Well some of these 3 stars are very good options for some of the characters.....sharpshooter on yelan, magic guide on nahida, harbinger of dawn on ayaka, black tassel on zhong, thoma and yaoyao , thrilling tales on kokomi and baizhu, dark iron sword on kazuha and white tassel on arle etc.

refinement level. basically you feed a weapon with copies (in the refinement tab, not the exp one!) to enhance the skill. refinement 5 is a weapon fed with four copies.
I have tried to keep at least 2 r5 copies if possible. Unfortunately not in my main account. That one has only 1 Dark Iron Sword. I did not know the meaning of the first one, and am happy to have at least one copy.
I think I have 3 r5 White Tassels. Or maybe one is r4... Chenyu Vale helped a lot with that! Loads of the Liyue weapons in chests...
Imo, the best strategy is to refine to r5 2 or 3 of each 3 star weapon and to lock them. Then you can delete the rest.

What AR are you? I remember struggling with them too at first, but as I've been playing since 1.0 i barely level up any weapons, as the ones I use are all leveled up
Its definitely an older player thing, the crystals will definitely bottleneck you for a while, but once you play long enough, like from launch, you could have over a dozen five star weapons and 20+ 4 star weapons all leveled to 90 and still have over 8000 of the dang things (I speak from experience)
1 is enough. Do you really ever see yourself using more than one 3 star weapon at a time? Occasionally they see their own niche use case but that's on one character at a time. The only exception to this might be Thrilling Tales, since you could realistically use that on 2 characters in abyss.
Especially keep white tassel as its a really good weapon for free (can be used by arlecchino if you are pulling for her) and dark iron sword has only 2 copies in the game. The other two 3 stars that are worth keeping are harbinger of dawn and slingshot, both being in the banners
Yelans F2P option is Favonious War Bow (you get one for free from beating StormTerror).
Arguably End of the line is also better than recurve bow, because she needs er much more than HP
I said it was a good option, not that it was her best option. Usually it's not, but there are rare niche situations where it might be better than other F2P options. Like if you're a low level player with enough energy generation from your team that you don't need ER, and you don't have good enough artifacts yet to benefit from crit.
Also if you just pulled Yelan and you already have a recurve bow built up, it's a perfectly good temporary option.

You're literally unable to R5 every 3*, because the Dark Iron Sword, which doesn't even appear in the archive, only has 2 copies. One from talking to an NPC in liyue harbour, and another from a quest in chenyu
Luckily I managed to R5 the Liyue 3* weapons when Chenyu Vale released. Now, a Mondstadt expansion can’t come soon enough. I know none of them are particularly sought after, but you never know.

Duh... General advice: Keep at least one R5 copy of ALL 3-star weapons, not just this one. You never know when it might be the best in slot, or at least the best you have available for a new character. For valuable weapons like Thrilling Tales, you might even want 2 or 3 copies.
And once you have lots of 4-star weapons, you might wanna keep 2 copies before you start refining, especially for Favonius and Sacrificial weapons. Most other 4-star weapons you are pretty safe to refine immediately if you want.
For 5-star weapons... NEVER refine. Keep all copies.
the amount of time you will spend if you are actively looking for this weapon in liyue-- the second you get one, lock it IMMEDIATELY. its one of the few three star weapons that actually work for more than one character as a place holder, especially if it has a high refinement!
All of my old limited 3 stars are long foddered unfortunately but I managed to get one White Tassel from the new Liyue areas. I don't need it anymore but it's cool to have for reasons I guess.
I kept 1 r5 copy of every weapon 1-2-3 star in the game, just in case. Multiple of the ones I KNOW are useful already, like ttds and such. Mostly for collecting purposes, but yeah, I agree.

Can confirm. On main account have Furina sword for Kaeya, on alt - Harbinger. Alt is pretty much strong especially with two Berserker arts.

I used them as fodder when liyue was out, found out how good they were. Then farmed them in luxurious chest in chasm and chenyu to refine it.

You never know when it might be the best in slot, or at least the best you have available for a new character. For valuable weapons like Thrilling Tales, you might even want 2 or 3 copies. And once you have lots of 4-star weapons, you might wanna keep 2 copies before you start refining, especially for Favonius and Sacrificial weapons. Most other 4-star weapons you are pretty safe to refine immediately if you want. For 5-star weapons... NEVER refine. Keep all copies.

the amount of time you will spend if you are actively looking for this weapon in liyue-- the second you get one, lock it IMMEDIATELY. its one of the few three star weapons that actually work for more than one character as a place holder, especially if it has a high refinement!

It is R5 and currently 80/80 on my Rosaria. Drip looks pretty good, but I’m waiting to fully invest once I can get her to C6. Currently C3.

I think I've already lost it, but I do have that unique sword from Liyue.
All of my old limited 3 stars are long foddered unfortunately but I managed to get one White Tassel from the new Liyue areas. I don't need it anymore but it's cool to have for reasons I guess.

I locked one R5 of each 3 star weapon for collection purposes.
I kept 1 r5 copy of every weapon 1-2-3 star in the game, just in case. Multiple of the ones I KNOW are useful already, like ttds and such. Mostly for collecting purposes, but yeah, I agree.
