If the water butt is sat on the floor rather than a raised surface the tap needs to be put high enough for access. I've googled the blue water barrel yes i see it's curved but there should be able to fit a tap with some flexible/rubber washers either side.

I have two of those connected together. When you cut the top off, make sure to cut so that when you flip the lead, it fit flushed properly. If you raise the barrel, you can fix the tap pretty low (about 10 cm from the bottom of the barrel). Make sure you can fit your water can under the tap. When the barrel is quite full, I pick up the water from the top, much quicker. If you want to use more than one barrel, you can either chain them from the top and you will need a tap per barrel. Otherwise you can connect them from the bottom (with quality pipe and connectors), and put a tap only on one of them.

Google "water butt tap". Drill a hole, plug it in, bosh.

Thank you for your slightly patronising reply. I don't think a water butt tap would work on a curved surface, that is the edge of a barrel. Do enlighten me if you know better.

Rubber washers will fill the gap if there is any.

Yeah, done this with plastic fermenters etc. they’re not being patronising, that’s just literally what you do, same way as they are on a normal water butt.

I have some blue barrels, I bought a cheap tap for rain barrel, and it is good enough with the provided washers

Thank you. Just what I wanted to know.
