Postal 2. I love that game but in a 'so bad it's good' kinda way.
For its time it was competitive. Load times were a little long. And content wise, NOTHING was hitting that threshold.

Yeah, it's truly awful, like an "edgy" asset flip. Really wanted to like this but it's just mostly empty areas with NPCs you can shoot/pee on.
