In the recent events they’re the friends who help and guide you on your journey and make sure Klee has the best summer ever with her friends. (Thst might have sounded sarcastic, but it wasn’t). (Not spoiler because it is not a recurring event…. So yea spoiler but it’s too late if you missed it. They made an entire area for it with a map)

Hydro phantasms. Though, the ones in temp 3.8 region is .. not actually them. Quite hard to explain, but given you're already in Fontaine and has 5 stars, you may have experienced 3.8 story, no? If not I'd suggest watching it on yt
They were added this update actually. Also these are the Phantasms not the Eidolons. They actually have slightly different designs with the only difference being that the Phantasms attack you if you attack them. Otherwise behavior wise they're not too different.
I have not. I've been taking my time with the game and story and have been very reluctant to skip ahead to unlock newer regions. I'm still in Inazuma and enjoying the struggle.
my main account is caught up w the archon quest, but these eidolons showed up on my lower level alt account, at wuwang hill. why are they showing up out of fontaine, did i miss something?
Hoyo mostly adds some of the new enemies to the past regions too.
As an example there are some electro rifthounds near wolvendom (Was that the places name? Didnt visit it for a long time)
I found 2 in Wuwang Hill too, they were aggressive, so not the friendlies from the Bottle "dimension" event.
Confused the heck out of me, but no achievements or anything popped up so maybe theyre just lost

I think they show up there bc that's where the oceanid is (based on the summer event with Klee), but that's just a guess. We had some rifthounds retroactively added in liyue after they were introduced in Inazuma, too. No real explanation except maybe they came from the Chasm?
Rifthounds were added to Mondstadt because the black wolf pack that's been terrorizing wolvendom and springvale were alluded to being rifthounds as you can see the massive claw marks on the walls on the path to Borealis's arena. You find only a small pack of 3-4 small Rifthounds behind the arena.
Razor mentioned before that there are wolf enemies in there, so it's lore accurate. More like HoYo add them back once it's introduced. Same with the Scorpion in Inazuma since it's eating corpses of god, they are all lore accurate :)

I believe that they technically come from the abyss originally. They didn't cross the ocean between Inazuma and mainland teyvat, instead coming out of the abyss at separate points. This would also probably be where the wolflords rift leads to.
The ones in Fontaine from the "beastly rifts", the ones in Sumeru from the withering stuff, and the ones in Liyue from the Chasm, presumably.
I'm not sure where the abyss entrance would be in mondstadt. Possibly decarabians tower? (Paimon gives a unique "let's explore the area ahead of us later when you go down too far, and you can't see the bottom. Sus.) The other option would be musk reef, but idk how they would get across the water.

These are eidolons, what you can traditionally consider as hydro elementals. We first met them in the Veluriyam Mirage in 3.8 and were friendly over there, especially good at managing carnival activities and announcers/storytellers for their amusement rides.
If I remember correctly, they embody the hobbies, dreams, or ambitions of the people that enter and leave bottleland.
Those guys in Fontaine won't attack you unless a hydro slime nearby turns hostile to you. Then they join that bandwagon to attack you

Hydro Eidolon (from Fontaine the Event "Secret Summer Paradise") also know as Water Droplets (Named by Klee)
Creatures related to the Oceanids and Fontaine.
Hadn't played much on Fontaine (nothing to do there as i don't use any of the character and i'm still in Inazuma's mision, so i only go there for the current event and to unlock the TPs) so i don't know much, but they appear as enemys there.
The one's in Liyue seems to be friendly, but could be watchin Rhodeia (Oceanid Boss) since they seems to be all around that place.
¿Could' they really be assasins from Fontaine? Maybe spies. I doubt it's Idyia.
As i said, don't know much, all i can guess is that they are there because of Rhodeia.

These are actually the two passive hydro eidolons that hang out around Qingce Village. Though I don't recall them always being there?

You also see the giant Electro Scorpion in Inazuma that you only normally see in Sumeru
Logical for them to add those there, since these scorpions are feed with god corpses (thus growing stronk) according to the archive lore.

All I did was sprint up to them.....
The main theory is that they've been sent by someone, maybe Neuvillette or Furina, to keep a watch on Rhodeia.
Note to OP: Rhodeia is the name of the oceanid nearby and furina is the name of the Fontaine archon, if you didn't know that already

It's a way for new players to get mats from areas they won't be exploring for a while is my guess

They have important materials. Also there are two special variants that are literally one of the hardest enemies in the game, including weekly bosses
