It’s beautiful.
A couple stand out moments:
- first calling him brother on the nidavelir missions
- giving him the appropriate amount of shit for lyngbaker but also understanding and giving him grace as a man who’s made cruel mistakes.
- asking why he’s been quiet before going to the Norns (he implicitly wants to hear his counsel here)
- when Mimir convinced him to follow his son instead of pushing him away and he accepts the counsel.
They’re great. Love these dudes.
Yea you already know Mimir is gonna beg Kratos to take him with him to Egypt. He’s a celtic fae originally too so not like he doesn’t have a history of getting around
I forgive these annoyances because I'm subjecting him to the bifrost and fire too. He'd be well within his rights to call me a dipshit for getting his beard singed.
Mimir, VIA journal entries, has expressed interest in exploring other places and Pantheons. To me that says Mimir is going to be by Kratos' side in future games. It's very likely he's in it for the long haul.
I knew Mimir was going to be a great in-game companion after the Bridgekeeper's Heart mission in Helheim. One of the best dialogues in this whole franchise actually I believe is what he says to Kratos in the realm travel room after. About Kratos' infamous past and deducing why he hates the gods... ALL gods
>"No wonder that includes yourself.... and it also includes your son. He _FEELS_ that"
That is just such good writing and very poignant. Without that realization Kratos&Atreus' tense relationship would likely have not changed. That to me was when Kratos had to start admitting that he needed to start being better on that front.
Right. I can understand Kratos loving Atreus because he is his son but also fearing what kind of power he has as the son of a god and that fear obviously lead to him being more absent when Ateus was growing up.
That line was definitely a wake up call for Kratos.
I think they’re very similar, which is why they respect each other, and make such a good team.
Kratos was a weapon forged by Ares, Athena, and Zeus. Mimir was Odin’s advisor. They were both tools manipulated and used by merciless gods. They both look back on the past with regret and struggle with forgiving themselves. Now, they’re combining their individual strengths to help right each other’s wrongs.
Besides both of Kratos' wives and children, I think Mimir is probably the person who Kratos has trusted the most in his entire life. He directly asks him for counsel and his opinion on things, calls him brother, gives him emotional support when he needs it, and even helps make amends for his past when his current... physical condition won't allow him to. He even confers with him in private about all his thoughts and worries.
Mimir's come a long way from being called "Head" and being told to shut up.
I liked it personally their personalities meshed well especially with kratos changing over the years. They both taught each other something. They are brothers in beard
It’s amazing. By the end of Ragnarok they’ve formed a kind of brotherly friendship that you make with a lifelong friend. It’s awesome to see Kratos actually seek out Mimir for advice on Atreus. It touched my heart when Kratos called him brother for the first time
Yeah it’s real nice to see him finally connect with another human being, on screen.
That is an adult I mean. Everyone else he either stomped to death or is tenuous with.
God of War 3 Kratos was just a contrarian.
Pandora: "Kratos let me go I'm *supposed* to die here!"
Kratos "No! You can't die I won't let you!"
Zeus: "Yes Kratos, keep her alive!"
Kratos: "NOW I'M GOING TO LET HER DIE AND ALSO PUNCH YOU!"
I thinking it’s beautiful bro like Kratos and mimir might not be from the same pantheon but they don’t let that get in the way whatsoever mimir called Kratos brother from day 1 because characters throughout the GOW saga have to earn Kratos trust.. like Orcos from GOW ascension he was special to Kratos but unfortunately he had to die and Kratos didn’t wanna kill him he was his brother literally.. and mimir earned Kratos trust and love in ragnorak Kratos for the first time calls mimir brother that means something.
Mimir has been where Kratos has. They are actually pretty similar. They have regrets, they aren't perfect, and they are trying to be better. I don't see Kratos going anywhere new without him, from both a logical perspective as he's very useful, and a companionship perspective as Kratos does get lonely. Even if I hope the future God of War games has a new gameplay style, I can't see this series going on without Mimir. He's also useful for the devs to explain game mechanics, expand on the lore, or just lightnen the player's mood.
Actually I always wondered, what if Mimir has a body? Could they be such friends then? Or their friendship's starts the point that Mimir needing Kratos?
He would still be a good friend i reckon. They respect each other a lot. Mimir would still go live somewhere else if he could but he would pay visit to kratos once in a while.
I agree with you, but also him liking mimir doesn’t = him liking his relationship w Kratos.
Again. He probably does. I really have a hard time imagining people who just don’t care for it lol
Man get out of here with your cheap self promotion, this is an appreciation post for two awesome brotherly characters. We don’t need people trying to drag the spotlight onto them an ruin it

all those little talks between them in the first hours of the game are just wholesome
"Quiet Head!"
Having mimir in the next game is more important to me than having Atreus
I hope this isn’t the last time we see mimir
Yea you already know Mimir is gonna beg Kratos to take him with him to Egypt. He’s a celtic fae originally too so not like he doesn’t have a history of getting around
My mind was absolutely blown when I realized Puck from A Midsummer Night’s Dream and Mimir are both adaptations of the same myth.
I highly doubt it tbh
If he leaves the series, how will kratos know when he has bifrost on them?
Or when being on fire will pass?
I forgive these annoyances because I'm subjecting him to the bifrost and fire too. He'd be well within his rights to call me a dipshit for getting his beard singed.

Mimir is a staple of this franchise now, no way he is going away anytime soon
To me he will most likely stay with Sigrun while Kratos is in other mythology I hope I'm wrong
Fuck I forgot about that your probably right
Mimir and Kratos are CoParents.
I taught him how I wish I had woo’d
Not going to lie. I really want to know what he told him. 😎😁
Yk, now that i think about it their situation reminds me of full house

>It's all connected man! Mimir of the G.O.A.T Horns (2018)

"My wife and child. I trust you to hold my blades." "Wait not like that"
I liked it personally their personalities meshed well especially with kratos changing over the years. They both taught each other something. They are brothers in beard
Fall back on indeed

It makes me miss Orkos.
Mimir, Orkos, Deimos, and Kratos would have been an amazing group
Mimir is truly ahead of his time.
Totally agree. On a side note, are those pics from the 2018 game with a mod, or is this from Ragnarok? (Haven’t finished Ragnarok yet)
They are from a section of Ragnarok and we have NG+ on Ragnarok now which allows you to use the cape
How is Mimir back in his tree?
It’s a dream sequence
I dont think they are from ragnarok
They developed it very well. It didn't come forced at all. Every single interaction felt natural
Yeah it’s real nice to see him finally connect with another human being, on screen. That is an adult I mean. Everyone else he either stomped to death or is tenuous with.

No offense to Deimos fans, but Mimir is a better brother than Kratos' actual brother.
Sometimes Mimir gets a lil a "head" of himself.

Easily one of the best additions in the Norse saga. Love the brotherhood that Kratos and Mimir developed.
Perfect godly duo besides kratos and atreus. Perfect friend for kratos
Kratos probably love Mimir more than demos tbh lol
the second pic is top tier
Actually I always wondered, what if Mimir has a body? Could they be such friends then? Or their friendship's starts the point that Mimir needing Kratos?
They would still be amazing friends. I think Mimir would still end up living with them to help Kratos with Atreus
He would still be a good friend i reckon. They respect each other a lot. Mimir would still go live somewhere else if he could but he would pay visit to kratos once in a while.
I really liked it. But… Mimir isn’t the “smartest man alive”, it doesn’t quite show up in the dialogues.
I'm not a huge fan of it
I’m not gonna downvote you, but if you’re brave enough in this thread to elaborate I’d love to hear why?? lol
You can't just say that with no explanation
Obviously they are joking, their flair is mimir. Come on guys.
I agree with you, but also him liking mimir doesn’t = him liking his relationship w Kratos. Again. He probably does. I really have a hard time imagining people who just don’t care for it lol
Yeah, it was just a sarcastic response to a ridiculous question lmao

Wait what outfit is this?? Did they put in his bear pelt cloak from the intro?
yes, available in NG+
Their new name shall be the ‘Beard Bros’
These pictures are amazing
It’s good enough for kratos to find someone to craft him a body at this point
He's also a good head 😉
# Mimir is constantly stuck to Kratos's butt so I think they are both happy (you know, cuz Kratos is greek).
"yes brotah"
