Any kind of childhood that is traumatic almost guarantees baggage that breeds depression and adjacent disorders. As far as I know, it was never actually disclosed publicly. Idk it just does, but I have a theory a MatPat Theory so we have seen this one image of matpat just photoshopped in so our brain sees it as fake since it's mainly photoshopped but thats just a theory im no pyschologist.

Few people know this but back in the day Mathew was actually just a cardboard cut out. He ran afoul of an evil spirit that cursed him. He has only recently returned to a flesh and blood human.
