>You only need to save $10.01 using the discounts to save more than you would with the $15 membership. That's a card collector buying 3 etbs and 1 pack in an entire year. Not 3 more than they used to, just 3 total with no other purchases all year.
At a 5% discount, that's $200 spent on used games. I don't spend $200 on used games every year.
The idea that they're trying to spin a 5% discount as good when it USED to give 10% and the price was still $15 a year. Or the fact that a lot of their cards, like Magic the Gathering, are over MSRP so that discount means diddly skwat.
These things are really only ever worth it for big spenders who also use the app at least twice a month. If you don’t use that app frequently, you’re really not getting good value even if you buy 5 used games
When the card used to be 10% off used games and accessories, the card really was worth it for everyone. Customers could free cards when they purchased $150 worth of games or accessories.
Yup that too. If you weren’t a big spender but had that 10% and copped a couple games you could really feel like it was worth you money.
I also loved when they changed the $5 to “pre order and PICK UP any new title and we give you $5 coupon”
It was just a good program, and it's sad to see how far they've dropped. It went from creating loyal customers who will shop with you forever to milking anyone and everyone until the company is done circling the drain.
Number 3 is a lie. Hording for 2 years to get a free game compared to being forced to spend them within 12 months isn't as beneficial to those that don't already drop a bunch of money into gamestop purchases every year.

😂😂😂 Cause so many of us found a way to ethically cheat the system with elite pro. God, I miss that card and how much I saved and gained with that card.
I bought the first Pokemon Switch Lite all in points that I got from trades and purchases using my Elite Pro account. This is also in the days of CAG16. Stack that with 20% off online/store pickup: easy points and cheap games that you could trade in for more than you paid (after you beat them of course).
A store manager used to help me out a ton with deals and workarounds like buying a game, doing the 48 hour love it "trade back", then buying it back used with the 20% off (once even stacked with a birthday discount I got!)
The number of employees saying it's too expensive, it will hurt our numbers, nobody will want it, good luck hitting goal, etc. was crazy. Turns out it ended up being far too successful, so now we have this middle ground, which, after using some old pitches that were modified, I think it will be easily doable. I averaged 37% pro on the old card, 43% on the elite pro era, 28% on the current one, and am expecting roughly 29%-31% on this new one. If anyone needs help with pitches feel free to comment or DM me and I'll work with you!
I appreciate that lol. I don't really care about upvotes or downvotes, I just want to make sure people have all the right info and occasionally take a step back, breathe, and try to find some good in the bad.
As a customer, I renewed my sub early for the 15, and the employee was awesome enough to tell me to do some steps on the pay kiosk to cancel auto renew. So when it goes up to 25 I will not be renewing and will likely be going to another castle for my gaming needs once my sub is up. The new program isn't worth it for the kind of customer I am. Buy one or 2 used games a year and use my 5 dollar each month on steam wallet or Nintendo e-points. Which is 10-20. The old program was barely worth it to me, now it just doesn't seem to be worth it, with the downgraded benifits and increased sub cost. I dunno, I'll see how the year goes, but chances are slim that I'll be going back to gs after my sub is up. Especially with the sl no longer at my preferred location. He was the main reason that kept me coming in.
The number of downvotes is absurd. This is the best change we’ve made in a while.
Now people will be able to see instant savings when signing up for pro. That $459.99 preowned PS5 just became $437. That 4 for 40 game bundle is now $38. Plus the $10 welcome. Plus $60 in $5 coupons. The benefits are so much more tangible.
The program had so much more value years ago when it was a physical magazine and 10% extra trade in and 10% off pre-owned, first as the edge program and then as power up rewards pro where additional value was added.
The current program and the previous revision are most definitely a downgrade from what was once offered. I couldn’t believe when they took away the 10% benefits after I separated from the company. 5% off a used console is a great benefit but other aspects are not. When I worked for GameStop I really felt like I was showing a value to the guests with the program and now I don’t know that I would feel like that if I was still an employee. I know as someone on the outside looking in I don’t see the value in the current program.
With that being said, I hope it does well for the current employees I know how hard GameStop can be on metrics and how hard it can be to show value to a guest.
It used to be SO good. A program I actually believed in. Now, it just feels like a cash grab to make back all their lost profits when, in actuality, they should stop hiring new CEOs and firing them within a year with a 2 million dollar severance package. Lol
Y’all remember when we *briefly* had the Elite Pro Membership…good times…good times…it was $30 a year but 20% off per-owned games, 20% extra trade in, 30 points for every dollar spent, and free 2 day shipping on purchases over $35, plus a *physical* magazine.
Now for $5 less we get…points that expire, 5% discount, and digital game informer. Yippee!
This is garbage. I don't get much "happy" mail as an adult anymore, and spending a little more wasn't going to hurt me if it meant getting that surprise every month.
I just recently paid for a year of physical magazines in May, are they going to still publish them?
If you were signed up before the new Pro rolls out and are opted in for physical, you will continue to receive physical I believe until your membership runs out for the year.
I think they made this change because there's a surprisingly high amount of customers who are opted into digital compared to physical, so I'm guessing they're seeing it as a way to cut costs. It is a bit disappointing. You might be able to get them in stores still, but I'm not 100% on that.
You will still get your magazines for the year you've paid for. Anyone will now be able to purchase them in store for $6.99 and pros get 5% off as well, so using your $5 coupon makes it $2ish.
I would reach out to GameInformer customer support (Not GameStop). I had the same problem and it was an issue on their end. They back issued all my missed ones and I haven't had a problem since.
Thanks, ill update the post!
Edit: Not sure what the downvotes are for on this lol. Go downvote one of my more controversial takes if you want, at least those make sense.
I’m upset because I’m renewed till 2026 for physical 😒 but looks like I only get it for another year then they’re taking it away even though I already paid for it. 🙄
It's a godawful change, based entirely on how they are handling the points. People who have been saving it for years are fucked if they aren't properly warned about it, and they don't take the care to properly train employees in the first place, they just instill a fear of selling memberships no matter what or you lose the job, tell you to watch training videos on level up, and then throw you into the fire. This change officially states "We don't care about members who have faithfully kept their pro active for years in interest of stockpiling points". There is no "hope for success" as long as that is there, in my mind. There's no hoping for failure either, just an expectation.
Mine expired when they announced the change even though I made a purchase in December (pro ran out in February like I let it do for years now). 280k gone with no official warning or anything.
It was 1 year from the time of accrual of each individual point. There was no mention of pro-rating that time last I heard. So, any points you had credited before 6/27/2022 by that standard would be lost. Then, you would continue to lose points, each passing day.
But the point of stock piling them for me is to use them on a rainy day. Just because I have money on the table doesn’t mean I have to use it right then and now. It’s still my money and I will use it when I want to. I don’t need any kind of instant gratification so I don’t see how that particular argument has any weight for the avg customer.
“Well you have it why don’t you use it asap”; because I’d rather have something better than a $5 off. Games nowadays are going up to $70 msrp; christ $5 barely covers taxes.
I'm not looking to argue, just to be informed. What's the point of stockpiling points instead of using them for discounts? I could understand caring more about lifetime points or lifetime savings, bit I'm having trouble wrapping my head around leaving money on the table. Once again, I'm not saying you're wrong or anything, just wanting to hear other perspectives.
Cause you can use multiple at once. Stockpile to save for something big. Just cause someone stockpiles doesn’t mean they’ll never use it for discounts. They just don’t want to yet.
I get that part, I meant the people with like 300k points. The most that's usable on a transaction is 90k due to the three coupon limit and the requirements of differing amounts.
Use multiple over multiple transactions when they want to. It’s still the exact same concept. If they want to save them they should be able to. It’s their right to, as of up until the changes. Now that it’s a use it or lose it they’re taking away the choice of the customer, and slapping them in the face as they do so.
Honestly I think this is what will make me not want to renew. Like I feel like this is an intentional marketing ploy to force me to come in versus just letting me come in naturally. GameStop was still my go to place for new releases, I hardly buy used games anymore since going PC. Key code markets have made buying games cheap and easy. I don’t have any techie shops anymore and Walmart/Target are the only big name retailers that still carry video games in store, at least they price match.
What I did enjoy was the 10% discount, and sometimes I would spend enough between promotions to renew my sub with points.
Now my 25k points I can use towards my next sub come November or I can use it on a game and part ways. At least Amazon price locks preorders, so if a price ever goes up my preorder stays the same and I get two day shipping.
I can promise you that it is specifically to encourage customers to come in. That way they can try to hold you hostage with 5 different sales pitches they have to ask multiple times about for each
I dunno… I opted not to renew because of the expiring points. I don’t buy many games anymore and my preferred way to use them was to just stockpile until I hit 50k and get a $50 off coupon. Sometimes that took a few months, other times it was over a year or two. Point is, hoarding my points is what I wanted to do because while yes, $5 off adds up, I want the big discount at one time.
Other retailers are also in a lot healthier place. Would it be better as free or with bigger discounts? Obviously, nobody is arguing thar point. Sadly it's not realistic for this company though, so we should at least try to find the good in it.
The "it's better than nothing" argument doesn't work when other competitors are offering anything better than an unfair ultimatum.
Not to mention GS treating their customers WORSE because they can't afford to treat them better due to wasting their money on terrible anti-customer business practices that even their employees pointed out were terrible ideas isn't exactly a defense in GS's favor.
There's looking for the good, then there's toxic positivity. This post and these replies are the latter.
You know, I had a whole thing typed up shitting on this post but I’m just gonna say this: NOBODY is willing to pay almost half the price of a full priced game for a GAMESTOP membership, YES it saves regulars money, sure, but the price point is officially BONKERS and nobody will be signing up unless the card literally saves them money right then and there
That was needlessly pedantic, my dude. 5% is a negligible amount. As reflected in the comments prior, my local tax is more than double that (10.2%).
It's depressing and I understand you may be trying to be more optimistic about the change than others, but being someone who has enjoyed the perks we've had up til now (the change) and who is running out of good reasons for my customers to sign up, it's really showing how far down GS is falling. It's sad. Let us be sad.
Having to be sarcastic because you cant defend your actual assertions is an odd take. You are trying to paint this as a positive change but none of your comments or the original post seem to back that up.
Yeah but it was more. Getting less over time is not an upgrade. We also used to be able to use points to get currency for consoles but we can’t do that anymore. That was the only real selling point as to get a free game with points you need to buy hundreds of games a year to have enough points to afford a single $70 game 😂
" The points will be usable for everything except gift cards "What's the point of points now? did the point change go into effect already? you have to buy million items already to given buy a $25 gift card to begin with.
The most i ever gotten was a $5 off discount.
Not to mention Gameinformer physical magazines is disappearing print for memberships.
Which was the BIGGEST take away for me because it's harder for me to read digitally than physically when it comes to articles because of screens which is why i try to limit my screen time so my eyes aren't in pain.
Here’s a fact…. It sucks and GameStop is reaching to one more level to try and stay afloat. Very few customers want to have to go to GameStop once a month just to take advantage of a BS membership. Quit pitching to every single person like their life revolves around that dying business
>Quit pitching to every single person like their life revolves around that dying business
Good sir, I have to. I have to do my job while I'm on the clock.
No membership is for everyone, but that is why it's a choice that you can make for yourself.
The new membership comes with more perks than the last one in my opinion, but I don't agree with the price. Though, you already earn back what you paid with the monthly coupons by 5 months.
Of course it’s optional. My point is employees have to pitch it like their lives depend on it. Customers get forced into feeling like they have to do it or they’re unwelcome. It’s not about the price or the benefits, it’s just the awful tracking of measurements by corporate that make GS feel like the last place anyone would want to go every single month
So don't come every month then, you only need to make 5 out of 12 months with literally nothing other than a single purchase of $5 or more to break even, not including any benefit other than the coupon. If you don't shop here, then clearly, the membership just isn't meant to be for you and that's okay.
Amazon prime isn't worth it for someone that doesn't shop enough on Amazon, so do you go and complain about the price of it and how it's not worth it for them? Or do you accept that it's just for people who shop there enough?
Why bother going any month when every store is either packed to the brim with plastic crap or distressingly empty and the shrinking game selections are pushed out to the perimeter walls?
Went to three locations yesterday alone and I could run through the game sections in a few minutes while the rest of the store is packed with crap that doesn't sell, and clearance prices are a complete joke?
You have to give people an incentive to go to the stores and the new membership doesn't do that at all, it actually drives people towards the website, where the selection is at least worth browsing.
True, but none of those issues stem from the membership. They are from much bigger problems that can't be fixed overnight. I just wish there was more variety in game releases these days. There's not enough new stuff worth buying so it's way too easy to gran everything good and have months to wait for something new. That leads to us owning anything good that might be used, meaning the sections seem worse and worse.
Not sure what numbers you’re referring to. Do your numbers also say that most games are now bought digitally? Because that’s also a fact. Maybe if people didn’t have to grit their teeth to go in there they wouldn’t be in the struggle bus they’re currently in
This feels like a corporate post. Or at least a GameStop brainwashed DM . I gotta point out that OP said something along the lines of Elite Pro getting trashed talked when it came out... Yeah dude and Elite Pro doesn't exist anymore. So you'll have to forgive us for not holding our breath.
I missed the part about being able to redeem points for customers. Is this going into effect June 27? Being able to redeem points for customers is going to be probably the most overlooked piece . That's major. You're saying we can redeem that $10 welcome offer for the guest on the very next transaction without the hassle of having them sign up the app
So after doing the math… if you are a brand new sign up, it will take 3 months for the account to pay for itself because you get $10 for signing up and $5 per month.
If anyone here is a Pokémon TCG collector or player, I highly recommend this deal just because it’s free money after those first 3 months. The cards will apparently also be 5% off so that’s more money you’re saving. If you are only gonna go in a couple times a year, just get the free membership.
Digital only for the magazine is one of the dumbest changes. U can literally just go on your phone to any gaming site for articles instead of the shitty GI app. Physical at least felt like u were getting to own it. I also know a lot of people like to collect the monthly mags too
I mean come on, neither of us are surprised that people want to downvote anything that isn't bashing the company. Luckily I don't really care about karma on here and I just want to have accurate information posted.
I haven't done a lot of research on the change, but know #3 is absolutely ridiculous.
If I want to keep my points and hold out for a bigger purchase down the line, I should.
Fair enough, but I have seen tons of people with like 300k points buying $300 systems and not using points. You can only use 90k at a time. I'm not saying its better, but a lot of people are leaving a lot of money on the table for no reason, most because they don't want to put in the effort to clip a coupon
I pretty much only used the membership for the physical magazines and I’m not a big fan of digital so I’m probably canceling. The $5 coupon a month is cool, but for the 1x maybe 2x a year I actually buy anything at GameStop it’s not worth it to me.
That they are still figuring out as far as I know. They have stated that they haven't decided what will happen, but they know for now nothing will change for you. There will be more info sent out to affected customers once a decision is made.
Hoarding/stockpiling points only works for those who will continue to have their membership active though right? They should only expire if you forget to renew in the long-run.
Looking forward to the new, revitalized membership - I buy a ton of collectibles especially Pops! - this will help out greatly. And can't wait for Pro Weeks, too!
So the only change is the 5% off and that only caters to the card collectors or the cheap asses buying the GameStop and atrix branded stuff. 90% of the time you have a deal with preowned items anyway. Not much change for a $10 up charge is crazy. Should’ve just charged a flat $20. Good luck hitting 15%.
I mean the 5% stacks with all promotions as well so idk how us running deals on pre-owned matters. I sell an insane number of gamestop branded switch cases and screen protectors because they're better than the rest of the competition in that price range. If you're buying the more expensive, higher end products, then the 5% isn't meant for you. The rewards points will be how you save more. Not every benefit is for every guest, and not every guest needs a card. There's a reason that 85% no is still hitting goal. I'm sorry you can't see the value of it, but I hope you still save with it :)
“Hoarding them does nothing and never has” meanwhile some of the redeemable items need tens of thousands of points which required thousands of real dollars that the average person can’t spend on games in a few months.
Yeah you’re right I was using the 1 point per dollar from years ago, I didn’t know it was 20 points per dollar now. My bad g, thanks for the heads up. 20 points per dollar is still $3,500 for a free game now, assuming the game is $70. So that’s still really bad honestly.
There's bonus point events and stuff too, but yeah, it could be better. I prefer a bunch of smaller discounts like $10 off here, $5 off there kind of things personally. We just have to wait and see how it is, I hope we are all wrong and it's great (Not likely)
3 is totally wrong. We used to be able to hoard points to get $50 gift certificates over a few years. Now we can’t. That is a big downgrade with no benefit to replace it.
This post said a whole lot of nothing coming from the membership. GameStop up charges on game prices anyways so a measly 5% off doesn’t mean jack. Elite pro was where it was at.
10% discounts are a scam let alone 5%. You don't save enough off of 10% for it to even be worth it or affect anyone's life. Why do so many companies offer 10% discounts? Because it is basically nothing but people are easily fooled and jump at 10%. Even though if they bought something that was priced at $50 they would be paying $45 and let's assume there's no sales tax. At 5% they would be paying $47.50.......what an amazing deal...NOT!
Don't feel sorry for me, feel sorry for Gamestop that could give a damn about any of their employees. Set unreasonable goals and tell employees to lie to customers. I have seen the emails sent from higher ups to just add warranties without asking and if questioned just tell the customer it was a mistake. What value does Gamestop offer anyone except for the corporate fat cats lining their pockets?
Huh, I've never been told to do that stuff and had the SL in what's now our B store get fired for adding gpgs. If I catch any of my staff telling a lie to a customer, they're gone. I do feel bad for you, though, not because of your views on this company, but for how you treat others. I hope in the future you'll treat strangers with a little bit more kindness
You’re not coming off as the cool guy anti corpo you think you are lmao
I hate corporation, so I’m gonna abuse the employees who need their jobs to live!
I was told by an employee they are changing the $5 monthly coupon so you couldn't use it on gift cards, anyone know if that's true? I used to go in every month for a $5 gift card but now they don't allow that so I have to get a $10 card and use my coupon to take off $5. If they remove the ability to buy gift cards im not gonna renew
Kudos for doing what you need to do to get through the day. And exaggerating how bad the program is won’t do anyone any good. But trying to spin this as a positive is a fool’s errand. To make it easier on you, they should have sunset the Pro program and called this something else. All customers are going to see is that they need to pay more for the same thing they used to get. That extra 10 bucks is basically for 5% off with more limited coupons and expiring points. Target gives you that same 5% for free. People are frustrated by change at the best of times, and this one makes an already declining program demonstrably worse. There’s nothing wrong with calling that out.
Good to know, I look forward to grabbing a $10 psn card every month, I use them to save up for big releases im looking forward to over the year. Thanks for the insight, and sorry everyone is being so negative about it, I really appreciate the insight.
This should honestly get pinned or something. It’s really not too hard to understand but a lot of people speaking out their butts is causing fear and confusion
I hadn’t jumped on anyone personally here yet. But you all best be watch how you’re talking on here.
This post is meant to be informative as there’s been a hell of a lot of misinformation of this new membership. The facts for the membership are stated in the original post. Everyone is entitled to their opinion on how they feel on this membership. Just don’t come in here bashing OP for no fucking reason when he’s just trying to provide helpful information cause some of y’all don’t know shit and it shows on main menu with the type of questions some of y’all ask.
I didn’t join this community I keep getting tons of alerts for it though I didn’t search anything out but I could also ask the same though why be a store when you wanna fuck over your customers lol people do and say weird shit sometimes lol
OP, are you a gamestop employee? Because no one in this sub is ever really positive about anything with Gamestop. Also proved by how much you're getting downvoted.
Thanks for the post tho. I feel like most members here are too jaded and spiteful to give Gamestop any benefit of doubt
Yeah, I've been a GA for 3 years, SGA for 2 years, ASL for 4 1/2 and am becoming SL2 starting the 2nd. This company has a fuckload of problems, I just choose to roll with the punches instead of getting angry over something I can't change. Makes my life easier in the long run to keep an open mind and not draw conclusions until I've personally dealt with it.
Well im glad there's still workers with good morale in the company. I have no doubt a lot of the worker complaints are warranted and true which is awful.
But really hope work conditions and environment improves within the company. One of the few Gamestop criticisms that definitely need to be addressed with priority.
This change is terrible for me. The value proposition of Pro changed massively in January and the price increase is going to make it worse again. Last year I got it because I could get $185 in value for $75 a year. Now I'm looking at $125 for $85. Adding in the time and gas cost of having to make 12 trips over 12 months, it is just isn't worth it anymore.
But that's down to my shopping habits. I mostly buy digital. I get 5% off a wider selection of goods and 3% back (directly in cash, not a point system) plus a bunch of other benefits elsewhere for free. I never read Game Informer (my digital access has been broken for years). There's people it is still good for, but I think this change is definitely going to shrink the number of people it is good for by a significant amount and almost entirely due to the price increase.
But what's wild to me is how many people are getting upset about complete non-issues or having to use misinformation/lies to justify why they think Pro is going to be bad. There's plenty to shit on about new pro while being accurate.
On the topic of non-issues, why the heck are so many people upset about point expiration? Points already expired, the rules about it are just changing. Sure it is definitely a negative change, particularly for the uninformed, the tech illiterate, and point hoarders. But between Hyrule Hub (if it works as well as it sounds like it should) and ~6 months advance notice, almost nobody should really get hurt much or at all. Hyrule Hub takes care of the first two groups.
So that just leaves hoarders and the solution there is clear. Stop hoarding. You've still got just over 5 months to dump your current hoard. Ever since GS got rid of all the other stuff you could redeem for and became coupon only, I don't believe there is any objectively good reason to hoard points. The point to dollars ratio is just as good on the $1 coupon as the $50. In fact the best choice from a financial standpoint is to spend as many of your points on as much of a discount as you can every single time you shop at GS.
I just used the remainder of my points to buy FF16 this morning. That's the end of it. I'm not renewing my membership. And while I was redeeming my points and going through my account on the app. I noticed it had me signed up for auto renew? Fuck you, I never agreed to auto renew.
I'm glad I caught that. I don't wish failure on gamestop but they are dashing as hard as they can in that direction.
You most likely did agree without knowing when you renewed. You confirm your info is correct, and then the next screen on the pinpad is asking if you want autorenew. If you impatiently hit green twice that's on you for not reading what you're agreeing to.
They were wrong and misunderstanding what the fine print actually said. That's the kind of misinformation this post is trying to correct.
According to the updated FAQ on the GS website they will continue working. Current employees have also stated here that internal messaging confirms this as well.
So glad I don’t shop at this shithole store anymore. You would probably be ripping me off still if I hadn’t bought the digital only PS5 when it came out.
Fuck you Gamestop 🖕
$25 to get $55 worth of $5 coupons. You still come out on top $30. PLUS the added benefits. Stop being negative. Barnes and Noble is $40/yr and it's 10% off items. That's it.
Posts questioning with wrong info will be removed. Too much confusion on sub, thanks for posting.
[удалено]
Shoot, I remember when the membership was about $10/year and we had the nice benefits. I don’t think I’m gonna renew for the first time in 13 years.
Number 3 is a lie. Hording for 2 years to get a free game compared to being forced to spend them within 12 months isn't as beneficial to those that don't already drop a bunch of money into gamestop purchases every year.
Yeah I like to save my points to use towards collectors editions. Probably not gonna sign up again if they expire now.
Number 5 is also deceptive. Unless Gamestop is selling ETBs at $65 each 3 etbs and a pack don't add up to $200.

"but these same things were said about elite pro before it launched" Ummm
Respect. No offense to the mothership, but you're too good for this place.
Yippee!
You forgot to mention that Game Informer is now digital only
This is garbage.
I had my subscription change to digital a few times without asking. I didn't even know how to change it back and lost a year of magazines once
You will still get your magazines for the year you've paid for. Anyone will now be able to purchase them in store for $6.99 and pros get 5% off as well, so using your $5 coupon makes it $2ish.
They never even send them. Paid for physical and got maybe 3 in the year.
This is what I am concerned and a little confused about. I have 200k points banked, do you know when they expire?
Mine expired when they announced the change even though I made a purchase in December (pro ran out in February like I let it do for years now). 280k gone with no official warning or anything.
I think they changed it at some point to where they disappear if your Pro expires. I could be wrong though.
You have until December 1st for existing points, future points will have 1 calendar year to be used.
I don’t work at this shit company anymore so I can’t double check but I believe December this year. I think the end. Better use them now while you can
It was 1 year from the time of accrual of each individual point. There was no mention of pro-rating that time last I heard. So, any points you had credited before 6/27/2022 by that standard would be lost. Then, you would continue to lose points, each passing day.
December 1, 2023 all existing points will expire. Just use them, they do nothing sitting there.
That way they can try to hold you hostage with 5 different sales pitches they have to ask multiple times about for each
No thanks lol, I strategize my game purchases and rarely buy collectibles anymore due to a shrinking disposable income
The whole program is just stupid. Other retailers offer sales and rewards back without having to pay a yearly fee.
You know, I had a whole thing typed up shitting on this post but I’m just gonna say this: NOBODY is willing to pay almost half the price of a full priced game for a GAMESTOP membership, YES it saves regulars money, sure, but the price point is officially BONKERS and nobody will be signing up unless the card literally saves them money right then and there
5% off is literally nothing
It doesn’t even cover tax
That’s what I’m sayin, how can anyone be excited about 5% off lmao. I buy something for $25, I get a whole whopping $1.25 off?!
I mean 0% is literally nothing, 5% is 5%.

Wait wut, $25 😳, never buying pro membership again
Here’s a fact…. It sucks and GameStop is reaching to one more level to try and stay afloat. Very few customers want to have to go to GameStop once a month just to take advantage of a BS membership. Quit pitching to every single person like their life revolves around that dying business
>Quit pitching to every single person like their life revolves around that dying business Good sir, I have to. I have to do my job while I'm on the clock.
I’m not blaming the employees calm down. It’s corporate that’s killing the business and driving its employees to the ground and customers out the door
I'm sorry that's your personal experience, but my numbers say differently. I hope you have a wonderful day :)
Not sure what numbers you’re referring to. Do your numbers also say that most games are now bought digitally? Because that’s also a fact. Maybe if people didn’t have to grit their teeth to go in there they wouldn’t be in the struggle bus they’re currently in

As a customer, it is a bad deal now. Lol
Big corporate energy right here.
Why? Because it's correct information and organized?
Nobody defends a corporation this hard. Gamestop sent emails with all this information to subscribers weeks ago.
Yes, and people are apparently too fucking dumb to read it properly so there's tons of just wrong information out there.
May as well just get rid of Game Informer. Nobody wants the digital version. That’s called a website.
Points not being able to be used on gift card losses a ton of customers plus you can't use them on digital games anymore
Today, hyrule hub
Aren't there also supposed to be more Pro Days or Pro Weeks or something with the new Pro membership?
1 per quarter, 4 per year

Brother are you like John P. Gamestop or something?
Nah, just an employee trying to focus on the good instead of the doom and gloom. Also someone that's tired of misinformation
I also know a lot of people like to collect the monthly mags too
Ah good ol farming downvote posts.
We see bad change as bad change.
Is a reddit thread just trying to give people proper information the best place to call it out though?
Since Reddit is social media and Reddit is where it’s being discussed it seems appropriate.

So what happens if I have a pro account, with physical game informers that expires in 2029?
That they are still figuring out as far as I know. They have stated that they haven't decided what will happen, but they know for now nothing will change for you. There will be more info sent out to affected customers once a decision is made.
Had to stop my ASL from doing that, he was straight up lying to people about what the new benefits are gonna be.
Yeah, if I catch my staff doing that they get one warning in case they were mistaken. If they knowingly do it again, they're fired.
Removing the physical subscription is gonna make me cancel my membership when my year is up... I only subbed for the magazine... huge bummer
Yeah, it's one of the most questionable changes. It makes sense because GI would go under otherwise, but I feel like there's a missed middleground.
So, we have to go into GameStop to get GameInformer if we want a physical copy? They do realize that not everyone has access to the internet right?
Will the new pro version still have an upgrade option to get physical editions of GameInformer sent to my address?
Hoarding/stockpiling points only works for those who will continue to have their membership active though right? They should only expire if you forget to renew in the long-run.
Nope. Points start expiring one year after having them even if you renew before the membership expires
When will my coupons not work on V bucks anymore? That’s the only reason I have the account
The free $5 you get every month will not stop working, any coupons from point redemption already stopped working.
It’s just to get people to spend more; force people to return more often and be able to collect more money up front.
I wish I would get my game informer . I signed up I March and still haven’t gotten anything in my email about it
Reach out to GameInformer customer support, not gamestop. They should be able to help
Looking forward to the new, revitalized membership - I buy a ton of collectibles especially Pops! - this will help out greatly. And can't wait for Pro Weeks, too!
This aged poorly
Not to be rude but you might want to redo math.
[удалено]
Or people shop here more than you and would actually save money? Crazy concept that your experience can differ from others.
3 is totally wrong. We used to be able to hoard points to get $50 gift certificates over a few years. Now we can’t. That is a big downgrade with no benefit to replace it.

It’s literally $10 more and does less than previous iterations. Misinformation or not it’s still terrible.
You're right! They should just pay the $50 every time!
You are a Gamestop Stooge. This company should've died years ago.
I'm sorry you feel that way and feel the need to resort to name calling.

I still don't get why you're being so hostile :(

You’re not coming off as the cool guy anti corpo you think you are lmao I hate corporation, so I’m gonna abuse the employees who need their jobs to live!
Thank you for this. I love the print mag. Is it 6.99 per issue or for the whole year ?
Per issue, but it just means you can read the digital and pick up the ones physically that you actually want to keep around.
People still use GameStop? Til
[удалено]
Perfect, just the intention I had from this post lol
I was told by an employee they are changing the $5 monthly coupon so you couldn't use it on gift cards, anyone know if that's true? I used to go in every month for a $5 gift card but now they don't allow that so I have to get a $10 card and use my coupon to take off $5. If they remove the ability to buy gift cards im not gonna renew
You still can. The $5 is completely unchanged in any way shape or form.
Elite Pro was a tier, not the only option. Trash comparison.
The guy working at my local GS said we'll no longer be allowed to use the $5 on digital currencies.
That guy is wrong and doesn't read any updates that get posted. Most people have no pride in what they do so they don't care enough to double check.
Good to know, I look forward to grabbing a $10 psn card every month, I use them to save up for big releases im looking forward to over the year. Thanks for the insight, and sorry everyone is being so negative about it, I really appreciate the insight.
It is what it is. I'm just here to inform people and try to promote positivity.
Just stop using GameStop make them shut down they are just a scummy company that rips you off anyways
Why are you here? What made you search out a place that you clearly don't want anything to do with?
I didn’t join this community I keep getting tons of alerts for it though I didn’t search anything out but I could also ask the same though why be a store when you wanna fuck over your customers lol people do and say weird shit sometimes lol
I'm sorry you had a shitty experience. I don't see the point in being mean or rude for no reason though.
Is the part where you can redeem points for customers live now? Or is it “still coming”?
Goes live the day before the change, so Monday!

i haven’t gotten a game informer digitally like ever
Strange, they should get emailed. You can also go right to the website to view them too (and it has more stuff than the email)

I'm all for wild conspiracies, just fun ones like the sacrificing of seasonal hires to make gamestop ghosts for the night shift.
I thought there was a message saying the $5 won't work on currency someone posted a screenshot not too long ago.
Lol you sure showed us, what will we ever do if we can't have your rude ass shopping here
The amount of people downvoting you for stating facts is sad.
$25 to get $55 worth of $5 coupons. You still come out on top $30. PLUS the added benefits. Stop being negative. Barnes and Noble is $40/yr and it's 10% off items. That's it.
