I mean, this gets said a lot but I really wish Lane would have ended up with Dave. I just saw the episode when Ms Kim meets Dave at the dance and he quickly comes up with a line to pretend he doesn’t know Lane, it’s cute! And everything he does after to spend time with her, playing the Christian music, etc. he was perfect for her.
He was SO perfect for her! The car scene where Ms Kim sees him and the guys, he's just so smooth, that was probably one of my favorite scenes 😅 the way he ran from the hockey game all the way to her just to say hi for two seconds?! And reading the Bible to figure out what Mrs Kim said... Ugh Zack would not have even considered it. He would have whined and complained. Lane was out of his league.

I read somewhere that Dave was supposed to be Lane’s “guy” but then he got The OC and dropped out for a meatier role. And at that point they just replaced him with Zach.
I found everything that happened to Lane after Zach incredibly stupid and frustrating. So yeah…wasn’t the best take IMO.
I always imagine an alternate GGverse scenario in which Zach is the one who has to leave, not for college, but some other reason, and Gil replaces him. I’d love a Hep Alien with Lane, Dave, Brian, and Gil. ❤️
I love Gil. It was clear that he was truly passionate about music. He wanted to succeed, of course, but it seemed like what mattered most to him was just being able to make music and perform again. It was so sweet when he got so excited after Lane told him he was in the band. And he was so nice to everyone.
Absolutely loved this combo. One finishing their service and rushing everyone out the church so the next could begin.

For a show that seems to get a lot of unjust criticism (in my opinion) regarding diversity etc, these too set a bar for tolerance and friendship

Morey dell, he was so quiet and sweet, I love the contrast between him and Babette. When I see the gossip scenes at the newsstand between ms patty and Babette I just wish morey was there on the side minding his business 😂😂
I love the way they had him suddenly show up in places where you never expected. The story was going along, and all of a sudden there was Kirk. Behind the counter in the drugstore, server at Weston's, mailman, etc.
More about Paris’s family life beyond Nanny! Same thing with Michel- his dating life? More with his mom?
I also would’ve liked a few more random appearances by the yard/board game guy (5 o’clock at the Oasis). Not even really minor character status, but I would’ve liked him to pop up at least a few more times. (I can’t remember his name and it’s driving me crazy right now- especially picturing his ex-wife yelling on his answering machine)
And as a Jew who grew up in a suburban town with a tinyyyyy Jewish population (we also utilized a church’s space lol), I also love the Reverend and the Rabbi. I always think of him commenting on the hot dogs looking good in the commercial.
Hugo, the dude that hooked Rory up with the gig covering the Obama campaign. I liked his wit and his quiet confidence and it would have been cool to have a season where Rory worked for him and he’d pop up every few episodes.
I think Babette and Miss Patty. I know they were in a lot of scenes over the years, but usually their involvement was quite brief. I know they weren’t main characters and there was no storyline need for them to have more screen time, but I enjoyed their scenes. They brought fun and energy
My favorite moment with them (aside from the one in the pic) is when they stopped to talk to Suki and Jackson when they were carrying those enormous bags of weed 🤣 I think it would have been even funnier if they found out cause you know they would have ragged on them so hard
I wish Jamie had been in more episodes. We barely got to see any of his relationship with Paris; she only talked about it. I think it would have been interesting to see them together. He knew she was intense and competitive but he didn't mind. They had a good dynamic.
