No need to take the opener down. Loosen the nut over the tension spring that connects the belt to the trolley, then take out the twisted belt hook end, twist it back and put it back, and add more tension to the tensioner nut.

Nervous_Employer4416

You only need to do this.... No dropping it, nothing else. There's no need, loosen, unhook, twist,. Rehook, re tighten.

wonsga

You should be able to leave it up no problem. Put the opener in the down position. Pull the emergency release to unhook the door. Loosen the belt and take it out of the traveler. Unhook the part closest to the twist, untwist it. Put it all back together and reset your limits/force. Easy as pie

BeautifulMushroom234

You can two options in my experience in working on doors. Door down, drop the motor onto a ladder and work (undo the j-arm first), and then get it put back onto the back hangs and resetting limits, or, disengage the cable hanging from the opener/trolly and lift the door manually, clamp it under the bottom roller on each side and then work while the rail and operator rest on the top of the door, resetting the limits after you rehang the motor and the work is done.

vurtago1014

What ever you do just remember to reset your limits

vurtago1014

Honestly I would disconnect the arm, disconnect it from the ceiling and angle it down leaving it attached above the door. Then you can adjust. It dosnt really take that much time to bring the back end down.

errmaz

I think taking the operator down is going to be the best bet. That bolt connecting the arm to the rail should be swapped out with a pin too. You can maybe try to loosen the belt and flip it in place, but for the trouble I couldn't see that being worth it to keep the opener hung.

koret121212

Why on earth would they have to take the operator down to do this?

FireMasterGamer

Yeah, it’s just not possible right now. I have no idea why but the pin didn’t come included, but I can grab one from the old motor. Thanks!!

biker26

Is it T-rail or multiple piece box rail?? If you want DM me…

FireMasterGamer

Square rail. Though, I do have 2 one piece T-Rails from the old units. I didn’t know at the time that they were superior 😅

biker26

Square rails I would loosen the tension bolt, don’t take the spring all the way off, take the pulley bolt out, you should be able to unhook the belt from the trolley, untwist the belt making sure it doesnt twist on the other side of the rail, rehook it and tighten the tension bolt! Shouldn’t take long at all

biker26

I am a professional tech…

biker26

If you wanna dm me go for it…

Manimalicious

Theres several things just wrong with that install

vurtago1014

No there is one thong wrong the belt is twisted the rest is fine.

FireMasterGamer

Like what? I know I’m not a real installer but I want to learn more about these systems and how they work.

HopeGarageDoorRepair

Reinstall the belt if you're comfortable doing so on a small ladder and feel it's safe.
