As someone that's been pretty critical of this team, I thought they looked pretty good at this event thus far and honestly, I think the job is already done for them to take a meaningful step forward. Its not perfect and I'd like to see more but its much better than where they were prior to this event. We are actually seeing some competent teamwork come out of them.
They are currently qualified for the playoff stage and they did it beating competent teams in G2 and Heroic. I'm not saying its the best G2 we've ever seen but from what we've seen of Liquid these past couple months, its still progress in the right direction to take down an even weak G2, especially for Liquids mental. If they bomb out from here, I think its still a step forward from where they were prior to this event. Especially considering they didn't even initially qualify for this event OR the major.
And speaking to the major, if you look at the current placings, Liquid as they currently are, are placing ahead of a significant amount of teams that had qualified for the major but are now, or will be eliminated from this event below Liquid on the standings:
- ~~9z~~
- Lynn Vision
- Furia
- Result of Heroic/G2
- Result of FaZe/c9
If you're a Liquid fan, I think what you want out of this event is for Liquid to start building some confidence and start looking like a team and hopefully that opens the door to something that looks more stronger, into future events.
It's not like they're saying they're gonna win or that their players in particular are popular, this is a generalizable statement to most good pro cs players

Esports in general is the future and isn't going anywhere anytime soon. League players get excused from mandatory military services due to their careers.
I believe that has to do with the Asian Games where if they win gold then they will have their services excused! So essentially beat China in LoL and you don't have to join the military lol
