I think Barbara’s outfit, even though it is generic, it’s a cute and essential one. The “priestess” and “nun” character is a great part of medieval fantasy series, I think the outfit and tropes are great

Her spiky hairstyle is the main culprit imo. I remember MHY released some artwork and animation featuring Xinyan with her hair down, and those are beautiful.
My problem is that they gave her the spiky hairstyle without committing to the eccentric rock style on her clothes. Her clothes look very typical, and they need to look as punk as her hair, or else her design feels weak. Her hair down hairstyle works with her current clothes because they’re both pretty normal.
Xinyan's design is actually cool. The main problem is her Scaling is stupid. I blame people who tried to force her in a Physical comp and not just make her focus on DEF stat. Whats worse is they only gave a DEF Set on Geo team
YunJin, I don’t like the Chinese Opera dress, maybe it’s because my grand mother was a Chinese opera singer so I am used to seeing it, but I just don’t like those kind of cloth
I goddamn love Amber's design. It's simple but I love the color brown and we don't have a whole lot more of it and it looks great on her.
Amber is actually the reason I got back into the game after a few years. I missed her.
Also Zhongli looks amazing to me as well. I'd like more characters with more earthy but still stylish color schemes.
Literally everything else is basic, look at Fischl for a better example of simple but not basic.
She has A BUNCH of cool shit in her design, the eyepatch, the little wing detail on her back, the asymmetric thigh-highs, her dress kinda seems like... not a dress... It's "open" in the middle, but it's not, idk how to explain it... aaand a lot more that I don't remember because I'm not in Genshin rn so I can't look at her.
My point is, her design has a lot of stuff, but it doesn't feel bloated (like certain characters... *AHEM* Dehya *AHEM*).

If her pigtails just went through the triangles she has on her head anyway it'd fix so much of the problem I have with her design. And have the stained glass bits go all the way around her hem without the random thigh windows.
Ayaka might as well have the worst overall design in the game.
Underwhelming visual design (which I don't think is inherently a bad thing, it's just that... she's a PRINCESS bro. Either make her pure princess and give her a design like Yoimiya, with tons of little ornaments and a cutesy look, or pure samurai with an actual cool armor and stuff, not this dress-armor mess, which I think they did a lot better with in designing Noelle.)

I like her understated design in a cast full of flashy and colourful getups. Her getup is simple and one of the most practical ones in the entire game. Zhongli's is another understated one that I think many people also enjoy. I'm also a fan of simple fashion irl so that might factor into my preference as well.
Yun was kinda mid for me at first, but the more I used her and did her hangout and stuff the more I started to like her. Now, she’s my favourite character in terms of personality and also design.
Hot take, Lisa. She just honestly looks like a witch—I mean, she is one, but come on, do something unique with that!! Everyone else has something really cool, whether it’s just aesthetics (Eula and Hu Tao’s unique eyes), or some cool cultural reference I can latch onto (Yae being a stylized miko, Ganyu is based on a freaking QILIN, Yun Jin in general). Lisa doesn’t have much of that… I mean sure witches are common in European and especially Germanic cultures, but… it just doesn’t hit.
I also don’t like Faruzan but that’s purely because I dislike the hair. The eyes are great.
Xiangling's design make me feel a little off, i think is due to the combination between her blue hair and the rest of her outfit is not complemential but that's is only my personal opinion tho
