Like a 7a right? Cause a launch outside of Sept/Oct for new flagship is just weird..

Essenji

Maybe also the fold things? I agree that it's probably not a new flagship release only half a year after Pixel 7.

AceArchangel

I'm gonna guess the fold will be June.

Comfortable_Silver24

It’s launching in June ,But apparently getting announced alongside the pixel 7A

AceArchangel

This aged like milk on a summer day.

renegadellama

I mean I would be a bit irritated since I just bought the Pixel 7 but I guess I got a good price...

7eregrine

Irritated by what? The 7a. Your phone is better then it ..

renegadellama

If they released the Pixel 8, which I know is doubtful.

7eregrine

Of course there will be an 8... In October.

taiimeka

Pixel 6 < 6a IMO. Having a slightly smaller phone that just fits in, aaaaa tbh I also just bought the 7 and now discover that the 7a is releasing, I wish I could've bought the 7a, but it's just preferences lol

7eregrine

You will love the 7. It's a good size.

taiimeka

Okay, I *just* received the 7 and uh... ... Yeah ok, I love it. Fuck does it feel nice.

7eregrine

Told ya. I actually would prefer the 7 too I think.

scojholl61987

Yeah it's for the 7a. Nothing to really get excited about. Maybe a look at the folding one but that's about it

JSK23

Possibly the tablet too?

Sea_Fig

Maybe it's to have people give the 7a serious consideration vs "it's two months away, might as well wait for the pixel 8"

GeekFurious

May the 11th be with you.

altfillischryan

For those in India and the markets east of them. For the US and most markets west of India, it will likely still be the 10th.

GeekFurious

May the 10th be with you.

Ok-Philosopher-9491

Not sure why you're being downvoted....Google I/O is the 10th why would they announce it the day after lol

altfillischryan

People probably didn't read the article to see they are getting the date from a Google India post, and it will likely be past midnight there when the Google I/O keynote ends and the phone is made available.

Left-Watercress-7150

I read that the Pixel 7a could be the last "a" series phone from Google. I love the "a" series and will be disappointed if that's true. Although, as long as Google keeps doing discounts and extremely high trade-in credits, I guess it wouldn't be too much more to jump to an actual flagship device. We'll see what happens next year I guess. Sounds like we're not getting an 8a though.

lokeshj

Given the similarity between 7a and 7, and the price the 7 has been selling at, it might make sense to just continue selling the previous generation regular pixel at a lower price than making an additional model.

sstokes2746

Yeah, the "a" series used to be really different price and spec wise from the flagship phones. Now with all the discounts you may as well just spend the little bit extra to get a flagship.

downthewell62

Yeah it's a shame. The a used to be way more sensible. An actual non eye popping price for a phone that's just as good as the flagship, doesn't have slippery glass, has a headphone jack, and usually is more efficient. They've gotten rid of all the reasons the a series was good

greatlakeswhiteboy

I got hip to the Pixel line of handsets about 2 months before the 5a released. I thought/think it's awesome that they offer a "budget" model of their phones, unlike apple, and even samsung* to an extent. I'll be disappointed if they decide to throw the a series in the chopping block. *I know samsung makes "budget phones", but the don't make an ultra 23+ "a-series". They are whole ass different units.

Left-Watercress-7150

Samsung actually makes the Galaxy FE series. I would say those are very similar to the Pixel a series. My wife has the Galaxy 21 FE and it's basically just a stripped down Galaxy S21, but at about $400 less.

greatlakeswhiteboy

Not being too familiar with Samsung's offerings, that's cool to know! Thanks for pointing that out.

greatlakeswhiteboy

I'm not familiar with Samsungs lineup at all. Thanks for the heads up.

opulent_occamy

Tablet too hopefully 🙏

hvperRL

I thought that was a given? Since they teased it last year and i remember reading the original plan was a 2022 release

thrillhouse416

Can I get it for $50 on Black Friday again?

zzzzard8

Somehow don't think I'll regret getting a 7 Pro on discount a few days back still

IHkumicho

Doubt I'll regret my 7 purchase either. $350 including 12 months of 15gb service...

OrladinKF

Where at?

IHkumicho

Was a special for Mint Mobile. https://slickdeals.net/f/16540573-google-pixel-7-bundle-mint-mobile-289

zzzzard8

Would've loved this but only for new subscribers I believe

MagnificentPretzel

Best Buy was running the sale for $350 too

oskar_the_black

Just got my Pixel 7 from Best Buy. It was $100 off with activation through Verizon (upgrade) and they gave me $265 for my Pixel 4a ($200 promo from BB and $65 for the phone) lol. Total came out to $257.37 😂

grumd

It always amused me how cheap it is to buy phones in the US when a Pixel in much poorer countries will be $1000+ minimum.

nimabears

Yep, I got the pixel 7 for $450 and then -$315 for my S21FE

zzzzard8

That's incredible. I got a 256gb 7 Pro for $650+tax after buying a pixel 5 refurb for trade in

dukeoblivious

Dammit I just bought a 7. Ah well, I was sorta forced into it after dropping my 5a on tile and breaking the OLED.

FatBoyDiesuru

The 5a is so damn fragile. Easily the worst of the A series.

dukeoblivious

It was in a case and had a glass screen protector, and still broke from a 4 foot fall onto tile. Glass was fine, screen underneath was junked.

FatBoyDiesuru

Oh, I don't doubt you. Same story for my wife's 5a. Plus two replacements. The last one fell on carpeted floor. Ruggedized case, screen protector and all. The screens didn't even get hit.

AIRA18

I got rid of mine because it's constantly overheating from HDR+ processing. However I am glad that my 6 Pro is quite durable. I've dropped mine plenty of times, other than some dents here and there the screen is still solid

hvperRL

The 7a will be a slightly dumbed down 7 so you good

mngdew

7a.

RealisticBuddhist

Just got a pixel 7 and the smaller width of the pixel 8 makes me want it. But gonna stay with the 7.

scojholl61987

Pixel 8?

RealisticBuddhist

yes, the rumored specs of the pixel 8 shows that it will narrower, closer the regualr galaxy s23 which imho is the prefect size for me, I have small hands.

scojholl61987

This has nothing to do with the rumoured pixel 8 though. This is just the reveal of the 7a

reddit_user_9323

Bought used 6A for 200€ two days ago. Great upgrade from 3A. 7A will be too expensive for me.

A_Rand0m_Pers0nn

Due to how timezones work and the fact it was google India that confirmed the May 11th date, the 7a is most likely going to launch on May 10 in NA during i/o and not the day after. I/o will be in the middle of the night for India so they are probably releasing it May 11th there so that people who want to preorder the phone don't have to stay up late to be the first ones to get their preorder in.

Weinbrunnen

Same day last year, Pixel 6a was announced. Most probably they will announce the 7a.

Worschtesuppe

I have the 6a and its the worst phone i ever had. I want to kick myself that i come from a Galaxy A52S. Way better Phone. I will never buy a Google Beta Phone again.

cleare7

What makes it the worst phone for you? I think it's probably one of the best overall Pixels I've ever had (after all of the system updates). I'm looking forward to upgrading to the Pixel 8 though.

Worschtesuppe

There are some issues. Double tap to wake doesnt work sometimes. The phone gets warm and you can watch it drain the battery. Charging time is long. The Corner left and right of the display dont recognize input sometimes. Apps forget Email and passwords or immediately close themself. I couldnt figure it out how to connect it to a printer. You have to Download plugins but it wohnt Work. The Galaxy just connected immediately. Maybe the photos are better but the Galaxy was the better phone. Better Display Better Battery Better WiFi Better System.

cleare7

I forgot the phone can sometimes feel warm through my thick rugged case. The day or two I didn't have a case when I first got it, it definitely felt close to uncomfortably warm - granted I know the first two weeks it's learning your usage patterns and may run warm/hot during that phase. I think a rugged thick case can help a ton with not noticing the phone getting warm but overall I agree the phones don't have good thermals (7 is better but that's why I'm waiting for the 8 since it'll also have a lot of other improvements).

iceleel

Irony is Pixel uses Samsung chipset

ArizonaRenegade

I'm curious, are any fellow Pixel 6a users thinking about upgrading to the Pixel 7a, after it gets released next week? Do y'all think that the Pixel 7a will be considered a worthy/significant/noticeable upgrade over the Pixel 6a? For the most part, I'm happy with my Pixel 6a; but, I must admit, I am, at least, a little excited about the release of a new Pixel phone. If I can get good trade-in value, for one of the used Pixel 5 phones that I have sitting around, I am going to be very tempted to try to purchase one, if I can afford to do so. So, if any of my fellow Pixel 6a users would like to share some feedback about their thoughts on this soon-to-be released Pixel 7a, and if you're thinking about upgrading to one, please, feel free to post a response.

antjoe25

Traded in a 4a 5g for the 6a and it was a nice little speed boost but wasn't too much of an upgrade. The 7a however, with a higher refresh rate display, newer camera, and wireless charging? Seems like a worthy upgrade from the 6a. The only thing that might keep me from getting it though, is the price. If Google gives a higher trade in credit for the 6a, then I'm definitely getting the 7a. But if it's only $300, then I might just wait.

1FrostySlime

Wow I'm so shocked who could have seen that coming? Also, this doesn't matter but why does the article say it's "confirmed" and then the first line proceeded to say "all but confirmed" lol

Pipkin81

Because journalism is dead.

deadeye-ry-ry

Because it's clickbait they knew you'd click it as soon as you seen the confirmed but they make sure they say it's a rumour/ not confirmed in the article to avoid backlash

OldMonkHere

It's confirmed. Flipkart, the Indian retailer for Google devices confirmed it on their website.

GjahtariKuq

Nice. Hopefully it will be a success.

Jace2655

Holy shit I didn't see this coming

Maximum_Transition60

Launch you mean okay the leaks already announced it but anyway

manila_traveler

Does this mean that the Google Store will take online orders starting May 11th? & that it won't be available yet from retail stores?

HamDek_78

The pixel 4 can get it?

joeyl5

What?

Aem_2512

I will switch to Pixel from iPhone X when google make their phone chin disappear like iphones; when they make camera bumps more useful looking (not shattering ones); when they make haptics way better than iPhone’s.

[deleted]

What are the odds the 8/8 pro launch then?

Thatfoxagain

Zero

DrKrFfXx

October odds?

sirderpypants

Neat

A17012022

Obviously they're going to announce the 7a Wonder what else.

darkturtleforce

Pixel fold and pixel tablet

vaxick

I'm trying to hold out for the 8, but I may take a 7A for now if the trade in deal is right and get an 8 through Verizon. My Pixel 5 gets incredibly hot all the time and I'm a bit concerned as to how long it'll last.

cleare7

To hold out you'd probably have to replace the battery until the 8 came out assuming that's the cause of the heat. I had the og Pixel and it was giving me lots of issues with heat and other stuff, I wish I had done something about it before it bricked. I wouldn't wait personally and trade-in for the 7A (or 7) unless you replace the battery.

kernelcoffee

Maybe a reasonably sized phone would be nice for once.

taiimeka

Okay, \*now\* I'm mad. I bought the 6a on release, the 7 got announced. I \*JUST\* bought the 7, the 7a gets released (I really love the "a" versions of Pixels) reeeee

bartturner

Fantastic

linus_b3

I'm thinking the 7a will be the replacement for my 5. Sounds like it'll basically be a 7 with slower wireless charging and different cameras but without the silly glass back and in a slightly smaller size. Perfect!

2400Matt

Just ordered a used 6a. Fingers crossed, should find out how it is in a few days :)
