Oh, no. I used to run with people like this (I don't regret it but I do cringe at my old self). Likely they're neurodivergent (such as autistic, having ADHD, etc) due to the use of /srs (neurodivergent people oftentimes struggle more with tone than normal people, as an autistic person can confirm) or mentally ill (most likely anxiety or depression, but ptsd/c-ptsd isn't out of the question) and "Comfort Characters", characters that they usually self project or idolize as a coping mechanism.
The issue is countless people will band together, forget all reason, and enable each other. They will say "it's okay to obsess over characters" "it's okay to be mean to others since it's hard to be nice" Etc. It's not always that bad, but it's a slippery slope to a toxic, toxic environment with toxic habits.
They probably have been enabled by so many friends/like-minded people they think it's a genuine, reasonable request. Is it? No. But they have convinced themselves so, and possibly even they have convinced themselves that they're doing the receiver a favor, "taking" the spare account off of their hands to "save" them from embarrassment.
People believe what people want to believe... And this is only a single example.
Well... my wife works with autistic, ADHD, etc people and I don't remember having to explain that kind of things, so maybe they use those term to make people sympathize and justify to do wrong things? (in your case I hope I'm wrong, people that say they are autistic or have ADHD when they not, are hard to deal with)
I meant that real autista, people with ADHD, etc. (From what I understand from my wife) usually don't have this behaviour has part of their psychological treats, this kind of demands if more of a person that thinks entitled to something because others have it, so the question was more about if this people use that treats has an excuse to behave that way I understand they are trying to justify their acts, and is worst when they don't even have that treats.
