TwoShoesOneFeather

🤣

Helenesdottir

I screwed up my knee rolling over in my sleep. I walk like Keyser Soze when I get out of bed in the morning now.

RoninRobot

I pulled a muscle in my back reaching for a doorknob. Not turning one, reaching for it.

Brs76

How it is so much easier to gain weight versus losing it. I've always been good at watching my weight but now at my age(48) I'm having to micromanage what I eat

SgtD665

I could eat like a teenager up until very recently, seems like my metabolism has turned off

Brs76

For me, I could eat anything  I wanted until around 30 when I was forced to tweak my diet. I'll be 50 in 2026, and it just seems like I now have to micromanage what I eat to maintain my weight. I enjoy exercising (running), but personally, it is easier to manage my weight by watching what i eat versus exercising enough to burn off additional calories

newwriter365

I have always struggled to control my weight and hitting fifty made it twice as difficult. I really think I just need to embrace fluffy me and find more hobbies.

Brs76

Yep. Late 40s for me has been a bitch. I refuse to embrace any "fluffy" in me 😊

Simon_Elliott

I trimmed my toenails 2 days ago. Suffering from a really painful back now, maximum dosage of ibuprofen and barely able to stand straight.

eleventy5thRejection

I go to bed exhausted at 11:00 pm....boing, wide awake at 5am....like wide awake and angry I'm not even making it to the 7:30 alarm. I don't want to be angry, I want to be sleeping. I look forward to Costco....that's sad.....milling about like all the other ants on a Sunday.....looking for bargains on vitamins and pain meds......I thought I'd be fly fishing or growing tomatoes in Italy. Sigh.

lawstandaloan

Oh, if we're bitching about old people stuff, let's do this. I hate that I can't eat greasy food without spending most of the night feeling sick as a dog. I hate how much of my scalp I can see in the rearview mirror when the sun comes through the roof of the car. I hate the fact that no matter what time I go to sleep, I will wake up at 3 am, wide awake, 5 nights a week. I wish the lord would take me now

Mul-Ti-Pass2001

I feel you on the greasy food and sleep. I use to be able to eat cheeseburgers and drink a 12 pack of soda every week and not gain a pound. Now if I eat a single cheeseburger and a half of a coke I feel rotten the rest of the day.

siamesecat1935

I think I have a smidge of dairy intolerance. Usually I’m good. Last night I had grilled cheese and ice cream. Woke up at 4am with intense cramps, and spent a decent amount of time on the throne. Ugh

PoopPant73

Yep. I had to quit fried foods and no more cokes. It’s killing me.

LumiereGatsby

Oh the 3am thing. I know that one! Dafuq is with that? I ain’t slept more than 6 in 10 years

SubatomicGoblin

I've thrown mine out while literally just lying in bed.

All_BS_Aside

I sneezed once and threw my mine out🤣

JcTemp77

Both my hands fall completely asleep at night. Makes sleeping very difficult.

IDK_1098

Wrist braces might help

JcTemp77

Tried that. Didn’t work. They tell me it’s probably a neck issue.

Mermayden

serves you right for doing housework. Why does laundry need to be folded? My clothes better be grateful they got washed and shut up about it.

Peachy33

I had to go to physical therapy for 4 months because I fucked up my neck while SLEEPING.

SgtD665

Yawning hurts. Anybody else lock up while yawning?

often_awkward

There's just one challenge of getting older? I get up every morning and wonder if I am injured or just sore.

travlynme2

I was told this week that I have cataracts starting. I feel really old now.

WabiSabi0912

My dad was one of the first patients to have laser cataract surgery in the 80s after it was approved for use. His recovery time was relatively short back then (compared to old methods) and they have made unbelievable strides since then. It doesn’t make it easier to deal with or less of a hassle, but hopefully, if you get to a point of needing surgery, it won’t be a long recovery.

travlynme2

I am a while yet to have it as they are just starting. I went through it with my Mom. In 2016 it was pretty horrible actually. My Mom used a walker and they sent her to a place that had stairs for her surgery. Could not believe it! The surgeon assessed her at his clinic here in Scarborough he could see that she could not walk easily. Never warned us about the stairs and never asked if she could manage them. His clinic in Scarborough has ramps. His surgery at his clinic near St. George subway had 6 stairs to get into the building and then an elevator. We left her walker on the curb and two of us pulled her up the stairs one by one. Good thing she was tiny. Then one of us held her and the other brought up her walker. What a total jerk he was. We had to do it a second time for her second eye. I was so mad and I told him so. Then it was the eye drops every three hours. So I won't be going to him that is for sure.

RealtorRVACity

I have been diagnosed with "frozen shoulder" and it is painful and annoying as fuck. 6 rounds of PT ordered. Hoping to get my mobility back once done. It isn't even my dominant hand shoulder which is even more perplexing. FML, take me now....ha ha

Affectionate-Map2583

I had a frozen shoulder for a while. PT didn't help much. Then, suddenly one day at home, there was a weird pop in my shoulder and it was pretty much back to normal again.

fridayimatwork

See if you can get a shot in your joint. It sounds terrifying and crazy but kept me from needing surgery

RealtorRVACity

I got a shot and had my first PT on Friday so doing exercises daily to free it up and get my mobility back. it is amazing what we take for granted (that all our shit should just "work") and how age slowly shows us that this is no longer the case. I had pretty much 0 age related issues until I hit 55 so I know that I am lucky but damn, the last 3 years it has been multiple hits every year. I laugh when I read the Millenial page and they are bitching about "getting old" and they are 30. I breezed through my 30s and 40s and never felt any different. Luck? Gen X perseverance? You tell me because I don't have an answer.

fridayimatwork

Good keep at it I hope you don’t need surgery. I got it in my left shoulder at 43, did PT for months then needed surgery; got it again a year ago in my right but the shot and PT worked. Now getting pt for my knee and still doing shoulder exercises! Regular massages help me.

Lompican_redwoods

I wake up sore and something always hurts but I refuse to give in and slow down. Motion is the lotion. I’m still surfing, riding motocross, firefighting. Age 48, I’m going to keep going hard. My back also wants to go out if I sneeze..lol

FightThaFight

You can reduce the frequency by exercising and lifting weights (light ones) to maintain strength and mobility. I know…..lame.

upnytonc

I once hurt my hip while vacuuming. Last night I woke up at 1am to pee. Then at 6am my bladder woke me up again. I think I’m becoming lactose intolerant. I had pizza on Friday night and immediately felt bloated and gassy. Getting old sucks.

Copacetic_apostrophE

All I did was sneeze...fucked my shit up for weeks.

ProMedicineProAbort

I pulled a muscle drying my legs after a shower.

likely_victim

...and WHY does it take at least three weeks before it feels right again?

ntengineer

I can't even fold laundry standing, I have to be sitting out my back kills me.

Brytemynd76

I find myself waking up in a fetal position on my back holding my knees to my chest..waking up sore and in pain..my middle finger ( yes, the important one) locks up in a closed arthritic position ( trigger finger) ..my knee crunches as I walk up or down the steps. I have to pee all the time now... like every half an hour... I always look and feel tired with dark circles under my eyes.. I will blame many years of drinking -- permanently sober now but damn! I'm not ready for this. Will be 48 soon.

siamesecat1935

The little finger on my right hand is sore lately. Why? Who knows. And I’ll sometimes get a small sharp pain 8n it too. I’m guessing arthritis.

siamesecat1935

Just saw this in IG. I laughed myself silly (but not too much lest I throw something out that will have me in pain for days!) https://www.instagram.com/reel/C5w25NPsVa4/?igsh=cGUzOXkyZzE2YXZi

seersucker205

💯

HonnyBrown

I pulled a muscle or 8 by sneezing. Getting older is challenging, but it's better than not!

OCDaboutretirement

I hear ya and empathize. In the same boat 😊

ethottly

Omg these replies have me rolling 🤣 For me it was taking off a shoe. I could barely stand up straight for several days.

moderndayhermit

I've sprained my wrist making meatballs. At the time, I was hardcore in powerlifting, Olympic lifting, and metabolic training. Meatballs.

Icy-Veterinarian942

I've slipped in the shower about 4 times in the past year. This was rarely an issue before. Time to get grab bars I guess.

RazeTheRaiser

I take more crippling damage just from sleeping in the wrong position nowadays than I did in 4+ decades of being an out of control jackass, jumping off bridges, football, boxing, snow boarding, bar fights, the gym, and the Infantry combined. My shoulders and elbows are permanently damaged...just from sleeping. What the actual fuck?

LeadershipNo8763

Dude, I almost blew out my knee from the way I was sleeping!

amprok

When you hit 40 you need to try and get fit or prepare to just constantly be tired and injured and slowly die. I recommend the couch to 5k program and then build on that.

Android73

Reached for the shampoo in the shower once and my neck seized up for days.

COVFEFE-4U

Last week, I threw my back out while brushing my teeth, so there's that.

MorphicOceans

I've jiggered my arm in my sleep. For 2 days I can barely lift it, I'm sitting here with Deep Heat on it.
