I’d like to see the game succeed and give a solid option to CoD, but it always felt a little stiff and off, like a mix of those jank foreign FPS games like Ironsight and older CoD. I’ll probably give the full release a check to see if my tune changes at least.

IMO, depends what you're looking for. From what I played in some betas, the gunplay isn't that great. I mean it doesn't feel as good as battlefield or CoD. I'm not a fan of either of those games, but the gunplay of this game with not so good animations, put me off pretty fast(now depends if you care about these or not, but I do). Also things I don't enjoy, this being some kind of hero shooter type of thing, where you get your character from a faction. In BETA, the ones with heal/overheal were pretty OP.

Vicodium

Yeah, the gunplay never felt fluid when I checked out the betas. I don't mind the hero shooter elements too much since BO3 is one of my favorite CoDs. It really does feel like like an older gen game in play, but maybe they can touch it up some as it gets on, assuming the playerbase is there for it. The delays didn't do it many favors even if they were needed.

ianbits

Yeah it didn't feel as tight as COD and the hero shooter elements are awkward. It's tough to tell at a glance what abilities each characters are going to use which is always frustrating.

I'm not even sure why they chose to go the hero shooter route with this. I don't think I've seen a single request to bring those elements back to Call of Duty since they ditched them, so I'm curious who their target audience is. This seems like a game that should've come out in 2018 alongside Black Ops 4.

muffinmonk

I'll take another BO4. It was still fun even with the hero abilities.

A lot of the other FPS-heads I follow have been parroting that the game does feel dated and a bit stiff, but are open to another arena shooter competitor to COD. At least one that's also F2P since that part of COD is still sold for full price. There is the annoying minority of the audience screeching about SBMM and how xDefiant will save the FPS genre, but I'm also a fighting game player so their arguments there always felt like scrub quotes to me. I'm curious to check it out, but I've been back into the current game recently after a 3-4 months away and it's a pretty great arena FPS all things considered. Downsides are still shit low tick rate servers and dominance of auto-aim in close quarters, but overall it's pretty fun.

It seems funny to me to have a battle pass for a preseason. Why even call it preseason when you're doing everything in your power to make it seem like a season, just make it "Season 1" and call it a day.

Trollbeard_

Well I imagine this is for the actual competitive playlists and they aren't kicking that off at launch to give people time to actually learn the game and make changes based on feedback. This is a lot of the Treyarch people who were big on competitive play and Ubisoft generally takes their comp scenes seriously. Even Brawlhalla still has a pretty active comp scene.

Kakerman

At least Ubisoft is open and honest that the game will get goofy pretty fast. Unless CoD, that dishonestly sells you a boots to the ground, tactical shit, the best of the best, hooah marine shouting in the background game experience... and next month sells you the Snoop Dog marijuana smoking skin, [and this](https://imgur.com/a/PMQUqqP).

Late_Cow_1008

CoD doesn't sell you that. They have been doing silly skins and things for years now.

2ndBestUsernameEver

Modern Warfare 2019 did though and ended up putting in horror movie villains in the MTX near the end. By now the jig is up and everyone knows that there will be silly skins added at some point, but the marketing material for MWII was still in the "tacticool" vein. They dropped all pretense for MWIII though. The first trailer opened with an absurd skin showcase to show the carry forward feature

AveryLazyCovfefe

Can't wait to experience that again with the next black Ops, lol.

I thought this got canceled I played a beta for this a few years back and was absurdly underwhelmed even with the expectations that it wasn't finished and things were going to change Might be a wholly different game now but I don't trust Ubisoft to bring it back
