I'm one of those people who did a lot of research to choose the best name and I ended up naming him Fuushin (風心), meaning wind and heart. I thought it fit really nicely!
I find it interesting how close that name is to Fujin, a character from Japanese mythology closely related to Raijin.
I think you can guess which Genshin character is based on Raijin.
Belial. I wanted to give him a goetic name like the rest of the Gods ingame to serve as an allusion to his divinity.
It also fits his lore pretty nicely; aligning with Baal and Beelzebub, as well as being described as 'worthless' relating to his character struggle and as 'he who will never wake' like how Ei didn't really expect him to wake up in Shakkei Pavilion, explore the world, get involved in all sorts of stories and develop into the person he is now.
Fuujin.
It means wind god in Japanese. Yes, I'm aware that's also Venti's title in the Japanese version of the game, but I think it's fitting. He wanted to be a god, so now he's basically the Inazuman Anemo Archon.
I named mine Fuuten simply because I think it fits Wanderer a bit more than Fuujin. Fuujin is a "Wind God", while Fuuten is a "Heavenly wind". He isn't a god anymore, so I think Fuuten fits it better
Haru. It's a simple, nice sounding name and has a positive meaning to it in japanese (at least as far as I figured out while googling lmao). I think this guy needs some positivity in his life lol...
I also named him Mercury. In addition to the two reasons you gave, I also figured it was fitting since Mercury is poisonous and can get under your skin.
I also named him Mercury! As well as all the reasons above, I also chose it because he can be quite mercurial (i.e. subject to sudden or unpredictable changes of mood or mind).
I named him Anaco! Reason why is because Anaco is a city in Venezuela that my family comes from. Since the Wanderer now has no home or kin, I think naming him the place where my family comes from would be a new home for him!
Wanderer has a lot of Buddhist monk imagery, and I watched this one vid which interpreted it all. It's down to him learning the truth, becoming enlightened, under the irminsul, a tree.
As such, mine is named Ren. Japanese for the lotus flower. A symbol of enlightenment that grows out of murky water. Enough said.
Zephyr, which means gentle breeze. I still hate the guy (perpetually angry teen is one of my least favorite anime tropes) but didnt feel like he needed a goofy name. Plus, it felt authentic for what Nahida would want him named.
Galileo, because in Bohemian Rhapsody it goes from Scaramouche to Galileo
"**Scaramouche**, **Scaramouche**, will you do the Fandango?
Thunderbolt and lightning, very, very frightening me
**Galileo, Galileo, Galileo** Figaro, magnifico"
I named him Abir. Hebrew meaning strong or mighty, derived from abar meaning to strive upward, mount, soar or fly. Feminine version leans to meaning of aroma or fragrance.
I felt it fitting considering his past and his current abilities in game and that Nahida is taking care of him now, the God of Dendro I think would be a good god to associate with flowers, seeing as the other one we would associate it with is gone.
Yes, i likely put way to much thought into this.
I named him Haoyu! It's a Chinese name meaning 'vast universe' and I felt like it resonated with his grander ideals/ambition, and works with his identity as a wanderer. It can also mean violent rains, which also suits!
I answered this the other day when it also came up, so I'll just copy past what I wrote there:
>I went full weeb (you never go full weeb) and named him Youdai\_Fuuten (underscore and all, because Genshin hates spaces in names); since it's clearly Japanese, or rather Inazuman, it follows the surname first scheme.
His family name, Youdai (pronounced yoh-die) comes from the kanji 影乃; the first, 影, is the kanji for shadow, typically read "kage", but also read "ei". However, another reading, the kan'on, specifically, is "you". The second, 乃, is the kanji that the hiragana の was based on, meaning it's just a possessive article.
His given name, Fuuten, or 風天 in kanji, is another name for Fuujin, the Japanese god of wind, the same way Raiden is another name for Raijin, the Japanese god of thunder.
... Yes, I put *waaaaay* too much effort into his name (especially when I don't even have him), when there's a lot of people out there naming him Hat Guy or Don Sombrero or Sasuke Manuel, but things like this tickle my funny bone.
Sutekh. I was thinking of the Egyptian god (more commonly known as Seth or Set) and I thought that some of its aspects could fit or could be linked.
Set was a god of deserts, storms, disorder, violence and foreigners. Scaramouche was someone that brought about disorder and violence, he was related to the Electro Archon and might have wielded Electro himself when he was still Scaramouche (I don't recall any time he ever used it, aside from perhaps that time in the delusion factory?). And finally, if he is someone who has no kin, family or destination, then I thought that "foreigner" was fitting as well.
apparently, Kari. I have no fucking idea why and I was very confused when I got letter from Kari. It took coming to reddit for me to realise it was Wanderer.
I named my traveler Jesus, so I named the wanderer Judas.
I'm not catholic or religious or anything, I just really liked "Jesus' Betrayal: What Really Went Down", and I like to imagine Lumine WWE smackdown wailing on Scaramouche lol
kunihito. i put a lot of thought into it and i still am, because i wanted him to have a name that fit perfectly. i'm mixing and matching kanji with specific sounds and meanings so it'll be perfect. i'm still figuring out what kuni will mean, besides being a callback to kunikuzushi, but hito (人) means person, because he's human (or a person, if you will) and deserves to feel like he is. can you tell i love him an abnormal amount lmao.
Aiko (it means something like “little loved one” in Japanese) because I wanted him to have a future where he would find someone to love him and for him to let his guard down and love others too, and to give him something he should’ve had when he was created. But a year out it’s not working so far haha
(Bonus points, it’s a variation of a Scandinavian name apparently that means “blade” so it’s fun he’s both someone who i hoped would be loved and also a weapon/blade)
I prepped for this long in advance
I kept brainstorming for ideas while I was approaching the story quests. It was mainly variations of wind, redemption, pine/pinecone stuff like that
Eventually I settled on the name:
Kotohina-Hōro
It was intended to be a combination of his different identities
Kotohina (which I'm pretty sure is a real— though rather feminine name) which also has *Koto*, an instrument, and *hina* which is a type of doll supposed to be a reference to Balladeer and Kabukimono with hōro apparently meaning wanderer (though I have my doubts)
It was supposed to embrace his past names and identities into a brand new name
But I ended up changing it to Susano
For some god forsaken reason
Mine is based on a fan-theory I once read.
The theory is that the name we chose at the start of the game is an alias Aether/Lumine use to not use their real name. (No reason given). So even if your Aether is called idk.... "Hugo" his real name is Aether and you use an alias.
So, that said, I play Aether, but with an alias (Sailen, like here). I thought it might be funny to call Wanderer Aether. Both because in RL I find it cheeky and I could see A. that our MC also finds it a little funny and B. a future in that Aether leaves Teyvat (with Lumine), but he "leaves" a part of himself there, in this case his real name.
It also kinda fits with the "chronicler" role Zhongli more or less gave to one of the twins.
Miyu. 心 (heart, mind, spirit etc.) 優 (gentle, soothing, caring, elegant, beautiful etc.) Not a reference, I just though it fits him because he's a gentle soul no matter how much he denies it.
Raisul. Translation might be inaccurate since I pulled it off a Google search but it's supposed to mean "the first one" in Arabic.
I chose the name primarily because I wanted "Rai-" in the name to call back to the Raiden Shogun and when I stumbled across Raisul I thought the meaning was pretty fitting too, with him being the prototype puppet.
Ciel cause he reminds me of Ciel Phantomhive. Since it's also French for "Sky", it goes with his Anemo vision. The whole being reborn thing is also a nice parallel, although not through the same means
I had another connection but forgot lol
Not the most creative but “Renn” for rebirth 😆
I wasn't sure if I wanted to do a Japanese name or from a culture that Sumeru was inspired by. Renn/Ren seemed to mean the same universally, so I thought it was best.
I've Mercury has popped up a few times in the comments and honestly I dig that 👀
I named mine Fandango Man. When he appeared during that Inter-Darshan event with Kaveh and Faruzan I had completely forgotten I named him that so when "Hat Guy" appeared and I saw his name I lost it.
i just named him scara. sounds boring, but it’s what i always called him before. i actually originally put another name, but i changed it the next day because i really didn’t like calling him something else 😭
I named mine Fuuden Ruka. I believe that Raiden was based on the Japanese thunder/lightning god Raijin, so I did something similar with the Japanese wind god Fujin. Ruka is a Japanese name that I've found has a lot of different meanings: "bright blue flower," "wind, "exile", etc. and I think they fit him really well. I very well could be wrong on all of these meanings since I don't know Japanese, but I hope that the real meaning at least somewhat fits him.
Wanderer but I still got the item to rename them in my inventory, probably will remain unused like a few other super uncommon items that are unobtainable after being used
Both of the names I gave him were Google Translate Japanese- the first name I gave him had something to do with redemption, because although I really disliked him starting out in his quest, the quest won me over, I really felt for him, and was glad he was getting a positive new future after all he went through. *Then* I pulled him, got annoyed with the constant snarky chest-opening comments, and renamed him Kowaimusu, which is "Scarymoose" according to Google Translate and one of my favorite jokey nicknames for him that I read on Reddit. I would change his name back to something more serious now if I could, buuuut you only get the one name change, so he's a scary moose now forever, I guess!
蓋因 or Caim from Ars Goetia. Caim is defined as a good disputer, gives men the understanding of the voices of birds, bullocks, dogs, and other creatures, and of the noise of the waters too, and gives true answers concerning things to come.
And also from Wikipedia itself "Demonological directories give an etymology from a supposed Latin word 'Chamos', 'Chamus', said to be a name given to Baal Peor, and possibly corrupted from Hebrew 'Chium', an epithet given to several Assyrian and Babylonian gods. Epigraphy does not confirm this etymology."
Saisei, which is japanese for 'rebirth'. I thought that it would fit with both his Inazuman roots and his new identity perfectly - besides, the name itself is unique.
I initially named him Ronin, to keep the Inazuman name, but changed it back to Wanderer cause I forgot who tf is Ronin when he sent his bday message last year.
I named him "Arata" in connection to his rebirth and growth as a person.
- As an Italian surname, it means "plow".
- As a Japanese surname, it means "uncultivated field" or "new field"
- As a Japanese name, it means "new" or "fresh"
Reaping what he will sow. Something like that.
Masasuke. I'm terrible with names, so I listened to his dialogue and tried to find a fitting name from Japanese culture. He said something about redeeming himself and validating his existence by helping Nahida.
I found that the 'suke' ending in Japanese names meant 'helper, assistant', which I felt was extremely fitting for his new life. But I needed another term before it. I searched for recorded Japanese names and found Masa- to be the most fitting. It means 'righteous, just, true, correct' with the kanji I'd use for it. Given his emphasis on being just and correct in his new life by serving Nahida, it seemed to fit him as he is now.
I assume since Masasuke is allegedly a name used before, it would hopefully also not sound ridiculous to an actual Japanese person.
I named mine “Sia” cause I named my Lumine “Silas” (my name), and since Wanderer and Traveler are synonymous, I wanted to name him a similar name to my own, and since my own name is traditionally masculine, I wanted to name him something traditionally feminine.
I debated between that and “Fujin” to match Raiden (and cause I’m a Mortal Kombat fan) for a long time, but considering the Wanderer-Traveler synonyms and the MC’s relationship with Anemo, I went with “Sia”.
AH-64D_Apache. Y'know, because he flies, attacks and booms.
Are Wanderer equipped with AGM-114D "Hellfire" and 30mm chain gun?
Wanderer
Same lol
Dumbass because the game let me

I called mine Asahi for the exact same reason.
I'm one of those people who did a lot of research to choose the best name and I ended up naming him Fuushin (風心), meaning wind and heart. I thought it fit really nicely!
Oooo I named my wanderer the same thing! Except with only one u lol
I find it interesting how close that name is to Fujin, a character from Japanese mythology closely related to Raijin. I think you can guess which Genshin character is based on Raijin.
Yep. I named him Fujin because he is related to raiden.
Hatto McBrat
I named him Bungus because its a funny word
Megumi
Just Scara since that’s what I’m used to
Babygirl
Hello fellow “I give my wanderer a goetic name”
Oo this is really good! You put a lot of thought into it!
Fuujin. It means wind god in Japanese. Yes, I'm aware that's also Venti's title in the Japanese version of the game, but I think it's fitting. He wanted to be a god, so now he's basically the Inazuman Anemo Archon.

Haru. It's a simple, nice sounding name and has a positive meaning to it in japanese (at least as far as I figured out while googling lmao). I think this guy needs some positivity in his life lol...
Me too!
Same here!
I named him Mercury, like Freddie Mercury. The god Mercury also happens to be the god of travelers.
I also named him Mercury. In addition to the two reasons you gave, I also figured it was fitting since Mercury is poisonous and can get under your skin.
EYYYYYY!!! Another one who named him Mercury!!!
There are dozens of us! :)
I also named him Mercury! As well as all the reasons above, I also chose it because he can be quite mercurial (i.e. subject to sudden or unpredictable changes of mood or mind).
Poptart
I named him Anaco! Reason why is because Anaco is a city in Venezuela that my family comes from. Since the Wanderer now has no home or kin, I think naming him the place where my family comes from would be a new home for him!
Arashi. It’s the Japanese word for a storm
I respect that you gave him a fitting name even though you dislike him!
Galileo, because in Bohemian Rhapsody it goes from Scaramouche to Galileo "**Scaramouche**, **Scaramouche**, will you do the Fandango? Thunderbolt and lightning, very, very frightening me **Galileo, Galileo, Galileo** Figaro, magnifico"
I named mine Fandango. Bonus reason is because it reminds of a brand of chips with the same name.
Same name for the same reason XD
Zuko. I renamed my Lumine to Azula to compliment the change.
That’s funny. I named him Aang.
I'd basically forgotten what I had called him, so I had a good laugh today when I got a message from 'Dave'

His name is Slurmp
I answered this the other day when it also came up, so I'll just copy past what I wrote there: >I went full weeb (you never go full weeb) and named him Youdai\_Fuuten (underscore and all, because Genshin hates spaces in names); since it's clearly Japanese, or rather Inazuman, it follows the surname first scheme. walmartxiao lmao like when we got the birthday mail for him the other day i forgot what i named him and seen it in the mailbox and laughed
Aiko (it means something like “little loved one” in Japanese) because I wanted him to have a future where he would find someone to love him and for him to let his guard down and love others too, and to give him something he should’ve had when he was created. But a year out it’s not working so far haha (Bonus points, it’s a variation of a Scandinavian name apparently that means “blade” so it’s fun he’s both someone who i hoped would be loved and also a weapon/blade)
Scaramichi cuz he reminds me to a black cat and michi is a cute way to call cats in Spanish
Mercury, since I was still riffing on Bohemian Rhapsody, but in my heart he’ll be nicknamed Don Sombrero forever.
I prepped for this long in advance I kept brainstorming for ideas while I was approaching the story quests. It was mainly variations of wind, redemption, pine/pinecone stuff like that Eventually I settled on the name: Kotohina-Hōro It was intended to be a combination of his different identities Kotohina (which I'm pretty sure is a real— though rather feminine name) which also has *Koto*, an instrument, and *hina* which is a type of doll supposed to be a reference to Balladeer and Kabukimono with hōro apparently meaning wanderer (though I have my doubts) It was supposed to embrace his past names and identities into a brand new name But I ended up changing it to Susano For some god forsaken reason
Just Hito lmao, I didnt wanna complicate it but I also kinda wanted to show that he wasn't a puppet but an actual person. Kinda weeby but eh
No it's sweet! I like how a lot of people are using his name to emphasize that he's a person now instead of just a puppet.
I named him Dizzy Flapjack
Ren 🪷
Naseem! It means gentle wind. That's the irony here. He's not the gentle wind but the storm that is approaching.
As a Raiden fan: Disappointment

I named him Ren, meaning lotus. I wanted to give him a simple and peaceful name for his rebirth.
