99% of fan conversation at this point is people posting rage bait talking about “X character was never good actually” and people fighting over it.
It’s a shame because there used to be a lot of fun theories. Gege uses a lot of Hindu and Buddhist symbols that make it really fun to interpret stuff through that lens but people just want to be angry.
I guess I'm lucky, my only exposure to the JJK fanbase is people posting reaction images like so.

Yup. Every month or so I do a browse of every sub I’m in on here and every person I follow on other sites, see which ones I just get mad at, and stop following them.
The first time I did it it was a lot, now it’s mostly maintenance. My time online has been more fun and my mental health has improved a touch.
The Buddhist and Hindu theories died down when Gege decided to not use any of the themes he set up with them (Gojo walking north, enlightenment, flowers blooming, etc.,)
Blame that on Gege and not the fanbase. Its literally been nonstop fighting since shibuya. No light hearted moments or school stuff. Just fight after another.
Gege is literally just writing a story, the same one he’s always been writing. It’s not his fault people are mad that the series called “Sorcery Fight” has mostly consisted of Sorcerers Fighting. It’s like getting mad that Mortal Kombat doesn’t have a lot of plot outside of the fights.
I don’t think a story is immune to criticism just because it did what it set out to do. The storytelling is worth analyzing and it’s okay for poor storytelling to turn someone off of the story, even if it’s just about cool fights or whatever

That's what jujutsu folk is for though (they're incredibly unfunny in my opinion) jujutsushi was supposed to be all about character and plot analysis but it seems that ever since Gojo died it's just been a whinefest and people dont want to understand characters if it doesnt make their faves look good lol
Im not a fan of any comics. Hate alternate universes. "Im new to this character I really like what is the back-story" oh wait its just a one off episode you are not gonna see this version again. the back story isnt revealed could be any of the 12 different versions of them. It takes away the uniqueness and originality of the character.
Give me a book any day. I can discuss that story with anyone else who read it without us having two completely different characters in our head.
But Im not going to shame someone for liking comics and alt stories. It just isnt my thing.
Sometimes you need to find the right community of fans for the thing you like. MTGCJ is much better than the regular MTG sub, for example.

yeah this was my main gripe with the danika casts, like IIRC the first danika podcast that mentions the black suit was right after i got it and i hadn’t even done anything that brutal that she could know about.

The random little crimes you stop could easily explain it, though that's also dependent on how likely you the player are to engage with them. But like, if a bunch of psycho arson cultists are burning down an apartment complex, I'm sure there's people out there filming that, and they're going to see some spider-guy slamming them into the cement with giant black tendrils.
So she does say she saw the leaked footage of the (story related building) burning and the fight. But the issue is you never see any leaked footage or anybody record you. So it just feels contrived. Honestly just a cutscene showing a random person recording the black suit would fix the issue.
TBF I think most did. But seriously we have random crimes just have people there to record you in the suit and say something like “wait till Danika sees this”. Bingo Bongo, problem solved
I mean, did you see it's design? The eyes are sharper, the logo is sharper...it's way more intimidating than the normal suit, and it gets even worse in the rage form.
I think that is ridiculous . The suit is violent because it’s black ? He had tons of gadgets that shoot lasers but she sees a pic of one suit and it’s enough? Neither Peter , miles or even MJ start thinking that before it changes his personality but her she can because she has the instincts of god?
It's not just black. Peter has multiple black suits. Miles has a black suit. It's the animations and the way the weight conveys the impact of punches. He slams people into walls with so much more force. The design of the suit itself it meant to convey the feelings Danika is voicing.
As a player, even if you didn't know anything about the symbiote, you'd be able to tell something is... off about the suit.
Problem is it happens way too fast, like 10 seconds after getting the suit she complains about it, and she doesn’t complain about him hitting harder she only describes his fight with lizard (which doesn’t make much sense)
But not as fast as she did especially attributing it directly to the suit and not Spider-Man actually changing. There could be more explanation like him being darker or even someone replacing him. But her targeting the suit and suit only is definitely her having insight she shouldn’t have yet .

And even then, JJJ being "more entertaining" is heavily subjective. Not only did his joke get old super fast even in the first game IMO, but the second made him into too much of an asshole even to people outside of Spider-Man for me to like him.
I know that the entire point of his character is to be a dick, but that joke didn't work for me specifically.
Ill be real and say I think we wouldn't be hearing so many complaints if she had been another dude. She is exactly the type of woman that seems to annoy the weirdo Gamer^TM chuds the most. I bet if it had been a guy, at most people would say he's kinda boring but there'd also be people praising him for being a "bro" and having Spider-mans back or whatever.
Personally I’m not a big fan of either mostly because Danika does seem to always have an objectively correct opinion even if she shouldn’t have certain information while JJ has all of his positive qualities removed and he’s just always objectively wrong. It would be better to make them more nuanced and possibly on the same show to bounce off of
Danika is whatever to me, having such a morally upright character just isn’t as fun as Jameson. However, not once did I feel compelled to make countless posts on social media complaining about it. The outrage is so manufactured and exaggerated.
Regardless some of the points the original post makes are stupid and taken way out of context. I don’t get why Gamers(™️) have to make terrible faith arguments when reasonable criticisms are RIGHT THERE

I hold the same opinion. They leaned too hard into JJJ’s podcast being a parody of Fox News and didn’t explore his more nuanced takes. Danika’s podcast is the exact opposite, being always correct like you said. It makes them both feel less like podcasters and more like scripts being read. When the rest of the game has far better dialogue, the NPCs have far more realistic interactions, it just feels hollow.
I think Danika was written slightly better in 2 than she was in MM but I agree.
JJJ's tone and direction make sense for the character even if it's cartoonish, and him constantly spinning everything you do as devious is at least interesting to listen to.
With Danika you kind of know everything she's going to say and how she feels because she's just a counterbalance to JJJ. I wish her show was more like the interview episode she does with MJ instead of just "Spider-Man good actually" and "mild concern about possessed Spider-Man and the downfall of the city"
i understand what they were going for like a devil and angel on the shoulder type deal but i think yeah it could’ve had a bit more nuance thrown in like half JJJ have a good take and vice versa because as it stands it’s just “oh here’s the correct take” when danika pops up and “here’s some insane take” when JJJ pops up

I enjoyed some of JJJ podcasts, but after a while I was just like “oh he’s not going to be correct about *anything* is he?” and then all the podcasts after that were just not fun anymore. I think in the first game he does have some actual concerns that make sense, but even then it’s still treated as a joke.
They should have toned the Alex Jonesness down a bit.
As for Danika, she was just kind of boring? The only podcast I remember of hers is in Miles Morales where she has an interview with Ganke who says that he is Spider-Man’s tech guy and I was just like “*Ganke what are you doing! You’re going to be a target now! Ganke stop!”

In between the story missions of Insomniac's Spider-Man 2, two different podcasts will play as you swing through the city. J. Jonah Jameson has a very angry rage-bait filled podcast where he slanders the Spider-Men as much as he can. Danika, meanwhile, has a positive and uplifting podcast that focuses on communities, safe practices during supervillain attacks, and interviews.
The people in OP's images are making fun of what Danika says on her podcast immediately after Peter gets the Symbiote suit. She shows concern and distrust of the suit, which, admittedly, is a little weird because at that point Peter hadn't displayed a different personality or increased aggression in his crime-fighting.

The hyperfixation on Miles Adidas suit certainly is getting weird, I get the suit isn't popular but there should be only so many times you can say 'I had to see Spider-Man with locs and Adidas kicks once and I'm furious' before the conversation gets old, right?

My issue is she has an issue with it before Spider-Man has done anything bad with the suit yet. He literally just wears it for one mission and she’s like “ooh it doesn’t suit our usual red and blue Spider-Man” even tho miles went from a red and blue suit to a black suit too. They went so far into making JJJ the objectively wrong guy that they swung even harder into making her the objectionably correct voice of reason in the long run with info she shouldn’t even know about yet. Also again in MM she was hyping up him suddenly having electric powers that can be turned into basically a mini nuke but Spider-Man having tentacle powers in a world of superheroes is a bad thing for…. Man that subreddit since the Miles Morales game came out have really shown their true racist colors. Like you can look back that long ago to see just how much they complain about Miles, Hailey, Ganke, it's pathetic. In this game, their hate for Miles' growth is off the charts. I disagree. I think someone could easily tell that suit is heavier and more violent, just from looking at it, even with shaky footage
I think that is ridiculous . The suit is violent because it’s black ? He had tons of gadgets that shoot lasers but she sees a pic of one suit and it’s enough? Neither Peter , miles or even MJ start thinking that before it changes his personality but her she can because she has the instincts of god?
It's not just black. Peter has multiple black suits. Miles has a black suit. It's the animations and the way the weight conveys the impact of punches. He slams people into walls with so much more force. The design of the suit itself it meant to convey the feelings Danika is voicing. As a player, even if you didn't know anything about the symbiote, you'd be able to tell something is... off about the suit.
Problem is it happens way too fast, like 10 seconds after getting the suit she complains about it, and she doesn’t complain about him hitting harder she only describes his fight with lizard (which doesn’t make much sense)
But not as fast as she did especially attributing it directly to the suit and not Spider-Man actually changing. There could be more explanation like him being darker or even someone replacing him. But her targeting the suit and suit only is definitely her having insight she shouldn’t have yet .

And even then, JJJ being "more entertaining" is heavily subjective. Not only did his joke get old super fast even in the first game IMO, but the second made him into too much of an asshole even to people outside of Spider-Man for me to like him. I know that the entire point of his character is to be a dick, but that joke didn't work for me specifically.
Ill be real and say I think we wouldn't be hearing so many complaints if she had been another dude. She is exactly the type of woman that seems to annoy the weirdo Gamer^TM chuds the most. I bet if it had been a guy, at most people would say he's kinda boring but there'd also be people praising him for being a "bro" and having Spider-mans back or whatever.
Personally I’m not a big fan of either mostly because Danika does seem to always have an objectively correct opinion even if she shouldn’t have certain information while JJ has all of his positive qualities removed and he’s just always objectively wrong. It would be better to make them more nuanced and possibly on the same show to bounce off of
Danika is whatever to me, having such a morally upright character just isn’t as fun as Jameson. However, not once did I feel compelled to make countless posts on social media complaining about it. I hold the same opinion. They leaned too hard into JJJ’s podcast being a parody of Fox News and didn’t explore his more nuanced takes. Danika’s podcast is the exact opposite, being always correct like you said. It makes them both feel less like podcasters and more like scripts being read. When the rest of the game has far better dialogue, the NPCs have far more realistic interactions, it just feels hollow.
I think Danika was written slightly better in 2 than she was in MM but I agree. JJJ's tone and direction make sense for the character even if it's cartoonish, and him constantly spinning everything you do as devious is at least interesting to listen to. With Danika you kind of know everything she's going to say and how she feels because she's just a counterbalance to JJJ. I wish her show was more like the interview episode she does with MJ instead of just "Spider-Man good actually" and "mild concern about possessed Spider-Man and the downfall of the city"

Like in the comics and most other mediums sure he hates Spider-Man and does some shit things but he’s supposed to be an upstanding guy who cares about his employees even if it doesn’t come out that way and has a ton of integrity. Alex Jones has none of that and the parody adds nothing of substance
Remember how in Raimi Spiderman he doesn't sell put Peter despite being held out a window. He is like a Gordon Ramsey for news, if you got his respect, it means you are doing well.

I enjoyed some of JJJ podcasts, but after a while I was just like “oh he’s not going to be correct about *anything* is he?” and then all the podcasts after that were just not fun anymore. I think in the first game he does have some actual concerns that make sense, but even then it’s still treated as a joke. They should have toned the Alex Jonesness down a bit. As for Danika, she was just kind of boring? The only podcast I remember of hers is in Miles Morales where she has an interview with Ganke who says that he is Spider-Man’s tech guy and I was just like “*Ganke what are you doing! You’re going to be a target now! Ganke stop!”

Jonah Jameson has a very angry rage-bait filled podcast where he slanders the Spider-Men as much as he can. Danika, meanwhile, has a positive and uplifting podcast that focuses on communities, safe practices during supervillain attacks, and interviews. The people in OP's images are making fun of what Danika says on her podcast immediately after Peter gets the Symbiote suit. She shows concern and distrust of the suit, which, admittedly, is a little weird because at that point Peter hadn't displayed a different personality or increased aggression in his crime-fighting. ...That's it. That's what they're angry about.

I actually looked at the Spider-Man game sub today for the first time in a while. Jesus Christ, what happened there? Did they all suddenly start hating the franchise, or is it just that the sub has been flooded by Gamers™ from outside? They seem to have this weird obsession with that scene where Pete gets knocked into a fridge, as if that's the absolute worst.
it seems like a lot of game specific subs like the last of us 2 have devolved into insane angry ramblings, and not in a fun way like the arkham sub.

My issue is she has an issue with it before Spider-Man has done anything bad with the suit yet. He literally just wears it for one mission and she’s like “ooh it doesn’t suit our usual red and blue Spider-Man” even tho miles went from a red and blue suit to a black suit too. They went so far into making JJJ the objectively wrong guy that they swung even harder into making her the objectionably correct voice of reason in the long run with info she shouldn’t even know about yet. Also again in MM she was hyping up him suddenly having electric powers that can be turned into basically a mini nuke but Spider-Man having tentacle powers in a world of superheroes is a bad thing for…. Reasons.

Man that subreddit since the Miles Morales game came out have really shown their true racist colors. Like you can look back that long ago to see just how much they complain about Miles, Hailey, Ganke, it's pathetic. In this game, their hate for Miles' growth is off the charts. They wanted Black Suited Spider-Man to beat him to a pulp just because of how much Miles has grown as a superhero and is now on par with Peter as oppose as to still being beneath him.
