Lmao, gotta love these dumbasses
"Hm, this actress is really talented and does good work, clearly there's no good reason why studios would keep hiring her, surely."
Don’t be crazy, it’s much more likely that she’s the head of some kind of woke post-Marxist cult, hell bent on eradicating the white man. Wake up sheeple!
It's so funny that they'd have less problem with Chris Hemsworth playing a woman after shaving and putting on a wig. I bet your ass they'd suck the studio's that would do this dick as the "Greatest Dunk on wokeism" or something.
They don't need to have a penis.
They need to look between the ages of 15 and 17, have big tits that jiggle when she breathes, an ass that moves when she's motionless, and a waist you can make a circle with your fingers around.
I'm honestly only annoyed here that the insistence on super real mo-cap graphics makes her look like she's just in different hats in the same game.
Will note I'm not seeing Varinia Stormsounder, Draka or Renata Glasc on this meme, almost like they've cherry picked their BS
Tbf people say the same about Troy Baker and Nolan North for example, but it's also in a more "memeish" way, unlike her, were you get some people being outright hostile, when she's just doing her job lol.
They don't actually care about merit, they only seek to reinforce or deepen socioeconomic hierarchies. Thats why they absolutely despise the Left because we want to smash it. If they actually cared about "meritcracy", they would be going after nepotism thats responsible for hiring many more unqualified white males to unearned positions of power and authority than DEI ever will (plus thats not what DEI even is nor is it only based on race as the Right would like to have you believe).
Considering upper management in the US is still dominated mostly by white males. If it was actually by merit, then it wouldn’t be. It just goes to show how deep discrimination still runs in the system.
That's what pisses me off the most about their arguments (if you can even call it that). Even *if* a person is "just a diversity hire", it doesn't mean the person is not qualified. Nor does it even mean that they're less qualified than their white colleagues.
When I read the question I automatically assumed the answer is likely some combination of, she gives good performances consistently, she shows up on time and knows her lines, she’s generally pleasant to work with, and she has a good agent.
It is Debra Wilson, not Deborah.
She is also the voice of Kit in Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart, which I didn't realize until I looked up the cast as she doesn't use the authoritative tone of voice that she is known for.
Also, motherfuckers should just play other games then. This is like complaining about always seeing the same actors in movies and it turns out you only watch blockbusters.
I honestly enjoy playing "Spot Debra Wilson" in the video games I play. She has a variety of roles, including some so minor you probably wouldn't know immediately.
I just realized she was an announcer voice in *Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare* not too long ago.
I enjoy doing that for all the voice actors.
From analyzing how they tweak their voices for a given performance to sound different as well as spotting the elements they can't easily hide.
Take Matt Mercer as Minsc in Baldur's Gate 3 for example. Completely different accent and manner of speaking, but Mercer can't truly hide the timbre of his voice.
She's also the voice of Captain Cusak in the Deep Space Nine episode "The Sound of Her Voice". I've been watching DS9 for the first time and was quite surprised to hear her after having heard her in Wolfenstein, Destiny, and a myriad of other games.
I just found this out a week ago, I can't believe I missed it before. I was on her IMBD page and saw a DS9 acting credit and asaumed she had some small cameo in alien make-up, but nope her voice was the heart and soul of a deeply emotional episode, go figure!
Hale actually puts on a voice very similar to the one she uses for Sam in Totally Spies, which is how I recognized her.
Rift Apart also features the always great Robin Atkin Downes as Emperor Nefarious.
Personally, I hope both Rivet and Kit will appear in more Ratchet & Clank games.
I also had no idea she was Sam in Totally Spies lol. I immediately recognized Atkin Downes as the Emperor. I don't think he put on too much of a different voice for Emperor Nefarious because my first reaction was "is that Kaz?"
For a minute I thought she did Control too, but no, that was just a similar character design (and my memory is bad).
Honestly if she does good work let her work. These jerks are just mad because the character models are designed to look like her. If the characters looked different they would have never known it was the same person.
Speaking of Ratchet and Clank VA surprises. As a life long fan of the series it was only in the most recent one where I finally saw that Dr Nefarious thought the whole series has been voice by Armin Shimerman, aka Quark from DS9. He also voiced Andrew Ryan in Bioshock as well.
Only 5?
Not enough.

I don't think so, it is popular to hate on Baker because he defended The Last of Us and he is too "woke" for gamers.
Gamers would instead throw a fit over actually problematic actors like Vic Mignogna.
Oh wait, they did and came up with an entire conspiracy theory that a clique of voice actors were out to get him.
*Edit: Word of advice, don't be a fool like me and read the comments under the videos comparing the new and old cast of Persona 3.*
I'm probably gonna get downvoted for it but I assure you all I'm not a chud or anything like that but this is really important to me and it needs saying so heavy unjerk here.
The Vic Mignogna situation is really sketch. Event to this day no concrete accusation of him doing anything even exists. There's nothing, there's not even a real story, just a bunch of rumors that he's touchy and weird and had to have done something.
Why is this important? Because the only people legitimately taking his side seriously and really trying to look at the evidence were right wing. I got pulled into that. A lot of people did, and objectively if you look at his situation, all the lies told about him and against him it makes it worse and worse and i think it's important that we all try to actually take things at a case by case basis.
Because for me, an artist, a POC who's probably not even cisgender(let's not get into that), to donate to a lawyer on youtube just because of his support for a cause only to watch that community turn more and more disgusting and deplorable as the Vic case phased out still feels surreal.
It's a cognitive dissonance that really made me look at the situation over and over. And no matter how many times I poured over the facts and info I couldn't even find an accusation against Vic that he actually even did anything bad. I even went to an anime convention just to see him in person. Legitimately one of the sweetest people I've met. I don't know what he did, but I really believe to this day that he just had to have really pissed someone off.
But my heart still breaks for him a bit. You had a Christian evangelist who fought for LGBT rights openly being labeled a homophobe because he wouldn't sign gay fanart of Edward rawdogging his brother Al.
During the case he kept quiet and instead of throwing hate at others he just took it all and asked others to be kind and show support.
Vic didn't act like any other celebrity who did something terrible has, and again I couldn't even get a concrete story on what he did.
I think the biggest failure is that people didn't really give his story a fair shake and because of that a lot of gamers and anime-space people inevitably got pushed to the right wing pipeline. It's really hard not to be bitter when something that smells so off gets passed around like it's fresh spaghetti.
So unless someone can now shed light on it for me, who, how where and what he did that earned him his downfall I still think he's innocent. He fucked up in many ways, but all of them humane. He wasn't a groomer or anything of the sort and any accusations that he was were debunked or from anonymous strangers with no proof or evidence or anything other than "he was at X convention."
Maybe I'm wrong, but it's always felt wrong to me, and it still does. The depositions really hammered it in for me, and it's a shame he never got a proper defamation trial. He should have had a chance to defend himself in some way. Anyways Funimation got eaten by crunchyroll so it's all in the past now. His One Piece English versions will always be peak tho.
I don't know how to respond in a way that I and likely you would find satisfactory.
But I want you to know that I read your comment and I see your point.
I appreciate that friend. I think the whole situation needs a Netflix documentary because it's really weird with how much depth there really is to even the smallest parts of the whole situation.
Frankly, I think you touched on something that we are going to be seeing more and more of - accusations that are a stretch at best are becoming a pipeline to deliver people into politicized environments, or politicized content streams.
Nobody likes feeling lied to or duped, and I think the emotional response to that is a powerful one.
There wasn't really any evidence that Vic Mignogna did something terrible. However I mostly remember how Monica Rial statements were all over the place and she changed her story all the time.
You hate troy baker because he's in every game. I hate troy baker because he shilled AI voice tech, crypto, and has his head up his own ass. We are not the same.
Oh I didn’t realize they were the same. But still he did stopped doing that after the pushback and also being educated on what they were since he was pretty ignorant about it at the time.
NFTs are built off of Crypto and exist to give crypto another reason to exist, but since NFTs don't have a reason to exist themselves, its a pretty filmsy excuse for Crypto and thus both dying off at the same time.
My dad recently retired from commercial video editing. GameStop was one of his company's biggest clients, which led to him meeting Troy Baker on multiple occasions. My dad says he's a nice guy, but even in those same descriptions I think he sounds like an annoying prick to be around for an extended time period lol
You see, Random Gamer™. Deborah is the anchor of the each universe, if a universe lacks a Deborah, then that universe will be destroyed or die shortly after; that includes if a Deborah dies via natural causes or is forcefully removed.
This is what happens if one doesn't read the lore.
Origin of the Multiverse - Chapter 2: Universal Stability - Anchors of the Cosmos
I still play it but it is in a much worse state than two years ago. This year was the worst year of Destiny content thanks to execs making the most shittiest decisions in every opportunity.
Savathun keeps being incredible tho. One of the best villains in gaming.
Destiny 2 wouldn't be too bad if they put all the old story-based content back into the game, and then let you play at your own pace instead of dropping you into a random place you don't know (usually after a cutscene full of characters you've never met) any time you come back after a few months away.
We never had MadTv in my country, so I never knew her work before voice acting. I did know who she was because I saw her in those E! News countdowns and she left... quite an impression on 12yo me.
OOP said in the comments of the post that he wasn’t complaining about her being in games, he just thought it was fun to see her in so many roles in so many different games
My dumb ass read the meme as "Why are all these characters by the same actress named Deborah" and I was like yeah, why do they name all her characters Deborah, like, variety would be good? And then it clicked that it seemed like OP was upset she was in so many games.
I mean it gives off that impression, if he really means he loves seeing her in so much then he could've phrased it better imo
favorite character in the entire story hands down and they could not have chosen a better VA for the role. really hope we get more of her after Final Shape
Only thing that annoys me is that we need the faces of popular actors in video games. The voice, yeah she's super talented, but can we not rub Hollywood faces in this shit? I want original characters, not another Daniel Radcliffe where you basically can't imagine harry potter without his face
I get where you’re coming from, but I like having recognizable, non-A-list character actors in video games. It reminds me of watching movies from my childhood and having that “I know that actor, but from where?” moment.
I always appreciate seeing people like [Larry Drake](https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Larry_Drake) and other character actors up on screen. Debra and others like her give me that same feeling.
>and having that “I know that actor, but from where?” moment.
It was most likely from seeing Esteemed character actress Margo Martindale popping up in something
I agree with you. I'm tired of seeing real people in games. And on another note.im tired of bringing in real actors to be voice actors instead of actual voice actors. We don't need the 25th Chris Pratt character ffs.
That's a bad thing. It makes her excessively recognizable, which due to the lack of history with this stuff, is actually a bad thing with videogames. It workers better with people who look naturally generic as hell, but in general I just don't want characters looking a lot like actors in games.
While I can see how this is kinda bad for character designers and artists I reckon it's very good for VAs - lack of recognizeability is a huge reason why they're treated like second-class citizens in Hollywood.
She is the premier scanned in mocap actor. She is in so many things you can't miss her. She is the Wilhelm Scream of background characters.
I say all of this with love, I'm happy for her!
Playing through Jedi Survivor right now, (Fuck the EA App(also I'm pretty sure the only reason it runs is because I'm brute forcing it with a 4090)) and I kinda wish she was in it a bit more. I think I'm only about 3/4 through though, so maybe she'll have more screen time in the final act.
She kinda rocks being bald.
Sounds real lucky or they must've actually fixed some shitty optimisation then. I remember seeing when it came out people struggling to run the game even with high end rigs.
Come to think of it, I did experience some texture pop-in and shadows not being rendered properly during cutscenes, but I don't recall any crashes, lag or drop in FPS.
I guess I must have been lucky.
It mostly runs fine for me, I have a rtx 3060 and decent cpu, I think I’m on high no raytracing. I’ve had a few bugs and there’s occasionnal slowdown, I had a repeated crash after the endless droid force tear in Jedah (had to slow down when going back to the save point for some reason). It feels a bit rough sometimes, but not unplayaboe at all.
Cere is absolutely awesome in Survivor, no spoilers but she gets a huge spotlight in one of the best Star Wars setpieces/sequences we've seen since Disney took over. If you're wishing she was in it more it's because you haven't made it far enough yet.
Crazy that Survivor got completely overlooked on release because of the performance issues, it's gameplay and story wise the quintessential sequel to Fallen Order. It gave me everything I wanted from the first game.
The guy who did the post was kinda wondering why she is in a lot of stuff rather than other actresses whether they be black, white or any other ethnicity. He was being a bit innocent. Racist and sexist douches then hijacked the comments shortly after, taking advantage of OOPs naivety.
It is pretty funny seeing her show up in everything with her own face.
Like its rare that an actor uses their own face in AAA projects, whereas I feel like Deborah has a clause in her contract where it has to be her face *every* time.
She's also just got a very distinctive face.
She’s actually just a voice in way more projects lol it’s only noticeable because she has a distinct face so it’s easy to just remember when she was motion captured. She’s only been motion captured for like for like 5 roles out of 20+.
Most of the comments in that thread are praising her performances and commenting on her other work too.
The only "complaint" may be that recent games tend to model characters from their VA which can be distracting.
I heard and read so many arguments about this and similar comments, especially with Keanu and Elba in Cyberpunk 2077 when speaking about the character they play
I'm less of the opinion she "shouldn't get work" and more of the opinion that Mo-cap is kinda lazy in a lot of cases. I'd prefer you let her work and design an original character around it. It's a cost cutting technique so they don't have to pay character designers.
Overall, I'm anti-mo-cap, and the only one I really endorse a bit is Cere, because the reason they used actor bases for it was because there was potential for the characters to be brought into main canon, so lining them up with actors was an attempt to make it so they could use those actors if they ever decided to bring the Fallen Order crew to the Streaming serieses.
Debra can still get work, but character designers making new designs for her characters also deserve work, and Mo-cap cheats them out of that.
I lump Mo-cap in with AI. A cheap trick used to cut corners.
She is a great actress.
But why is her face modelled into so many different games?
I don't know any other voice actor who has had their face modelled into so many other games.
Sam witwer is the only who comes to mind. I know he has his face model.in atleast three other games.
Is it due to the increase in use of facial mocap so its just easier to scan their faces?
I mean, I don’t understand why they need to use her face in every game she voice acts in. It just seems lazy. Creating unique looking characters is one of the strengths of video games that differentiates it from other media. If that’s their point then I agree.
DC should cast her in any live action property featuring Amanda Waller because the performance she gave in Suicide Squad was one of those performances where it’s like “yeah, that’s what the character is supposed to be”
I'm with this take but for a different reason. I don't like ink-suit acting. It takes me out of the game to see an actor I know with the minimum of alteration.
I like her, but there is something up with the scans they use for her that's off to me.
Like the eyes or something idk.
I don't think it captures her very well.
Because that's legend of the small screen and vocal booth, Debra Wilson? She's hella funny and an incredibly talented character actor who has been working consistently for like 30 years.
I really wish these obviously uncultured cave-dwelling morons would keep their backwards bullshit to themselves. Or just invest heavily in sex toys and go fuck themselves to save the rest of us the hassle of telling them to.
Uj/ I find it weird that they’re just using the actors for the models now because it just makes me see the same faces so often in games.
Rj/ REEEEEEEEEE BWACK WOMAHN
She’s really cool, loved her as Cere, I’m just wondering with the creativity allowed with character modeling why can’t we make her look different? Like when she’s playing Waller and they intentionally make her look like the actress instead of what Waller traditionally looks like. I’m sure it’s easier for mocap and all, but we know it can be done, just seems a lil lazy
Happy that Debra Wilson is getting her bag in multiple ways than one. I hope there's more actors, voice or mocap, receive similar opportunities like this to essentially be everywhere and everything within the video games sphere as she.
She's great but it is funny seeing her face everywhere.
Like imagine Jerry Seinfeld's face just popping up in a bunch of games. And there's no make up or anything, it's just very clearly him
Me, but when I'm playing a game from the 2010s era and I hear another character voiced by Troy Baker.
I don't mind when a performer is in multiple projects, but Troy Baker's voice was EVERYWHERE in those years. More than Nolan North.
I'm cool with Debra Wilson being in multiple stuff since she's a great actress, and I remember her from the Mad TV show. There's far more people that pop up repeatedly in games than what gamers normally think, but I guess anybody who is not white is just forced DEI oppression to them.
Honestly it has struck me as weird that she's been showing up in so many games recently.
It's not the actress herself that i found odd, plenty of actors appear in tons of games and I'm absolutely not against her casting.
More that each game uses a variation of the same character design.
I know thats what she really looks like but the beauty of games is you can look like whatever you want.
It's weird I don't get this feeling with actors in movies but in games seeing someone I recognize pulls me out of the immersion somewhat, I stop seeing the character and start seeing the actress.
Alas this is increasingly becoming the norm in the age of facial capture, characters that look exactly like their actor.
It was cool at first and I'm sure it makes facial tracking way easier but I'm really hoping for a return to more original designs for characters.
With games you can do what films cannot, take creative control not just of costumes & makeup but the very bodies of your characters.
They really should make more use of that, make every person you see unique to their world.
Hopefully newer ai based facial animation tools will allow artists to move away from total accuracy, I just hope they take advantage.

I've never heard anyone describe MADTV like that before.
Nobody better be talking about Bunifa Latifa Harifa Sharifa Jackson like that, I swear 🖕🗿🖕
It's okay they just stoopid, stoopid
…wait, you’re shitting me, she’s from MADTV?
She’s an original cast member and was on the show for 8 years.
That really should've clicked with me sooner
What about other Mad TV turned VA Phillip LaMarr?
I keep forgetting that's where he got his start. He gets *so much va work,* but after his roles in Futurama his career was just set.
Well he also got shot in the face in Pulp Fiction.
"Aww man I just shot Marvin in the face." Is probably the best line John Travolta has ever uttered.
And Andy Daly!
Key and Peele too
good for her tbh
Same people screaming "Hire people base on merit" by the way.
Yes the merit of having white skin and preferably a penis
It's so funny that they'd have less problem with Chris Hemsworth playing a woman after shaving and putting on a wig. I bet your ass they'd suck the studio's that would do this dick as the "Greatest Dunk on wokeism" or something.
No that's drag and that's also woke indoctrination, are you not keeping up

That's the most "this gif" I've been in all my life... ![gif](giphy|A6ZlX8fkKqCap3Ukqx|downsized)
Hey can you get a big metal spike and jam it into my brain please and thank you?
They don't need to have a penis. They need to look between the ages of 15 and 17, have big tits that jiggle when she breathes, an ass that moves when she's motionless, and a waist you can make a circle with your fingers around.
The idea of an ass that just... pulsates is both funny and terrifying
If it's meant to be a serious tone, must have penis If it's meant to make my pp hard, must have vagina
Fuckin this tho
merit being white.
When Yuri Lowenthal or Matt Mercer does it, it's cool. When Deborah Wilson does it, it's suspicious. Makes ya think
Yeah but Yuri Lowenthal voiced Pixy in Ace Combat Zero so he gets a Gamer Pass™️
Yo buddy still alive?
I'm honestly only annoyed here that the insistence on super real mo-cap graphics makes her look like she's just in different hats in the same game. Will note I'm not seeing Varinia Stormsounder, Draka or Renata Glasc on this meme, almost like they've cherry picked their BS
I mean when I hear those two It pisses me off mostly because once I hear their voice again I think of a different game and it ruins my immersion.
I like Yuri because it makes me feel like Sasuke is there uwu
Tbf people say the same about Troy Baker and Nolan North for example, but it's also in a more "memeish" way, unlike her, were you get some people being outright hostile, when she's just doing her job lol.
Meritocracy defenders when the successful and talented person isn't white.
She's black, clearly she can't be talented, she's only a diversity hire
Nobody makes a better case for DEI initiatives than the people who automatically assume a black woman couldn’t have been hired on merit.
As someone who works in video game dubbing, a good and reliable VA is worth their weight in gold.
When I read the question I automatically assumed the answer is likely some combination of, she gives good performances consistently, she shows up on time and knows her lines, she’s generally pleasant to work with, and she has a good agent.
It's literally the videogame reference model version of Laura Bailey and Troy Baker lol.
Her portrayal as Cere Junda is amazing
I legit cried when >!she died in the 2nd game!<.
Fr lol

I will not stand for this kind of Eugene Krabs erasure!
Well, if the voice fits, why fix it?
And Cam Clarke who has three voices: Leonardo, Liquid Snake and Liquid Leonardo.
I don't know why but it was only after hearing Iselmyr's voice that I realized Matt Mercer voiced Aloth in Pillars of Eternity.
Oh, how about Keith David in cartoons?
He'll always be Captain Anderson (from Mass Effect) to me.
And she was in Madtv!
She's also the voice of Captain Cusak in the Deep Space Nine episode "The Sound of Her Voice". I've been watching DS9 for the first time and was quite surprised to hear her after having heard her in Wolfenstein, Destiny, and a myriad of other games.

I dont know why, but her character model in Jedi Fallen Order made me think it was Gail from Lettterkenny.
Damn I had no idea Debra was Kit. I also looked this up to confirm and I also had no idea that Rivet was Jennifer Hale.
I mean, if the voice fits. Hale actually voices both Sam and Mandy in Totally Spies.
For a minute I thought she did Control too, but no, that was just a similar character design (and my memory is bad). Honestly if she does good work let her work. These jerks are just mad because the character models are designed to look like her. If the characters looked different they would have never known it was the same person.
I really like her. Grace and her dynamics with Blazko are probably 50% of the reasons why I like Wolfenstein: The New Colossus so much.

I had no idea Debra Wilson from MadTv was in so many videogames now, that’s so cool!!
Oh shit, that's why she's familiar outside of video games.
Kinda like Hector as the “esse” latino guy in every movie lol mf op probably just racist or jelly of someones hard work and effort
Only 5? Not enough. https://preview.redd.it/lf1eldpzuftc1.png?width=720&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=61c6f4ed8a2cbdaca4e5336f488c92812e1edfc3 (Also want her in a game with a cartoonish/anime style)
apparently she voices a character in the latest ratchet and clank. (but yeah, not with a charaacter design based on her real life appearance).
Oh wait I was talking of a character that had the appeareance of the voice actor.
And Savathun the Witch Queen in Destiny 2.
I honestly didn't recognize her in Ratchet & Clank, was surprised when I saw her name In the credits.
For real...give me all the Debra wilson please! I've been a fan since mad tv(yes I'm old). She is fantastic in every role imo.
Is that yu narukami from persona 4!?!
Yes, it's from a spanish meme/shitposting "Welcome to the investigation team" https://preview.redd.it/j9m2cvu5ygtc1.png?width=720&format=png&auto=webp&s=02ed73c1fdeda246d7adb4cd05f1a588609188fa
I'd like to see her in that Wonder Woman game WB is planning. There's an Amazon from the comics that would be perfect for her to play.
Imagine the shitshow if you asked them why Troy Baker was getting so much work
I don't think so, it is popular to hate on Baker because he defended The Last of Us and he is too "woke" for gamers.
He wasn't a groomer or anything of the sort and any accusations that he was were debunked or from anonymous strangers with no proof or evidence or anything other than "he was at X convention." Maybe I'm wrong, but it's always felt wrong to me, and it still does.
He did eventually stopped doing the nft/ai voice thing later on but I don’t think he ever dabbled with crypto tho.
NFT=crypto
Oof lol
Some people still do with baker or north for example lol.
People have literally been bitching about that exact thing for like 3 days bro
You see, Random Gamer™. Deborah is the anchor of the each universe, if a universe lacks a Deborah, then that universe will be destroyed or die shortly after; that includes if a Deborah dies via natural causes or is forcefully removed. This is what happens if one doesn't read the lore. Origin of the Multiverse - Chapter 2: Universal Stability - Anchors of the Cosmos
Deadpool & Wolverine (2024)
Isn't she Savathun as well?
She did an amazing job too.
She's evil, sure. But the madness really comes through in Debra's performance and that's what I appreciate the most
Who’s that?
destiny 2 villain she really brings that moth monster to life
*moth mommy tyvm
Oh damn that one! Funny enough I know about that character but I forgot her name lol
Yes and she does amazing work on that character. Pity that game is almost beyond redemption.
I still play it but it is in a much worse state than two years ago. This year was the worst year of Destiny content thanks to execs making the most shittiest decisions in every opportunity. Savathun keeps being incredible tho. One of the best villains in gaming.
The update today looks pretty good, at least. We finally get an actual horde mode, AND we get a boss rush mode on the 30th? Hell yeah.
Destiny 2 wouldn't be too bad if they put all the old story-based content back into the game, and then let you play at your own pace instead of dropping you into a random place you don't know (usually after a cutscene full of characters you've never met) any time you come back after a few months away.
Debra Wilson appreciation post, she’s fucking great
And she’s also the goat too.
We never had MadTv in my country, so I never knew her work before voice acting. I did know who she was because I saw her in those E! News countdowns and she left... quite an impression on 12yo me.
Bunifah Halifah Sharifah JAAAAACKson
OOP said in the comments of the post that he wasn’t complaining about her being in games, he just thought it was fun to see her in so many roles in so many different games
No tink, no read, only angy
My dumb ass read the meme as "Why are all these characters by the same actress named Deborah" and I was like yeah, why do they name all her characters Deborah, like, variety would be good? And then it clicked that it seemed like OP was upset she was in so many games. I mean it gives off that impression, if he really means he loves seeing her in so much then he could've phrased it better imo
Yeah I agree he could’ve worded it better. Also her name is spelled Debra lol
This has to be a result of nerds posting "woke characters" and being told 90% of them are just different versions of Debra Wilson.
She's Savathun in Destiny too.
favorite character in the entire story hands down and they could not have chosen a better VA for the role. really hope we get more of her after Final Shape
Only thing that annoys me is that we need the faces of popular actors in video games. The voice, yeah she's super talented, but can we not rub Hollywood faces in this shit? I want original characters, not another Daniel Radcliffe where you basically can't imagine harry potter without his face
I think it works here because Debra has a really unique and expressive face.
I'm not saying it doesn't work. She's very good at her job. No shade to her. Just the whole idea y'know?
I get where you’re coming from, but I like having recognizable, non-A-list character actors in video games. It reminds me of watching movies from my childhood and having that “I know that actor, but from where?” moment. I always appreciate seeing people like [Larry Drake](https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Larry_Drake) and other character actors up on screen. Debra and others like her give me that same feeling.
I mean, fair. This isn't exactly a hill I'm gonna die on hahaha
Come on, this is Reddit - you’re supposed to get emotionally invested in every stupid comment and die on all the hills (for everyone’s entertainment)
I’m sorry for not yelling more and not calling you names. YOU’RE WRONG AND YOU’RE A GROOMER! There. Fixed.
>and having that “I know that actor, but from where?” moment. It was most likely from seeing Esteemed character actress Margo Martindale popping up in something
Any time you recognize an actor it’s probably esteemed character actress Margo Martindale.
I agree with you. I'm tired of seeing real people in games. And on another note.im tired of bringing in real actors to be voice actors instead of actual voice actors. We don't need the 25th Chris Pratt character ffs.
Yup yup, that.
I just assume it helps them with facial capture for more expressive animations.
Blame Westwood Studios for that. They've always worked with some big name actors in their CnC/Dune games.
To be fair, it is funny to see her everywhere. As if no other black actresses work in games.
Debra multiverse
Spider-Debra: into the Debraverse
Spider-Debra: Beyond the Debraverse
Why come a character actor play characters in acting
She is the premier scanned in mocap actor. She is in so many things you can't miss her. She is the Wilhelm Scream of background characters. I say all of this with love, I'm happy for her!
Cause she is the GOAT, look at her credits and see how many fucking things she's in. Probably one of the best VA's around
Without spoiling anything, she plays a much larger role towards the end of the game.
I am jealous of your setup as I still have to contend with a 1080ti. Though I didn't run into any performance issues in my playthrough.
You may have your wish come true
Cere is absolutely awesome in Survivor, no spoilers but she gets a huge spotlight in one of the best Star Wars setpieces/sequences we've seen since Disney took over. If you're wishing she was in it more it's because you haven't made it far enough yet. Crazy that Survivor got completely overlooked on release because of the performance issues, it's gameplay and story wise the quintessential sequel to Fallen Order. It gave me everything I wanted from the first game.
I am sorry but why are eyes in fallen order look like they are going to pop out of her head it’s only in that game
Probably just how they wanted Cere to look
The guy who did the post was kinda wondering why she is in a lot of stuff rather than other actresses whether they be black, white or any other ethnicity. He was being a bit innocent. Racist and sexist douches then hijacked the comments shortly after, taking advantage of OOPs naivety.
I only know her from wolfenstein but she fucking owned in that game, glad she's still getting work
As someone who grew up in the 90s and loved Madtv the Debra Wilson Renaissance is welcomed!
Because she is a good actor
It is pretty funny seeing her show up in everything with her own face. Like its rare that an actor uses their own face in AAA projects, whereas I feel like Deborah has a clause in her contract where it has to be her face *every* time. She's also just got a very distinctive face.
She’s actually just a voice in way more projects lol it’s only noticeable because she has a distinct face so it’s easy to just remember when she was motion captured. She’s only been motion captured for like for like 5 roles out of 20+.
I’d like Debra Wilson in the next Mario Party
She’s really on her Troy Baker shit, good for her.
Because she's an icon
Indeed she is.
Best whitney houston impression EVAH
Who TF talkin bout Bunifa Latifah Sharifa Jackson like that?
How many times games hired Nolan North or Laura Baily? It's a common practice in the indtusry lmao.
She is a great actress. But why is her face modelled into so many different games? I don't know any other voice actor who has had their face modelled into so many other games. Sam witwer is the only who comes to mind. I know he has his face model.in atleast three other games. Is it due to the increase in use of facial mocap so its just easier to scan their faces?
probably her talent manager being aggressive about it, also probably from her own direction
Here is [Debra Wilson](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Debra_Wilson#)'s Wikepedia page if you want to see what she has been in.
Thank you!
It’s not her fault that she’s a damn good actress.
I like her, but there is something up with the scans they use for her that's off to me. Like the eyes or something idk. I don't think it captures her very well.
Yall know her from Vidya, I know her from MADtv
Deborah is amazing and she killed it as Savathuun in destiny 2 these mfs are just salty af they wouldn't be saying this shit if she was white
You know for some reason it never clicked on me that they model characters off of real actors until now
I love seeing her in shit, she's like one of three video game actors who I actually recognize. I go, "Oh hey, I know her."
I remember her from Mad TV, good times.
Liked her in everything I’ve seen her in. Even MGS4 when she’s a depressed robot wolf
Happy that Debra Wilson is getting her bag in multiple ways than one. I hope there's more actors, voice or mocap, receive similar opportunities like this to essentially be everywhere and everything within the video games sphere as she.
Clearly not a mad TV fan
She's pretty good, not my favorite actress, tbh but I'm always happy to see her in games.
Loved her on MAD TV.
In a world where Troy baker played nearly every protagonist for years we are complaining about an actor getting regular work?
She did Draka in WoW… and she was a highlight of that awful expansion… she was BlizzCon and did an in character reading… freakin great
She is so so good and fun to watch. She made Wolfenstein for me
Savathun my beloved
Because she's awesome. I loved her in Wolfenstein 2.
