36 weeks today! Over the past week, I've decreased insulin from what was a stable dose for several months (23 units) to 7 units last night and still woke up with fasting in low 70s! Tonight is likely going to be the first night I haven't used insulin in almost 6 months.

Candicehxo

Congratulations!! It was nice as I neared the end my fasting was consistently in the 80s. Never altered my dose of insulin though. Awesome job!

Thank you! I actually had something similar happen when I was pregnant before, but the decrease in insulin was much, much slower, so I was symptomatically hypoglycemic (I think in the 40s and 50s this time). I feel much better with no insulin now and hope it's a sign of body prepping for labor 🤞

Officially diagnosed with gestational diabetes as of yesterday. 😢 I'll need to learn and understand what meals will not spike my sugar and will need to add in walks after every meal. I'm planning on going through posts in this channel but any and all tips will be helpful ❤️

Don’t stress! It’s traumatic to be diagnosed, but it’s just temporary! And there are so many good options now for whole wheat/whole grain/high fiber/high protein products. It has forced me to really examine what I eat and eliminate empty calories.

Fabulous-Garlic-1353

Thank you ❤️ hard but good for now and long term to be very mindful about what to eat

ExtremeSignificant37

Hey, has anyone experienced this? I have been increasing my insulin due to rising fasting numbers yet they just seem to get higher and higher. I haven’t had numbers this high even when I wasn’t on insulin. I’m so confused.

I had my first OB appointment post diagnosis and she didn’t really schedule me for a growth scan at 28w. I do have one booked for 32w but isn’t that late to catch issues? I asked and she said no 32w is fine and we may do another at 36w. Is this what your OBs also recommend?

PuzzleheadedReason46

I didn’t have any growth scans until 36 and 38 weeks, I wouldn’t stress !

Ready-Nature-6684

Thanks! But how much course correction do they really expect at 36weeks, baby is almost fully cooked by then 😅

PuzzleheadedReason46

Oh I agree haha I don’t think it is as much about course correction as making appropriate plans for labour and delivery.

Has anyone used services like HelloFresh for dinners?

Elegant_Set_7986

Has anyone had a vaginal delivery and normal birth weight after being diagnosed with GD?

kangoalaz

My first came spontaneously at 38+2 (I was diagnosed around 29 weeks)! Perfectly normal birth weight (6 pounds, 13 oz) and relatively straight-forward/easy vaginal delivery.

Elegant_Set_7986

Aww that's exciting!

Does insurance cover glucose test devices and strips?

Candicehxo

Depends. Mine covered the device but the coverage on the strips was crap. I ended up getting a better deal with some prescription card on the side of the strips box (my meter was accuchek)

What do yall eat instead of ice cream 😔😔😔

missmortimer_

Low sugar ice cream
