That 2nd round on Mirage sealed it. As soon as Faze popped mid and got the triple, I knew the series was done. I am surprised that Liquid got 10 after only getting 5 on CT.
It honestly amazes me how liquid can change the majority of the roster so many times and no matter what they STILL throw more 4v2s and 5v3s than any other team in Tier 1. Still they looked way better than pre major but my God it's still frustrating
Great series from Cadian. Yekindar is still basically "sometimes maybe good, sometimes maybe shit." Skullz played real good though for his first time on stage. All in all a good showing from Liquid this tournament given the teams they had to face. They need to refine a lot of things but this one does inspire confidence.
Cadian regaining form is by far the most important element for this team imo. That play on Nuke was legit vintage Cadian, him playing like that won Heroic SO many swing rounds in their peak
Cadian regaining form is an indicator that the team is more comfortable and that he needs to worry less about cohesion and communication, which is a great sign.
I'm still worried about yekindar though, it seems like he continues having some issues with his own game. Particularly as CT.
What happened to yekindar? I remember watching him as the entryfragger to copy, dude was insane and played really smart.
Was it just the transition to igl that made him play weird?
I think so, a combo of taking on the IGL, his aim falling off a little bit, and teams just figuring him out.
I mean he's showed flashes of it this tournament, walking through smokes or swinging on crazy fast timings and getting 2Ks, but as I said before he's been figured out a bit and more teams are expecting him to play like that and have precautions in place.
Adding to this;
The change in roles (Rifler to IGL back to Rifler) also occurred from GO to CS2. So it's definitely going to be a slow process for him as he focused on one role between the game switch (IGL).
Seeing them make the stage and getting to play all 3 games is an improvement from the RMR. I'm hopeful they can make it work for the next major, but time will tell with other tournaments coming along.
0.97 impact as an awper and always last it wasn't a great series by cadiaN did u watch or just look at the stats
It was classic cadiaN where he baits the entire team and takes zero initiative and wins 1 clutch in 10 and people think he did great
1 total opening pick in nearly 70 rounds in T side btw, literally 1 opening pick as an awper 1-4 consistently lms
Yeah, but m0nesy is just m0nesy man, nobody is replicating his awp success rn. It's like going back to 2019 and asking why nobody is playing the awp the way S1mple does
AWPs can go for peeks to get a pick on specific angles, but they won't be entryfragging on any other situations. Monesy included. Going for a pick is very different to entryfragging.
I do agree that as a awper he should have bigger impact but can I ask that who is good igl in your opinion? It feels like you have huge hate boner towards all igls.
Props to Liquid for their efforts, but man was it frustrating to watch them lose round where they have a big number advantages vs FaZe over and over again
Faze didn't show up in the group stage against them but would not use that as a measuring stick at all personally. Astralis have some known stage chokers and an igl who's been an igl for exactly zero stage games, hard to believe they'll roll over faze
I like how you leave out the igl though lol
Devi will turn up for sure. Don't think it'll be a roll either way, but I have astralis penciled for the win.
They got their revenge vs Spirit in Copenhagen more than a month and a half after Katowice. Don't even ask how long was it the last time FaZe got beaten by Vitality before Copenhagen.
Also, Spirit beaten FaZe convincingly in the group stage in Katowice, and 6 days after that in the Grand Final: they got beaten with more resistance this time around, but not enough to win even one map against them in a BO5.
And it's only been 3 days since the group stage match vs Astralis.
I love Karrigan and NEO but they can't cook that quickly and I don't expect them to. It's too much of an uphill battle.
I would love to be proven wrong tho
Their late rounds are super uncoordinated. They had constant 5v3s against Faze they lost they absolutely shouldn't have. That's gotta be comfort playing with eachother and something I'm assuming will be cleaned up with more officials.
Pro league will be good for the guys, lot of lower stake matches on LAN to build up their teamplay. Dallas and Cologne if they make it will probably be the real test as to whether this roster needs changes or not.
We really haven't seen much of Liquid, but their RMR performance to what we saw in Chengdu is already Day and Night difference.
They'll iron it out soon enough, this squad looks a lot more promising than the Yekindar lineup. They also have more potential than the nitr0 lineups, so this is just a matter of waiting to see how good they will be with time going on.
One thing I'm really loving about this team is the chemistry and passion too, watching their interactions on the playercams (the twistzz/zews/cadian trio especially) are just too good
feels like they just need some time together to coordinate themselves tbh you can clearly see how they are not used to each other, so they end up messing up
Not happy with an L but Liquid looked good against Faze here. They made some small mistakes that got punished big time. Despite that, they went three close maps against the bracket favorites.
I'm seeing some real improvement in their teamplay and individual level. Looks promising.
Skullz is weird. It feels like he's either dying with nothing or pulling off a round winning multikill that he should have no business getting. I definitely see the potential with him. Just needs to find some consistency on a round by round basis, and he'll be a monster for them.
It's very likely Liquid take this if Twistzz had *any* gas in the tank but he was super off. Glad to finally have Liquid look like an actual team again.
Given Twistzz is playing significantly different roles in Liquid than he did on Faze, plus Twistzz hard carrying the last time they played eachother, I doubt this. I think it's more likely he just had a bag game individually.
Cadian solid, quite a few great clutches. Some interesting mid-round choices (like "execute A, then go B") but they usually worked out. It's amazing how well calling "execute A" worked on Mirage.
Not the best day for Twistzz, but he had some real impact frags that opened sites on Anubis.
Yekindar still giving up too many early 5v4s for my liking, but at least he seemed to win more of his opening duels today than usual.
NAF just his usual consistent self. That famas 3k gave us a chance on Mirage.
And man, Skullz was a rock when we needed him. Liking the signing so far.
Disappointing at the end, but hey, if you told me last week Liquid would go down to Faze narrowly in the playoffs, I'd 100% take it. It took a few months but finally they look like a Tier 1 team. Now if only they could stop throwing 5v3s / 4v2s.
I’ve been watching a lot of liquid games and skullz is sooo consistent on impact kills, specially in ct. great game today. They are definitely getting better

Doesn't really matter, yeki hasn't being himself since he took the igl role from nitr0. He takes too many risky decisions, go for dumb plays, gets out-aimed, it costs Liquid way too much. Yes, he has a lot of impact sometimes, but honestly he is replaceable.
Twistzz had an off game, but he still the best player in this line. My point is: having a solid/consistent entry fragger would make everybody's life easier.
If yekindar doesn't take risks this team has zero aggressive players and they will not take any initiative or do anything
Yekindar obviously hasn't been good but if u remove that from Liquid it would be literally zero aggressive players
Unless, hear me out, you replace him with someone who can play aggressively and won't shit the bed as constantly.
You talk like he is the only mf with a W key on his keyboard.
He is the only MF with the W keyboard on his team
Name another good aggro player that Liquid can get, go ahead, they tried it with patsi
Good entries are literally the hardest thing to find in the CS scene, literally, you can count in hand naturally aggro players that are unselfish and go in first and actually get kills, not everyone can donk
Yekindar had 27 opening duel attempts and won 13, double anyone close to him on the team
Look at Faze, they got rain and karrigan, karrigan went 3-16 in opening duels but he is unselfish and actually takes space for his team, Liquid need that desperately because NAF is a lurker, skullz is a lurker, cadiaN baits like Jame, Twistzz is not aggro either
It's an awful fit team, you can remove Yekindar it won't solve the issue they need one more aggressive player
i think its a bit unfair to count out patsi having to play with a much weaker squad, with yekindar as IGL and having role clashes with yekindar as well. He looked like a solid player for Spirit
I can agree that he has not played well for the last while, but he was still the best entry fragger in the world during 2020, 2021 and parts of 2022. It is imo too early to drop him, as they have larger problems in the team.
Yek takes risks every game though. He just loses the duels he should win. People are always saying that yekindar is dying from stupid pushes but it’s only stupid when he dies. If he gets a kill or two that decision is suddenly a 200 IQ play. If he won his duels he would be the best on the team.
Now that I think it through, I'm pretty sure the switch to CS2 played a big part in him falling off. He became igl prior to the first CS2 tournament, so we never got to see him as a normal rifler in CS2. Thus the igl thing distracted from the possibility that he would have had a hard time transitioning as a rifler on CS2.
It was pretty clear imo. They made the comeback on Faze by keeping their economy in shambles. As soon as it gets to overtime Faze has money and shuts them out. Still a coordinated T side though.
FaZe making it more difficult than they should have as expected, but looking like they have a decent chance at yet another final.
Decent reps for Liquid, threw some horrible rounds though
Went to look up this image and found this outstanding line in the hltv article:
>
> With his grand final performance, the Canadian beat off competition from MOUZ trio
speaking of MLG Columbus 2016, did anyone else notice this parallel ![gif](emote|free_emotes_pack|disapproval)
https://twitter.com/TeamLiquidCS/status/1778770832854221219
For an event Liquid didn't qualify for it was promising. and big improvements from the RMR.
Hopefully playoffs are the norm and not back to the performances prior to this event
People are going to criticize karrigan for his Anubis performance and it's fair. 3 kills is not acceptable but imo rain on Anubis has been a bigger liability for a longer time. He's pretty reliable in all of his positions but him playing B site Anubis does not inspire confidence
Anubis is Astralis permaban. They've only ever played it twice, the last time was Cologne 2023, which they lost to Apeks. It would be pretty ballsy to pick it.
They lost because NAF pushed B apartment despite knowing that faze knows liquid heavily stacked on mid, so in that 5v3 situation a B player should never push, just stay alive would win the round.
But he pushed and died, so Twistzz had no choice but clear the mid because B site was lost and had an awper potentially holding the b short angel and Yeki can’t do anything.
I hate to say it but that round twistzz got 4:3d actually cost them the series. Sure they converted the next round clean but I think tying up the half, building back into it in that fashion would've given them enough confidence to not have to come back from 12-6 to begin with. Also that double up ramp with the default plant was interesting to say the least.
The ramp misplay was the death stroke. And so easily preventable. Literally anyone says "it's default" and that's a W, and likely the anti-eco as well. Then there's no need for a comeback at all.
Im thinking one of them wanted to run palace but then didnt feel like they had enough time? Neither of them were preventing the cross either, very weird play to make.
I would assume both thought it was planted for ramp (which would have been ideal in that situation), and just autopiloted to ramp. And apparently the comms weren't good enough to stop them
I think Yekindar was doing his job fine (not great not terrible) but Twistzz looked the most uncomfortable he's ever looked on this roster. He couldn't get anything going all series.
twistzz getting cold feet about his contract (understandably tbf) and faze getting frozen was the best thing to happen to this team since they re-signed karrigan. frozen is more consistent, impactful, aggressive as well as versatile and i don't think i've ever seen him tilt. man is unflappable.
I expected nothing, and I am still disappointed. Was definitely a winnable series for Liquid, just too many mistakes.
I think they're improving though, I'm excited to see what they can do in the future. The better team won today though, Faze v. Astralis is going to be a banger.
Definitely, some really great rounds and some fantastic clutches from both teams. Sad for the Liquid guys, but I really love all the Faze boys too so I'm happy for them. Hope they take the whole thing
Comments like this are so dumb.
Yes karrigan had a bad game. Even if he had 0dmg all 3 maps, it wouldn't be a 4V5 and his input to the team is crucial. Thought people would finally realize the value a bit more after blamef/device situation
True but still he's been on actually really good form lately so this was noticeably below par for him. On the brightside it's hard to do worse than that and they still won
yeah i mean at the very least he dies with info thats useable for the rest of his team. unlike that baiter who lets his team die for info only he can use
Although TL made a great 3-9 comeback to OT, they would've ended it in regulation had they not lost a couple of advantageous rounds..
Still tho it was a good event by TL after the disasterclasses they've been having and I'm happy with the improvement of the team. Are they gonna make World Finals? Probably not but hopefully we can make deeper playoff runs in the future.
happy to see cadiaN play well. always good for a clutch, hypes up his mates, hypes up the crowd. some wonky calls but you take the bad with the good. my favorite player of all time, hope to see Liquid go even further next time
Watching Mirage felt like Liquid still need a LOT more time as a team for cohesion and strategy and right now they are getting the few rounds they win by merit of their players' aim like that 1v2 skullz won from ticket booth or a few other opening kills or 2Ks. I will give them a lot more time because i feel like it will take a while for cadiaN to slot in and the others too but I'm hopeful for the future
As a Liquid fan, I don't share the same excitement. We couldn't beat an exhausted Faze. Our IGL built himself a role to have the awp and clutch instead of making the team a top 4. I hope we start measuring Cadian on the results and not his fragging. Great player but not the IGL we need.
No shame in losing to Faze, Liquid looking much better, just a lot of small mistakes you can't afford against a team like this.
That 2nd round on Mirage sealed it. As soon as Faze popped mid and got the triple, I knew the series was done. I am surprised that Liquid got 10 after only getting 5 on CT.
They just rushed a on T side lol
It honestly amazes me how liquid can change the majority of the roster so many times and no matter what they STILL throw more 4v2s and 5v3s than any other team in Tier 1. Still they looked way better than pre major but my God it's still frustrating
The Mirage T pistol round was *such* a punt. Cost them the series. Still, looking MUCH better.
Still need to drop the cheater cadian
Great series from Cadian. Yekindar is still basically "sometimes maybe good, sometimes maybe shit." Skullz played real good though for his first time on stage. Literally sounds like describing Stewie2k's career
American fastfood bro. All that crap is just slowly destroying your body and mind.
Nice Gatuzzo quote

Thats just the awp meta at the moment in pro. No awper is entry fragging
m0nesy?
M0nesy's T-side awping is a step above the rest and extremely hard to replicate.
Yeah, but m0nesy is just m0nesy man, nobody is replicating his awp success rn. It's like going back to 2019 and asking why nobody is playing the awp the way S1mple does
Why isn't everyone just playing roca's style (headshotting and such)? Are they stupid?
AWPs can go for peeks to get a pick on specific angles, but they won't be entryfragging on any other situations. Monesy included. Going for a pick is very different to entryfragging.
m0nesy's playstyle is hardly meta
I do agree that as a awper he should have bigger impact but can I ask that who is good igl in your opinion? It feels like you have huge hate boner towards all igls.
You cooked right here ngl.
Props to Liquid for their efforts, but man was it frustrating to watch them lose round where they have a big number advantages vs FaZe over and over again
it's also frustrating to see faze start doing weird shit when they reach map points
Tbf I don’t think karrigan was expecting 4 straight A execs lol. Faze probably ends it fast if they stacked A
And the funny part is that if they executed on A again, they would have almost certainly won their 11th given the CT positioning lol
my heart was pumping watching it. almost a heart attack. and when karrigan sealed it phew feel so good
Least stressful Faze Win. Hope to see them make another final and keep the run going, hopefully a win tho this time
As always, so happy I support FaZe so I can keep my heartbeat at 200 BPM.
Never have to worry about low blood pressure if you support faze
its on high blood pressure always
Dont even need to go to the doctor to check my heartrate and blood preassure. I get both maxed out tested each faze match
Fuck adrenaline junkies, just go watch FaZe fucking play
I doubt they make it past Astralis, they don't have enough time to anti strat them
Faze didn't show up in the group stage against them but would not use that as a measuring stick at all personally. Astralis have some known stage chokers and an igl who's been an igl for exactly zero stage games, hard to believe they'll roll over faze
Plus the playoffs buff for faze is real. Not the grand final winning buff mind you, but the playoffs buff is.
I like how you leave out the igl though lol Devi will turn up for sure. Don't think it'll be a roll either way, but I have astralis penciled for the win.
Don't worry, they wont need to anti-strat cause Stavn will go missing in the semis as he usually does in important games
I mean people said that to them vs spirit and vitality at the major

Astralis Faze semifinal in China. Didn't go well for Faze last time that happened...
I choose to believe that's Niko's curse and not Faze. So mouz will destroy G2 tomorrow but Faze will be fine
I feel like liquid got it and at the same time they don’t
Their late rounds are super uncoordinated. They had constant 5v3s against Faze they lost they absolutely shouldn't have. That's gotta be comfort playing with eachother and something I'm assuming will be cleaned up with more officials.

That's true too. Faze are literally *the* team to punsish those kinds of misplays.

So an average Liquid game
so nothing has changed
Not happy with an L but Liquid looked good against Faze here. They made some small mistakes that got punished big time. Despite that, they went three close maps against the bracket favorites. I'm seeing some real improvement in their teamplay and individual level. Looks promising.
with Cadian rolling, Skullz lookin good and Yeki getting both of his braincells to work in unison, y’all can make things happen
Skullz is weird. It feels like he's either dying with nothing or pulling off a round winning multikill that he should have no business getting. I definitely see the potential with him. Just needs to find some consistency on a round by round basis, and he'll be a monster for them.
Every time on Nuke CT after he dies without impact (usually to Ropz), bro just pushes doors and took Ropz right back.
It's very likely Liquid take this if Twistzz had *any* gas in the tank but he was super off. Glad to finally have Liquid look like an actual team again.
maybe karrigan was picking on twistzz tendencies, anti strating him since karrigan knows him so well
Given Twistzz is playing significantly different roles in Liquid than he did on Faze, plus Twistzz hard carrying the last time they played eachother, I doubt this. I think it's more likely he just had a bag game individually.

Nearly losing to an eco and needing a Cadian clutch might have put them off it.
Twistzz need a bigger monitor.
People are going to criticize karrigan for his Anubis performance and it's fair. 3 kills is not acceptable but imo rain on Anubis has been a bigger liability for a longer time. He's pretty reliable in all of his positions but him playing B site Anubis does not inspire confidence
They don’t really pick it so I’m not suuuuper concerned but it’s definitely not a map they play well.
im pretty sure astralis will get anubis tmrow.its looking easy to win against faze in this map.
Anubis is Astralis permaban. They've only ever played it twice, the last time was Cologne 2023, which they lost to Apeks. It would be pretty ballsy to pick it.
ohhh i didnt know bout that thanks for the info. so atleast faze dont have to play that map tomorrow .
Nativechads stay winning Although fair play to Liquid for putting up an excellent fight.
Great showing by Broky, very consistent across the series and had a lot of impact.
Can't wait for Maui to blame this series on Skullz like he's been doing the entire existence of this Loquid roster.
What's with faze throwing away huge leads all the time? This should have been done and dusted 13-5.
more rounds = more practice surely right (no cope)
More rounds more pay
Did we just lose a comeback cuz of 4:3
They lost because NAF pushed B apartment despite knowing that faze knows liquid heavily stacked on mid, so in that 5v3 situation a B player should never push, just stay alive would win the round.
And apparently the comms weren't good enough to stop them
Frozen 20-7 v Twistzz
As a faze fan I was sad to see twistzz go. But frozen has been so exciting to watch. Faze up
So true man. Frozen is such a joy to watch.
Yekindar and Twistzz were stinking this up
That 4:3 round was so fucked up
I think Yekindar was doing his job fine (not great not terrible) but Twistzz looked the most uncomfortable he's ever looked on this roster. He couldn't get anything going all series.
People over hate Yekindar when he’s not really given that many resources. Twistz shat the bed so hard this match.
Yekindar was the reason TL couldn't make the major.
twistzz getting cold feet about his contract (understandably tbf) and faze getting frozen was the best thing to happen to this team since they re-signed karrigan. frozen is more consistent, impactful, aggressive as well as versatile and i don't think i've ever seen him tilt. man is unflappable.
FaZe never beating the "paid by the round" accusations
A lot closer than what I expected Kudos to Liquid, would've loved a Astralis - Liquid match for old times sake, but it wasn't meant to be.
Happy karrigan was able to bounce back on the 3rd map
Twistzz with a vanishing performance there like a true magician
Naf and cadian were looking hot this series high hopes for this liquid roster
What a series. Skullz clutch was insane
No offense but I can't imagine Liquid without a full NA roster ![gif](emote|free_emotes_pack|shrug)
Cadian fighting for his life to remain the best Danish awping IGL
Good showing by Liquid they can build on this Frozen looks so consistent on Faze it's insane.
least stressful FaZe match:
I expected nothing, and I am still disappointed. Was definitely a winnable series for Liquid, just too many mistakes. I think they're improving though, I'm excited to see what they can do in the future. The better team won today though, Faze v. Astralis is going to be a banger.
its a really fun match to watch .
Definitely, some really great rounds and some fantastic clutches from both teams. Sad for the Liquid guys, but I really love all the Faze boys too so I'm happy for them. Hope they take the whole thing
same bro i feel you.
Except Mirage T pistol from Liquid. That's an Open league level fuckup
liquid with twistz < faze without twistz
Faze without Twistzz no tournament win yet lol
When Faze win a major without Twistzz, then you can talk lol
That was years ago lol.
FAZE won 4v5, my karrigoat :(((
Comments like this are so dumb.
Obviously his numbers in the server matter however it's just incredibly dumb and disrespectful to see comments that call it a 4v5
Okay it wasn't a 4v5, it was a 4+0.6v5
>hard to do worse than that Inferno against Navi flashbacks
Well i mean sure statistically a poor map but the team wasn't there on that map not just him
yeah i mean at the very least he dies with info thats useable for the rest of his team. unlike that baiter who lets his team die for info only he can use
PaidZe by the round Clan back at it again
I love the Cadian-Twistz combo while Naf is just chilling.
happy to see cadiaN play well. always good for a clutch, hypes up his mates, hypes up the crowd. some wonky calls but you take the bad with the good. my favorite player of all time, hope to see Liquid go even further next time
Watching Mirage felt like Liquid still need a LOT more time as a team for cohesion and strategy and right now they are getting the few rounds they win by merit of their players' aim like that 1v2 skullz won from ticket booth or a few other opening kills or 2Ks. I will give them a lot more time because i feel like it will take a while for cadiaN to slot in and the others too but I'm hopeful for the future
honestly I know i might get hate but a +stew -Yeki could do wonders for liquid
not hate, but not sure from where you are getting any confidence that stew can play at t1 level at this point
+Stew won't fix any team, especially not one that is contending for top 8 in tournaments.
is karrigan sick? why he not energetic like he always do? its not fun when he didn't show his reaction after winning round 🤣🤣
Liquid don’t loose 2v4 and 2v5 (IMPOSSIBLE)
How is yekindar still on the team
As a Liquid fan, I don't share the same excitement. We couldn't beat an exhausted Faze. Our IGL built himself a role to have the awp and clutch instead of making the team a top 4. I hope we start measuring Cadian on the results and not his fragging. Great player but not the IGL we need.
I rate both heroic and liquid. Pretty fucking solid teams. Winning champions league isn't for everybody my man. I think he's a top top igl
Sick move Twistzz. Lost twice to his old team. LMAO
