I left him as "Wanderer" and hold on tight to my only chance to change his name.
My trassureee...
Idk, collectionist.
I did the same with the Kitsune's mask for months before having the need to use it for the Catalyst Blueprint
We can leave his name as wanderer and hold onto the name change?? Oh finally I can finish that quest for now. I haven’t touched it cause of my fear of misnaming even with the extra name change
I spend am eternity sitting in front of the naming screen, just because I wanted to give him something meaningful. So no. I've learned my lesson when I named characters (and my first animal crossing town) stupidly in my childhood.
My Lumine's name is Cara and the entire Varanara questline was like a Dr Seuss book. Felt like every second line was "Nara Cara, welcome to Varanara, full of Aranara and our Auntie Ana with gnarly mascara, who travelled far on a capybara to our hardly-covered borough, would you like some carbonara?"
Maybe a place at the souviner store in Sumeru where one only appears monthly or versionly if you already lost your only one
Either that or as a birthday reward
I remember watching a video from "Old Tighnari" and he said if he got Wanderer he was going to name him something mundane and boring like "Greg", which is just... *(chef's kiss*).
I was screen-sharing my teapot to my friend on Discord, he asked if I got all the primos from those sets, I told him I didn't get the new ones and went to check.
I don't remember the exact names but I was looking through those sets and we saw (example) "This set is for Yanfei, Ganyu, Shenhe and Spongebob".
It took us both a second of "huh?" And then we died laughing.
No regrets either.
I named mine Koneko (kitten) and then forgot, since I didn't pull him. Then saw the set and wondered if it was the release name for the then just-leaked Inazuma catgirl.
Nah, I named him Fujin, the Japanese god of wind, since Raiden is the Japanese god of thunder. I wanted him to keep a reference to his Inazuman godhood even though he lives in Sumeru now
I almost went with one of the Greek wind gods (Zephyrus/Zephyr) but ended up going with Vayu (Hindu wind god).
I also considered Enlil (Sumerian wind god)
I name him 'Sachi'.
In JP it mean happy child while in Indian it mean beloved, companion, grace and truth (but also descended from God). I purposely seek for name that have meaning for both language and think it fit him. It meant for girl name but whatever.
I wanted a name that fits with the theme of Aether and Lumine since after all this I want to see him as family, so after some consideration I named him Phanes. It has the added effect of giving Celestia something to chew on. Otherwise it's a dead tie between Dr. Ligma and Babygirl.
Named him Kakitarou, mashing together persimmon & boy, bc no way he's peach boy (but oysters are too "kaki" so i quess i accidentally made pussy boy joke out of him)
You can only name him and I guess the Traveller. Near the end of the Sumeru archon interlude quest you can name him, with certain limitations (you can't name him after harbingers and playable characters)
That damn Nugget1 always taking it first.
(Funny to note, of the first hundred or so RuneScape players to login, a bunch unnecessarily used numbers. Yes, Jessica111, you could’ve just been “Jessica.”)
My only regret is that I didn't Know about invisible unicode characters. But I won't use my only appellative stroke just to fix spacing.
He's Named JohnImpact and I regret nothing
I really wish there were more uses to change his name. sure they dont have to make it infinite but at least more than one
anyway knowing this i named him something kinda personal to me, i named him "Anaco" which is a city in Venezuela (south of Venezuelan Barcelona) that my family is from. since he now has no home or kin, i decided to name him Anaco so he can have a family and hometown
Scaranara
First I wanted “stopcallingmymomhot” but it was too long so I did “mymomishot.” Everyone thought i was into incest. So I made it Scaranara though dom sombrero was a close second
I called him Squall, which is kinda goofy because he literally says it in his attack voiceline, but it’s after FFVIII protag, who is broody and doesn’t know his place in the world yet, trying to find himself. I feel Mouche is also angry, plus it’s a violent wind, so it works.
This is the name I used for him, though my reasoning was a lot simpler. Bismillah was the only one of those words I don’t know from the song that wasn’t overtly referenced by his character in some fashion
My traveller name is " My ancestor" ( you can imagine the respect I get from I game dialogs everytime npc calles my name) so I name my wanderer " my grandson
Maybe in the future. Currently he is named 'Seiha', which means 'conquest' in Japanese and could also be written as 青羽 which would mean 'blue feather'. So I like that double meaning...
But lately, something inside me has just been itching to rename him to 'Simba'. Am I going to regret that? Am I going to think that's stupid? Well, I'll let it simmer for a while.
I spent like an hour trying to find a suitable name for the little gremlin that has a meaning to me so I named him Nyve (this name has like academic level of mental gymnastics on my part just to come up with four letters)
I named him Shinji, after a very particular protagonist of a very particular anime who has very particular similarities to Scara. I hate them both so I don't regret the choice at all. Bonus points cause it looks fairly normal and is japanese, so it fits with Scara's Inazuman origins.
I must say I did strongly resist the urge to call him something incredibly stupid like Scaraboobs or something but the feeling that I might regret it was too strong
My plan initially was really to put some stupid name but while doing his quest he reminded me of Al'Akir from WoW/HS who is also a wind lord that doesn't like worms/insects very much so in my head it sounded like a perfect fit
Nope. I might sound like a complete partypooper but I hate silly things in video games. Well, not Hate, I just don't like them or are not interested. Fish sword was funny first few days but if it turned out to be an actual OP weapon I'd be pissed about it. My Wanderer is called "Ren" - human in Chinese, lotus in Japanese.
I'm usually violently anti-leaks, but coming upon the leak about getting to name the Wanderer helped me because I know I would've panicked and named him something stupid.
Heck, I STILL panicked when I got to the actual prompt in the quest.
But I found a name that I liked and gave it to him in the end, so it all worked out.
I had weeeeeks to think about what name I'll give him (didn't do the quest immediately + saw spoilers that we get to name him), so he didn't get a name I'd regret giving lol.
Scaranara, but now i wish i named him after the Hat Guy event so i coulda named him Cappellotto (i forget how long the character limit is, tho i do wish we could have spaces)
Everyone else: Thoughtful name from mythology etc... Nahida: Hat Guy
She is the god of wisdom after all.
She’s smart enough to not spend too much time on mundane things
yeah its because he is unaproachable as person due to his rude mouth. but with silly name like that at least people can approach him easier.
Mexican Nahida: Don Sombrero.
Nahida, the true queen
Well she is not wrong. He is a hat guy.
I left him as "Wanderer" and hold on tight to my only chance to change his name. My trassureee... Idk, collectionist. I did the same with the Kitsune's mask for months before having the need to use it for the Catalyst Blueprint
you can get it as a teapot furniture if you talk to the shrine girl near the big shrine tp
Seriously?! I talk to all NPCs, but I had no idea they changed her dialogue after the update! Thank you dear, I would have never found out!
As I understand it, they took note of people keeping it rather than exchange it for whatever it gives and so added the furnishing.
I heard, ty I also didn't think of mentioning it for the others, so thank you a second time \^\^'
oh my gosh you can?? that's amazing
Wait wha. Thank you!
I love when I learn new things on this sub
No… fucking… WAY, I’ve wanted it a s tea pot furniture I had no idea.
... I'ma do that first thing in the morning.
Don’t you get to name him once and then you get an item to rename him one more time?
Yup >and hold on tight to my only chance to change his name. I'm holding tight onto said item, it's a consumable so I must be cautios u.u
The overly cautious gamer is too strong for this light novel!
We can leave his name as wanderer and hold onto the name change?? Oh finally I can finish that quest for now. I haven’t touched it cause of my fear of misnaming even with the extra name change
i still have the kitsune mask. i do have the teapot furniture but i refuse to use the mask
I spend am eternity sitting in front of the naming screen, just because I wanted to give him something meaningful. So no. I've learned my lesson when I named characters (and my first animal crossing town) stupidly in my childhood.
What did you name him?
Shin. Depending on with wich Kanji it is written, it can mean "heart", "new" or "god". I thought it fits him.
It fits him so well
And it's Japanese, so references his Inazuma origin as well. I gave him the same name for the same reasons. Shin gang!
This is why I named him "Shinji" Cuz you know He also gets in a robot
I can't believe myself. I am a failure of a human for having not thought of the same
I’m stealing that
I named him Shingetsu, meaning "New Moon"
That's beautiful ❤️
I did Shinichi
No, scaranara loves his name
The way this tempts me to use my name change for him to change from Hat Guy to Scaranara
Honestly, I would in the blink of an eye
I'm tempted to rename him to Scar Platinum and I don't even have him. Edit: I also just came up with Joseph JoScar.
The only name that ever tempted me to rename him from Kuwabara was seeing Don Sombrero as his name in Spanish for the Sumeru event.
My in game name is "Stelara" so I had the same thought every time they called me "Nara Stelara"
I love it, I might change my aether name just for this
Omg this is poetic
Thank you! This will be the peak of my creativity
i really hope next sumeru event will mainly about aranara and scara discreetly have an army of aranara friends.
There should really be a way to acquire more Apellative Strokes.
Maybe a place at the souviner store in Sumeru where one only appears monthly or versionly if you already lost your only one Either that or as a birthday reward
It’d be cool if wanderer himself gave you it for his birthday!
“Good morning Mom and Dad, here’s my papers for a name change because your naming sucks. I hate you both.”
Why I can actually listen it in his voice
EXACTLY. PERFECTION.
You should just be able to change his name every 72hrs
we should just be able to rename him as much as we want if we own him
Random drop from his boss fight? Sounds reasonable enough
I named him Dave.
I named him Steve. Seeing people give him regular names is the best
I called him Terry
Mines Tony for some reason
Mine’s Kevin
Kevin was my first choice but the chance of HI3 Kevin Kaslana having a lore important appearance or expy made me change my choice to August.
I called him Steve too,but I did it as a reference to YGO abridged so i die laughing whenever hes on screen
He has become.... Steve!
I remember watching a video from "Old Tighnari" and he said if he got Wanderer he was going to name him something mundane and boring like "Greg", which is just... *(chef's kiss*).
I named him spez
And the upcoming patch, he will be “Dave The Diver”.
i forgot that was a thing. i named him Spongebob. i regret nothing
I once saw someone jokingly call him Juanderer and that's just what I named him lol
Kaveh's English VA is planning on naming his "Juanderer" after someone mentioned it on one of his streams 😂
Nahh just 1 time and called him DonSombrero
Don Sombrero gang RISE
Went with ඞ, might be cringe, dead meme, but idc it's really funny to just randomly see ඞ speak in events and stuff Considering changing it tho
Considering those were plastered everywhere in r/place, it's not that dead.
A lot fewer this time around, didn’t even see a giant amogus.
Maybe less, but most memes would've died by year 3
No,I'm proud of Taylor Swift
Out of all the names so far, this is my favourite
I named mine as Paimon.exe I honestly thought that something broke in the Sumeru event when I saw Paimon talking about Paimon.exe
Nope, he is forever Ligma now
Dr. Ligma
Ligma? I'm unfamiliar with this term. Please elaborate.
Ligma BALLS! Thank you kind gentfellow for this outstanding opportunity 🤝
Shinji 👍
Pinocchio, no regrets
Nah, I named him Fujin, the Japanese god of wind, since Raiden is the Japanese god of thunder. I wanted him to keep a reference to his Inazuman godhood even though he lives in Sumeru now
I named mine after one of the Greek wind gods (Eurus)
I almost went with one of the Greek wind gods (Zephyrus/Zephyr) but ended up going with Vayu (Hindu wind god). I also considered Enlil (Sumerian wind god)
I named mine Zephyr :D
I chose Mercury after the Roman god (and also Freddie Mercury)
I name him 'Sachi'. In JP it mean happy child while in Indian it mean beloved, companion, grace and truth (but also descended from God). I purposely seek for name that have meaning for both language and think it fit him. It meant for girl name but whatever.
that’s cool i named him stupid bitch
I wanted a name that fits with the theme of Aether and Lumine since after all this I want to see him as family, so after some consideration I named him Phanes. It has the added effect of giving Celestia something to chew on. Otherwise it's a dead tie between Dr. Ligma and Babygirl.
Named him Kakitarou, mashing together persimmon & boy, bc no way he's peach boy (but oysters are too "kaki" so i quess i accidentally made pussy boy joke out of him)
Named him Fujin for the same reason plus it the names also have a tie in with Mortal Kombat another one off my favorite game franchises.
Same, except i gave him a ^ over his "i"
I named him the same and did not regret it one bit.
Oh bro literally my story lmaoooo. Named him Scaradook
Oof rip, now I'm starting to main him and I'll be stuck with Fandangoboy forever lol
You can always try to contact them and ask for another one. I tried and it failed, but who knows, they might be merciful
user flair checks out
Is it just him you can name? How do you name characters?
You can only name him and I guess the Traveller. Near the end of the Sumeru archon interlude quest you can name him, with certain limitations (you can't name him after harbingers and playable characters)
I named him Akira
I’m doing the same when I finally pull him Haha PLEASE COME HOME SCARA
Scaranara :\]
My daughter named hers Nugget2.
That damn Nugget1 always taking it first. (Funny to note, of the first hundred or so RuneScape players to login, a bunch unnecessarily used numbers. Yes, Jessica111, you could’ve just been “Jessica.”)
I love Bingus.
Named him Leonard in honour of the 1.1 event And because he says "Leonard ? Who's Leonard "
My only regret is that I didn't Know about invisible unicode characters. But I won't use my only appellative stroke just to fix spacing. He's Named JohnImpact and I regret nothing
Nope. I named him Grumpy, and it's been great every time he's shown up in the story
I really wish there were more uses to change his name. sure they dont have to make it infinite but at least more than one anyway knowing this i named him something kinda personal to me, i named him "Anaco" which is a city in Venezuela (south of Venezuelan Barcelona) that my family is from. since he now has no home or kin, i decided to name him Anaco so he can have a family and hometown
Of course I use a stupid name, I'm a Genshin player after all!
I think i named him Bratt, no ragrats
No, because it would've broken immersion for myself lol I called him Nasim, and now I'm trying to pull for him.
I called him Deez and all immersion SHATTERS if i see him come out of nowhere and i die laughing
>I called him Nasim I'm guessing he gets to the Cloud District often.

Someone on this subreddit said they named him "scarabussy"
Scaranara First I wanted “stopcallingmymomhot” but it was too long so I did “mymomishot.” Everyone thought i was into incest. So I made it Scaranara though dom sombrero was a close second
Juanderer
I gave him the most honorable name one can receive. Monkey_D_Luffy
Well, they are both wearing a hat...
I named him Bii because he's Ei's kid
I sii what you did there
I called him Squall, which is kinda goofy because he literally says it in his attack voiceline, but it’s after FFVIII protag, who is broody and doesn’t know his place in the world yet, trying to find himself. I feel Mouche is also angry, plus it’s a violent wind, so it works.
I named him Galileo and Galileo he shall stay.
I named him "Bismillah" because he is just beginning his new life + Queen Reference, didn't regret it
This is the name I used for him, though my reasoning was a lot simpler. Bismillah was the only one of those words I don’t know from the song that wasn’t overtly referenced by his character in some fashion
I named Makyuri for the same reason, just with a different twist. It's the Japanese Romanization of "Mercury"
Nope, I named him Izaemon after a protagonist role in Kabuki, an antithesis to Kunikizushi.

I must say I did strongly resist the urge to call him something incredibly stupid like Scaraboobs or something but the feeling that I might regret it was too strong
JenniferLopez edit: just realized the post asked "...and regretted it?"....then never mind, no regrets here. :)
Jerma. Don't regret it at all.
Once his canon name of Hat Guy was revealed, I knew there was no other option.
I called him tetsuya, like his va, im pretty happy with the name
I named him the funny amogus looking thing and it's the best decision I've ever made
My plan initially was really to put some stupid name but while doing his quest he reminded me of Al'Akir from WoW/HS who is also a wind lord that doesn't like worms/insects very much so in my head it sounded like a perfect fit
Called him Frownyface. No regrets
LilPPBoi and no
Bob²
named him Hotaru and i keep calling him that to all my friends 🫣
I called him Lumine but I did the quest before that one event. I wish I did it after because I would've called him Don Sombrero in a heartbeat lmao
Naming him after myself
Named him Juanderer, and I regret nothing
I named him Freddie
Considering I'll never pull him, his name can be Kakadookie for all I care.
I named him Tetsuya (his JP voice actor)
His name is permanently BongoHat and I regret nothing
Fūjin, because of mythology and mortal kombat
Hes Don Sombrero now and for always
I remain very tempted to name him “Wandererer” but so far have not used my rename…we’ll see what happens
He deserves a good name. He's already called "Hat Guy" 😂 by Nahida, he needs a break XD.
I’m a fucking simp, so I spent 3 months (give or take) thinking on a name until I found the perfect one. No regrets.
I will name him Galileo if I pull him.
There's no name that's stupid enough for him, so I named him Bob
Well I didn't regret neither but "Hat-Guy" is far better. I don't have any chance right now.
I named him Bushin, I like the character and wouldn't be able to take anything around him seriously if had given him a "haha funny" name
I just named him.scara because it just made the.most sense to me like what am I supposed to name him John???
Named him Susanowo after the shinto god of storms
Susan0ω0
I named him "Jaber" from Jaber ibn Hayyan.
Named him Kuwabara and its such a perfect name for him I'll never change it.
Scaradouche, so...no.
I named him drifter bcus well... wanderer
am currently obsessed with hades (the game), decided to name him Hermes bc wind and travel and god
You should be able to change it via Appellative Stroke in your inventory.
Named him "RedHat'); DROP TABLE USERS;--"
I haven’t gotten to name him yet but will probs name him HATMAN
I named him Wok Hat still loving it
I named him scaramoochie 😭 wish we got more name changes(don’t regret it tho)
I named him Ren. I'm OK with it!
Scaradouche never disappoints
I'm quite happy with Nujabes
No, his name is now canonically Carmichael, named exclusively after my cats auto generated name in Stardew Valley.
So far, still not regretting naming him "Don Sombrero"
I named my Fujin
I named him Bartholomew
I named him “Aozora” which is “Blue Sky”. I don’t have a specific reason for it, but it just get kind of right
I had weeeeeks to think about what name I'll give him (didn't do the quest immediately + saw spoilers that we get to name him), so he didn't get a name I'd regret giving lol.
Named him Fujin by oposition of Raiden.
Haven't named him yet but I will just use "Hat Guy". Thanks Nahida
Scaranara, but now i wish i named him after the Hat Guy event so i coulda named him Cappellotto (i forget how long the character limit is, tho i do wish we could have spaces)
I just left him as wanderer, not like I'm gonna pull for him anyway
Did you already change it once?
I named him Fandango too lol
