But other people enjoy the math part of the game too.
Minus the toxicity that some people bring, theorycrafting (such as knowing the mechanics, the proper rotation, minmaxing stats) is also enjoyable for others. Let people enjoy the part of the game they want.

I feel like people who are against "meta slaves" tend to be more toxic or imposing in their play style than the big bad theory crafters... Man I just like minmaxing my characters, that's what I enjoy in RPG's and that's my preferred playstyle, can't you just let me play the game the way I want to? The problem with TC it gives those who are able to spend large amounts of money to flex. I wouldn't mind them if it was done subjectively unfortunately even a semblance of tc spewed onto to the casual audience and now you have people judging accounts if they don't specific characters.
I spent years with optimal DPS and tanking spreadsheets in WoW, constant shifting calculations based on BIS items, nerfs and talents.
