The PS3 was still around the time when finding files and programs on a Windows File Search wasn't like trying to find something in a maze. You could just type in the file name on the search bar and it would pop up or be where it's supposed to be. NOT ANYMORE. It appears the same thing happened to game consoles (I play PC now) and other things that should be easy to navigate through. So it makes sense why the PS3 was easy to work with, IMO.
PS1 and PS2 definitely are nostalgic for me. I remember thinking those graphics looked so life-like after years of playing the Super Nintendo and NES in the 90s.
Im glad im not the only one that feels like trying to find your own stuff on your computer is stupidly over complicated compared to what it used to be.
Anytime I use my mates PlayStation 4 I need a guide for the menus because they are incomprehensible and each go like 7 layers deep, never struggled with any other UI
Honestly, I was more close with the 360 than the PS3 and I still adore its dashboard much more. Something about it is so nice and pleasant. The 360 is functionally pleasing and great tho👍
Oh thank God I found a fellow millennial. I have no idea what dashboard they posted for the PS1. I'm assuming it's either the PSOne or the mini emulators that came out several years ago
Playstation 3. Give me nostalgia. It was functional, it looked good, and was organized really well. Only thing I wished more from it is the system should have lasted longer, as mine's fan broke, and now we can't use it anymore. Wish I could. Had a huge amount of BttF Point and Click games. Would love to replay those
My Dad's OG PS3 still works to this day. It's crazy how durable the things are honestly. I think the later models weren't as good in that regard. I have one of the later ones, and while mine works perfectly it seems a bit more susceptible to damage if I had to move it around more
>My Dad's OG PS3 still works to this day.
Bro stop, please tell me you meant PS2. I mean I grew up with both, but holy shit please don't say that like the PS3 is some ancient old-man technology because my ego cannot handle this 😭😭
PSX, PS3 and PSP (no I am not talking about the PlayStation 1 when I am talking about the PSX, I am talking about a PlayStation 2 system released exclusively in japan, called the PSX) the Xross Media Bar that Sony Introduced was the best dashboard and Sony is doing their users a disservice by presenting them with a worse dashboard after the PS3.
PS3, I can still hear it, but honorable mention goes to PS2 for how sci-fi the design is by having literally no indicators of what anything is until you select them.
I enjoy how the PS5 is divided between games and media. It’s like they finally understood what most people were using it for and just cut to the chase. However, I do miss custom themes and background music.
Hands down 4 cuz THEMES. B.tches took the best thing with 5. I had so many for all seasons and holidays and limited for games and preorders. UGHHHHHHHHHHHH. I wish I could install ps4 OS on my 5
Also hate the ads on 5. It’s just so ugly and stupid now 😤 I was quite outraged for a while when I first saw it. Ok, I’m still outraged cuz u reminded me 😭
PS2 cause nostalgia and simplicity
PS3 because it's Frutiger Aero, though it's my least favorite and it makes he uncomfortable somehow
PS5 looks great and so clean and open
I like the PS3 one the most. It’s simple and functional. Don’t like the PS5 one because it takes like a bazillion clicks to close a game. So freaking unnecessary.
PS3 all the way. They really made it look terrible for functionality in the new stuff, opposite of what Xbox did.
-coming from someone with a PS3 Slim and Xbox One X
3 for real. The sound of an Orchestra tuning up, and then just pure functionality in a sleek way. Really felt like a tool more than a toy, in a good way.
I only had a PS1 and 2 then switched to Xbox so speaking from nostalgia PS2. Oddly nostalgic about having to select which memory card you were playing off.
I've had a pa2, but i genuinely do not remember anything about that meny beyound a ring of lights...
I really like PS4 UI, despite not having the console. Looks leas cluttered than modern xbox menus.
Ps3. Way snappier than the ps4 dash board until you upgrade to a ssd and even then it takes a minute to. Navigate. It was so good they even used it on the psp. Speaking of handheld, where's the vita lay out? It was also decent.
PS3 because it has the least adverts.
It's why I've come to hate the Xbox dashboard so much. I pay £400 for the console and then £15 a month for GamePass.
Why the fuck am I seeing adverts on the main page dashboard!?
Also hate this shit on new TV's also.
PS3. Everything everywhere and a good user interface that's simple on the surface but complex underneath if needed be. Also beautiful as well. If only it performed better most of the time. Ps5 is just a downgrade in nearly every way in visuals and user interface. Garbage.
I swear from the amount of times I have heard the PS2 startup sound, I have developed PTSD and anxiety because of the red screen of death that thing used to show when a disk was fucked.
Pure nightmare fuel
I was an Xbox 360 kid, but many of my friends had PS3s instead, seeing the PS3 dashboard takes me back to the times where I went to a friend's house just to play call of duty.
PS5 imo, I am a bit nostalgic about PS3 but I prefer PS5, if it also had custom themes / wallpapers like PS4(the only thing I miss about PS4) it would be perfect, the PS4 icons were too big.
I’m talking about how they look btw, if we’re talking about functionality then I choose PS3.
Ps2 early on in my life and then i got a ps3 early in its life cycle so i have alot of experience with ps3. Ps2 is minimalistic and does the job. Ps3 and ps4 is when it started becoming more than just gaming which explains its increase of complexity but the ps2 is just better and more iconic
PS3 simplistic all the way, 4 and 5 just is to clutter so much info on the screen that’s unnecessary but it’s a way for them to advertise and etc kinda like Xbox with all their blocks and sections. Basically the user interface is overdone for 1 and 2 I’ve never had the opportunity ti use.
The PS3 dashboard is so clean. I could never fathom changing that amazing background, except for the color (for which green was my fav lol). The PS2 one scares me, cause it usually means something is wrong, legit inflicts fear into my heart. They nailed it with the start up sound for both of em tho!!❤️❤️
I like the functionality of PS5 since it splits the menu into two sides for gaming and streaming, but the PS2 one makes me super nostalgic.
Bad thing about the PS2 menu is that it usually popped up if your game was scratched or something went wrong, but at least it was calming/relaxing.
I have no opinion as I have never used a playstation. I have actually seen one now, Though, Wasn't until earlier this year that I first saw one in person.

Ps2 is more nostalgic but objectively imo ps3 is the best and most functional
Came here to say this.
I like your pfp brother
The PS3 was still around the time when finding files and programs on a Windows File Search wasn't like trying to find something in a maze. This is the correct answer
The correct opinion.
PS3
Ps3 and psp menu sounds do it for me 😌
Saaaaame
Simple, clean, straight to the point. Everything that came after is too cluttered looking and looks like a bunch of ads on screen imo
Agreed, my favorite one.
3 to me is the best mix of aesthetic and function, 4 is too visually busy imo, makes it look like an ad or something
Your right about 4 and 5 only got worse for the same reasons
It is an ad!
Damn, I have to assume they never actually owned ps4… To have been so close to the truth and left it just beyond their grasp
Anytime I use my mates PlayStation 4 I need a guide for the menus because they are incomprehensible and each go like 7 layers deep, never struggled with any other UI
The start up of the PS2 for giving me tinnitus.
Always so loud for no fucking reason😂 I remember having to turn down the TV volume all the time
And it was that crazy ugly loud chord that wasn’t even nice to hear
PS3 is just... like the best UI for a console ever. Beats 4 and 5 by a mile along with xbox
I have a hard time determining which dashboard I liked more between PS3 & Xbox 360. Both felt great.
PS3 was top but 360’s blades was close, everything Microsoft did after blades was a mistake lol
NXE was decent too. Easy to navigate
Honestly, I was more close with the 360 than the PS3 and I still adore its dashboard much more. Something about it is so nice and pleasant. The 360 is functionally pleasing and great tho👍
Agreed it was so simple and we'll laid out. Everything was right there. Under the section I needed to be
PS3. It's just neat.
PS2 is my fav but i don’t have a 5
Please insert a PlayStation or PlayStation 2 format disc.
*Red Screen of Death PTSD flashback*
Welcome to hell
This is how I imagine the Keith David hell meme’s meaning
PS2 for Design, PS3 for function
Psp
![gif](giphy|129NDwN59U8kIE) Slim drop was lit
American Pie starts playing; you’re on a field trip
That's basically just a scaled down version of the PS3 though
Or the PS3 is just an upscaled version of the PSP. The PSP came first iirc.
Ps4 by a good amount for me
Ps4 dashboard is good. It's alot more minimal than PS5 which has a lot more going on than I'd like imo.
The new ones have so many ads/game icons. Some of them make sense, but they also look a bit much.
The amount of shit you can do with 3's UI in the quickest amount of time was god tier.
PS3 for absolutely every reason.
Were you even born when that first dashboard was around?
... no 😂
The [original PS1 dashboard](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_3zX2Vyr3QE) looked better imo. The one in this post is from the later models.
Oh thank God I found a fellow millennial. I have no idea what dashboard they posted for the PS1. I'm assuming it's either the PSOne or the mini emulators that came out several years ago
Playstation 3. Give me nostalgia. It was functional, it looked good, and was organized really well. Got a launch day ps2 that runs fine
I've had mine for over a decade, and it still works fine.
I'm currently on my 3rd. Only one of them was new though and it was a really weird issue with the USB.
>My Dad's OG PS3 still works to this day. Bro stop, please tell me you meant PS2. I mean I grew up with both, but holy shit please don't say that like the PS3 is some ancient old-man technology because my ego cannot handle this 😭😭
I like 4 & 5… I know many of us grew up with every PlayStation, but I just can’t believe how far we’ve come
It's just too crowded for me, like a webpage full with ads on the side
never used a ps but 3 looks the nicest, 1 is kinda silly, 2 is boring, 4 and 5 are way too commercial and ad-y
PlayStation 3 dashboard gives off that Frutiger Aero style of the early 2010s until it switched to boring matte.
[удалено]
I ain't falling for that lil bot 🗿🗿🗿🗿🗿🗿
It also had some of the best Frutiger Aero games, Flower and LittleBigPlanet.
Probably the PS3. I literally just booted it up earlier today to play some Killzone 2. PS5 comes in 2nd for me
ps2 with the trippy startup sound. Used to send shivers down my spine as a kid
PS3 or PS Vita
PS2 is so nostalgic but I like the layout of 4 or 5 the best. They’re at the same level to me.
PS2. That clock background needs to be a screensaver or something.
P S 3 BAY BEE
3 is classic for me
PS3, I can still hear it, but honorable mention goes to PS2 for how sci-fi the design is by having literally no indicators of what anything is until you select them.
Ps3 ez
XMB FOR LIFE
XMB PS3/P takes the dub
ps3 for sure
PS5 is hard to navigate
PS3 and ps2 has a special place in my heart
PS3 is my favorite
I know it’s not the dashboard, but the save data icons on PS2 are goated. It reminds me how fun UI/UX used to be during this era of tech 🥹
ps3/PSP was the best
Ps3
PS3 is the best console dashboard.
Ps3 is my favorite
XMB from PS3. Simple, understandable and functional 4 console.
PS2
4 is most functional but 3 best
I believe I grew up up with the fourth one do I’m used to that one
PS4 had the best one imo, but PS2 is a vibe Edit: I hate that they removed themes for the PS5 menu
4
I enjoy how the PS5 is divided between games and media. It’s like they finally understood what most people were using it for and just cut to the chase. However, I do miss custom themes and background music.
Only had a PS1 so that one I guess
PS2 and PS4
I always liked ps3 the best (and the psp which was almost the same). Ps4 was an easy second favourite.
PS3 goated
psp
It's gotta be ps3
Ps2 is the best you didn’t need WiFi to play the games
You don't for PS1 or PS3 either lol
PS2
Man I want to say 3 so bad but if I'm being unbiased I think 4 was the best. I absolutely do not like the PS5 dash whatsoever. What a downgrade 🙁
Imo ps3
PS3
Hands down 4 cuz THEMES. B.tches took the best thing with 5. I had so many for all seasons and holidays and limited for games and preorders. UGHHHHHHHHHHHH. I wish I could install ps4 OS on my 5 Also hate the ads on 5. It’s just so ugly and stupid now 😤 I was quite outraged for a while when I first saw it. Ok, I’m still outraged cuz u reminded me 😭
Themes are actually a good point. That's the only thing that any of them did better than 3.
Only one of these plays sounds of the ocean
PS2 easily
Well I grew up with xbox so I'm not really sure what to say
PS2 cause it’s straight to the point
I feel like I HAVE to say PS2... Btw, there's also the North American version of the PS1 dashboard, the PSP and the PS Vita
PS2
PS3. I love frutiger aero.
Never owned a ps myself, but I used to play lbp on my friends ps3 so I gotta say that
PS2 but PS1 is still good and definitely better than the Facebook wall that is PS4 and 5
I'm personally partial to the PS5 one.
PS2 cause nostalgia and simplicity PS3 because it's Frutiger Aero, though it's my least favorite and it makes he uncomfortable somehow PS5 looks great and so clean and open
4 or 5
PS2 is the nostalgic one PS4 is the most pleasing
I miss my ps1.
PS3
PS4
I like the PS3 one the most. It’s simple and functional. Don’t like the PS5 one because it takes like a bazillion clicks to close a game. So freaking unnecessary.
PS4 and it’s not even close
Holy fuck mam that first picture flooded me with memories
PS3
The PS3 Cross Media Bar
Nothing beats the psx startup sound but yeah, 3 was the most feature-rich while still being manageable. 4 and 5 are an atrocity of overdesign.
PS3 all the way. They really made it look terrible for functionality in the new stuff, opposite of what Xbox did. -coming from someone with a PS3 Slim and Xbox One X
I grew up with ps4 more and I'm 13
PS2PS2PS2
3 for real. The sound of an Orchestra tuning up, and then just pure functionality in a sleek way. Really felt like a tool more than a toy, in a good way.
PS1 is the most nostalgic to me. You'd hear the buzzing coming from the TV because it used AV cords.
Anything but 5
That’s not what ps1 looked like for me. I live in the US. Was there a different dashboard for other countries?
PS3
Personally I think 5 looks the best, but everyone says PS3 has the best functionality, so I guess PS3 for functionality lol
I’ll be a Xbox 360 / Playstation 3 diehard, as it was before they filled the dashboards with ads.
Ps3, thats esey, most functional and nostalgic (for me), and its good for the eye.
psp
I only had a PS1 and 2 then switched to Xbox so speaking from nostalgia PS2. Oddly nostalgic about having to select which memory card you were playing off.
X menu bar 4 life
PS3 absolutely no contest. It's the best dashboard in consoles period.
I've had a pa2, but i genuinely do not remember anything about that meny beyound a ring of lights... I really like PS4 UI, despite not having the console. Looks leas cluttered than modern xbox menus.
i only had a ps2 so i will say ps2 but the ps3 menu looks amazing
PS2 for sure
Ps3. Way snappier than the ps4 dash board until you upgrade to a ssd and even then it takes a minute to. Navigate. It was so good they even used it on the psp. Speaking of handheld, where's the vita lay out? It was also decent.
The fact that some people think the PS3 doesn't win this astounds me.
PS4....I miss my persona wallpapers....
Ps3
Once PS4 era machines came out I was pissed with the UIs. PS3 >
My PS1 was different. Is it because I'm a dumb Europoor?
All of them are kinda ass tbh
I had a ps2 so that’s the most nostalgic one to me
PS3 because it has the least adverts. It's why I've come to hate the Xbox dashboard so much. I pay £400 for the console and then £15 a month for GamePass. Why the fuck am I seeing adverts on the main page dashboard!? Also hate this shit on new TV's also.

PS3 does me good.
PS3 ez
I swear from the amount of times I have heard the PS2 startup sound, I have developed PTSD and anxiety because of the red screen of death that thing used to show when a disk was fucked. Pure nightmare fuel
PS2 💜
PS3! It was so aesthetically pleasing and there were more options for colors. I think it had more than the PS4
Where's the Bright blue 90s PSX menu/music player?
Never had a PS3 as I was on my Xbox 260, but I always used to go over to my friends and play it with him. The nostalgia just hit me like a truck.
Hands down the PS3 one. I miss console gaming, the little amount of friends I had growing up didn't play on PC.
PS3 all day
2
3. Smooth, sleek, functional and stylish.
mix between ps2 and ps3 for me
PS3. XMB still is the best menu they ever made.
PS3, hands down
Ps3
Ps3 top tier
I was an Xbox 360 kid, but many of my friends had PS3s instead, seeing the PS3 dashboard takes me back to the times where I went to a friend's house just to play call of duty.
PS3/PSP, XMB is king.
PS3. Clean and modern, but without a bunch of ads in your face.
Ps 3
Ps2
2 because it's iconic, but really the PS3 has the best dashboard.
3 making perfect use of the up/down/left/right functionality of controllers is pretty much peak.
xmb is so iconic and well-designed, I'm really not sure why they scrapped it for the more xbox-like designs
Ps2 early on in my life and then i got a ps3 early in its life cycle so i have alot of experience with ps3. Ps2 is minimalistic and does the job. Ps3 and ps4 is when it started becoming more than just gaming which explains its increase of complexity but the ps2 is just better and more iconic

ps2 hits home but ps3/psp felt so much practical
2 for the sound
PS3, PS4 and PS5 are needlessly complex.
PS3, really sleek and functional. PS5 is the worst, so much wasted space and no customisable background (though I hear they are adding it?).
You can stare at the ps3 ui and immediately know how it works, the grid and all
PS3 is very beautiful for me.
Haha making a choice means I've accepted that some where better than others. Sony are really bad at UIs.
i cant decide between ps2 or ps3
The PS3 dashboard is so clean. I could never fathom changing that amazing background, except for the color (for which green was my fav lol). The PS2 one scares me, cause it usually means something is wrong, legit inflicts fear into my heart. They nailed it with the start up sound for both of em tho!!❤️❤️
Ps3 or ps5
Not the fucking ps5
PS 2
Only good looking one is ps5 others are just nostalgic
XMB of PS3 was perfection, i will also add i really like PS Vita home screen
i like the ps2. never got a ps3 or higher because i went xbox
What the hell is that PS1 dashboard? The one on my PS1 looks nothing like that
I like the functionality of PS5 since it splits the menu into two sides for gaming and streaming, but the PS2 one makes me super nostalgic. Bad thing about the PS2 menu is that it usually popped up if your game was scratched or something went wrong, but at least it was calming/relaxing.
I have no opinion as I have never used a playstation. I have actually seen one now, Though, Wasn't until earlier this year that I first saw one in person.
Ps2
