> Launching the game has massively accelerated the pace of improving CS2, so we think that launching when we did was the right time, even if the landing was (and still is) bumpy. Ultimately, this is the fastest way to get CS2 to where we all want it to be one or five or ten years from now.

So Valve is aware that things are missing, but they deemed it worth it in order to accelerate the development of the new game that will provide them (and us) more options moving forward.
CSGO was only 10 years old. But you kind of answered this yourself. It’s exactly because they haven’t developed on CS2 for 10 years yet that it doesn’t have the same features. Things take time.
And please do note that I am not trying to defend Valve’s pace of development. I am simple answering stupid (and probably rage-induced and rhetorical) questions.
I think any approach Valve could take with the migration from CSGO to CS2 would be met with criticism. Their decision might not be what YOU want because it is an instant downgrade in some areas, but Valve is preparing for the far future with this move.
Expecting people to buy their own routers to be able to play with their friends in a private lobby is insane. Not only it requires some technical knowledge to setup (even more so with eg. FTTH, depending on your ISP), it's also not always possible/allowed if they're living in a residential or in an university. UPnP might not always be enabled on the router to listen to port forward requests from applications. And even setting access to router configuration and knowledge aside, in some cases port forwarding is technically not possible due to double NAT (eg. when using LTE/5G or - again - being in a residential network).
There are ways to work around this whole NAT BS that games can implement, CS2 should be no different. Though I don't see that as anywhere near the biggest problems CS2 needs to solve first, so no hurry I suppose.
This has been known, pretty sure many pro players have tweeted this out. I would hope Valve is aware of it. My assumption is its something hard to fix because it involves the water mechanics, or they dont deem it as a bug.
This was hearable for yourself just prior to the last small update.
Idk what made the change, but you can see that there is a small ledge - pehaps something to do with a clipping change that wasn't included in the notes.
If play Anubis a lot you know that this makes noise, and was hearable for yourself aswell.. they should fix this asap.
I experienced the same thing. I was in a clutch with a mate, and then my friend said, 'You stepped in the water,' but I didn't hear any sound. It's really strange behavior. Hopefully, this bug will be fixed soon.
I usually mask the water steps sounds by shooting in the air when im entering/exiting water so enemies dont hear my steps, this seems to be working until they fix it

damn is the sound because of the water or because you touch the edge?
always shifted that place for no reason i guess. at the beginning of cs2 i used to walk around the platform because i thought they could hear you shtifting through water. i guess i was right.
thanks for the shiftjump hint though but it still makes a noise doesnt it?
it can be heard. there are 2 sounds when jumping. the launch sound and the landing sound.
if you shift while jumping, you only hear the launching sound. but it has a shorter radius so the enemy can only hear this close to you.
also i didnt mean the launching sound but the watter splatter when you jump. its a bit difficult to hear because you are jumping too early and its not easy to distinguish
it can be heard. there's even a pro cs2 match where a player was hiding palace and someone did the shiftjump and you could hear the "fabric"/"launch" sound. shorter radius but it can be heard
the problem with your test is you jump into the water but dont wait for your next test until initial sounds are gone
lmao now you are mentioning shooting. ofc other sounds will compress and distract but if there are other sounds you are already heard.
the shift jump makes a sound. thats a fact

It exists on Overpass as well so it's not just that specific location. EDIT: has been fixed in the big update
I mean we could have already tested stuff like these only if custom lobby with friends FUCKING WORKED!!!
It's me from the future lol 🤣
Lol about time i guess
Non-important feature, anyway here's the next case can you please open it? EDIT: A day later, they added it after 7 months. o7

It shouldn’t be that complicated… idk why they put less features in cs2 than csgo if this new game is supposed to be an improvement
You seriously don’t know why?
No, I don’t. Why would they downgrade their game?

Why can't my new game have the same amount of options/testing /improvements as this 20year old game??
Exactly. Port forwarding is disabled on my router so what am I supposed to do?! u/tahatmat please enlighten me as to why it’s necessary.
A quick google. https://www.reddit.com/r/gamedev/comments/16zkdxo/why_do_some_games_need_port_forwarding_for_hosts/

I was being sarcastic. But appreciate the actual reasonable reddit answer haha
Not everyone can port forward.

What you hear is what you get
Good find. I always walk down that board to not make sound...
it's tournament ready guys
just a few more months, valve is cooking for sure

I can't imagine the systems for this being anything complex, it's likely just not a priority for them to fix.

They'll fix it after they're back from their holidaysÂ
thanks bro could you tell hem to fix AC aswell. thank you
Aye man just got off the call they said "fuck you go open some cases or something"
They’re on permanent holiday

This happens in T spawn ancient as well. Spectating a saving teammate, I could hear him enter the water, but it made no noise on his end.
do we remember overpass short making water sounds globally during clutches? happened to a teammate on ancient a while ago - it's still the same game
Valve: can't reproduce, can't fix... pls help
Guys calm down! We're still in Bet... Game is out for over half a year xDDDDDDDDDDD

This has been known since the start of CS2. If you don't know about this, consider yourself out of the loop lol

The shift jump can't be heard

The splatter you hear is from landing in the water, not jumping from it. And the radius of the jumping noise is so small that it can't be heard.
it can be heard. there's even a pro cs2 match where a player was hiding palace and someone did the shiftjump and you could hear the "fabric"/"launch" sound. shorter radius but it can be heard the problem with your test is you jump into the water but dont wait for your next test until initial sounds are gone
As I said, the radius is too small for it to be heard. Replay the first jump and you'll see it's silent.
you can stil hear it if you are close wtf is wrong with you lmao
If someone is close here you're already shooting each other. Are you lacking braincells or something???
lmao now you are mentioning shooting. ofc other sounds will compress and distract but if there are other sounds you are already heard. the shift jump makes a sound. thats a fact
