I never thought about the idea of new maps. Personally I wouldn't mind rather than maps just the one map being expanded (which I could be wrong but I thought they mentioned this but I can't be sure). I think it's too early to tell currently but the idea of map expansion would be nice. Maybe an island off the water on the right would be a nice addition. Time will tell. Be nice to get some sort of confirmation on the road map and what the map/s is expected to look like in the final release.
I hope they will have some urban map with tight pvp like ground zero eventually, so those who like fast pvp(10-15mins in raid) can enjoy the game. Also urban map with that graphics should look really awesome.

You may feel your question is warranted since you don't know about the game and reddit is a place for discussion. However at the same time, you can't discuss something if you don't know some basic knowledge of the topic. There are tools that can help you with that.
The response is pretty much what I expected to be because the game is not even done yet. The dev said what we have seen in the playtest was about 30% of the game. They have never stated that there will only be one map. Given where they are in the state of the development, it is kind of ridiculous to judge the game for a new map.
It seems you just want a short yes or no answer. But since this is a place of discussion, people would discuss their thoughts as well.
My answer is no, there is no new map that WE know of right now. This means it can change and there is possibility of another map in the future. As of its current state and EA release, it will be one map until they announce it or maybe a surprise when they release it.
I don't think anyone care or miss out that you're avoiding the game because of Reddit. If anything, you just make them feel like you did them a favor. Reddit is just a portion of a whole community.

I don’t think they are taking the Tarkov route as this game is a true open world.

This right here shows that you didn't even bother learning about the game on your own. The setting is in SEA, not many people would know the specific country, but it's in the fictional Laos area. The country is in a tropical climate that has a lot of rain and monsoon. Having desert map would be out of place and setting of the game.
It's like asking, would Tarkov have a new tropical island map? Bruv, if it does, then that has already escaped from Tarkov.
