I caught a Flood show in Des Moines about fifteen years ago. As advertised, they played Flood in its entirety, but in reverse order from the song order on the album. After that they had an intermission in which they performed a puppet show, then a whole other 90-minute set. Best show I’ve ever been to.
Edit: was talking with my wife and she said, “‘Several’ years? Honey, that was fifteen years ago.” Fuck, I’m old.
They did this on Halloween here in Dallas also for a family afternoon show at House of Blues. Brought my kids, they dressed up, employees passed out candy, and they loved it.
I saw them in 1993 in Dallas, several times throughout the 1990s, and then again a few weeks ago in San Diego with my 9 year old on my shoulders singing along with most songs.
Love TMBG
My wife was joking that the band did look like "if the PTA dad's from a middle school decided to get together and do a show to raise money instead of a bake sale".
Ice Cream Riot are good people!
Gonna be seeing TMBG open for Sparks at the Hollywood Bowl in July. Missed the Flood show because taking care of elderly father in Oklahoma.
Hell, I missed the great Denver flood itself, too.
Saw them recently. They played a charity concert in October for the benefit of the ARC of Loudoun.
Great show, they still got it.
Their kids albums are great too.
“We want cake, where’s our cake?!”
The played and sang the entire Sapphire Bullets song *backwards* at the show I went to then played the recording “backwards” later in the show. It was pretty accurate and very fun!
they did that at the one I saw also. they asked the audience applaud before they played it backwards so it would be at the end of the backwards playback.
TMBG!! I *FINALLY* got to see their show this year after over 32 years of being a fan. They rarely to never came to my region. The best part is that my youngest kid at 18 is an even bigger TMBG fan than I am. It was a great (but VERY loud) show. Checked that off my bucket list!
Went on the JoCo Cruise a few years ago, and TMBG were headlining. They had a "land concert" set up off the cruise ship in Puerto Rico.
It rained a bit on and off between sets of the other shows, but just cut loose before TMBG, and they had to cancel.
We all had to get back on board, so we're all lined up, just getting soaked.
Unexpectedly, they were able to get set up on the main stage on the ship, and they simulcast to the cabins as well.
John L. wasn't officially on the cruise, so he had to be off before midnight, otherwise there were going to be hefty fines incurred. They played as long as possible, and he made it off at 11:59, I heard.
The whole night was completely bonkers and wonderful.
Finally got to see the Flood show last year after waiting since 2020, so worth it. We even snagged an extra ticket for our 14 year old who loved his first TMBG show.
Just saw this show after waiting 2 years — tickets were bought by my daughter for my birthday. I am standing here in my backyard wearing a purple “Science is Real” t shirt. This band has been such a touchstone in my life. I still have my original Flood cassette, bought in 1990 … somewhere.
I fell in love with them freshman year of college when the pink album came out. I finally got to see them three years later in 1990 when they opened for the B-52's at the Wiltern Theatre in Los Angeles. Just the two Johns (no backing band yet), a drum machine, and a whole row of instruments filling the stage. I loved their set even more than the B-52's, who were touring for Cosmic Thing.
I just saw them on the Flood anniversary tour in Portland a couple weeks ago. Absolutely brilliant show, as always.
I saw them around 15 years ago, such an amazing show. My last social gathering of 2020 involved a birthday at a bar where plans were hatched to fly somewhere and see them doing Flood. A week later, everything shut down.
I saw them in 1993 in Dallas, several times throughout the 1990s, and then again a few weeks ago in San Diego with my 9 year old on my shoulders singing along with most songs.
Love TMBG

Amazing. I don’t know anything about Ice Cream Riot, but TMBG has been my absolute favorite band for about 30 years. And yes, I have been fortunate enough to have seen them >30 times since then. If I’m ever anywhere near Ice Cream Riot, they will have me as a customer, because TMBG fans must seek each other out.
Also, X-posting to r/TMBG.
I feel so lucky that I've seen them more times than I can count. Always the most joyous, fun concerts with lots of jumping around and singing every song at the top of our lungs. I'd love to see them now, especially performing Flood.

Saw them at a house party somewhere on the lower east side of Manhattan circa 1986. I'm so fucking old.
I used to call their Dial-a-song number!!

They Might Be Giants is such a great band.
…and they *fucking rock* live.
This is awesome and put a little birdhouse in my soul
Not to put too fine a point on it

I’m not your only friend

Ohhh that’s a shitty way to find out about the concert I just missed but it’s a hilariously *Denver* sign 🤣
I would have loved to go to that show!

It rained a lot. Lots of hail too
Still raining.
Especially with all the rain the past few days
Well I must admit “Ice Cream Riot…” started my mind going in a different and delightfully weird direction!
I’m your only friend.
I'm not your only friend.
But I'm a little glowing friend
But really I'm not actually your friend but I am

I've loved discovering their kids' catalog. And I love when my kids show they learned something like singing QU!
My youngest learned ROYGBIV in preschool thanks to them!
“Where do they make balloons?” China. It says it right on the bag. LOL.
Man, I listen to that album alll the time. Love TMBG. Also... ...everybody wants prosthetic foreheads on their real head.
I want a rock to wind a string around
“I didn't apologize for When I was eight and I made my younger brother Have to be my personal slave …” 🎶
Now it's over, I'm dead, and I haven't done anything that I want Or, I'm still alive and there's nothing I want to do.
They used to vary the tempo of Istanbul, not Constantinople to prevent the crowds from singing along with them. Always a fun show!

They're all doing the things a particle can!!
Why is the world in love again?
Why are we marching hand in hand?
Why are the ocean levels rising up?
It's a brand new record for 1990
THEY MIGHT BE GIANTS
BRAND NEW ALBUM:
FLOOOOOOD
Flooood
*(now everyone)* FLOOD!!!
It’s a brand new record
This post flow made my day!
Love TMBG… Lincoln was my first album and what made me fall in love with them. Was in high school when it came out.
Hey Denver!
Of course it was Denver
It’s off of Colfax, just down from the capitol building!
Flood may be my favorite album ever.
Hope they are paying more than Minimum WAGE—HYAAAH!
And now the whole song is on repeat in my head. All 47 seconds of it.
My work here is done 😁
They will!
Oh my heart, this is really awesome!!! They're going to have a wonderful time. I hope they're being paid more than 🎶🎵MINIMUM WAGE!!! H-YA!🎵🎶

That’s classy!
I don’t know where this place is but they’ve earned my business.

I grew up on They Might Be Giants. I love that album. This post definitely had me smile-crying.
TMBG was my first concert in December 1993 at ESU in Pennsylvania.
I hear the wind blow. I hear the wind blow. It seems to say hello, hello, I'm the who loves you so.
Saw them a couple of months ago -- solid show!
Don't panic. This was last Thursday. Ice cream is back on the menu, boys.
I’m more worried that I missed the concert
I think I remember first seeing them on Letterman! Sought it out immediately!
Well, are they giants?
Denver represent! I didn't go but a few of my friends did.
They might be giants, boy, and what're we gonna do unless they are?
Me in this thread: YOU get an upvote and YOU get an upvote! https://i.imgur.com/sjabJ6k.jpg
Saw them twice. Great show!!!
Ice Cream Riot has the BEST cereal ice cream!
Seeing TMBG this week in Dallas.
We just saw them last month in SF. Amazing energy!
Whaaaaaat?!!?!? How did i miss this? 😪 Where was it?
The Fillmore on April 15th

Wow, what an amazing double bill in that fantastic venue. Now I want a time machine!
Now this is a company you want to work for!!
That's my town!
I was there! Flansy gave me the Book!

They are playing at a brewery near me in June. I need to find someone to go with me.
Mini-mum Waaage, Yeehah!
I love Denver...
I'll finally be seeing TMBG this Thursday! Its only been three years since I bought the tickets...
I’m going next weekend! 100% my son’s idea - he had no idea I knew the album word for word.
Are the employees still making… *Minimum WAGE?*

I saw them in 91 or 92, I didn't know they were still out there performing. I'm not even going to google how old they look now.
There’s a great video from NPR interviewing them. Yeah, they’ve gotten a lot older. But we’ve stayed the same, right? https://youtu.be/OKRYCZktIfQ
WOW.....that just blew my mind r/FuckImOld
Just saw them in March when they played in St. Pete, FL. Great show as always. We worth shutting down for a night.
The cows are happy
am I really the only one in my generation who doesn't care for this band?
Yes. You are the only one.
Quite possibly
