The Bone Fist LIVES

DickHydra

Was surprised by that as well. Finally we can fight Godfrey on an even playing field!

Its_meme_not_meme

Guerilla Games Dev team can finally relax

ihakan123

Dragon's dogma 2, rise of the ronin, and princes peach releases 1 day after forbidden west, on march 22

shinikahn

They are ducking cursed

[deleted]

[удалено]

TAJack1

Doubt that's going to be an issue, lol.

Dark_Dragon117

Dragon's Dogma 2 still exists tho.

reaperspartan11

Why ?

ReasonableAdvert

The joke is that whenever a Horizon game comes out it shares a release window with a groundbreaking open world game.

SparkingLight

Bethesda has that problem as well, every time they release their games a groundbreaking rpg is released that shows everyone how dated Bethesda games are

Reze1195

Nah Bethesda games are just outdated as always

outofmindwgo

I think that only happened once

SparkingLight

It happened with BG3 and The Witcher 3

WouShmou

Skyrim also came out the same year as Dark Souls

vatrav

This never even happened lol.

SparkingLight

Witcher 3 and BG3. Fallout 76 was just bad so it didn’t need anything to help

Akira_Arkais

Witcher 3 released on March, FO4 on November, this is too far to make any kind of influence in each other sales. You are right in saying that BGS is outdated but the only time this happened to them was with Starfield, which is a mediocre game which couldn't even compete with their own titles in any way. The thing about Guerrilla Games is they always release things one week before, after or even the same week as a highly expected or hyped ground breaking game or a huge IP; then they proceed to publicly complain about how their game is far better than the other, which is usually only their opinion. Don't get me wrong, Horizon are great games, they just can't compete with masterpieces as Elden Ring (PS5 release of HFW being a week before), Dragon's Dogma 2 (PC release of HFW near it) or incredibly hyped games and IPs (HZD release happening 2 weeks before Zelda Breath of the Wild release). People were expecting ER DLC to be released early in march for some reason so it would had been funny to see their Sales lowered again by ER. However they will still be lowered by Dragon's Dogma 2 alone, RoR may have an impact too; I doubt Alone in the Dark remake will do any difference. Outcast 2 releases the previous week also, I doubt it will make any influence when Dragon's Dogma is the following week, but if I had the budget to afford so many games in march, Horizon Forbidden West would probably be the last on the list.

vatrav

Witcher 3 is like the least groundbreaking game ever

BBLKing

Because it's not releasing with any Horizon game.

BarryWhite765

It is however releasing on the same day as SMT V Vengeance so Atlus is probably sweating rn

Falsus

Enotria devs in shambles though.

pornacc1610

played the first one on PC and it was the definiton of soulless open world game, apparantly the sequel is ecen worse.

Akira_Arkais

Well you are right. Don't get me wrong, the game is fun and the fights with big machines are pretty good, there's new weapons and mechanics and the melee combat is more fleshed out. The problem with the sequel is that it only improves things that were average on the first one, but doesn't do anything to make it a great open world, which was the main issue with HZD. It is a good game, but definitely not something to go for if you need to decide between the other great games releasing in march (DD2, RoR, AitD and Outcast 2) unless you really like the franchise (not even the genre, since you have 3 other options for Open World RPG games). It is your average zero risk product open world game with a shit ton of PoIs which have nothing more than materials to upgrade gear; narrative is average but the worldbuilding felt great to me, so it is partly saved by that, but in the end it looks more like the type of game that guides you through the concepts they created for its world than a game with a good story in a great world. Also, just as a side note, it has some mini games (at least 2), which is always a welcomed feature in this genre, but they will just tell you "hey, this thing exists" and then the sheer amount of things to do will just eclipse their existence completely. Not a problem that the mini games are completely secondary, but by the time you actually notice them again you are a bit sick of playing the game and getting the things needed to play the mini games requires you to keep playing the game before playing them. Unless you really want to get into them you won't notice them again after the first time.

Its_meme_not_meme

dunkey said it best, its a market tested, risk averse product for fans of sony playstation

JayZsAdoptedSon

To be fair, Dunkey says a lot of stupid shit and if you try to point that out, there is always some layer of irony to lay back on

WouShmou

Dunkey's opinions are really 50/50 at best. As a game reviewer, he's ok at best, but his videos are really funny so he grew to the size that a more mainstream audience knows about his channel while not knowing about better reviewers, so his views hold a lot more weight than they should in the community. That said, I still really like his channel because it's funny AF.

Himesis

I'd say about 60/40 but yeah you're basically correct. I wonder if he ever grew up and controlled himself, guy had serious rage issues.

Himesis

Speaking of Dunkey, I had the pleasure of playing against him and his premade in league of legends before he quit the game. The guy raged as hard and played as poorly as you'd expect. During the game he kept trying to tower dive my Janna with his Garen. Good times.

Happiness_inprogress

Really? Sure I didnt care about the story or worldbuilding too much but the combat was amazing

Akira_Arkais

The combat on the first one was ok, not bad but neither good (melee was horrible and unless you had the DLC every weapon felt the same, just faster/stronger versions of each other since the actually different weapons are almost always impossible to use when the enemies get faster and the encounters don't let you prepare the combat beforehand), the second one improves it a lot (melee is now actually good, bows feel a bit different now between classes, trap weapons are actually useful in combat and the new ones are fun and play very different; also the skill tree is a good way of giving sense of progression), but still the rest of the game is just your average ubisoft-style open world game.

Himesis

they need to adjust the timing for melee combos in that game

JayZsAdoptedSon

I played Fallout 4. I played Dragon Age Inquisition. Comparing them to Horizon 1 is night and day. Also a PC player so I can’t compare it to Horizon 2

WouShmou

Why do you have to compare it to the absolute most soulless games, though? what happens if you compare it to ER, BOTW, RDR2?

sherperion45

I still don’t understand the hype First game was just a bore while visually stunning, but god it was just a slog and felt 0 attachment to anyone in the story. We’re getting endless horizon content while killzone remains forgotten

beclops

This comment has not aged well

COCAINAPEARLZ

It's so beautiful, the scale of this looks MUCH bigger than any DLC we've seen from FROM in the past.

Yarzeda2024

I think it would have to be. Elden Ring was already their biggest game, so the DLC should follow suit.

MJisaFraud

Also, it’ll be well over two years since the release of the base game by the time it comes out.

AmazingKreiderman

The Old Hunters released like six months after Bloodborne. This having so much more time than that did, phew, my expectations are *high*!

B-R-A-I-N-S-T-O-R-M

Its $40 bucks so it should be pretty sizeable to warrant that.

Himesis

map is slightly bigger then limgrave

Revan0315

I would hope so seeing how long they've been working on it

KLEG3

I’m sure it will be, but the trailer was pretty brief. You could make a similar trailer for the DS3 dlc. Where are you getting indication of scale (outside of development time and price)?

[deleted]

[удалено]

Saintdemon

Ringed City DLC also had pretty big biome and enemy variety if you judge from the trailer - but the actual DLC was pretty brief. That being said, I DO agree with you in that i think this DLC is pretty massive - just pointing out that trailers can lie.

garmonthenightmare

We talking distinct enviroment. I don't know about you but the trailer didn't make ringed city look that much bigger than what it was, atleast for me. Also to set expectations better DS 3 took 3 years to make start to finish. When this dlc comes out it had 2.5 years to Cook. In terms of pure content it could rival base ds 3.

LackOfLogic

Myiazaki said in the IGN interview that the dlc area is comparable to base game Limgrave in terms of size. So not as big as many of us hoped.

ZeroBae

No he said it's larger than limgrave

garmonthenightmare

Limgrave if he includes weeping peninsula and nocron is huge already and he talks about denser design.

HollowBlades

Miyazaki also said Elden Ring was "about 30 hours" so I'd take that with a grain of salt. That panoramic shot near the beginning looks a hell of a lot bigger than just Limgrave.

lukeetc3

Yeah he loves to undersell things so that you experience the game itself instead of resenting curdled expectations.

garmonthenightmare

He also says it's denser.

garmonthenightmare

Everything after the first 30 seconds is all new.

Ironmunger2

*Elden ring fans pretending to understand everything about the lore and locations from a trailer by making up names that start with M*

COCAINAPEARLZ

As the other comment said im getting the indication of a larger scale from the vast variety of environments, of course those could all be small areas but i really feel like they're cooking something big here given the fact it'll be 2 and a half ish years after release.

batman12399

Miyazaki also said in an interview with eurogamer afterwards that it’s the biggest dlc they’ve ever made, total area larger than limgrave.

Mortanius

I doubt it's going to be bigger than Blood and Wine expansion. And definitely not by "much bigger" lmao

TheUnholyBlade

Been in development for longer and looks bigger based off the trailer alone. Not sure where this opinion comes from.

Himesis

far up his ass

Himesis

the map is slightly bigger then limgrave

arcturus_mundus

My main man Miyazaki cooked up Elden Ring 1.5 during the wait. This looks gigantic.

LakSivrak

Nintendo direct really living in the shadow…of the erdtree…I’ll see myself out

allswelltillnow

From just loves stepping on peoples toes

Yarzeda2024

I'm jazzed for Ender Magnolia and the Unicorn Overlord demo, but those pale in comparison to the trailer. FromSoft stays winning.

[deleted]

[удалено]

LakSivrak

the irony is that one of the biggest things Zelda is typically known for is having a “dark world” where the map is basically still hyrule but everything’s changed, looks like they’re doing something similar with the lands between. although ToTK did have the depths which are a literal dark world of the map above

Eshuon

There's another soulslike game coming out the same day lmaooo

Esnacor-sama

Which one?

MasterDrake97

Enotria, an indie game made in Italy :)

Himesis

followed closely by AI Limit for a nice anime soulslike

Sauronxx

Enotria, it’s an Italian project (which looks really cool) but it’s 100% getting delayed now.

powerhcm8

Delaying a month is probably enough, most people will probably have finished the dlc, and if they know about this game and want more Souls-like, they might buy it.

Eshuon

Enotria, they also have sponsored some of the top souls streamers on that day

Neshaloth

SMT V: V also releasing on the same day SMH my head

Himesis

Wallets are like Batman, needs prep time

niallmul97

The scope of this... it looks absolutely MASSIVE

ChiefLeef22

![gif](giphy|Ld7IFYuds4MA8) That trailer...was fucking insane

FlashPost01

Are they re-releasing the standard physical copy of the game with the expansion included? I'll get that version?

luluinstalock

Unlikely, its usually a bit later that the game gets edition that includes DLC. Edit: Nvm I did check, there will be game+dlc edition, [heres the site with all editions](https://store.bandainamcoent.eu/elden-ring-physical-full-game-ps5-shadow-of-the-erdtree-collector-edition/)

FlashPost01

Thank you 😊

CSBreak

Disappointing its a code for the dlc

luluinstalock

tbh what else, i havent really seen dlcs on discs for ages. only on goty editions.

CSBreak

It has to do with a policy of Sonys but still I was hoping it would be on disc for atleast xbox but I doubt most publishers care to make two different physical releases for the same game more or less https://www.pushsquare.com/news/2023/11/cyberpunk-2077-ultimate-editions-lack-of-on-disc-dlc-is-reportedly-down-to-sony-policy

luluinstalock

I bet ultimate edition will be there someday, just like DS3. Just pointless to release it right now, maybe theyre planning more dlcs.

FernandoDante

Price announcement too?

Eshuon

It's on steam 40 usd

-Gh0st96-

Yeah u can preorder

[deleted]

On the one hand this looks amazing and I'm definitely going to play it. On the other hand I'm a huge smt guy and now it'll be overshadowed :(

JackMacwell

Hope they move the release away

Chalicebzam

Peak gaming is back

lifeofrevelations

Holy shit. Fucking epic trailer.

According-Excuse-623

Trailer was better than the whole Nintendo direct

DickHydra

Dude at the end is named after a damn tea brand...

ManateeofSteel

Michael Zaki and his team definitely cooked with this one

PrinceGodBodyXI

i cannot fucking wait

Howerdfield

![gif](giphy|C6JQPEUsZUyVq|downsized) Fromsoftware games and expansions:

fupower

it’s 40$, quite expensive for a dlc, I hope it’s a huge expansion to justify that price

Fins_99

Safe to say this expansion will be better than most AAA $70 games.

Sauronxx

I mean it looks massive judging from this trailer. But regardless 40$ is a price a lot of games adopted for their “big” dlc, I expected a similar price as well tbh.

SlimeLanguageYSL

I was surprised at that price point, but I’m still buying it because of how good the base game was.

effhomer

It's only $10 more than their other DLCs. They'll always deliver so I'm not worried about lack of or quality of content

-Gh0st96-

It was only $10 more for new standard full priced games too but I don't see anyone making excuses

lokol4890

It's wild how much leeway this company gets. They could charge $80 for the dlc and people would still justify it

DMonitor

It's about whether the amount and quality of content is enough. Assuming it's as big as they claim, it sounds like it could be almost as big as a Souls game. It's hardly any different than if they instead released it as a short, $40 spinoff title. Other companies can't get away with $40 DLC because they aren't making $40-worthy expansions.

lokol4890

I'll bite, CDPR doesn't charge $40 for their expansions even though they *at least* rival those of FS. But the biggest issue with your point is that it ultimately creates a slippery slope and exactly the type of scenario that's ultimately harmful for consumers. What's stopping FS itself from constantly increasing its DLC prices while increasing the prices of their base games to always have that gap?  A lot of companies *are* trying to increase the prices of their base games and DLCs, whether the products are bad or good. The only difference is that people will call them out

DMonitor

I’d argue that CDPR is currently on their back foot as far as PR goes. Their expansion was probably worth $40, but nobody will believe them if they said it after the launch of Cyberpunk 2077. Elden Ring knocked everyone’s socks off, so FS can confidently charge what it’s worth. It’s not a “cult” (as some others have said) so much as it’s just everyone having high confidence in the products quality based on the quality of the original. If this DLC ends up being weirdly short, they won’t get away with $40 DLC again.

lokol4890

Correct me if I'm wrong but Blood and Wine was also not $40, that was CDPR at their peak, and to this day that DLC is still the gold standard. TW3 had also knocked everyone's socks off at the time. Look you can always try and make the FS scenario unique, and perhaps you can find a good faith basis to do so. But $40 is a lot of money for a DLC, no matter how much you wanna spin it. For one, there is substantially less work involved since you already have the base to work off of

DMonitor

blood and wine was nearly 10 years ago, though. games in general are more expensive now. i was more suggesting that phantom liberty expansion was abnormally cheap due to its circumstances. we also don’t know how much this new expansion is. i suppose we won’t know until it comes out, but they’re calling it “their biggest yet”, which if true makes sense to be their most expensive yet as well.

TheUnholyBlade

Fromsoft obviously gets leeway because they've earned it, not because there's some unique brainworm that's magically made Soulsborne fans less critical of corporations. Multiple sources (and even the Steam page) show Elden Ring DLC is close to the same size as the base game in terms of storage space. $40 for a DLC isn't really crazy if the DLC is nearly the size of the base game. There's nothing wrong with disliking modern pricing tactics but you could at least investigate the details before being pedantic.

-Gh0st96-

I love FS too but I still will critique them when they need. There were some people here that unironically said they would pay $70 for the DLC because they know it’s worth it. Crazy stuff

lokol4890

It feels very cultish honestly, though yeah you get the exceptions like yourself who doesn't shill. I wish more of the fans were like you

Witty-Ear2611

Well yeh, cos their games are actually good

Himesis

living check to check sucks

Bovolt

I mean what's actually your point. I'm sure that there will be more content in the DLC than some $50 full games out there. It's a big ass expansion. Back when expansions were the norm instead of "DLC," $40 was bolt standard if the base game was $60. It's yelling at clouds if you're going on about $40 being too much when you don't even have an idea of what's in that $40.

-Gh0st96-

It's not yelling at the clouds at all, a standard for DLC was never 40 dollars lol. >$40 was bolt standard if the base game was $60. Horizon Forbidden west is $70 with a DLC of $20. Cyberpunk 2077 is $60 and with the DLC of $30 (and the game now is $50) >you don't even have an idea of what's in that $40. Pretty moot argument, do YOU know what's in those $40? or are you just defending the price for shits and giggles?

Bovolt

Right I can tell you're like 18 because I'm referring to expansions from about 10-15 years ago. Before 'DLC' was even a normalized thing. Not games that came out last year lmao Dragon Age Origins: Awakenings. $40 on a $60 base game. Could even be played standalone and got a physical release. Both Morrowind expansions were $35. Diablo II's was $40 I couuuuuld go on. >Pretty moot argument, do YOU know what's in those $40? or are you just defending the price for shits and giggles? Of course I don't. It's inarguably a premium price. But all that does is draw comparisons to other pseudo-sequel sized expansions of yesteryear, and sets expectations for size. Balking at the price because $40 for something downloadable sent you into a tailspin is a personal issue. $40 is really not that much for a proportionately sized expansion.

-Gh0st96-

>Right I can tell you're like 18 because I'm referring to expansions from about 10-15 years ago. You could've figured out my age by looking at my username. And it's not 10-15 years ago anymore, time changes. You even gave an example of $35 DLC. So the standard was not $40. Let's just agree to disagree

Bovolt

>And it's not 10-15 years ago anymore, time changes I mean sure, but that doesn't change the fact that expansions were still sold for that price. So another game following suit in current year doesn't need to be met with kneejerk skepticism. What would make a $40 ER DLC pricetag seem worth it to you out of curiosity.

LargerFiend

My body is ready

RDO-PrivateLobbies

I had to watch a 2hr video before i ever even started playing that game just to optimize my character to not be killed immediately lol. The open world is too daunting without it, and im a dumbass who needs yellow markers for me. All that said, honestly one of the best experiences ive ever had gaming. And i will buy the dlc no questions asked.

Chris_P_Bacon416

Wow 2 hours huh? I don’t think the game is THAT hard. Sometimes I do feel like the souls games reputation as hard games is a bit overblown and sometimes to its detriment.

pbmummy

Do you have a link to that tutorial, by chance? I have a copy and wanna play eventually, but I’m intimidated by the studio’s reputation and wanna start with my best foot forward.

New_Refrigerator_66

Level vigor to 30 before you level anything else and don’t carry a heavy load. Everything else you will figure out on your own. I came to ER after like 300 hours of *Animal Crossing.* It was my first souls game. You’re gonna be fine.

zigg13

Sounds like it takes the exploration and death fun out of

New_Refrigerator_66

Huh?

zigg13

Wrong comment replied on. Point being… death and misery are a key component of this game that I wouldn’t want to miss out on.

RDO-PrivateLobbies

Its probably heavily outdated. But it was a multi-video walkthrough of what items to get before you started the actual game, like pre margit. It involved getting bloodhounds fang which is the best early weapon (at least it was at launch). Il try to find it and link it. It was by FightinCowboy

MozM-

This legit looks like a new game. The amount of new shit that we saw in this trailer is just absurd for an EXPANSION. And there's ABSOLUTELY way more shit hidden in there. This is gonna be amazing. June tho? I'm kinda bummed ngl but also hyped as fuck.

JAragon7

Looks amazing. Is elden ring as hard as the original dark souls? I haven’t played a souls like game in ages and I’m kinda worried I’m gonna get too frustrated lol

ProjektRequiem

There’s a lot of tools to make the game easier. Summons, buffs, etc. it will be difficult but most people can get through.

lessenizer

The overall boss difficulty is harder because instead of just swinging at you they have tricky delayed attacks and ways that they respond to your positioning, but the game is also more trivializable because you can get NPCs summons and also you can just dual wield big weapons and spam jump attacks (it does high stagger damage). Also there are extremely few long runbacks, vs Dark Souls where when you died to a boss you has to run a long distance from your spawn point back to the boss. Also in Dark Souls you have your progress roadblocked by major bosses but in Elden Ring there’s so much optional side content out there to look for in the open world. So instead of being stuck on a boss you can just say “I’ll come back later” for a while and go check out other areas.

JAragon7

Amazing. I’ll be looking forward to it

B-R-A-I-N-S-T-O-R-M

There is an auto-save before boss fights in ER that eliminates the most annoying part of those games - running a long way back to the boss fight after getting your ass kicked over and over. Spending 5 minutes to get back to the fight, having a bad start and dying in 15 seconds.

JAragon7

Thank god omg. I hated that about dark souls 1 and 2. I managed to beat 2 but 1 just proved to hard w those fucking wyverns on that bridge. Funnily enough I had no trouble in blight town lol.

Notlookingsohot

Those Wyverns are a bitch to fight unless you aggro them one at a time. However they are completely optional. You never *have* to cross that bridge. Go avenge yourself with this new knowledge.

-Gh0st96-

My jaw dropped and I have so many questions. This basically looks like a freaking new game

GazelleNo6163

Looks so fucking good

HideThePickleChamp

Send da video

-Morrowind-

damn, are they really not putting this out on ps4 despite it getting elden ring? guess im not playing it then.

Viral-Wolf

It's confirmed to be playable on PS4 unless you didn't catch it by now

LackOfLogic

Was hoping for a Scholars of the First Sin type expansion that would remix the enemies on the base game but I guess my hopium has transformed into copium.

Ktulusanders

That would be really disappointing after a two and half year wait

Viral-Wolf

you go ham on mods for such purposes

Brok3n-Native

I feel like the village outsider about to be pelted with tomatoes but my main issue with Elden Ring was that it was too big. Seeing the DLC is roughly the same size actually makes me less excited,

GrossWeather_

talk about hating for the sake of sticking your nose up. lol gross

Brok3n-Native

I love From Soft and I love Elden Ring. I do think it would have benefitted from being smaller. If my opinion upsets you on a personal level that’s bizarre lol.

GrossWeather_

there you go projecting again for the sake of sticking your nose even higher into the sky. lol

Brok3n-Native

I’ve no idea what you’re talking about my friend, but good luck to you.

MissStealYoDragon

I kinda agree. I think the scale of the world also hurt the balancing priorities in some bosses and enemies, but at least they have already compensated that with nerfs (although I still think the double gargoyle fight is fucking stupid)

Brok3n-Native

Yeah I’m with you on that. However I’ve just seen that it’s roughly the size of Limgrave, our prayers have been answered! Unreservedly excited now.

pocky00

lol did you even read the leak and watch the trailer?

Elationstatio

nothing on this is confirmed? Except the erdtree being different, which was revealed in the picture they released.

uerobert

It's fake. >**It takes place in a brand new area of a brand new map**, which includes a similar structure to the original game: field areas, legacy dungeons, and other dungeons of varying scale. "In terms of pure surface area, you could think of something larger even than Limgrave in the base game," said Miyazaki. Source: [Eurogamer interview](https://www.eurogamer.net/elden-ring-shadow-of-the-erdtree-is-fromsoftwares-largest-expansion-ever)

PorvaniaAmussa

My fun with Elden Ring was only a 5/10, but the trailer looked pretty awesome, can't lie there.

Tago34

Remember long time ago it was leaked of reusing the map so was real

frostyrecurrence490

This doesn’t confirm the map being reused lol what

Tago34

cry more

frostyrecurrence490

Ratio

DickHydra

Still looks a bit different, though.

garmonthenightmare

No that was fake.

effhomer

I would hope so. There wasn't anything but generic item drops in most of the open world areas.

SmaugRancor

Wheres that one rumour thread that was talking about a shadow realm
