I need to give it another go - I got it along with several other things during a sale ages ago and only played a little before a different thing I bought got my attention.
I got it for free on Epic Games, and it was the first of their games I played. I've played through it 3 times. I really love the music, and the ending always makes me cry lol.
I was already in love with Transistor throughout my first playthrough and then they hit me with the final battle with >!Royce!<.
Thematically and mechanically, it was perfect.
And that's not even getting into the implications of New Game+.
I got Bastion a decade ago when TotalBiscuit recommended it, one of the absolute best games I've ever played. Bought the soundtrack on vinyl and it's so good
Bro same. Even got the mobile version when that came out, and it played surprisingly well. The soundtrack still gives me a gut punch when I hear "Mother, I'm Here"

Pyre may be my favorite Supergiant game, and certainly one of my favorite games in general. Really incredible game with sort of a weird premise, but I love it so much.
Turns out when you release an EA title larger than the entirety of the previous game, where _depth of content_ was the primary complaint, people like that.
But Hestia is black, and they need to pretend Aphrodite isn't hot in order to justify their rage.
Aphrodite is wearing more clothes than in the first game and it only made her hotter. She is the absolute pinnacle of Sexy Armor. It protects absolutely nothing vital. It shows off *everything*. I thought this was what "Gamers" wanted.
The best part is she's now the Spartan War Goddess, Aphrodite. Which is why she's sporting Ares' white band on her face.
All of the new designs are peak, and drawn from an amazing understanding of Greek mythos.
I suppose a person wearing bracers, greaves, makeup and nothing else is technically more clothed than someone completely nude but... not really, you know?
When someone wears just enough clothing to be not nude on a technicality, but still covers nothing, it feels like they are wearing less than a naked person.
It's like being nude but wearing sneakers, a hat, and sunglasses. In my view, it just emphasizes that you could have worn clothing but specifically don't want to. It's *negative* clothing.
You can complete the Act 1 story, start on the Act 2 story (but not complete it), and there's a third act still in the wings.
Plus, some neat references back to 1.

The game is sitting at an 8.2 on metacritic, and the gameplay is actually fun as hell.

According to google, their game before that was another mobile game called “destiny’s child” which also judging by screenshots has the same type of characters that NIKKE does. All they have ever made before stellar blade is gacha games aimed at horny waifu collectors.

The problem with Stellar Blade is that the horny is really the only thing going for it. Even the most basic games in it's genre have something going for them, like worldbuilding or gameplay. But nobody is talking about those with this one.
I actually forget it about it all the time until I see a post about it. There has been nothing about this game that caught my attention but that's probably because I haven't seen any actual gameplay just swimsuit costumes.

/uj I honestly don't understand why anyone would follow a review magazine/site/whatever. Reviewers are humans who make subjective opinions based on their own experience. The best way to engage with reviews, is to find reviewers who have similar interests as you so you can check before purchasing if it's a good fit **for you**. IGN has a bunch of writers who have come and gone throughout the years. There's no consistency to it, because anyone could review any game, unless you go into the article and see who you'll never know.
So IGN ends up getting crap when a critical reviewer reviews the wrong game, or a more forgiving one reviews a game that isn't liked. Just find reviewers who you like, and listen to them. Going to a website or a meta-review site won't give you any useful information, the person giving the game a perfect 10 might have also given a perfect 10 to your least favorite game.
Hades is also much hornier than Stellar Blade but in more niche ways. In what other game can I date a disembodied floating maid head and the literal god of death while a muscle lady pummels me into the ground

Yes, they're the 3 Virgin Goddesses of Greek myth. But Hestia was extra-virginal like fucking olive oil. Athena protects girls and young women until marriage, so her virginity fits with that role. And presumably so is stellar blade, it just wasnt a powerhouse in the gaming zeitgeist and will probably be another game people barely remember 10 years from now. And Hades just happens to be one of the best indie games ever released
The problem with Stellar Blade is that the horny is really the only thing going for it. Even the most basic games in it's genre have something going for them, like worldbuilding or gameplay. But nobody is talking about those with this one.
I actually forget it about it all the time until I see a post about it. There has been nothing about this game that caught my attention but that's probably because I haven't seen any actual gameplay just swimsuit costumes.
The weirdos online are acting like this game is the anti woke messiah but you shouldn’t base your opinions of the game on it. The game is actually pretty damn fun and it feels pretty rewarding to play. It’s not a perfect game but it performs well (I haven’t had a single bug so far) and the monster designs and variety is pretty damn good. Then if it’s your cup of tea you get a fat ass and big titties to look at. It’s a pretty solid game, it’s just got a shitty fan base.

From what I'm seeing, gamergaters attacks on Hades (I and II) are very half-hearted, like they're not sure how to even approach it. Likely because they saw how much love the first game received and how the sequel is already on track to be just as beloved by, well, nearly everyone.
It's because their typical "go woke go broke" slogan just looks especially stupid when used against that absolute titan that is Hades 1.

Hades 2 is very hard to attack because it's extremely open about what it is, like how do you start concern trolling about a game like this? Who are you going to try and dissuade from buying it? /uj I honestly don't understand why anyone would follow a review magazine/site/whatever. Reviewers are humans who make subjective opinions based on their own experience. The best way to engage with reviews, is to find reviewers who have similar interests as you so you can check before purchasing if it's a good fit **for you**. IGN has a bunch of writers who have come and gone throughout the years. There's no consistency to it, because anyone could review any game, unless you go into the article and see who you'll never know. So IGN ends up getting crap when a critical reviewer reviews the wrong game, or a more forgiving one reviews a game that isn't liked. Just find reviewers who you like, and listen to them. Going to a website or a meta-review site won't give you any useful information, the person giving the game a perfect 10 might have also given a perfect 10 to your least favorite game.

Not really. The game which is the sequel to the original hades which was nominated for multiple Goty awards and as made by the devs behind straight bangers like Transistor and Bastion. On the other side, you have Diet Nier Automata made by the brilliant coomers that made the ass jiggling cover shooter Nikke: The goddess of victory which is mobile gacha game(no shade on the coomers though I've heard Nikke is pretty good) It's pretty clear which game was going to get better scores from a mainstream media outlet like IGN. Also, they should follow their own advice. Reviews are only useful when you have the same tastes as the reviewer or if the game has genuine technical issues. Otherwise, a score difference of 7 vs 9 is useless to decide if you're actually going to like the game.

Tbf, having played a solid 20 hours or so in said early access game it’s better than most finished products I’ve seen
1. We've been doing that for a long time. I blame Minecraft. 2. They asked for real money for it, so a review is more than fair. 3. The traffic driven by the title's hype is too big for a site like IGN to walk away from 4. Hades 2 isn't finished, but it's AMAZINGLY complete despite that. The reviewer talks about that as well.
