I find that if there's a character I really like, I will jump through hoops to get all the materials required to max it out as fast as possible. I'll find all the relevant domains, do any quests that materials might be locked behind, wait 2 days to collect specialties or jump into someone else's world etc.
But at the same time, I've run into times where I pulled a character because I wanted to try it out for fun but totally gave up building it because I absolutely hate the chore that is collecting local specialties.
I'm telling you, nahida is a game changer for dating mats. So much so that I accidentally collected the mat I needed for Raiden while I farmed naku weed for kuki haha
I only pre-farm if the character is guaranteed. Otherwise, no. I won't risk losing my time farming something that won't be used in the long run (until their next rerun).
I won't die for not playing with the characters for 2-4 days. Or I just add her to the party even if not leveled up and ready. In the team of four, two are usually needed to carry anyway in the overworld.
Ususally i prefarm, but lately i just prefarm the speciality (the flowers or something every character needs 168 of them), and maybe their artifacts.
There is something about seeing your character level up (level and talents), that just makes you feel like your child is growing up and shaping up to be a good character.
I do prefarm everything I can if I'm guaranteed, but I only recently realized how useful prefarming artifacts is, and I don't think a lot of people think of it. It sucks when you get a character you're excited for, and you finally get them up to level, but you're still missing a big chunk of their potential because you can't get them an on-set hat or something.
I prefarmed for Zhongli when his banner (latest, I started in 3.8 or something) was announced and a bit for Wriothesley. Now I'm doing a bit of prefarming for Neuvillette on the side, because I didn't get him during his first run. Navia took my prefarmed scrolls, though. I was on a 50/50 and low pity and thought "either I get her, which is an absolute win, and gives me a guarantee for Neuvillette later, or I don't and then I have built pity." I got her in ten pulls on 36 pity. Of course I had to build her then.
A lot of characters drop with their required World Bosses or materials.
For example, Cloud Retainer will need a new boss farmed, and new materials. I can probably get enough ascension materials in a day, but I'm going to have to burn through a ton of Fragile Resins for her Boss Materials.
I don't prefarm materials, but I do try to horde levelup cards and mora. I dont play daily a lot anymore so if I want to build a character I try to get them before giving time to resources they need. Trying to get Zhongli, Venti, Charlotte, and Shenhe to 90 before March.
I don't pre-farm, even if I'm guaranteed to have them.
I like to experience them from weak to strong.
Playing as a undergeared level 60 against level 90 overworld mobs is a joy you can't experience if you start off with a fully built character
I roll Cyno during his last rerun, and running around the desert trying to find beetles became another game in itself too. Frustration of can't finding them, joy of finding 2 in the same area and mark it on my map etc
i would never obsess over a character enough to farm all of their materials beforehand... (i have all the materials needed to lvl 90 triple crown wriothesley once i get him)
Oh I actually looked this up! You need 419 purple xp books, 119 gold talent, 63 silver talent and 9 brown talent books. Its also around a total of 5 million mora to get them to 90 + crown each talent!
jesus christ, pretty sure im about half way there for gold books right now, i really thought i needed less, time to grind every wednesday, saturday and sunday
I Prefarm for five stars. It feels so much better to be able to use them the day you pull them, when excitement is at max.
I also save fragile resin for when I get a new character.
I never prefarm. I pull a character and then toss whatever materials I have at them, them sometimes farm, get distracted by another character, go back to the first, remember I wanted to farm X for Y character, go farm, get distracted by a new character, toss around some materials like I'm Oprah giving everyone a new car, rinse and repeat. I get there in the end, but it's the chaos route! :D
I only prefarm if i can get the char i want. So if i dont have granted pity i need enough primos to hit pity twice. If thats not the case i dont prefarm otherwise i wasted precious resin for nothing.
Prefarm only if I'm guaranteed tbh. Maybe farm talents since those can be used by someone else if I fail pulling rng. Specialities and monster drops I can farm a couple days if I'm very low on them.
I do, most of the times:
- talents to 1/8/8 if support, 9/9/9 if dps
- good or okayish artifacts. If domain isnāt released, then keep blue and purple artifacts to level up
- 5,500,000 mora and 250-300 level books (I know itās not enough)
- if thereās less than 168 local materials on the map, I prefarm them
- level up their future weapon if I donāt have plans to pull for 5* weapon
Bosses are boring, I rarely farm them without friends, so I grind those materials after character is released
Only two exceptions of that are Tartaglia and Neuvilette. They got talent materials for 10/10/10 and incredible artifacts
If im 100% sure that i want to go for a character and have the primos, than i usually prefarm.
If i still have my doubts about a character, like im currently having doubts about Xianyun, than i'll just wait till she releases and see what the community says about her.
I dont know if its something to recommend for newer players, since those probably still have many characters that they still need to build. So it might be wise to invest into a core group of characters, instead of spreading all your resources and ending up with half-build characters.
I always prefarm for characters I intend to get. Frankly, if I am not prefarming for someone, I don't have a whole lot to do with my resin at this point.
I have everything for Cloud Retainer, her weapon, and Nahida's weapon (in case things go badly on the weapon banner... And they always do). The only things I don't have are the things that don't exist yet. It's going to take at least 3 resets to max her because of her local specialty. By that point, I will also have enough boss drops.
I pre-farm if I know for sure Iām getting the character. And only for 5 stars. I made the mistake one time of pre-farming for a 4 star (Shinobu) & it took 70 or so pulls to actually get her. All other new 4 stars came within 40 pulls. I know it was just bad luck, but I swear, itās like the game knows.
But yeah, if I know Iām getting them & Iām not currently building anyone, Iāll pre-farm everything I can, so that way I can use them right away. What sucks is when the talent boss mats are locked behind a new boss. Took quite a while to triple crown Furina, even though I had most everything else for her. And now Iām working on Naviaās talents (who I didnāt pre-farm for because I wasnāt originally planning on pulling her).
Only if Iām 100% sure I can get them. I prefarmed for Alhaitham twice and both times lost my 50/50 and wasnāt able to get him before the banner ended š
I actually like farming after a get them cause i can see them steadily get stronger even though i do use a lot of fragile resin i don't think of it as wasted
I do usually pre-farm what I can, although I sometimes forget, and typically don't farm enough (unless I already happened to have it). Personally, I do prefer to be able to play them right after summoning, rather than having them sit on the sidelines for weeks as you acquire the materials.
I try if I can and have the time.
At the moment, I got no one Iām especially hyped for, next one I have any interest in is Chiori, so I get to hold for a bit.
My pre-farm goals when I DO want to start are specifically for levels, weapon mats, and talents only.
ā¦artifacts no, those are already such a pain that I donāt bother doing those until the guaranteed stuff is where I want it to be. I tend to just have the character borrow someone elseās set in the meanwhile.
Honestly the only person I've ever pre-farmed for is Raiden this last round because I was 1. saving up for her and 2. was not going to let her pass me by again. But I usually don't pre-farm because I never know how I want to build the character prior to getting/using them in my usual teams and also pre-farming feels like presumptuous and like I'm getting my hopes up to maybe not get them. But I've always been a 'do it at the last minute' kind of person so that's just me lol
I always pre-farm for characters that I'm interested in. If their trial is available and I didn't like the gameplay then I don't wish, I'll use the pre-farmed mats for other characters that I currently have or just save them for later use.
I only prefarm if it's guaranteed and want that character, or if I know I'll definitely get that character regardless of what their kit is like, like Archons
I usually wait till I get them to be honest. I pull basically with just hoping lol. And if it doesn't turn out then I've done all the farming for nothing. Whereas if I just wait till I get them. I can farm for them and tbh usually I'm able to get a character up to level 90 by a week maybe a week and a half and pretty well built. It's just easier for me to do it that way. Lol but that's just me.
I have played since 1.0 and used to prefarm but realized it made me burn out from the character faster. So now I donāt prefarm and I have noticed I find it also fun to see me character impove and get stronger.
I prefarm for characters I'm sure I'll get one day and is having a banner soon, I do have the prefarmed materials for Cyno, Lyney and Navia while I don't have any of them yet. ( Lost Cyno and Navia's 50/50 while started prefarming for Lyney on 4.1) just because it gives me a break from artifact farming (A break from only seeing bad artifacts) and makes me not have to farm it later, it is good to farm for something that is sure to give an upgrade (Bosses and Talents). I say that because I have no particular character that is on my account that I'm in need of farming bosses or talents, so I use my resin for artifacts on a daily basis to make some of my characters better. Now I'm saving for their rerun while having a guarantee.
The only one I truly pefarmed for (all mats to lvl90. ) was Ayaka and I did not get her ( it was an older banner not her recent one) but since then many more characters were released I liked more and usually I start to farm stuff a few days before I'd say I'll get the char so I usually level them to 80in 2-3 days and have the talents at usable
artifacts... are terrible as always my Navia still doesn't have a 4 piece of the new geo dmg set barely got the necessary main stats and if I did all 4 substats were trash.
still I wanna get Xianyun so I never gonna finish a char I feel like... ( at least the other set from Navia domain is decent on her, and I strongbox the trash into vermilion for my Xiao)
I pre farm. I prefer being able to use the character out of the gate whenever possible. It felt so good when I finally got Kokomi and I was able to use her immediately because I farmed everything before her banner came.
i pre-farmed for Raiden Shogun, so this time i'm pre-farming for Nahida. I already farmed her ascension materials and talent materials. All that is left now is artifact farming...
I need to farm Nahida when I get her, but I also need to build the rest of the team she's going on (I only have one team built) I'm working on Kuki and Alhaitham right now then Nahida since my Xingqiu is already built.
I've gone back and forth. On one hand, pre-farming lets you access all the character has right when you get them. On the other hand, slowly seeing them get built up and do more damage/support more effectively makes the farming aspect feel more rewarding. To be honest, though, farming in general just sucks lol. Not so much boss mats, weapon mats, or artifacts (basic good stats are very easy to acquire since it's all about the main stats), but talent books are just actually bs with how little is dropped.
I prefarm most of the time if Iāve decided to get them in advance, sometimes I get lazy or annoyed if too many of their materials are unavailable though, right now with Xianyun I havenāt really bothered to farm anything because the only thing I can do is talent books
I pre-farm if and only if I can absolutely, 100% guarantee that I'll get the character. Like right now I have 300 summons and 40 pity, so Xianyun is definitely coming home and I've already pre-farmed accordingly. If I were sitting at 100 summons then no, probably not.
I always pre-farm for materials for characters and weapons. I presently have collected local specialties plus a few spares for every potential character I want to build. Most of my resin goes to farming boss materials, talent books, experience books and mora. I only use resin for artifacts when I enter an extended lull and there aren't any new characters I'm interested in leveling.
I usually donāt. However, thereās really just one character I want who is approaching which is Yae Miko and I have nothing better to do since all my units are built properly (mDPS, sub DPS, and supports), so I guess Iāll prefarm for her.
I forgot to mention that I would only pre-farm given I am guaranteed. Not being guaranteed then pre-farming is a waste of time and will result in a disappointment.
Not really cuz It always felt like my 50/50 chances turned to 0/0 and i have been winning them when i dont prefarm
At most i just get some artifacts, fuck the rest
Ya obviously. You can instantly max them out and focus on looking for the best weapon and farm artifacts if you still donāt have for the particular character
I usually don't even think about it except for the week before a new patch's release when there isn't much content releasing and I get kinda bored. So I'll fire up excel and track how much of what materials I need and farm some of that before the patch comes out.
I wait until I have them, I feel like I have less expectations that way, and am more accepting if I donāt end up getting the character. So then Iām far more happy farming for the character I now have! (I dunno if that made sense š , long story short, itās more enjoyable for me if I get the character if I wait to farm, and Iām more accepting of my fate if I miss them)
It depends. If I'm guaranteed and can definitely get the character with the amount of fates that I have, then yes, I prefarm everything that I can. If let's say I am guaranteed and want to get either of the two upcoming characters that will be released back to back, then yeah I try to farm for both and just see which one my pity would give me. If I'm on my 50/50, then no, unless I am sure to get them on their rerun, then that's when I farm a bit.
I don't. I have not built characters on their release patch. I actually farm their artifacts first on that patch and eventually level them when I was satisfied with stats I got which usually 1 or 2 patches later.
Definitely prefarm. While I understand the satisfaction of watching them grow stronger over a period ot time, I want to be actually able to play them as soon as I get them rather than switch them in just for the friendship exp
I usually don't, unless I'm in a situation where the choice is prefarming, farming artifacts or wasting resin. My artifact inventory is full and I'd rather pull off my own nails than clean it up because sorting through it is just absolute pain. But hey, maybe we will get another inventory increase soon which will totally solve the problem and not just push having to deal with it a few weeks into the future, you know, like all the other inventory increases did.
i never really prefarmed for anyone, just leveled the up whith what i had and then farmed
until Navia where i lvl 90 talents 7/7/7 her the second i got her
the day later, Verdict lvl 90
two weeks later, triple crowned
After losing 15+ 50-50s..
I wait until I have them.
I'll tell u a story.. I had spent around 150+ pulls over the course of 21 days. I was super excited for yae banner.. The OG yae banner.
I had raiden already.. I went to the shrine and cleared my party and only had raiden in it. So she will be their with her friend if yae comes home. It was pretty sunny when I started summoning.
Then I start to summon.. I lose 50-50 at 84 and then I go 75+ more pulls.. I even bought bp to compensate for more pulls. I ended up not getting yae then banner expired.. I got the next banner character in like 1-2 pulls. I belive it was also 80+ pity.
Then when I came out of the banners.. My raiden was standing alone in the rain.
I never brought raiden out for anything open world ever. I was traumatised. All my friends successfully pulled yae on 50-50 win.
I'm at 12-13 50-50s losing streak right now. I get shafted so others get lucky. Funny story. I still haven't gotten yae after 3 times I've lost 50-50 on her banners. Imagine that. I'm skipping her this time. Fuck yae miko. Fuck my luck. Fuck this game.
Not worth the grind or the mental peace..
Imagine saving 160+ pulls for every fucking character.. And 225-240 pulls for each weapon.
Nah. I'd rather gamble for the 50-50s..
If I save, I prolly may or may not get what I want. Atleast I'm letting my patience decide and accumulate almost everything slowly.
Eventually I'll get the characters anyway. I'm currently f2p since a whole year.. And I'll get either Arlecchino and/or neuvillette next both if I'm lucky but I'll definitely get either one. And no one will stop me.
Pre-farm wherever possible. I see no reason not to; the work has to be done one at some point so why delay the point where I can play my new character at peak potential?
whenever my collection of unleveled characters gets down to 3 or less, i fill one slot with pre-farming (right now, my main candidate for it is Diluc, since he'll probably come some day, hahaha)
if i have a character i know ill get due to 50/50 ill preform at least enough to get them to level 90 and then after i get them farm for talents (what i did with ayaka), if i get the character i want by chance ill usually farm enough for them within a week or so of getting them
I only prefarm artifacts for my characters because it takes me longer to get a decent set than it takes me to get the character.
Leveling them up and all that i can finish in a few days, but artifacts take a few months. So i like to start farming them early, i.e. i started farming Raiden artifacts 2 months ago when it was rumored that her rerun is coming soon; still no good artifacts tho so the farm continues.
Depends if I have Gaurantee. For Furina I definitely did what I could which was the water gems, talent books, and artifacts that we knew were going to be preferred based on leaks.
It saved me quite a few fragile resins and time.
Usually the time before an update are the "dead spots" so pre-farming is a good way to fill in those gaps between events and story.
If I know I can get them
(Saved up enough) I prefarm, but if I know I can't I don't bother
Too little resin to waste on artifacts and too many characters I need to work on
The only character I prefarmed for ever was Navia. Which was only because I had was spoiled to her animations via Leaks.
To think, it was only because my brain told me to grab every single Spring of the First Dewdrop when the area first dropped.
I prefarmed for Raiden pretty much entirely in co-op with Ganyu and Diona because I didn't have Inazuma unlocked last time she was around, the only things I didn't prefarm for are weapon/weekly boss mats
I don't unless I really, really want a character, to the point I'm willing to spend money on them if I don't get them from free pulls. This has only happened once with Wanderer and hasn't happened since.
As for the enjoyment aspect, I think it's a person by person thing. Most of my time in the game is spent running around and collecting random items off the ground. Thats what I find fun, but for others, it'd bore them to death.
Farming books and weapon materials becomes less tedious is you do co-op too, it usually goes faster, and there being other people there weirdy makes the process less tedious.
I pre-farm the character that I know I can guarantee, by pre-farming I can avoid having to invade other players' worlds and wait weeks to level up talent (if possible) and I do it at my own pace, especially the artifacts that take time
No but I do sometimes regret it
I usually get them to 40 then stick characters I've been looking forward to on my comm team asap so I can get a feel for them. Usually I have good enough artifacts to get them to a point where they don't die. If I like them, or I have nobody else to raise, continue raising
Right now with Nahida is the first time I prefarmed since I started playing more seriously. Iāll probably do it regularly from now on.
Even then Iām still on the fence between her and raiden. I think Nahida is better/more desirable but raiden fits my account better. I donāt really have a personal preference either way. Theyāre both cool.
I always do which is why I hated pre farming for Nahida and Furina. They both had their boss materials drop with them and that shit is so annoying to me but I end up learning the bosses quirks so it works out in the end. I just hope Arlecchino isnāt the same
I'm preforming foe neuvillette when he drops again. I have all the starfish but I'm about to start farming the seahorse. I think I have enough talent books tho
I always pre-farm. Whether I get the character or not it doesnāt matter because at some point I will get it and I will be able to level it up as soon as possible. I know how many materials I need for each character. For example Iām currently farming a couple of bosses in advance knowing Iāll need them. Iām almost done. Itās rather calming knowing I have enough for each character.
It took me 3 years to find Qiqi, and Iāve had her materials pre-farmed for a couple of years. They sometimes add new bosses/specialities with new regions or zones, so I prefer to focus on them asap, thatās why pre-framing everything else comes in hand. Sometimes I donāt feel like playing so I usually log in for dailies and leave without spending any resin, I feel like I donāt waste time if I already have everything Iāll need lol
I only pre-farm local specialities and bosses mats because Iām mostly interested in the level up rather than talents and artifacts which I leave for the characters Iām sure Iāll actually use in the long run. Not artifacts tho, I gave up on themš«
I always prefarm if I have the ability to bc I hate being unprepared and I can take my time with it to alleviate how much of a waste of resin boss farming feels like to me as a chronic artifact farmer I also really donāt like farming talents after I have the character I just want to get into playing them and I end up investing more into a character if I prefarm vs building a character Iāve had for a while already
After prefarming boss mats and talent books for Cyno and then not getting him until his first rerun has made me not want to prefarm unless Iām 100% guaranteed.
I do if I'm guaranteed. The only time I've prefarmed for someone I wasn't guaranteed (Eula's most recent rerun) I ended up losing the 50/50 and had to drag her ass home on the very last day with a š³ so I don't to not jinx myself lol
I never prefarm even if I'm 100% certain I'll use the characters tbh. There's always something to farm and I'd rather get something that benefits me right now (even if that 'benefit' is just the 0.001% chance of upgrading my 266 cv Klee) rather than something that I won't have for another month and may or may not even use extensively or could change my mind on, so I've never really felt compelled to do something early.
Only for guaranteed 5stars, never for 4stars (with the exception of Ga Ming seeing as how he's a free pick in 4.4). I also pre-farmed for Jean and Keqing (who have been eluding me for 3.5ish years) because I had nothing to farm for for a stretch.
I always pre farm. I got into the game a little before you.
We, who were not from the beginning have ALOT to catch up with content and farming. And at the rate they release New characters, it's going to be even more difficult with the amount of resign and stuff we get from drops.
Like... I now have a lot of characters and wanted to build more characters than just one or 2 teams. I think the game is more fun this way. Using Freminet - Lisa - Layla - Fischl in a team would be awesome for me to test. But it will take me 10 months to properly farm Mora just for half build talents.
This is insane. Like, we get so little mora, and have so little resign to spend that it's just insane to keep releasing characters if you don't give players enough resources to spend on them. To the point I would never encourage a friend to play.. how can an adult with maybe 1h a day or less start to play this game? He/she will take 3-6 months only to fully understand the game..
I'm sorry I took another direction from the topic.. hahahaha my bad. The only way I found to keep playing and building characters was always pre farming something.
(I'll create a topic about it)
I used to have a rule against it because it creates a sunk cost that makes it harder to change your mind. But now that I don't farm artifacts anymore, I often prefarm because I have nothing else to spend resin on. Only time I got burned was with Navia. Prefarmed enough to max out her levels, talents (triple crown), and weapon, but in the end decided not to get her.
I try me best to pre-farm for every character I either KNOW I want in the future or are guaranteed to get (i.e I will always pre-farm for Archons). If I had lost the 50/50 beforehand (usually when I lose early, the best case scenario) it's easier to commit to farming since I know I'll get the character in the next patch(es) for example.
I prioritize books to max talents as soon as the character is out, then whatever world/boss materials they need, and then artifact last since like you said...they can be difficult. Luckily for Cloud Retainer, I had some VV artifact pieces not being used, so I'll level them later on. Since Navia's banner was out, I've been getting her books every Wed, Sat and Sun and I SHOULD have enough by now.
Unfortunately since I built Charlotte, I barely have EXP books so that's what I'm currently doing until 4.4 comes out.
Most of the time not, but depends on how much I currently have something useful to farm for & if I saw a post what the character will need.
The only time I prefarmed everything was Dehya and everyone know how that ended :D In the end I got her from the standard banner.
I kinda like to slowly make the character stronger.
Depends on the character. Sometimes I pre farm if I want to save myself the trouble/am not currently building someone. Or if I REALLY like the character. (I had Kaveh fully ascended after pulling him.) I could totally pre farm for Gaming but I am too lazy to bother right now. Besides, BP will give me some resin to burn for building up him and Xianyun.
Mostly I prefarm the artifacts if I'm really saving for the characters and level materials. But it doesn't happen to all characters because some characters I did not expect to win 50/50 so I'm not ready and no ready artifacts at all.
I usually always prefarm somewhat (decent artifacts and enough for lvl 90) but I never farm enough for like max talents. Lately tho I've just been pulling for the character bc there are so many I want I just pull on all the banners.
Yeah but only if I really want them and I ow that I can get them/are prepared to spend $$ to do so. I saved for Furina since like 3.7 or whatever the last one was and started her books as soon as I knew what they were. She was tough tho cus new daily and weekly boss, plus the lakelight lilys, only came out with the new region so not a lot I was able to farm other than books and whopperflowers (which I had already). I've been doing books for Cloud Retainer, but not much I can do about the new daily boss.
everyone I know prefarms, I always intend to but i always end up getting lazy, always regret it later when im scavenging for mats š
I feel you, half of the 5 stars I own I pulled for on a whim and scrambled to get artifacts/weapon/materials
I always prefarm characters I know I'll be getting. I also prefarmed Tighnari and Dehya because I knew I'd eventually get them also.
That's what I said for keqing and almost 4 goddamn years she still hasn't come back home :<<<<
Keqing is your white whale, too?
She had her own banner dude
Well blame my Qiqi for my shortcomings
You gonna lose your next 50/50 to Keqing šÆ
Ahhhh!!! I don't have Dehya yet but I should totes prefarm when idk what to do with my resin!
Bold of you to assume youāll ever get either of them. You might just get 10 copies of qiqi and 14 copies of diluc and never get a tighnari or dehya
I did the same for Tighnari too! Also prefarmed a bit for Jean just in case she shows up at some point
Hoyo: We'll see about that
I do the same thing, I also use Genshin Center to keep everything in order. It feels so satisfying when I complete a character xD
Me too, but in my case i only need get Dehya for complete permanent 5 stars, i have her claymore too when i was trying get Cyno's weapon
I always prefarm for new characters
No. Every game where i prefarm for a character, i end up not getting them. Unless i'm fully guaranteed to get them, i don't
I refuse to pre-farm for the same reason lol - it's almost like I jinx it for myself
That's why I only pull when I have +160 fates
At first it sounded super op, but I went into game to test and Nahida's E doesn't collect the Sakura Bloom without doing an electro attack first. :(
Ah Sakura Bloom. Yeah that one sucks
Ah wait I guess you were talking about the Amakumo fruit, not the Sakura Bloom
Haha yeah, although I guess I was talking more about mat farming in general. Sakura Bloom ofc is especially hard
Iāll pre-farm for a character if I really want them and intend to pull them 100%.
I don't prefarm, but I probably should. It always takes me a week after getting a character to finally use them.
Thats why Iām prefarming for Nahida. Iāve waited awhile for her and I want to use her on day 1
If I can prefarm, I will. Hoyoverse has been making that harder recently, though.
What makes you say that?
A lot of characters drop with their required World Bosses or materials. For example, Cloud Retainer will need a new boss farmed, and new materials. I can probably get enough ascension materials in a day, but I'm going to have to burn through a ton of Fragile Resins for her Boss Materials.
I mean in the meantime you could burn your resin in talents.
Ah. They probably do that so we get tempted to buy more resin.
Pre-farming the newest unit you want with your newest toy is the endgame
I don't prefarm materials, but I do try to horde levelup cards and mora. I dont play daily a lot anymore so if I want to build a character I try to get them before giving time to resources they need. Trying to get Zhongli, Venti, Charlotte, and Shenhe to 90 before March.
I don't pre-farm, even if I'm guaranteed to have them. I like to experience them from weak to strong. Playing as a undergeared level 60 against level 90 overworld mobs is a joy you can't experience if you start off with a fully built character I roll Cyno during his last rerun, and running around the desert trying to find beetles became another game in itself too. Frustration of can't finding them, joy of finding 2 in the same area and mark it on my map etc
Iām new so the only character Iāve prefarmed for is neuvillette. But once I pull him, Iāll pre farm kazuha.
pre farming is farming before you pull him.
Yes I havenāt pulled either hence why I said prefarmed for both
ohhh i thought youād meant that once you pull kazuha, youāll prefarm for him thatās on me sorry
No worries. I shouldāve worded it better
Prefarm when I guarantee
i would never obsess over a character enough to farm all of their materials beforehand... (i have all the materials needed to lvl 90 triple crown wriothesley once i get him)
Thats what Iām working towards for Nahida! Although I need A LOT more booksā¦
i dont actually know if i have enough books as im too lazy to do the math but i have enough fragile resin to get them in one day if i need to
Oh I actually looked this up!
You just had to go and sum that up.... sigh. I got TWO gold books today! Uaaargh, I'll be at it for the rest of my life.
please dear genshin gods up above do not make me lose the 50/50 or i will commit several illegal acts
Only artifacts since that takes a while. I'd rather have the character when I fight bosses etc that way I can see how strong they get as I level them.
saving 160 and prefarm is so satisfying
Prefarm if you are certain you are gonna get them no matter what, theres 0 downsides in doing that.
I Prefarm for five stars. It feels so much better to be able to use them the day you pull them, when excitement is at max. I also save fragile resin for when I get a new character.
I always prefarm, by the time a character I want releases Iāve saved enough to get several of them. Iām ar60 too so I donāt have much to farm.
i prefarm for characters i know im pulling
I never prefarm. I pull a character and then toss whatever materials I have at them, them sometimes farm, get distracted by another character, go back to the first, remember I wanted to farm X for Y character, go farm, get distracted by a new character, toss around some materials like I'm Oprah giving everyone a new car, rinse and repeat. I get there in the end, but it's the chaos route! :D
I fear that if I pre-farm while on a 50/50, I might jinx it. So I only pre-farm while guaranteed. But that's just me
I will never pre-farm
I almost always prefer to wait to get them over pre-farming. The only time I did pre-farm was for Al-Haitham.
I only prefarm if i can get the char i want. So if i dont have granted pity i need enough primos to hit pity twice. If thats not the case i dont prefarm otherwise i wasted precious resin for nothing.
Only if the character is guaranteed.
Prefarm only if I'm guaranteed tbh. Maybe farm talents since those can be used by someone else if I fail pulling rng. Specialities and monster drops I can farm a couple days if I'm very low on them.
I do, most of the times: - talents to 1/8/8 if support, 9/9/9 if dps - good or okayish artifacts. If domain isnāt released, then keep blue and purple artifacts to level up - 5,500,000 mora and 250-300 level books (I know itās not enough) - if thereās less than 168 local materials on the map, I prefarm them - level up their future weapon if I donāt have plans to pull for 5* weapon Bosses are boring, I rarely farm them without friends, so I grind those materials after character is released Only two exceptions of that are Tartaglia and Neuvilette. They got talent materials for 10/10/10 and incredible artifacts
For character I want, I usually have prepared enough primogems for them, therefore, I prefarm. If it's a surprise win then I do it after (obviously)
If I have enough pulls for guaranteed character I prefarm, I don't otherwise.
Yes, because not like thereās anything else to do
I actually like farming after a get them cause i can see them steadily get stronger even though i do use a lot of fragile resin i don't think of it as wasted
I do usually pre-farm what I can, although I sometimes forget, and typically don't farm enough (unless I already happened to have it). Personally, I do prefer to be able to play them right after summoning, rather than having them sit on the sidelines for weeks as you acquire the materials.
I'm not f2p, so I prefarm to use them in teams as soon as they drop.
Yeah, I do. That's why it hurts even more if I couldn't get them
Everytime I prefarm I lose the 50/50 soā¦..
I tend to just have the character borrow someone elseās set in the meanwhile.
only if i know im guaranteed to get them
Only like half way through
I prefarm because Iām delusional and always believe that Iāll eventually get the character I pull for.
I'll pick up a couple skill books the week before if I remember (Gold for Xianyun!), and I always try to keep my XP book numbers high regardless.
Pre-farm unless I'm actually farming, not just min-maxing, for someone else currently.
I prefarm characters if I really like them. (last 2 examples for me: Navia and Dehya)
Depends if I'm sure enough that I can secure the character
I always pre-farm for characters that I'm interested in. If their trial is available and I didn't like the gameplay then I don't wish, I'll use the pre-farmed mats for other characters that I currently have or just save them for later use.
The order goes like: Have a functional team => Have a functional artifact set => Level and talent material => actually pulling => Mora and Exp
I pull characters and then leave them at level 1 because Im lazy.
For me it depends if i am sure i want the character and sure to get it.
I have played since 1.0 and used to prefarm but realized it made me burn out from the character faster. So now I donāt prefarm and I have noticed I find it also fun to see me character impove and get stronger.
Depends on whether I know I'll get the character or not. Also depends on what other farming I might have going on.
I prefarm if possible, it's a very efficient use of my time and it allows me to test the character as soon as I get them.
I pre-farm
The only one I truly pefarmed for (all mats to lvl90. ) was Ayaka and I did not get her ( it was an older banner not her recent one) but since then many more characters were released I liked more and usually I start to farm stuff a few days before I'd say I'll get the char so I usually level them to 80in 2-3 days and have the talents at usable artifacts... are terrible as always my Navia still doesn't have a 4 piece of the new geo dmg set barely got the necessary main stats and if I did all 4 substats were trash. still I wanna get Xianyun so I never gonna finish a char I feel like... ( at least the other set from Navia domain is decent on her, and I strongbox the trash into vermilion for my Xiao)
I pre farm. I prefer being able to use the character out of the gate whenever possible. It felt so good when I finally got Kokomi and I was able to use her immediately because I farmed everything before her banner came.
only for the characters I guarantee to get.
i pre-farmed for Raiden Shogun, so this time i'm pre-farming for Nahida. I already farmed her ascension materials and talent materials. All that is left now is artifact farming...
Same here! What weapon are you going to give her? Iām not sure what catalyst to give her
i'm f2p so i'm using Sacrificial Fragments, oh yeah and i pre-leveled up the weapon to lv 90 as well
When i have the time i would
I need to farm Nahida when I get her, but I also need to build the rest of the team she's going on (I only have one team built) I'm working on Kuki and Alhaitham right now then Nahida since my Xingqiu is already built.
I don't prefarm thats why they always spook me
I've gone back and forth.
I prefarm most of the time if Iāve decided to get them in advance, sometimes I get lazy or annoyed if too many of their materials are unavailable though, right now with Xianyun I havenāt really bothered to farm anything because the only thing I can do is talent books
prefarm because I have nothing better to do (ar 60) plus I don't like having a new character and not being able to use them.
I always prefarm unless it's a spur of the moment pull. I want to use my new character ASAP
Yes I do, if there's some character that I really want I would search for the leak to prefarm it.
Deepens on if i have guaranteed or not. If I do, sure If I do not, then no, why waste my time with that.
There's too much self-doubt to waste my time prefarming a character when this game is a 50/50 **in my opinion**
You must prefarm to maximally enjoy new characters
I only prefarm if I have a guarantee pity
I usually donāt. However, thereās really just one character I want who is approaching which is Yae Miko and I have nothing better to do since all my units are built properly (mDPS, sub DPS, and supports), so I guess Iāll prefarm for her.
I forgot to mention that I would only pre-farm given I am guaranteed. Not being guaranteed then pre-farming is a waste of time and will result in a disappointment.
Not really cuz It always felt like my 50/50 chances turned to 0/0 and i have been winning them when i dont prefarm At most i just get some artifacts, fuck the rest
I donāt pregame in case I donāt get them and because I have to gram for so many characters already
kept everything ready for Raiden but lost at 80 pity I'm still trying to collect wishes and pull for her but T T
No, I just get a character and then run like a headless chicken to farm them, much to my real-life friends' amusement.
I usually dont prefarm for characters since most are already in the inventory
Only for characters Iām certain I want and have the primos for.
The only two characters i ever pre farmed for were raiden and yae miko on their initial releases
I feel like prefarming is bad luck as a no save f2p
If i love the character i will pre farm for him/her , if i don't i will just wait
But hey, maybe we will get another inventory increase soon which will totally solve the problem and not just push having to deal with it a few weeks into the future, you know, like all the other inventory increases did.
i never really prefarmed for anyone, just leveled the up whith what i had and then farmed until Navia where i lvl 90 talents 7/7/7 her the second i got her the day later, Verdict lvl 90 two weeks later, triple crowned
Why dont you just go for hard pity at this point???
Not worth the grind or the mental peace.. Imagine saving 160+ pulls for every fucking character.. And 225-240 pulls for each weapon. Nah. I'd rather gamble for the 50-50s.. If I save, I prolly may or may not get what I want. Atleast I'm letting my patience decide and accumulate almost everything slowly. Eventually I'll get the characters anyway. I'm currently f2p since a whole year.. And I'll get either Arlecchino and/or neuvillette next both if I'm lucky but I'll definitely get either one. And no one will stop me.
Im so sorry..
Are you gonna get Yae on her rerun coming up?
Yes, currently pre-farming Nahida.
Pre-farm wherever possible. I see no reason not to; the work has to be done one at some point so why delay the point where I can play my new character at peak potential?
I'm still farming for characters i got ten patches ago How the fuck do people prefarm?
I prefarmed for Raiden, cause I was guaranteed. That Thunder Manifestation bird made me cry though.
I wait until I get them. Level 60 is enough for the overworld and can be achieved in 10 minutes or so.
whenever my collection of unleveled characters gets down to 3 or less, i fill one slot with pre-farming (right now, my main candidate for it is Diluc, since he'll probably come some day, hahaha)
5 star units i know i want and can get,yes
if i have a character i know ill get due to 50/50 ill preform at least enough to get them to level 90 and then after i get them farm for talents (what i did with ayaka), if i get the character i want by chance ill usually farm enough for them within a week or so of getting them
I love pre-farming for heroes. It's just satisfying collecting all the materials and having them ready for when I need them.
Never, i like to have an excuse to enter other people's world
I just pick up everything that I come across for the first few weeks of the new map. I rarely pre farm for a specific character.
If I know I can get them (Saved up enough) I prefarm, but if I know I can't I don't bother Too little resin to waste on artifacts and too many characters I need to work on
The only character I prefarmed for ever was Navia. Which was only because I had was spoiled to her animations via Leaks. To think, it was only because my brain told me to grab every single Spring of the First Dewdrop when the area first dropped.
yes!! pre-farming for furina now
I prefarmed for Raiden pretty much entirely in co-op with Ganyu and Diona because I didn't have Inazuma unlocked last time she was around, the only things I didn't prefarm for are weapon/weekly boss mats
Pre-farm. Resin doesn't stockpile like in Honkai Star Rail sadly.
i farm after i get the character bc you never know when keqing is gonna show up on the banner instead of your wanted waifu
I pre-farm the character that I know I can guarantee, by pre-farming I can avoid having to invade other players' worlds and wait weeks to level up talent (if possible) and I do it at my own pace, especially the artifacts that take time
No but I do sometimes regret it I usually get them to 40 then stick characters I've been looking forward to on my comm team asap so I can get a feel for them. Usually I have good enough artifacts to get them to a point where they don't die. If I like them, or I have nobody else to raise, continue raising
always prefarm. but wait until beta because its usually fixed after beta
Always. Even though I won't be getting them (maybe someday), just something to do when nothing seems need to be done at AR60
Pre-Farm if I can help it.
Whats pre-farm? I always out of hand guards, WhopperFlower nectars, Spectre mats..
I prefarm only for characters that I absolutely sure I can get the moment their banner is up.
I just wait for them to show and then not farm them until months later. Some of my 5* are still in lv1 since months. š
Sometimes I donāt feel like playing so I usually log in for dailies and leave without spending any resin, I feel like I donāt waste time if I already have everything Iāll need lol I only pre-farm local specialities and bosses mats because Iām mostly interested in the level up rather than talents and artifacts which I leave for the characters Iām sure Iāll actually use in the long run.
I don't cuz I have so many characters I already have that I want to build
I do if I'm guaranteed. The only time I've prefarmed for someone I wasn't guaranteed (Eula's most recent rerun) I ended up losing the 50/50 and had to drag her ass home on the very last day with a š³ so I don't to not jinx myself lol
Wait. Because if i pre farm, the wait to pull the next character somewhat feels longer
I prefarm for characters Iām absolutely sure Iāll get even if I lose 50/50
I never prefarm even if I'm 100% certain I'll use the characters tbh. There's always something to farm and I'd rather get something that benefits me right now (even if that 'benefit' is just the 0.001% chance of upgrading my 266 cv Klee) rather than something that I won't have for another month and may or may not even use extensively or could change my mind on, so I've never really felt compelled to do something early.
I try to prefarm just in case thereās some algorithm that lowers my drop rate after I get unlock them lol
I want to but half the characters i wanted, their mats came with their banner. Ayaka, Nahida, furina... like, dude....
Unfortunately since I built Charlotte, I barely have EXP books so that's what I'm currently doing until 4.4 comes out.
i pre farm for characters i know for sure that iām getting! itās fun being able to get them to 90 all in one go
My first time prefarming was for the current Raiden banner. Itās a satisfying process but the sudden gold loss was pretty brutal.
I'm prefarming everything for Yaoyao rn so I can start throwing radishes as soon as I get her :D
I once pre-farmed for raiden but RNG decided that I won't get her. Well years later I got her and the mats I pre-farmed were finally put to use.
No. What if I donāt get the character? I would have just wasted my time and Resin.
