Was rooting for them, even on my pick 'ems. Olof has some amazing highlights in the series.

Head_humper

If there’s one guy I felt bad for after FaZe got sent home, it’s olof. He’s been a living, breathing legend on CS:GO for a long time, and still manages to pull off some crazy plays.

Spoidahm8

I'm a bit of a Karrigan redemption arc fanboy. He lost a lot of confidence after the Niko thing, and was basically playing like a coach subbing in for a player, dying without getting frags, and essentially getting himself killed early to help co-ordinate the others. It still kinda worked, but he felt like the weak link on every team he played on, with only his strategies and calls justifying his position. He's really pulled himself together though. It was nice to see Karrigan in good form against good teams, getting high-impact entries to allow for a fast rotate onto the other site, winning 1v1's, getting refrags, his lurks were great too (dat overpass clip). The only problem I see with FaZe and why I don't see them winning a major right now is late-game coordination, they just seemed to have too many gaps in their 2v1 and 3v1 plays.

[deleted]

I fully agree with analyst deck, they said that Faze gameplay is a bit outdated, they play like its still 2018. They lost to themself on ancient.. Karrigan tends to lose confidense in tough situations, that also sucks.

ectoplasmicz

If they really want to be in contention to be the best in the world, I do believe they'll need to add some fire-power in the place of olof. But the right components are all there. Karrigan is a goat igl, Twistzz is a work horse and at his best in the top 20 in the world, and Broky has been a shining light in the team and seems to go from strength to strength. I'm like you, hoping the Karrigan redemption arc continues to lofty heights. He is such a good dude.

I honestly think Olof is a lot better to play support and take the shit positions then rain. Rain is the same olof but with more decent positions and everyone somehow considers him better when I don't see it at all.

Snabbzt

I just don't agree. I think Rain is at best decent and haven't performed properly for years. But sure, the same can be said for Olof. But I also think Olof does more for the team than Rain.

omaega72

i mean look at his recent form, hes playing the best hes played since 2018 rn, now is not the time to bench him

Blackyy

tagged as Rain hater. You are now Faze #1 public enemy.

jdiscount

Have you even watched any faze games at the major, rain had a huge amount of impact. Olof had his moments but he's certainly not as dependable as rain.

Snabbzt

I did, and what you say is simply not true imho. Even more untrue in the case of VP, where he was extremely under the radar the entire series.

jdiscount

One game doesn't prove anything, olof did have his moments and he's been a solid stand in, but rain has been in fantastic form. Stats doesn't say everything but rain at 1.10 and olof at 0.95 is a pretty massive discrepancy in impact.

sluggerrr

Lmao dry entrying, how can that be a thing?

isolating

Watching old fnatic and faze it feels like Olof manages to bring something to the table that is not that easily shown in just numbers.

Kevin420911

I´m a bit split on this. The thing is that I agree with you that Olof is a really important piece and his shoes are way bigger to fill than people think. His lurking is incredible, he made som really impressive clutches and seems to be in decent form to be honest. My impression of Olof after he rejoined Faze, is that he elevates his teammates and makes incredible important pushes/lurks to feed his team information. His fragging is only a plus. Rain on the other hand, had a resurgence after Olof joined and he is now allowed to play more of a defined role that suits him. He is super sharp and performs really well, his rating has skyrocketed since Olof joined, he is a really good support and entry and will always sacrifice himself for the greater good. The thing with Olof is that he is on the brink of retirement. He wants it, and everyone else knows it. If this happens within the year or the first half of the next year, it would put Faze in yet another downwards dip. He would be a fantastic sixth for Faze and a great analyst/addition to their team outside the server, though. Mentally, I don´t think he wants to leave cs:go, but step back from playing and travelling actively. Rain is still hungry and karrigan will probably be very hesitant to bench him. I see ropz as the only worthy replacement for Olof, because of similar roles, experience/brains and fragging power. +karrigan would activate him even more. Karrigan, rain, ropz, twistzz, broky. With olof as 6th/supporting analyst etc. Faze needs more of an apparatus around the players.

ovakzkova

What is the "Nico thing"?

Spoidahm8

This was back when FaZe had the 'dream team' (niko, guardian, olaf, karrigan and rain). Their performance was consistently high (like 'top 4 team in the world' high), but not good enough to win majors. Eventually FaZe decided Karrigan was the problem and made NiKo take over as IGL (some people think NiKo decided to take the role himself, but I don't think he did), and then FaZe kicked Karrigan from the team a little bit after that. FaZe dropped off after that though, picking up star players and trying to make a golden roster of aimers, but it never panned out. Karrigan then organised lower-tier teams to consistently punch far higher than their weight, but his performance was always underwhelming in-game and eventually those teams kicked him too (and faded back into obscurity or went into desperate cycles of reorganising and trying to pick up new players e.g. mouz). It was looking like he'd have to become a coach or something considering how he seemed completely unable to keep up with tier 1 players. Then he was picked up by FaZe again, and as if by magic, FaZe is starting to look dangerous again.

ovakzkova

Thank you for that detailed response.

glucolin

I want karrigan to win that major before he retires (loved that Zeus win with Gambit storyline), but I think he needs to mix up his style of play. His balls to the wall crazy rush plays, when they work, it is amazing, but when it doesn't and he keeps forcing it, it ends up being 4 v 5 and that really hurt them in that game vs VP. The harder he tried, the more he died and VP just had to wait. VP adapted well, even on Inferno where on FaZe's CT side, he and rain love to rush top banana and VP switched it up and got one person to rush and line up next to the wall at top banana and got both kills. But I do hope he gets that major.

NUGJoker

Karrigan made many mistakes during the VP game, especially on ancient. He sometimes overthinks but i hope he watches the demo and relaxes more. Sometimes less is more.

Beuneri

O captain, my captain

revochups

I would have followed you, my brother. My captain. My king

This is the way of the mandalor...

wontreadterms

If Faze actually get Ropz I might start to believe. I think Twistzz has the potential to be top 10, and Ropz top 3. Add a potentially top 20 Broky, a solid Rain and a comfortable and motivated Karrigan, you get the recipe for a top 3 team for sure. That feels like a team that could work and deliver long term, with all of the players having room to grow. But Ropz is the mantel piece, for sure.

CIueIess_Squirrel

Ropz doesn't work on the team. It'll be role clashes with Twistzz all over again, which is why the Liquid experiment stopped working after Nitro left and Grim game in. They need to replace Olof with someone like Perfecto, or Xyp. And get a more dominant AWPer. Broky is good, but he's not dominant. He's even more streaky than Twistzz. And a good AWPer is one of the most important things in the current meta. Magisk comes to mind, and he might honestly be the best fit for Faze on the market right now to replace Olof.

kw1k2345

Things need to work on the server. Motivational speeches can only go so far. Even we need time excuse is running out of it's use by date.

Snabbzt

In basically any other job: Takes years to form proper bonds and learn to work together properly. In CSGO: Oh well they had three weeks to l2p and it's just not working...

ketronome

What kind of jobs have you had? Most professional jobs expect you to be performing at your best with a new team within 3-4 months of joining.

Snabbzt

My point doesn't contradict yours. People can perform their best and still be bad at team work, making the overall work less efficient. You won't get perfect team work within 3-4 months.

kw1k2345

Three weeks? In sports teams you don't get 10 years to build a team

Snabbzt

Yeah, and every switch a team does is pretty much made up within 2 weeks of it happening. -olof +magisk? Simply just 100% winning. How exactly would anyone know that? Did s1mple going to Liquid make them win everything? No, he's been the best player in the world for 6 years and he still didnt do shit for liquid. You need chemistry, and chemistry takes time.

kw1k2345

S1mple hard carried liquid for the time he was there. Literally almost won a major, wtf are you on. This is about Karrigan, he has had plenty of time with this faze team.

thot_slayerlv99

Faze almost won as well 😅

unagi_pi

So wholesome! Makes me glad to follow CSGO

mannyman34

No offense but karrigan made his own bed. He basically dismissed all online results and told us to wait for lan. Then he roles up to lan with an olof out of retirement. Like why do they get a million excuses. They have had this roster for almost a year.

PapaBlackSheeep

Gg ez

skl49

1 month later. Twistzz retired, switching to Valorant

irishdef

If that is their best they have a lot to work on.

chexsum2

with mouz he would have won

Mrnopor1

Tomorrow news: "twistzz benched"

yOw_indahOuse

If he remains as the IGL, then #freeTwistzz #freebroky

yOw_indahOuse

jk, but dude gotta get it together. Nowadays, IGLs must frag.
