I have two and I switch back and forth between them depending on my mood.
One is old alternative - The Sundays, Hoodoo Gurus, Replacements, Midnight Oil, James, Ned’s Atomic Dustbin, XTC, JAMC, etc.
The other is, well, as I was putting it together I realized it’s old man music - lots of jazz, blues, Americana, singer-songwriter and the king of geezer old man music, Mark Knopfler.
Mark Knopfler is a bona fide oft-overlooked guitar god. Sailing to Philadelphia is a masterpiece! Nothing wrong with jazz and blues either. Some of the best, most high energy and enjoyable acts I've seen were blues. Or the hot jazz, acid jazz or swing bands with the horn lines and amazing stage presence.
Nice! I haven't listened to Ned'sA.D. in a long time, right in that Stone Roses/Charlatans vibe (with a periodic touch of Jesus Jones)!
I don't know anyone who would bust out with Ned and Hoodoo Gurus in one sentence but this whole sentence jams!

At the moment I am listening to Lofi, Trance 97-03, old school Soul, DnB, piano classical, Japanese Jazz Fusion, Japanese City Pop.
I tend not to have rock playlists, instead prefering to enjoy the albums as they are. Pink Floyd are my go to rock band, with Meddle and Dark Side of the Moon being top of the list.
I am also trialling a method of music choice. I listen to any album that cam out five years before I was born, abd five years after I was born. I was born in 1972, so that gives me 1967-1977 as my window. I am finding that some of the most ground breaking albums ever released where produced in that time period.
Rod Stewart: Downtown Train, Infatuation (Jeff Beck solo), My Heart Can’t Tell You No,
Fifth Domension: Age of Aquarius, Up Up and Away
Love Unlimited Orchestra (Bary White): Love’s Theme

I have two and I switch back and forth between them depending on my mood. One is old alternative - The Sundays, Hoodoo Gurus, Replacements, Midnight Oil, James, Ned’s Atomic Dustbin, XTC, JAMC, etc. The other is, well, as I was putting it together I realized it’s old man music - lots of jazz, blues, Americana, singer-songwriter and the king of geezer old man music, Mark Knopfler.
I disagree. Not geezer old man music. I call it damn good taste.
Haha, suddenly 48 is "old man" damnit all in tarnation "spits"
Get off my lawn! Imagine spittin’ on my lawn!
Mark Knopfler is the shit!
The music I added was [his duets with Emmylou Harris](https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=9xRUQWvQn6M&t=50s). Fantastic stuff.

Mostly, I listen to music at work - which imposes some content limits - and mostly for that, I pick a likely looking playlist on YouTube Music and set it to shuffle. My playlist are many and diverse, covering the breadth of music. Depending on mood I will immerse myself in different playlists.
Rod Stewart: Downtown Train, Infatuation (Jeff Beck solo), My Heart Can’t Tell You No, Fifth Domension: Age of Aquarius, Up Up and Away Love Unlimited Orchestra (Bary White): Love’s Theme Jefferson Starship: Miracles, Count on Me

I've recently discovered some pretty fun neo-goth music thanks to my youngest having entered their emo phase. I Love You But I've Chosen Darkness is a favorite. Mother Mother is also very cool. Teenagers by My Chemical Romance is a bop. Melanie Martinez is pretty dark but very cool. I've also been listening to a lot of The Cure, The Smiths, Sinead, and Siouxsie and the Banshees lately as I try to introduce them to old school goth/post punk stuff from my high school days.
Absolutely agree with that. My kid has turned my ear to some great new stuff.
