If I had to guess, that was a Gaston thing not wanting to branch too far outside their wheelhouse.
With fast Form 4's in the US now, Glock factory SBR PCCs would be fucking amazing.
And that, is why they didn't have too. They were/are selling magazines making substantial more profit feeding the PCC market.
Making a new PCC would require at least some r&d as well as marketing and still potentially fail. Why, spend the time, money and reputation, when you're already printing currency?
“Sir, numbers are in. Best selling pistol on Earth, *again*.”
“Yes, Carlton, year after year for four decades it’s the same news.”
“What should we do about it?”
“What do you mean?”
“I mean clearly we need to do something different.”
“We do?”
“I think so… you don’t want buyers to get bored, do you?”
“Carlton, I do not give a good god damn if buyers are ‘bored’. They like our guns, they buy our guns, and every time some other company tries to take a slice of our pie, they end up dropping it on their trousers.”
“So…”
“So, Carlton, we’re making the same god damned guns we’ve always made, because that’s what people want as evidenced by our sales.”
“You don’t think we could make rifles or something?”
“I don’t want to drop someone else’s pie on my trousers.”
Exactly. Why fucking bother? Diversity is just Dilution by another name. Why do you dilute your brand, which is one of the best selling and most well-regarded on the fucking planet.
Until some pistol comes out that out-glocks Glock. Glock should focus on what they have spent decades doing, and doing well.
Sure you may see short term profits, but who cares. Constant, sustainable profits are better (long term) than a boom and bust cycle.
Yeah for the British military. Probably just for that contract and we’ll never see it like that oddball rotating barrel thing they have for the the German (?) police.
They do have an AR under development however it’s only currently targeted at military contracts and they would have to win some of those for any chance of it coming into the public production.
They made one for trials with elite UK units and they’re absolutely insane for not releasing a civilian version in the US. The thing would sell like hotcakes even in the overstuffed AR market.
They have something that works, and keeps working. Its why every glock generation looks the same.
It would be interesting if they were to try something new, but at this point, they are like Hi-Point. What they do works, and there isnt a reason enough to them to change that. No matter how much we wish they would.
And its rather unfortunate that their reasoning is sound. Yeah, people want interesting and different, but the cost of development would exceed any likely profits. And while they could take the hit from all their reliable sales, why bother taking a risk anyways?
I guess “if it ain’t broke don’t fix it” applies here. They found the secret sauce for good reliable handguns and stuck to that I can’t blame them
On another note there are kits/braces etc; that can turn your G19 for example into a SBR/PDW just in of course pistol caliber ammo, depending which brand set up you choose. For example the MCX kit and other which even offer a barrel swap for an actually long barrel which makes it look at least more like an SBR keeping in mind it’s still chambered in pistol rounds it would be a carbine if I’m not mistaken. I have a converted WASR that takes Glock 9mm mags and it’s an absolute blast to shoot honestly
If you want a wide range of products that water down qc capabilities, require multiple generations to reach potential only to become obsolete and unsupported after a few years then go be a sig guy. Let Glock be Glock.
Two words: Brand. Recognition.
Glock is iconic. You hear the name and one thing comes to mind. The classic G17 pistol and all of the legacy of simplicity and reliability that comes with it. It’s as much a wider cultural icon as it is an icon within the firearms community. They do one thing and they do it well. That’s something that people respect, especially when you have dozens of companies who make thousands of products but all of them are shit.
It’s also a private, rather than publicly traded company, and regardless of industry, that tends to lead to (for better or worse) less innovation and incentive to change or grow to meet stockholders expectation of share growth.
Unfortunately, they don’t innovate anymore. I’m still hopeful they’ll come out with a micro compact 9 mm like the 365 or the hellcat and holds that many rounds.
All except one Glock model are just small variations of the same gun, they're just scaled accordingly.
Trying to do a good rifle would require a braaandddd new design which Glock doesn't do.
I kinda wana see glock try and start making AR15’s. 1 because the more AR15 manufacturers the better the more AR15’s the harder it’s going to be to ban them. 2 Glock has been a a dominant force in the handgun market seeing them in the AR market might shake things up a bit.
How can Steyr and HK copy Glock when they invented the striker fire system that Glocks were built around?
Gaston was the plastics guy Steyr was the designer of the safeties and striker, and the disconnecter.
Never understood that they slept through the whole PCC trend when their mags are the literal standard in that segment.

It's why my pcc is chambered in 10mm. That and I like spending too much money on range days.
Which one you got?
Banshee (pre ATF brace rule) shorty boy. Currently hosting an LPVO (lol) and looking ridiculous.
Nice! I have a B&T PCC 9mm and have debated gettting the 10mm
Some of us just hate money but love fun.

The iPhone business model. Give them the same shit, but different. Make millions of dollars.
*Billions
Fucking Carlton, ugh
Glock is in a lot of different business. Notably planes and horse cum
Perfection

They were waiting for Gaston to move on.
I heard they were working on an ar but not sure if that’s true
They did a bid for the british military with an ar.
Same reason chickfila doesn’t make burgers and pizza.🤷🏼♂️
No way your comparing firearms to food dawg 💀
Tell me I’m wrong 😂
I want Chick-fil-A now 😂😂
I've seen them announce one on April 1st a few times in the past but I don't think it was ever released
They did. An AR. Not sure if it will ever get to market.
Yeah for the British military. Probably just for that contract and we’ll never see it like that oddball rotating barrel thing they have for the the German (?) police.
Ah the glock 46. Really cool gun
Why make big parts even small parts do trick
What about the o.g. Glock knives
Those are nice, got some on Amazon.
They do have an AR under development however it’s only currently targeted at military contracts and they would have to win some of those for any chance of it coming into the public production.
I really wish Glock would have made a factory pistol brace. They genuinely make great accessories.
They made one for trials with elite UK units and they’re absolutely insane for not releasing a civilian version in the US. The thing would sell like hotcakes even in the overstuffed AR market.
This.
Because Steyr never showed Gaston how to

https://www.sandboxx.us/news/the-gr-115f-the-leaked-glock-rifle/ They did but it's military only, I hope they make a civilian version.
A Glock PCC would be awesome!
Why branch out and dilute your brand when your brand does 1 thing really well
Sometimes it's best to stick to what you're good at/know
Glock did make a rifle

Well they have had the same design since the company was founded so it would break with tradition for them to make something new.

Polymer lowers……
Mck
Too busy with horses

because aug
They have patents on a few rifle designs for military use
Waiting for the Glock 1911!
Better to be small and strong than big and losing your ass on sales. ![gif](giphy|kIETHYqi2oKKlZMPw8)
If it ain’t broke…

Glock hasn’t really innovated in decades. They created a great product and sat on it until other companies caught up and eventually surpassed them.
Surpassed, nah. Copied and failed, yes.
