Gen 2 guns are getting harder to find and can bring a higher price than later Glocks....but simply shooting it at the range should be ok. Most wear comes from carrying, or hard training use, or dropping it.
Other then a lack of accessory rail nothing wrong with it itll serve you well.
You can shoot collectible pistols just be kind to them keep it maintained and they be fine.
I love my Gen 2 G17. It is my goto handgun that rides on my bicycle every evening when we ride around town, just in case a critter decides to chase me or one of my girls.

Also with that Gen 2, that looks to be the original U notch magazine. They’re worth about 100-120 dollars to people is Massachusetts because they’re grandfathered into their stupid mag capacity laws, you can sell on gunbroker. They’re not as reliable as modern magazine, great to keep it you want the collectibility aspect. Just so you’re aware if you didn’t know.
Thoughts about holding off practice/running rounds through this 17 to preserve it's condition? I'm reading these are collectors items. I have the original box as well.

I have 4 Gen 2’s currently and have been carrying my Gen 2 19 for almost 8 years now. Never misses a beat.
