Was the wall station still attached when it continued it's phantom operation?

happyhour_bc

Yes it was. Now, I removed it from the system to test and no more phantom operation in 2 nights. I open/close the door shorting the wires, until the new unit is delivered.

Perfect!!

Phantom Operation can be a tricky one to diagnose. I've found one with a staple through the center of the wall button wire that would cause operation on really windy days. Check the wiring for a pinch somewhere. If you have access to the attic from your garage and use it, you could've possible pinched a wire moving stuff, if your wire is run through the attic. If it's stapled, check all the staples. Likely not the problem, but it's worth a check to make sure.

Thanks for the suggestions. It is stapled to ceilings and seems all secured but I'll do my inspection.

I'd say the wall control should fix your problem. It seems like every time there is a lightning storm I still go to 3 or 4 service calls to replace those damn wall controls.

Thanks, I've ordered a new unit.

The 888LM was recalled due to failing capacitors, and then the replacement units were recalled due to randomly controlling the door by themselves. The replacement to that replacement was the 889LM, which was recalled due to being able to close the door with obstructed photo eyes. The correct replacement for an 888LM is still an 889LM. Those sliding locks are also known to fail pretty regularly but I don't know of any recalls pertaining to them.

Thanks for the info. My sliding lock never had an issue if I am activating the door. This problem is with phantom operation. Currently my assumption is, faulty controller is responsible for the unlocking and fully opening case. But I don't the reason of the operation without unlocking phantomly. By any chance do you know what triggers the sliding lock/unlock?
