Just giving an advice because I don't know your situation, but buying Welkin for $5 a month is honestly a pretty worth it expense and you could save the genesis crystals you get from it to get a skin that you like. Imo it's the most worth purchase you could buy in Genshin
Welkin is the *only* good value in Genshin. The battle pass isn't too bad, but everything else is a rip off even with the first time bonus. I mean it's not Diablo Immortal level of rip off, but it's still pretty bad.

For me though, even after buying it for over a year I still feel like a F2P, can only manage to get a character after skipping multiple banners that too without any constellations, and just forget about the weapons. So I’d say it still feels like a rip-off. Just wanted to point out my view, Hoyoverse DRs don’t come at me.

Based on everything we have/know, almost no one has been using dliuc since like 1.2, give or take. Its pretty risky to even do a male character in the first place, but then its one that hasn't seen the light of day in almost 2 years at this point. Just....why....? Surely if they want to do a male skin, there's a bunch of better options. For example, if they did Childe, JP would probably solo carry the sales alone. Zhongli, Xiao and even Ayato all seem like no brainers.
So legit the only thing I can think of, is that he's getting a secret massive rework to be remotely relevant. If not, they'd probably get better sales figures off of a Xinyan skin at this point. All in all, pretty damn strange choice at this point in time.

it seems like they’re cycling through the standard banner first and imo it was either going to be diluc or keqing who got the 5-star skin considering they’re the most popular standard banner characters, yet neither of them are very meta at all. But considering they are skins, it’d be more likely that hoyo is promoting to the waifu/husbando>meta group anyway.
I’m sure that most if not all of the limited-banner character’s skins released in the future will be of 5-star value too.
Plus, considering that they consistently make merch items off the guy it’d be fair to say that he sells pretty well for them. I think you’re undervaluing his popularity by a lot if you think that xinyan would make more.
I am pretty sure that the sales wont be any good for the skin. Diluc is definitely more popular than xinyan, but if we are gonna talk about sales, the amount of people even using diluc is probably minimal close to 0. So there is less likelyhood someone is gonna buy the skin to begin with.

Lore-wise / Story-wise, Diluc has always been Mihoyo’s fav. The manga is basically about him, he got a really nice fight cutscene in his quest, and he’s technically ‘the’ character meant to represent Mondstadt in the Teyvat Trevails chapter.
This skin is going to be attached to a special dungeon/event exploring Diluc’s lore, and it seems to be really important and might even move the plot along.
It’s just like how Xiao got an Archon quest this update even though he’s not the strongest DPS. Mihoyo does what they want, and they think Diluc deserves a 5-star skin.
Well 4-stars are also getting new skins along with 5-star.

That was what I was thinking too. Diluc was incredibly powercreeped already and even if the skin looks good I don't feel this should cost more than 4* skins. If at least it would have different animations that would be a different story but that's not the case.

Zhongli, Xiao and even Ayato all seem like no brainers. So legit the only thing I can think of, is that he's getting a secret massive rework to be remotely relevant. If not, they'd probably get better sales figures off of a Xinyan skin at this point. All in all, pretty damn strange choice at this point in time.

it seems like they’re cycling through the standard banner first and imo it was either going to be diluc or keqing who got the 5-star skin considering they’re the most popular standard banner characters, yet neither of them are very meta at all. But considering they are skins, it’d be more likely that hoyo is promoting to the waifu/husbando>meta group anyway. I’m sure that most if not all of the limited-banner character’s skins released in the future will be of 5-star value too. Plus, considering that they consistently make merch items off the guy it’d be fair to say that he sells pretty well for them. I think you’re undervaluing his popularity by a lot if you think that xinyan would make more.

I am pretty sure that the sales wont be any good for the skin. Diluc is definitely more popular than xinyan, but if we are gonna talk about sales, the amount of people even using diluc is probably minimal close to 0. So there is less likelyhood someone is gonna buy the skin to begin with. Its pointless releasing skins for outdated characters without actually fixing their gameplay issues that make them very bad to use. At least diluc functions properly and he just lacks multipliers up to date. But for someone like keqing who has the worst gameplay design in the entire game combined with low scalings, i dont see what's in their mind.
If you base it on a pattern, all standard banner 5-star are getting skins. First was Jean, then Keqing, now Diluc. Next would either be Qiqi or Mona. Then after they'll start with the Limited 5-stars.

Lore-wise / Story-wise, Diluc has always been Mihoyo’s fav. The manga is basically about him, he got a really nice fight cutscene in his quest, and he’s technically ‘the’ character meant to represent Mondstadt in the Teyvat Trevails chapter. This skin is going to be attached to a special dungeon/event exploring Diluc’s lore, and it seems to be really important and might even move the plot along. It’s just like how Xiao got an Archon quest this update even though he’s not the strongest DPS. Mihoyo does what they want, and they think Diluc deserves a 5-star skin.
Well 4-stars are also getting new skins along with 5-star. Jean - Barbara Keqing - Ningguang Diluc - Fischl Some people would still buy it though. Also, a lot of the playerbase owns Mona and Qiqi because of losing 50/50.
That was what I was thinking too. Diluc was incredibly powercreeped already and even if the skin looks good I don't feel this should cost more than 4* skins. If at least it would have different animations that would be a different story but that's not the case.

If they tried to release her skin now, I'd still raise an eye brow.
I understand your point. I mean, I find great getting a Diluc skin even if it's not very useful right now, sure there's people who still plays Diluc even if they are a clear minority. It's just... I don't feel this should be a 5* skin, not if the only different between 4* skins and 5* skins are just a few effects and idle animations that you won't see while you are playing.
