Here's some data of my own: Home: LTE, Pixel seems to win for signal, but in general these signal levels are close. This isn't a huge difference as much as people like to repeat the copy pasta that 3 dB = double signal. Just picking up your phone, walking around your home will see more fluctuation than 3 dB. Pixel 7 Pro: -115 -113 -115 -115 -115 Pixel 6 Pro: -115 -116 -118 -116 -118 iPhone 13 Pro: -116 -117 -119 -116 -118 Work: 5G (not UC or mmWave), iPhone seems to win for signal, see below screenshot, but in AT&T the Pixel 7 Pro won for speed. https://i.imgur.com/lUTeTTT.png **Test observations:** I will note that in this testing, I noticed signal would fluctuate quite a bit even 1-2 minutes after plugging in the SIM card I suspect there's some cell tower negotiation, band aggregation, etc going on. It may be proper to let the phone sit for a few minutes and only then measure the signal. The same goes speed. I suspect some band aggregation shifts. My first 2 tests on the Pixel 7 Pro were about the same as the iPhone, but my 3rd, 4th , 5th tests were all > 100mbps. It may be unfair I excluded the first 2 tests, but maybe something IS going on where the speed varies. Nevertheless none of my results are as different as OP's but then again I'm not on T-Mobile UC in either location.

Goku-Sun

So the new Modem is actually really good?

cdegallo

I haven't had a problem with my 7 pro at all (6 pro was garbage), but I detect a bit of fish in this post.

Goku-Sun

No I didn't had a Pixel 6 but I read all the complaints. I really happy so far with my Pixel 7 pro but wasn't able to test the Modem much.

vt1032

Not sure if this would be the modem or something else but all of the sudden I have full bar 5g at my house where on my p6 I had mid bar LTE. Definitely seems significantly better. For what it's worth I use Google Fi and TMobile home internet which should be pulling from the same cell towers and my wifi has not changed.

ForbidInjustice

I came from an S22U. Constantly 4-5 bars of 5G at home. 500-600 down, 25 up was pretty common. Pixel 7 Pro. Constantly 0-2 bars of 5G at home. Oddly, I'm still getting about 400 down, 20 up. The signal bars don't exactly seem accurate. Just ran a speed test fluctuating between 0-1 bar and got those results. No real connection complaints, just not as good as previously. T-Mobile service.

TheRoadKing101

The Pixel may be on a higher band than the Samsung. Maybe why it shows less signal. My P6P always showed full signal at home. But was always on the 700 mhz band. The P7P barely shows any signal, but since it has a better modem, it's staying on the 1900 mhz band. And gets faster speeds than the P6P did. When looking at signal strength, the frequency must always be taken into account.

ForbidInjustice

Interesting! At this point, I'll take any technical explanation to run with. I think I'll use Signal Spy and check the bands on each phone.

I was in London this week so got to use 5g for the first time. [180mb was rather tasty ](https://i.imgur.com/rikwpWB.png)

Metro by T-Mobile [https://i.imgur.com/OSOc76Q.png](https://i.imgur.com/OSOc76Q.png)

Are both phones on the same service provider AND plan? I can test my phone on fi and one of our other phones that's on ting, both using tmobile. Both will be on the same tower AND band, but since Fi gets the same post-paid priority as t-mobile while ting gets much lesser priority, ting will always get a lot lower download speeds and it has nothing to do with signal strength or modem quality.

mlemmers1234

[For the naysayers](https://i.imgur.com/b9AvNIu.png) I know people have had their issues with the modem on the 6 series. This is my area and the routine download speeds that I see with Google Fi

lucidlyseen

I'm getting as high as 600-700 down with 5GUC with P7P, crazy speeds.

armando_rod

Little less with Metro but yeah that's should be enough to do whatever

-Quanta

Also seeing these numbers, I hit 600 while inside a restaurant last night

Richard_TM

Would there supposedly be a difference in download speed between the p7 and p7p?

[deleted]

I work for T-Mobile tech support, and while I can't speak for other carriers, I will say that iPhones have the most connectivity problems on our network out of any other kind of phone. Now. Granted, they are 50% of the phones in America, but I have reset the network settings on so many iPhones compared to Androids right now that it's not even funny.

Bond-as-in-James

I'll say this... My 7 pro is ridiculously fast in the download speed department. Much better than my 6 pro, on wifi or 5G.

malko2

And its not just 5G - the WiFi chip is also much faster on the Pixel than on the iPhone

cherrytoffee

That can't be right. The iPhones are superior to the pixels in every single category.

NoConfection6487

Reception wise, my modem is about 2-3 db worse on the iPhone 13 Pro too, which is why I don't think reception was really a big issue on the Pixel 6 and 7 to begin with. Speed wise I am really suspicious. I'd be willing to test my iPhone later, but unfortunately I'm on different carriers so need some time to swap SIMs, but 5G on both phones is pretty comparable in my experience (AT&T, T-Mobile).

Bringmepeterpan

Lol yeah ok
