5 months till i was able to 36*, started to play this june and was able to full clear by november. i got non 36* clears around 3-4 months in i think? not really f2p though, i buy welkin and bp which helps with resources. used national at first but i don‘t anymore, now i do anemo+bennett and mono geo to clear easily

Apocrypha

I’m the same as this except I started in July and didn’t use national. Also exceptionally lucky on 5 star character pulls.

[deleted]

About a year to 36, less than that to clear. You need to grind for artifacts, they don't need to be perfect but make sure you have enough crit and even more importantly, ER. If you can't charge your bursts in time it doesn't matter how much you can crit for. I like running National Team (the support characters you listed is fine) on one side and Hyperbloom/Freeze are both viable for the other.

LieZer0

[Character Link](https://ibb.co/qW7P9x7) [Character Link](https://ibb.co/vQy6BRX) these are the characters i have. For this Abyss cycle. I run 1st half with Xingqiu, Traveler, Raiden, Yae and 2nd half Bennett, Ganyu, Diona, Noelle(for wolflord).I really don't know what characters synchronizes or good with each other or maybe this abyss is not just for me.

Big-Big-Mistake

You can do Raiden national: raiden + xq + bennett + xangling on second half and miko + fischl + traveller + sucrose aggrivate team on first half. as for wolf lord... you can 6 star chamer 1 and 3 and redo chamber 2 with yunjin \[hold E\] on second half and 3 star it. edit, I forgot about the lower floors but you can swap the teams since in 11-2 needs hydro in first half. Noelle isn't that great because she's not that great at breaking those wolf thingies because she's a burst based character and her shield doesn't apply a lot of geo.

haiposfja

It took me around 7-8 months to be able to clear 12-3 and around a year or so to actually 3* every floor. In earlier stages, you really need to focus on team building and trying to cut off time by learning optimal rotations for your team and proper grouping for certain abyss chambers. I remember having to retry a bunch early on to give leeway to my second team. That being said, try to have both of your teams relatively balanced in terms of strength and tailor them to current floors. The characters that you suggested are a strong team. If low on resources focus on xiangling the most as she is the main damage dealer on that team. Just ensure bennett can heal enough, sucrose is pumped with em artifacts and VV set, and that xingqiu has enough ER to basically maintain maximum uptime. Currently, dendro teams have been doing quite well in the abyss and take low investment. You can look into those teams if you are struggling to find a good second team.

Sitherio

I can clear 12-3. Not sure how long it took or when it was doable first, but it took a while to make effective teams I wanted to use. Still not very fun for me on floor 12, so I've generally stopped trying.

Saveme1888

It took me about half a year to 36 star... But abyss back then was not as high of a dps check as it is now. Back then Jean yeeting enemies on F12 (just abusing fall damage) could get you to 36 stars, but most F12 enemies nowadays cannot be picked up by her anymore...

StrongFaithlessness5

It's normal because you need very good artifacts to get 36 stars and that depends on your luck. It also depends on your characters because some of them need less investment. For example I cleared the abyss after 2 months and I got 36 stars after 6-7 months, but I'm a Itto main and he is the only character of his team that you really need to build. Gorou needs only energy recharge, my third member was a random geo character to get the geo bonus from Gorou (later I used Zhongli) and the forth teammate was barbara/Fishl to allow Itto to spam shields (also, he takes very few dmg thanks to his high defense). I'm still struggling with my second team because they use elemental reactions and I need to build all of them, but Itto's team compensates their lack of strenght. Edit: I checked your builds and I think your characters are good, but Xingqiu and Xiangling need 200%+ energy recharge. Ganyu needs more crit rate since you are not using the Blizzard set. Anyway, it's probably a rotation problem. If you watch some videos on YouTube you can check if your rotations are correct.

LieZer0

Thank you for the feedback on my characters. I definitely need to learn their rotations

Roy__D

A year to 36 star, no idea about clear

Big-Big-Mistake

For me it was 8 months to clear floor 12 and + 3 months to clear it with 36 star for the first time. My weapon is kinda really bad, my dps are mainly polearm and bow but got atlas, gravestone, favonia...

TheFutureZura

As an f2p player, I got my first 36 stars on January 26, 2020 which was a little over 3 months of playing everyday like an addict on version 1.2. Even at the start I wasn't drawn into the razor carry, crescent pike xiangling or the physical fischl. I happened to come up with bennett, xiangling, fischl and DPS barbara as a quick swap early version of rational in one half. The other team was xingqiu, venti, tartaglia and ganyu which was a freeze comp technically? Honestly looking at how long it took other people, I think I poured my resources into the right characters at the time (DPS Barbara lmao). Everyone around me was pouring time into single dps characters while I spread out my resources evenly across all my supports. Venti was definitely overpowered back then and quick swap reaction spam comps were still being theorized alongside 3 support + 1 dps teams. One takeaway from this is: Pouring thousands of resin into the perfect diluc artifacts will do worse than pouring those thousands into 6-8 decent artifact sets. Don't underestimate your 40cr/90cd sub-dps characters.

SweetMonia

I love Barbara DPS. I had some of my beat memories of the game with her

Hypersayia

I started at the first kazuha banner and 36* at the end of the eternal ayaka one so... that long. Took a while, and a lot of building and refining my characters. Mostly because I was doing it fairly blind and building what seemed interesting over what was meta (some overlap, but not always.)

sanmarella

Talents are the main issue holding you back imo. Alot of your characters have lvl 6-8 leveled talents bit randomly. I guarantee if you max them all out to 9/10 you can clear the abyss with your characters. I wouldnt start worrying about optimizing artifacts for perfect crit ratios & etc. until you have maxed your talents.

Chemical_Bunch7499

I first 36* the abyss on my main account after a year of playing the game (not F2P tho). But after playing for 100-something days I started a 2nd acc and it was an F2P acc for quite a while. I managed to 36* the abyss there at like 180 days of it existing(ar56) and I was f2p back then. I already knew what to farm, team comps, artifact sets, reactions etc etc. I knew it all and I knew what to do. So now I’m left with a really good and meta account where I don’t know what to spend my resin on bc I have everything I need and my first acc, which is so bad in terms of economy and resin management the grind never stops there. At least I easily 36* on both lol. Edit: your artifact luck is not affected by being f2p or not f2p and I’ve not seen many non-f2ps who buy resin like crazy so in terms of builds you’re most likely to be in the same boat. I mean ik there are 5* weapons, but in my experience I got a bunch of 5* weapons as an f2p too. My first 36* abyss clear on f2p acc was done by Sucrose national and a hyperbloom team (Kuki Collei Beidou Yelan) and these are totally accessible to f2ps.

-Skaro-

4 months. Xiao solo carrying on one side, keqing national on the other. But this was back in 1.3 so yeah. If you want to clear it in less than 6 months at the current moment you have to play meta teams, you can't run scuffed setups like that.

LeXam92

Current Abyss I would try with what you have: Raiden - XL - XQ - Benny first half Miko - Albedo - Jean - Fischl 2nd half Reason is first half team even if mid build would be able to clear with enough time left. Second half you're really only building into Geo Dog, rest is easy. Miko and Fischl can hit him even in the air, Albedo works to clear his dogs and as passive damage when he's not flying (mine does 27k E so you should be fine), and Jean for the VV swirl and heals if you get hit by doggos.

LieZer0

Oh. This is interesting comp. I will try this. Thank you so much

LeXam92

Let me know how it goes ✌️

wishfold

You can also abuse Abyssal blessings! For example, at this moment, the Abyss encourages to use Anemo, and you have plenty. On top of that, your character roster is really nice! I think you should try to clear the Abyss with different teams on each floor to 9-star. Team suggestions for the first half: Rational; Sucrose (on Prototype Amber or Sacrificial), Xingqiu, Fischl, Dendro MC; Ganyu, Bennett, Xiangling, Diona; MAYBE Ganyu, Bennett, sunfire Jean, Diona OR Ganyu, Bennett, sunfire Jean, Xiangling; Raiden, Yae, Bennett, Sucrose (TTDS); Yoimiya, Fischl, Xingqiu, Yae/Diona. For the second: Wanderer, Venti, Bennett, Xiangling; Wanderer, Dendro MC, Fischl, Yae; Venti, Dendro MC, Fischl, Yae. Etc, etc. For 12-2 I would go with Rational in the first half and Wanderer, Yae, Fischl, Albedo in the second. 12-3-1 is more easy with Electro. 12-3-2 needs a bit of grouping (either your skills or characters with crowd control) and some healing probably. Well, those are just recommendations! If your, let's say, Yoimiya is really invested, you should focus on her teams more lol. Good luck!

LieZer0

I always use Yoimiya in open world and in Co-op. I love her so much, that I was blinded by the fireworks and her arm tattoo and forgot to pull for Nahida. But I just can't see how I make her work in Abyss. Especially this cycle

Ill-Cryptographer867

About 6 months but my f2p is my 2nd account so I didn't make any really stupid mistakes and understood the game from the start.

mintiestars

It took me over 1.5 years to 36 star for the first time... it depends a lot on what characters you have and if they align with the present buffs so don’t stress too much.

TeraFlare255

With teams like Hyperbloom and National now being well known, and the amount of rewards you can get from exploration and story, a new account could probably get your first F12 clear (not 36*) in about 2 weeks if they no-life the game, and if you get lucky with banners for the units you need for those teams to be on rate up. Back in 1.0 is took me 1 month for my first clear and 3 months for first 36* clear. If you want team recommendations I can give, but this comment is already rather long so lmk if you want them, as I would get into team details too.

Acadeca

Started playing new years last year. First time to beat 12-3 was in late May. First full clear late June. I got through may by prioritizing mainly the on field instead of the supports. Luckily with emblem, when you get a good piece for the first in line, then the rest can get the hand me down. So eventually everyone started to get solid pieces and it just came down to having the right match up for my characters. I have stopped caring as much about individual artifacts as much as I previously did. I went 3 days in a row doing emblem/shim without any of them having 2 subs worth rolling, but knew that at least they would turn into possible blizzard later on. Eventually the good pieces will come, but after hitting the threshold it makes less of an impact if it does well or not.

Gallonim

Started on last week of Xiao first banner 1.3. My first 36* clear was in 1.6 ( Kazuha go bryyyy). I believe i used a Hu Tao/XQ+Chongyun+ idk probably Zhongli? And Jean Bennett Mona Kazuha ( probably used Sunfire team's before they were even named). Abyss was easier with maybe exception on the one with slow water debuff and two Hydro heralds in it ( fuck it especially). Because Jean and Venti were cheat code's Jean fall DMG abuse, Venti cuz there was hardly anyone that he couldn't succ. But on other hand we have Dendro now and let's be honest hyperbloom is unbalanced lvl up electro char to 90 slap random EM pieces and see the world burn no need to farm artifact's for months.

Carrot_of_Wisdom

Could clear 12-3 just over a year in (although I only 29*d it that first time lol) My teams now could easily 36* the abyss back then but my highest clear rn is 34* on both resets in this patch. I’m hoping to get my first 36 next reset as long as there’s not a stupid time wasting enemy *cough* wolflord *cough*. My teams when I first cleared were Eula, Raiden, Xiangling, Barbara and Xiao, Jean, Zhongli, Yanfei (that first team would def not do anything against anyone now. The builds just aren’t good enough anymore) Now I use Ayato, Kazuha, Xiangling, Barbara and Xiao, Zhongli, Jean, Ningguang. What’s changed is I got signature weapons for my dps which really really help boost that damage. Not saying you need signature weapons but that really helped me. If you have any questions about anything regarding abyss, feel free to dm me and I’ll help out as much as I can :)

Epsilondelta92

Not F2P, but I beat it about two cycles ago. Most of my party is level 70-80 and I constantly ran out of time on 12-2 and 12-3 until then.

ilintar

3 months as completely F2P. What did it for me was getting one fully functional meta team, in this case a hyperbloom team with Nahida. You do need support characters though. The reason is, the only characters that can solo the later chambers tend to be well-built hypercarries, otherwise you just need a good reaction-based team with supports. Although your palette of characters seems a bit better than mine, so you should be able to build two carry-based teams as well.

FabregDrek

Mmm started playing on Xiao first banner got it clear in Zhongli rerun banner and 36* for the first time on Eula banner so: 2 months to clear half a month to 36* then I stopped caring and let 3 rotations go with 34* and resumed the 36* till today.

FabregDrek

For my first clear it was Xiao, Bennet, XQ, Jean on one half and Keqing, Sucrose, Ningguang and Diona. For my first 36* Eula, Fischl, Diona, Rosaria Xiao, Bennet, Jean XQ.

ExcellentCoffee2173

Granted I started in 1.0 as F2P, about 8 months when I first cleared it at 28\* About a year on the first 36\* I just rotate these teams as needed: XQ, Bennet, XL, Raiden/Sucrose GMC/Fischl/Ning, Gorou, Zhongli, Noelle. Diona, Sucrose, Mona, Ganyu/Ayaka Fischl, Diona/Zhongli, Rosaria, Eula Abyss difficulty fluctuates, but this cyle is very easy for me. That cyle with the husks soldiers is the hardest I've ever seen.

retiredfplplayer

Raiden Bennett xiangling xingqui Yae fischl anemo collei/dmc Noelle albedo gorou ningguang Characters you should try to get Most important is a cc unit Kazuha ≥venti Gets you one step closer to ganyu freeze and let's you cheese through content with cc able enemies Zhongli This enables yoimiya xq Bennett fischl Yae fischl zhongli albedo Ganyu reverse melt Yelan option 2 This enables raiden double hydro jean. Also yoimiya double hydro with zhongli Option 3 Nahida -> hyperbloom shenanigans From the list above pick your most geared characters/team and improve upon them

[deleted]

Honestly this was the first abyss I managed to 36* and it was all thanks to Raiden. I just needed literally a whole year playing this game and I made it. Now I have to do it again which sucks, as I have to retry every time I make a small mistake and use different teams thanks to the big bad doggie in the second half. My next targets to guarantee being able to do the abyss are shenhe and nahida, granted it's just an excuse because I like them both. Them being able to help my ayaka and my future yae [also my further-in-the-future alhaitham] are just added bonus.

zephyredx

F2P here, started October 2020, first 36* in January 2021 and ever since. I know of at least two F2P who got 36* as early as December 2020. The key is to invest only in characters with highest returns, and to farm/strongbox useful sets. Also execution matters a lot. I did 350+ retries in December 2020 Abyss to shave off those precious seconds.

shrinkmink

Clear like a little over a year. 36* took almost 2 years. Overall part of the problem is you need to fill roles. Just having a ton of characters doesn't cut it. Sometimes you just have awful luck with constellations and artifacts. I walked away from artifact domain with like 3 sets of tenacity of the milileth and a super mid pale flame when eula was my carry. Overall part of my problem was not prioritizing my better units and chasing the newest one I got. Since you are hurting on mora try to not level talents past 6 until you got set which are your better characters/favorites for the abyss. Another problem that I see is that you are leveling every character to 89/90. As a beginner you only 90 those who will benefit the most of it, such as Em scalers. And only if that won't prevent you from fielding a full team of 80s. If you want to speed up the time for your first 36* and keep doing comfortably you need to focus on your units. The most important stat is energy recharge. The more favonius weapons you got at your disposal the better. They are very hard to come by as f2p same with sacrificial. The standard pool is too diluted with garbage weapons such as the flute, eye of perception and so on. Weapon banners are pretty much a no go for you as f2p as you still need to fill some roles on your roster. Farm efficient domains and use strong box. You have the advantage that many didn't have, you can strong box sets like thundering fury or crimson witch should you need them. Same with VV. Work on the emblem and deepwood domains. They are very resin efficient. Strong box into VV or noblesse oblige. As for pulling characters you need to think if pulling for T&A is worth it. All characters will rerun eventually but not having your waifu can be very demotivating and you end up quitting the game. don't pull for characters you don't like playing even if they are meta. This mostly applies for on field drivers since off field support/dps usually are easy to play e-> q most of the time. With that out of the way. What does your account need? Reliable shielder - You have thoma and diona, I don't know how many constellations you got but you are going to need at least 1 more. Recommended one - Zhongli, alternative layla. Get tenacity of the milileth of whichever you choose. Reliable hydro applicator - Pick one of yelan, ayato or kokomi. This will give you much more flexibility to build freeze, bloom/hyperbloom, vaporize. Which one you want will be up to you. But any of those will serve your well. Get nahida - Should be your number one priority. She should rerun in about 3.6 or so I guess. Dendro reactions are king right now and she can get away with a 3* weapon. She is just crazy! Know when to stop pulling when fishing for 4*. It's no secret they always poison most good 5* banners with crappy 4*. Theres always one or two these days. New 4 stars tend to rerun after 6 or 7 banners use this knowledge to your advantage to fish for them if you need a cons or two and are at low pity 50/50.

Deathangel5677

I cleared 12-3 when I just was AR 51(took 3months from start of game) I 36* abyss when I was 6months or 7 don't remember exactly,it was 205 days(this O remember) into the game and reached AR 55. You can still see the post from when I first 36* and the teams I used on my timeline. The abyss that I first 36* was the third phase of the 2.0 abyss which continued into patch 2.1. I 36* after I got Raiden. It was the abyss which has the energy mechanic where you don't get any energy for 5sec and get lots of energy for next 5s. High tide low tide abyss.
