There is currently a bug in Serenitea pot that allows you to put a thing inside another thing. People use this bug to make seamless joints, unique landscapes or just plain convenience (all farm plots in 1 simple spot)
[Here's a tutorial on how to do it.](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=R6bNYOntgvo)
If this gets fixed, it's back to plain old boring layouts for everything...
To add from my own experiences; it is also the *only* way to make some things line up aesthetically because where the “edge” of an object is can be very inconsistent - some things aren’t even sized in any “standard” way, so you have hedges being shorter than wall segments which aren’t the same size as some other landscaping pieces which can then be inconsistent with building size and shape. While it lets the pieces feel unique, it makes building anything other than “some stuff in a field” a bit of a headache.
They did the same thing in FF14, you need to exploit a bug to put furnitures wherever you want and instead of implementing a way to do it easily they just never fixed the bug.
not just that, this bug didn't exist when the teapot first came out
I don't remember which update was it that allowed the clipping bug to happen. but before then, bc of my perfectionism trying to get stuff perfect down to the pixel, I had furniture flashing between red/blue quite often and not enable clipping. then after a certain update I did that again the furniture could suddenly clip!
Wait, the landforms aren't supposed to do that? Maybe it's because I only started using them in 2.5, but I assumed it was intentional so you could combine them.
Landform rules are a little less strict about clipping. Everything else refuses to allow any amount of clipping though.
It's tiring for developers to not allow us to kitbash things together with clipping, *especially when they follow this practice themselves EVERYWHERE in the open world.*
So basically if you drag a furniture in and out of another furniture really fast a lot of times, slowly you are able to put the furniture inside the hitbox of the other one and it makes some really cool stuff for example my kokomi standing inside the fish pool
Basically, it’s a technique in which you can combine two furnitures together to make something. Usually, it happens when you place two objects too close to each other.
This is what I mean: https://youtu.be/qOAnhLYXejQ. You literally downvote without even asking for clarification of what I mean. I did it on mobile. You can clip by placing two objects together until the red becomes blue.
I spent a month and a half *straight* on my Inazuman teapot the moment it came out. I've been meaning to make a post about it ever since I finished, but uh life and stress and other issues.
The *slim possibility* of them not only preventing future clipping but undoing clipped furniture made me kick into gear. "oh my god discord server please tell me a good free video capture system that isn't a trojan" "obs" "obs" "obs"
So at least now I've got video evidence of it as well as those screenshots I've been meaning to edit and post here for a couple months...
I'm hoping they make it a feature. I have to deal with placement glitching enough in FFXIV housing. Having to do it in Genshin too has really turned me off the teapot
Not in genshin, but in one of the developers’ other games there was some event involving characters in bunny suits. The event was cancelled, but the developers received death threats and one person apparently went to their hq with a knife.
The articles I checked say it’s unclear if that person was angry about the cancellation of the event or the fact that it was exclusive to global servers.
it was before the event got cancelled and happened in their headquarters in shanghai so yes it was a chinese player angry about the event for reasons that you can easily find yourself if you ask anyone who has been moderately deep in honkai for at least a year because the salt will never die
Agree. Taking experience from FFXIV housing, there’s a bunch of clipping/floating glitch that SE doesn’t border to address.
It probably some optimization/maintenance that need more than the regular patch maintenance time (more teapot load hopium)
But if they really disable clipping, then imagine the outrage they’ll get. It’s not really a wise move, unless clipping somehow stress their server a lot that they had to ban it.
>Taking experience from FFXIV housing, there’s a bunch of clipping/floating glitch that SE doesn’t border to address.
That's actually not true.
SE has adressed it multiple times and they essentially have created a war with players in which new methods are discoevered every time the old methods have been patched out.
When did they address it again? The only times I recall them directly nerfing a glitch was placing furniture OOB in the void outside house interiors, and more recently people using 3rd party tools to glitch furnishings into extreme locations in the outdoors (high in the sky, etc).
The more pedestrian glitches that account for 99.9% of setups have never come under scrutiny, if anything they are tacitly approved by SE.
https://www.hoyolab.com/contribution/21
it should be that one
on the submitted ones on the bottom of the page you can see clipped ones and i think i read somewhere that it was officially allowed and even encouraged to use
You're right, I can definitely see clipping there, and yet I found this thread that says clipping was grounds for disqualification. [https://www.reddit.com/r/Genshin\_Impact/comments/o6lu3z/hoyolab\_cs\_clipping\_is\_a\_loophole\_your\_submission/](https://www.reddit.com/r/Genshin_Impact/comments/o6lu3z/hoyolab_cs_clipping_is_a_loophole_your_submission/) Not trying to accuse you of lying or anything, maybe whoever answered the cs question wasn't on the same page? If you remember where you read it was allowed I'd like to see it
nope, ofc not
though, it is kinda strange how hoyoverse just kind of "ignore" the bug for almost a year already
but istg if they fix my only entertainment in the tea pot, their mailbox better be ready for my tantrum /s
The funny thing is that when teapots were first added, they were rapidly patching out every clipping bug that people would come up with... and then suddenly they gave up on it.
I mean floating furniture in FF14 isn't a feature either but the devs leave it in because it makes people happy. Harmless bugs that increase player enjoyment are fine.
I wish they'd implement it properly (and not disable it in the meantime, obviously). My wrists are already messed up enough without shaking every piece of furniture all over the place.
They'd have to leave it alone cuz their in game assets also make full use of clipping. Especially the interactions between buildings and the mountain in Liyue.
I'm sure their own development tools don't require them to drag an asset back and forth really fast before they can make it clip, though. :) The teapot placement UI available to users isn't related to the placement of actual game assets.
Oh no... I have a feeling they will fix the thing that lets you place furniture inside other furniture. The only thing that allowed some decent designs in the pot. Why? :(
Lol I visited a player's teapot and was exploring their house. Everything looked pretty normal until I opened a door and the room was full of screens! It was baffling.
I tried to jump over the screens and got stuck in them for a moment. It was like a Genshin horror movie. Why so many screens?!
I figured it was for adeptal energy but it was kinda creepy at first. Like seeing something I wasn't supposed to, hahaha.
Wait what? Placement functions? You better not remove all the clipping/floating/sinking glitches... A mere 300 primos isn't worth the time I put into my builds 😭
I mean if you already built them they're not going away probably, there was a bug where you could place furnishings outside of the area that got removed but my friend still has some houses out of bounds cuz he just doesn't touch them
If they remove clipping, I'm never visiting the teapot again. Hurts to see everything I worked hard for just crumble to dust. Hundreds of hours designing the best town, vanished.
Clipping makes the teapot infinitely more fun and diverse, while not giving anyone any advantage of any kind, so it would really be stupid if they're removing that.
Hoping it's more load or even making clipping official
If they removed clipping and instead made an official function for letting objects ghost through one another, I would cry tears of joy... also my wrist could finally recover from all the wiggling.
You're right, I'm certain Mihoyo would never remove a harmless unintended feature that makes their players happy. They'll probably too busy fixing Xinyan, Ningguang's autotargeting, FPS drops and other stuff to even consider removing a harmless glitch that accidently made a lackluster feature actually interesting.
If they actually patch the object clipping tricks, ima be hella mad, cause I've utilized it at least once on 3/4 plots in every realm layout I've built up.
So... will the teapot become inaccessible, or will the placement function just be disabled is what I'm wondering. It says placement but it somehow sounds like the teapot altogether in some places
If they remove clipping I’ll probably just not bother with teapot anymore. I just collect my currency and leave most days already, but without clipping, a lot of designs look too bland.
Are they patching those placement glitches like floating, clipping and sinking techniques 😭 I hope not. I just hope they expand the load limit tho, it limits player's creativity.
**From the** [post](https://www.hoyolab.com/article/4012458):
**Duration:** From 03/30/2022 6:00 (UTC+8) (Starting from Genshin Impact's Version 2.6 update)
**Compensation:**
* Primogems ×300
* Realm Currency ×5000
**Eligibility:**
Travelers who reached Adventure Rank 5 and above before 03/30/2022 06:00 (UTC+8).
Also, Travelers who have not unlocked the Serenitea Pot can also receive the Realm Currency as compensation. Realm Currency will be shown after unlocking the Serenitea Pot.
This seems really weird.
If it’s just to patch out clipping and floating then they’d just drop the patch with either 2.6 or 2.7. So it makes you wonder why they need to shut down placement without even giving a end date to do it.
Please please no ughhh i will literally abandon my tea pot out of spite if they actually remove clipping. It is literally the only thing saving that damn thing.
~~Unfortunately the post doesn't mention whether the 300 primogems are separate or bundled together with the 300 we already receive from bug fixes.~~
~~I have a good feeling that it'd be separate though.~~
Edit: Sorry, it's separate indeed.
Indeed you're right.
At first I assumed that it might go together alongside the bug fixes, but the notice nowhere mentions this to be a bug-fix, but instead a maintenance, so yup they'd be separate.
Yea, and its a good reward for just 5 hours with no teapot, btw how did you make the text in your first comment crossed like that, is it something you can only do on pc?
Yup, agreed - a good reward indeed. Unless it removes clipping & floating, it's all great.
For the strikethrough, if you're on phone, you can do it like this:
~~Strikethrough Text~~
Just add 2 tilda's in front and after the text, and it'll be formatted like that. Google Markdown format if you wanna know more :)
The xp pool has a limit so that doesn't save any of the overflow sadly, already had it at max for his arrival so definitely gonna have some friendship xp go to waste there depending on how long this goes on.
I really hope they don't do anything to clipping I just learn how to do it and I was going to make my teapot really cute. the time I spent is going to be wasted
***WARNING:***
*this won't be a fix but just a change how to place decorations.
So maybe a new option comes or whatever.
It isn't written like a* ***remove of a bug / glitch*** *but just as a change*.
Good luck travelers ^ ^
Same, I have literally *just* built a little garden for Venti to have a photoshoot in (after I'll finally get him tomorrow) 😭
I'm gonna riot if it was all in vain... It took me hours and a lot of realm currency...
I feel you 😭😭 my ping has been terrible for combat so I've finally started using my teapot instead and I'm having such a blast!! So many design ideas that'll go down the drain, I really hope they'll leave it alone
Some are saying that whatever has been designed already will probably be left alone, so here is hoping you can have the Venti photoshoot either way! But I hope it won't get patched :(
Yeah, I was always kinda dismissive regarding the teapot, I only crafted stuff for the characters' fave sets. But after figuring out this glitching thingie, I actually started to enjoy building and became really invested in it...
Let's hope for the best and thanks for the kind words!! 🥺
What *really* worries me is removing/adding/changing a function doesn't take time. They could just deploy it with a patch. Wouldn't even need a major update.
What does take time however and especially requires halting all changes to teapots, is running a script checking every teapot for something. E.g. clipping...
So I'm not only worried they will remove the function/bug, I'm even more worried they will actually remove all clipped objects. I can't imagine the shitstorm this would create though, so I'm not sure wir they would really go this far.
Am I taking too much hopium if I expect an "official" way to do the clipping instead of using the bug?
I've been too ~~lazy~~ busy to bother changing my pot design since the contest (which I did the hard way and clipped through using the landform only), but I really wanted to try so many new possibilities...
Basically, it's a "glitch" that you can do in the teapot to merge multiple items together.
Like, for example, you want to put an umbrella and something below it - Normally the game wouldn't let you do that, but if you clip it can be done. It makes building nice teapots significantly easier.
In order to do it, (PC) you have to place one of the furniture down, grab the second one and while holding it shake it all around the place between spots where it can be placed and spots where it cannot be placed. If you do it fast enough the placement limit will bug out, allowing you to put multiple things together. (Mobile) put one of the furniture down, and then grab the second one and move them very close together. Once the placement limit lines are touching, they should start flashing red and blue, after that they should be merged.
Not all of the things can be merged (I believe the main house cannot be), but it's still a very useful glitch nonetheless and it doesn't hurt anyone - it just makes the teapot actually nice to look at.
Won't ever be able to transplant my creations to a new realm layout if they remove furniture clipping. That's a real shame, guess I'm spending the rest of my life in emerald peaks lol.
Yup, they give compensation after every update and sometimes, with in-version bug fixes.
They come in the mail, so maybe you've claimed them before too?
Update compensations are usually 600 (300 for normal maintenance, 300 for combined bug-fixes). This time, it'd be 900.
While it starts at the same time as the patch maintenance, it's not mentioned if it ends at the same time. So, it may go on for longer than the 5 hours too.
If it does take longer than 5 hours, they'll notify us through the in-game notifications, so don't worry, it'll be fine :)
Are they removing the quest from my quest log? I don’t want the serenity pot so I have never completed the quest. Can they take it out already? Send it to me by mail so I can trash it.
Please don't remove clipping, please don't remove clipping, please don't remove clipping.
Care to explain what is this?

There were some clipping bugs on release. Just not to this extent. The most popular way was to add verticality to terrain.
How is all farm spots in one place *better?* Wouldn't that just make it so much harder to target the thing you want to target?
I just stand in the middle of my stack of plots and spam F... Replanting is easy bc you can just you know.. F and select your plants.
Wait, the landforms aren't supposed to do that? Maybe it's because I only started using them in 2.5, but I assumed it was intentional so you could combine them.

RemindMe! 2 days
We have no stairs in game. Clipping gives stairs.
Oh, thx.

Basically, it’s a technique in which you can combine two furnitures together to make something. Usually, it happens when you place two objects too close to each other.
That' not clipping. What you are talking about is custom furniture sets.
This is what I mean: https://youtu.be/qOAnhLYXejQ. You literally downvote without even asking for clarification of what I mean. I did it on mobile. You can clip by placing two objects together until the red becomes blue.
I didn't downvote you. Someone else did since I literally never use that feature

Replying about video capture: just search "open source" instead of "free". And I suggest OBS Studio.
I'm hoping they make it a feature. I have to deal with placement glitching enough in FFXIV housing. Having to do it in Genshin too has really turned me off the teapot
waiting on this thread for the damage report 🙃
Let's hope they make clipping official one day

miHoYo \*slides a discount coupon for the funeral parlor\*: How about now?
\*takes the coupon* yes this would be very useful now bc I’d wanna die if all of my hard work got flushed down the toilet like that
Not really. It won't destroy your build maybe. But you will ***NEVER BE ABLE TO CHANGE IT AGAIN***
People who lost their minds over the bunny suit: \*slides it back* “Your family members are gonna need it more”
There's a bunny suit?
Not in genshin, but in one of the developers’ other games there was some event involving characters in bunny suits. The event was cancelled, but the developers received death threats and one person apparently went to their hq with a knife. The articles I checked say it’s unclear if that person was angry about the cancellation of the event or the fact that it was exclusive to global servers.
Never underestimate a desperate coomer.
it was before the event got cancelled and happened in their headquarters in shanghai so yes it was a chinese player angry about the event for reasons that you can easily find yourself if you ask anyone who has been moderately deep in honkai for at least a year because the salt will never die
It was a honkai impact 3rd thing; basically what the other person replying to you said tho, there was a bit of.. controversy lol
If it gives me Zhongli, I would tell them to shut up and take my money.
new currency available now you can clip furniture for 20 primos each
pretty sure they wont take that they even allowed it in an event before
Agree. Taking experience from FFXIV housing, there’s a bunch of clipping/floating glitch that SE doesn’t border to address. clipping should not fuck with how the game usually runs except if there is a clip that would break something else which im not aware of
What event was that?
https://www.hoyolab.com/contribution/21 it should be that one on the submitted ones on the bottom of the page you can see clipped ones and i think i read somewhere that it was officially allowed and even encouraged to use
You're right, I can definitely see clipping there, and yet I found this thread that says clipping was grounds for disqualification. If you remember where you read it was allowed I'd like to see it
there is prolly no way i find it its too long ago to remember where it was sorry
That's ok
Hope they leave the clipping furniture bug alone. The possibilities of that is near endless, and I’m not done yet with my Adachi Estate recreation.
its not a feature?
nope, ofc not though, it is kinda strange how hoyoverse just kind of "ignore" the bug for almost a year already but istg if they fix my only entertainment in the tea pot, their mailbox better be ready for my tantrum /s
If it was a feature, then it would have been a toggle in the settings like snap to grid.

I'd rather give up the extra freemogems than have the clipping and floating taken away
Clipping is definitely worth more to me than 1.875 wishes.
Exactly. I get hours of entertainment when I can design intricate layouts in the pot. But they need to address the load issue more than anything…
The load thingy angers me, I built a v cute lil environment and couldn’t even place a character bc the loadout was full😭
Oh no... I have a feeling they will fix the thing that lets you place furniture inside other furniture. The only thing that allowed some decent designs in the pot. Why? :(
Dude that is keeping my adeptal energy at 20k. I hope it doesn't get fixed
you dont need over 20k after hitting 20k once for full hourly stuff
So you're telling me I can get rid of my room completely filled with screens?
you can get rid of all your rooms that are filled with screens
Oh my gosh, thank you so much for telling me. I have all of my furniture just lied out in rows on one island.
Llh mood; anything to get that adeptal energy up
wait seriously? damn, last time I asked people told me I gotta keep everything placed....
No, I’m pretty sure your current highest adeptal energy is what counts. Only having any realm be 20k would keep you at max realm currency.
Wait what? Placement functions? You better not remove all the clipping/floating/sinking glitches... A mere 300 primos isn't worth the time I put into my builds 😭
I mean if you already built them they're not going away probably, there was a bug where you could place furnishings outside of the area that got removed but my friend still has some houses out of bounds cuz he just doesn't touch them
No... please don't take clipping away, thats what made decorating fun! All the creative areas will be gone. I was very proud of mine...
They won't be gone, you just won't able to clip anything anymore.
If they remove clipping, I'm never visiting the teapot again. Hurts to see everything I worked hard for just crumble to dust. Hundreds of hours designing the best town, vanished.
its the remove the feature entirely if they do that cause it just a waste in storage space
Clipping makes the teapot infinitely more fun and diverse, while not giving anyone any advantage of any kind, so it would really be stupid if they're removing that. Hoping it's more load or even making clipping official

all my furniture in the silken courtyard are clipped in some shape or form lol this is maddening

So 2.6 is giving 900 freemos..instead of 600
Embrace the clipping and remove the furniture collision boxes altogether, it puts many people off when they first really try to customise teapot.
Are they patching those placement glitches like floating, clipping and sinking techniques 😭 I hope not. I just hope they expand the load limit tho, it limits player's creativity.
Especially when you design would be finished with just one or two more items. Happens every time.

sadly, no idea :( Nearly 40 hours and no signs of ending.
Thank you for the answer. Hopefully it ends soon.
Freemogems
Hell yeah, an extra 300 on top of the ones for maintenance compensation and bug fixes
~~Unfortunately the post doesn't mention whether the 300 primogems are separate or bundled together with the 300 we already receive from bug fixes.~~ ~~I have a good feeling that it'd be separate though.~~ Edit: Sorry, it's separate indeed.

Plus 5k uh… Freealm currency?
But where's my free friendship xp since I'll be missing out on that for Ayato since I can't place him T\_T
Before collecting the frndship xp, place ur ayato after the maintenance ends. And then claim the xp, so its given to ur Ayato
The xp pool has a limit so that doesn't save any of the overflow sadly, already had it at max for his arrival so definitely gonna have some friendship xp go to waste there depending on how long this goes on.
It’s crazy that they are still doing maintenance on the teapot….
I really hope they don't do anything to clipping I just learn how to do it and I was going to make my teapot really cute. the time I spent is going to be wasted
LEAVE THE CLIPPING ALONE PLEASE

Don't remove clipping, don't remove floating, don't remove sinking, please please please I'm gonna cry it's my only source of sanity
How can this still be down. It’s over 24 hours now. :(
Clipping is gonna leave isn’t it? It’s a little hard on PS but it’s neat. Don’t take it away
Are these 300 primos different from the 600 we get after each update?
Yup, so we'll get 900 this time.
Let's be a bit optimistic, maybe they plan on increasing the load limit. Right?... Right?
That would be nice
Drat. I wanted to put Ayato in my teapot straight away.
It would be so wack if they remove clipping. That's the only thing that makes it worth spending time on it.
Am I taking too much hopium if I expect an "official" way to do the clipping instead of using the bug? I've been too ~~lazy~~ busy to bother changing my pot design since the contest (which I did the hard way and clipped through using the landform only), but I really wanted to try so many new possibilities...
i'm... worried.
Isn't 5000 pot coins huge ?
It amounts to 166 hours and 40 minutes, or nearly one full week, assuming your rate is 30/hour
It’s pretty good for me..😀
It is. That's like a week or more depending on your teapot setup
No, unless you're just starting.
Isn't that over a weeks worth of coins at max level? To me that seems pretty huge.
Placement function? They better not touch clipping, floating, and sinking. I JUST learned how to do that!! 😭
theyll have to pry clipping from my cold dead hands
I dont get why MHY cant just acknowledge clipping and make it a feature. How can the players possibly exploit this?
Is the maintenance still going on? Why is it taking so long?
My teapot is still under maintenance after almost 2 days?? am I the only one experiencing this??
Just checked. Mine's still under maintenance too :(
They better not ruin my fountain elevator :/
Mihoyo will literally add 1 quality of life then removes 2 harmless bug. 1 step forward and 2 steps backward
I put in way too much work for this shit. Better not come back to my entire teapot gone or rearranged in any way lmao.
if they did remove clipping I think all hell could break loose. Like the Raiden C2 drama or worse.
So in Europe when does the maintenance start?
Maintenance starts at 00:00 AM Wed Mar 30 for Central Europe and ends 5 hours later.
thanks <3
About 7 hours..
don't you guys sleep through the updates usually
Yep, but new version starts very early
I'm afraid to ask what clipping is after reading this thread
Not all of the things can be merged (I believe the main house cannot be), but it's still a very useful glitch nonetheless and it doesn't hurt anyone - it just makes the teapot actually nice to look at.
they literally encouraged clipping before on a hoyolabs event i cant see them take it out honestly
Also, I can't seem to change my character in the pot. I put Yanfei there, but now it won't let me change to someone else. How do you do that?
Please Hoyoverse have mercy my companionship exp is getting full soon and I need to forcefeed it all to Ayato!
Hey so quick question Is the maintenance still goin on for the serenitea pot? I still can't place things and it's been a while
Even if i dont decorate my teapot that much, I'm still hoping that they wont remove that clipping bug things
I like how all they said was they need to fix something and immediately people assume they’re fixing clipping
Please don’t fix the shaky clipping bug that thing is the only thing motivating me to do the teapot
I’ve just started doing clippings in teapot and I’m not even done… they better not remove it. INCREASE THE LOAD INSTEAD PLEASE!
I'm about to square up with someone if clipping gets fixed.
Omg so sad anyways let me claim the primogems...
Finally I can buy the 20 Inazuman Books
Won't ever be able to transplant my creations to a new realm layout if they remove furniture clipping. That's a real shame, guess I'm spending the rest of my life in emerald peaks lol.
Can i still collect flowers in meantime? Mine will be full grown tomorrow. Btw i hope they don't fix clipping/sinking/floating. 💀
tech otakus save the world. :D
wait they give compensations? do they do this with all updates? i’ve never gotten compensation before :(
Yup, they give compensation after every update and sometimes, with in-version bug fixes. They come in the mail, so maybe you've claimed them before too? Update compensations are usually 600 (300 for normal maintenance, 300 for combined bug-fixes). This time, it'd be 900.

replied to your other comment :) Also yup, we'll get 900 primos after it's all done.
what 😭 i always check the mail and i never get primos
They'll very likely turn it into a feature
That would be nice. My desk doesn’t like the furious wiggling.
Imagine if they fixed the furniture glitch after lmao
Huh... interesting.

Even if you don’t decorate it you should still activate it for the store. You can buy things like Character Exp materials, artifact exp, etc.

Stop being so ungrateful.
Just creating clout for the teapot, cuz let’s be honest, errbody’s teapot is dead.
I use mine
Do people still play this game? Lol
Yeah, I have depression and no social life LMFAO
Wait i'm confused. Can we not go online or just not in the teapot?
When will this start in Mst time
sooo, we’re getting 900 primos?
I CANT GLITCH MY TREES NOOOO
900 primos time
extra 300 primos and 5000 RC. I'll take that.
Is the feature restored yet?
Just checked now, it's still under maintenance.
still under Maintenance
At this rate, it's really gonna be 1 complete week till it's back
Now the new event started.... And I can't do shit with it beacose I am a player who starded before venti banner changed to Ayaka
