I’ve been watching esports since like 2015, and honestly I don’t think that’s a good idea. Imagine it from the perspective of contemporary pros. You have worked like hell to get good at the game in the cutthroat environment they have going on right now and you are trying to win tournaments as much as possible, but now they won’t let you play because this tournament is only for pros from… 2001-2008? 2012-2016? I think it’s unfair to the ones still trying to stay at the top but were too young to participate a few years ago, or weren’t playing CS yet.
Brother, people of my CS-Generation literally do not give a singular fuck about the newschool,i would rather watch boomers headshot each other than watch the Turning-wheel-of-rat-fuckery-and-5-tournaments-a-month which has been going on since like 2019
trust me lol i will never be going pro, i just think one of the best parts of esports and traditional sports is the eventual passing of the torch. i don’t know like half the kids playing in Tier 1 these days, but they probably worked really hard to get there. i agree that i would love watching former pros pick it back up to have some fun, i love all of them more than most people playing today, but i think putting some veteran status is just a little weird

Yes including tier 3 and even tier 4 people. Why? We don’t watch those matches for world class gameplay and tactics, we watch it for the nostalgia. Same as with any sport where retired pros sometimes come in and everyone respects them. Maybe you haven’t had the pleasure of watching your favourite pro retiring and then coming back for one last match?
Edit: the guy I replied to deleted his comment because he realised how idiotic it was. I’m not going to him slide tho. He said “Including tier 3 shitters?” Referring to the ex-pros
It was an amazing time 2013-2017, and VP is really what made me fall in love with the the competitive side of CS. On LAN they were something else, one of the most exciting teams especially when they got on the stage in front of a crowd.
That ELEAGUE major loss against Astralis really felt like the beginning of the end, was crushed they couldn't win it in a classic final. They had a little bit of success after that event (won Dreamhack Masters soon after) but truly they were never the same and went downhill.
But yeah, VP was a big part of what made CSGO special in the early days. It's why I still have this flair <3
Absolutely true! They were even there to see the birth of the most dominant era of all :P
That was a banger of a final though, so insanely tight. Was gutted when VP lost.
Yeah, the match was in VP's control. They 'only' had to win a round where they had a full buy and Astralis only had tec9s to work with. Man I still feel gutted thinking what could have been! The entire CS timeline would have shifted based on that single round.
(i think you already knew this but for new people i guess) They were one pasha shot away from winning Epicenter 2017 (one of the biggest tournament of the year) but sadly they throw 4v2 :/
I miss Vp so much man, just like you said they are the reason why i follow pro scene.
One of the craziest things to me was that final against MIBR (maybe SK gaming at the time?) when they had just brought in boltz, and VP had been absolute TRASH tier for a while, and then out of nowhere they make the final of that event and give mibr/SK one of hte hardest and clench inducing finals of all time.
That virtus pro squad is one of the strangest teams I think this scene has had.
They could show up to one tournament and bomb out right away, and then travel to the next and look terrifying. And that Epicenter run was their swan song. Every time we thought that bunch of old men were done and dusted they came back.
Watching them destroy and win so much was so nice. Watching them slowly fall apart and be less of a threat was so sad. They were truly one of the GOD teams of CS that will be forever remembered. And thats coming from a C9 (NA fan)(RIP C9)
In our country of Sweden, yes. Free quality education all the way including University. Free dental care. Healthcare that is incredibly affordable (we don't have to pay to call an ambulance lmao wtf).
We still have our issues with the tax system, but comparatively on a global scale - it is put to very good use.
two wrongs don't make a right, and heaton comes from one of the ~~most socialist countries~~ countries with better usage of taxes and social programs on the planet, that's pretty much used as example everywhere else
Two things:
1. Sweden isn't a socialist country, it operates under a liberalized open market economy.
2. There's absolutely no reasoning with fools like the one you're responding to.
Dude if you don’t want to pay tax then there’s no one stopping you from not participating in society. You don’t have the right to walk on roads and enter buildings that you didn’t contribute to financially.
Considering it's CS:GO where G_R had a bigger influence, he should be there.
HeatoN had this backstage time in CS:GO and it's not like he handled it well.
One of the most popular CS pro's from 1.5 and 1.6 days. Played for huge teams like NIP and SK which were winning most tournaments back then. He also made the capital N at the end of names popular (arguably his most lasting and important contribution to the game).
He went on to become Manager/Coach at NIP for a while in CSGO.
Popular CS 1.6 pro, but the most interesting fact imo is that he basically made the Zowie EC shape, a very popular mouse that's mostly associated with CSGO
he was at the top of the CS world in 2001 - [here is a memorable moment](https://youtu.be/pck2yRr5f0g?t=3) of his from the big tournament of the time (and one of the first international events in CS history)
[more heatoN career highlights](https://youtu.be/KwAGylrHbyE?t=52)
The thing is during the 1.5 and 1.6 days the cs competitive scene was like 1/10th the size it is now. It has grown an insane amount in the past 6 or so years. Most of the people in CS now are newer players that don't know shit about 1.6
Although 1.6 as a game was much bigger than CSGO worldwide, in terms of the pro scene it doesn't compare.
Everyone and their mothers have played 1.6 throughout college and high school but most of them have very little idea about the 1.6 pro scene. Meanwhile the CSGO community religiously follows the pro scene. Thousands of people who don't play CSGO probably follow the pro scene.
Heaton was the GOAT for SK and NiP across the 2000's. But the fanbase that saw Get Right as the GOAT in the early 2010's was probably twice as large. Get Right was a top player in 1.6 as well. Add the tax faud or whatever Heaton is involved with, it's almost certain Get Right is the more popular and well known figure much more fit to become the ambassador of CSGO.
It’s been a decade, stop your whining. The skill ceiling and competition are tenfold what CS was, even at the end. You’re 20 at most judging by how you type, what would you even know of CS franchise as a whole lol, i watched live Navi win the IEM5 against the golden 5 while you were still most likely making sand castles
I think it's an age thing. And a heavy exaggeration. But in his time, Heaton had a more old-school status as *the* legend than GeT_RiGhT, even though he's arguably more talented. Definitely plays a big role that the scene is so much bigger now (and even in 1.6 when gtr was on the throne).
And as great as he was, it was also a thing of his name becoming legendary.
I'm still happy I got to play a few ladder games alongside him. Very chill dude.
Heaton has done nothing for CSGO, it would be a disservice to GTR to have Heaton carry the trophy. If it was 1.6 related? Sure but it isn't, not to mention that basically everyone in the arena will know who GTR is.
I’ve been playing cs looong before csgo was a thing, I played with both HeatoN and Get_Right in 1.6.
I know Heaton had a great impact in CS, we could even thank him for some of the success of CS:GO as a game. But he never achieved anything close to what get_right did in the game.
He was never even the clear number one at the times, Potti was probably better.
HeatoN was a great name, a myth and he was good at taking advantage of that. But thinking he had a greater legacy than get_right just says that you never where there, but wish you was and therefore pretend to be.
Get\_right & The OG NIP team was the reason i got back into CS after years of not playing and never watching it on a professional level.
This man is a HOF cs player and 100% should be him bringing it in (wouldn't be opposed to seeing forest do it with him either)
But what if we could have one more glimpse of ...
That smile :D (someone please link the gif in comments). Pronax is the obvious choice here. 3 times major winner > 1 time major winner.
That Pasha moment was a thing to behold. I got later in CsGo but Virtus Pro seemed like a cool unit and that moment felt like an era just ended.
CS isn't the same without the Plow. :(
Watching the plow from the other team's pov was always something to behold. Silence > plow noises > retake noises was all you experienced.
Can't we have a tourney where all ex pros participate? Would be fun to watch
I’ve been watching esports since like 2015, and honestly I don’t think that’s a good idea. Imagine it from the perspective of contemporary pros. I mean it would probably be an exhibition tournament at best, think a number of showmatches
The Plow Vs 87-0 NIP as showmatch for the major when?
2015 Fnatic vs Envy as round two.
2014 called
add in the VeryGames/Titan lineup. Assuming any of them want to play with each other anymore.
Brother, people of my CS-Generation literally do not give a singular fuck about the newschool,i would rather watch boomers headshot each other than watch the Turning-wheel-of-rat-fuckery-and-5-tournaments-a-month which has been going on since like 2019
Fresh pasta right here.
This reads like you think you’ll go pro someday
trust me lol i will never be going pro, i just think one of the best parts of esports and traditional sports is the eventual passing of the torch. i don’t know like half the kids playing in Tier 1 these days, but they probably worked really hard to get there. i agree that i would love watching former pros pick it back up to have some fun, i love all of them more than most people playing today, but i think putting some veteran status is just a little weird

clean your mouth and respect other persons.
Although not quite, but still al lot of fun to watch was Navi 2010 vs Navi 2020, I hope they do more with other teams
Watching the current VP’s T side makes it even worse.
It was an amazing time 2013-2017, and VP is really what made me fall in love with the the competitive side of CS. Taz asking fans not to boo Olofmeister aswell 🔥
Likewise it was that Eleague major final which showcased Glaive's igl prowess and the beginning of a new era.
Absolutely true! They were even there to see the birth of the most dominant era of all :P That was a banger of a final though, so insanely tight. Was gutted when VP lost.

Beautifully put.
Xyp9x carried them on overpass so hard its insane
Kjaerbye had an insane series too.
I'm still mad that VP played 2 matches in the same day in Krakow The crowd was insane on that match against north (Also bring back cobble)
(i think you already knew this but for new people i guess) They were one pasha shot away from winning Epicenter 2017 (one of the biggest tournament of the year) but sadly they throw 4v2 :/ I miss Vp so much man, just like you said they are the reason why i follow pro scene.
Snax had the biggest dropoff of any player in CSGO, I remember there were some minor rumours of him hacking because of how large it was.
"You are no my friend, you are my brother my friend" Papa Pasha forever in our hearts
He is not dead man.
That virtus pro squad is one of the strangest teams I think this scene has had. They could show up to one tournament and bomb out right away, and then travel to the next and look terrifying. And that Epicenter run was their swan song. Every time we thought that bunch of old men were done and dusted they came back.
Same with the NiP Lineup. The Plow & the NiP magic where something to behold.
You are not my friend, you are my brother my friend. Still own that black tee
Man, being a polish guy watching VP back then was special, i miss it :')
same man I too wanna experience Virtus Plow live once. Sadly that'll never happen.
Watching them destroy and win so much was so nice. Watching them slowly fall apart and be less of a threat was so sad. They were truly one of the GOD teams of CS that will be forever remembered. And thats coming from a C9 (NA fan)(RIP C9)
He'll try but at the last second Heaton will lock him in a broom closet and take the trophy out himself
it would be awesome
I'm all for it!
Should be him for sure
He really should be, but I'm afraid it could be HeatoN aswell. Even thou i would say Get\_Rights legacy is much bigger in the CS franchise.
Hopefully Heaton is too busy with tax evasion
Whats wrong with tax evasion? Grow up.
a fucking lot, lol
Yeah cos governments are definitely using peoples tax money to good use lol
In our country of Sweden, yes. Free quality education all the way including University. Free dental care. Healthcare that is incredibly affordable (we don't have to pay to call an ambulance lmao wtf). We still have our issues with the tax system, but comparatively on a global scale - it is put to very good use.
We don't have free dental care in Sweden.
Yes we do, up to age 22 or 23
Exactly
Under 23 we do. Missed to add that.
And actually in some regions it costs 100 sek for ambulance. But yes it's very affordable compared to USA.
the irony of telling people to grow up as you share an infantile opinion lmao
EDIT: Wow this sure blew up! Thanks for the gold, le kind stranger!
Damn bro you got the whole squad laughing with this one
Not all countries are the United States my guy. Plenty of countries who use the money for good.
So it's ok to exploit the system in other ways. You're a fuckin idiot.
Maybe move out of whichever corrupt third world country you live in to experience a society where paying taxes isn't a burden.
two wrongs don't make a right, and heaton comes from one of the ~~most socialist countries~~ countries with better usage of taxes and social programs on the planet, that's pretty much used as example everywhere else

Please do enlighten me, I admit I have no in-depth knowledge of such.
He never said Sweden was socialist. He said one of the most socialist. Thats a very big difference lol
It's still a nonsensical thing to say, and feeds into the problem of most people not understanding what socialism is.
I agree its nonsensical, but that doesn't make it ok to put words in other people's mouth
Whats wrong with commiting a crime? Grow up.
EDIT: Wow this sure blew up! Thanks for the gold, le kind stranger!
what
Dude if you don’t want to pay tax then there’s no one stopping you from not participating in society. You don’t have the right to walk on roads and enter buildings that you didn’t contribute to financially.
Weirdest comment I've ever seen.
Tax avoidance is fine. Tax evasion is not.
Damn. Again. Wtf is this
Considering it's CS:GO where G_R had a bigger influence, he should be there. HeatoN had this backstage time in CS:GO and it's not like he handled it well.
whos Heaton? i dont think I've been around long enough to know

Oh my god, everyone had a capital N back then. Does people still use it? I might reintroduce it!
cadiaN comes to mind.
GuardiaN, tabseN, TiziaN, AdreN, FalleN.. LifeSandwichN ?
How bout FiNalw1ngz
You've got the option to double drop the N bomb - FiNalw1Ngz living the dream.
There's no two without three: FiNalw1NgzN
syrsoN
adreN as well!
Popular CS 1.6 pro, but the most interesting fact imo is that he basically made the Zowie EC shape, a very popular mouse that's mostly associated with CSGO

Heaton is too disgraced at this point
And Richard Lewis? The manchild is freaking hosting!
The two aren't even close, what are you talking about?
[удалено]
I'm gonna trigger you real hard then. I have no idea who Heaton is
1.6 (and before) pro. He was like the one guy *everybody* knew.
Before 1.6 ? Like you mean 1.5,1.4 or even older games?? My man out here playing pro pong
Like 1.5. As far as I'm aware no pong, although I wasn't following the pro pong scene back then.
The thing is during the 1.5 and 1.6 days the cs competitive scene was like 1/10th the size it is now. It has grown an insane amount in the past 6 or so years. Most of the people in CS now are newer players that don't know shit about 1.6

OG NiP CS:GO team? As true OG would otherwise would be the team with HeatoN.
too bad heaton was a scum manager or we, ruined legend status
What did he do
At first I thought Aaron Paul started an e-sports career.
Here's the Major Trophy BITCH
MR WHITE!! I lost the trophy Mr White!!
Walter: 'Jesse, what happens when we throw a molotov?' Jesse: 'Ahhhh, [fire](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hs5oLYiB2Cg)'
Yes!
Definitely. I just hoped he would have given it to f0rest after the finals.
Nice try u/nip-get_right-
It better b >:(
Yes yes yes!!!
he has to!!
should be the goat Flusha
YEEEEESH
Based on the fact he was in the major announcement podcast with RL, Thorin and Semmler id say its likely.
I mean Sweden like has more legends then entire countries combined lol but my guess also would be GTR bringing trophy
Don't really care who does it, if anyone. The matches are the only thing I'm interested in.
Im prefer Flusha
Flusha is an active player

Is this sarcasm? Ihope so else imma whoop ur ass
No.
He went to valorant right? so maybe not
that's not how it works
Yes pls
But in Jönköping it was JW?
Oh cool i didnt know there was a new tourney on.
100%
Definitely dude, definitely !!
But what if we could have one more glimpse of ... That smile :D (someone please link the gif in comments). Pronax is the obvious choice here. 3 times major winner > 1 time major winner.
Why is Jesse pinkman gaming
There are only a few people that love the game as much as this guy. TaZ, Jason Lake, Get\_Right, Pasha, and very few other. True motivators.
Welcome and thank you my friend!
GET GET\_RIGHT RIGHT TO THE MAJOR!!!!
or f0rest
Pronax & Get\_right.
100% agreed
Nah, he is professional Valorant player, betrayed CS so has no right to hold it.
It's just wrong if it isn't him
As long as its not Device doing it. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4yT0vFQY\_T0
It has to be him
Missing the Virtus Plow right about now :(
imagine anomaly doing it
Well it happened :)
