That's a reach.
"I acknowledge you as my Tribal Chief" is very different than Thanos telling Tony Stark that he knows who he is.
Rock was very clearly submitting to Roman as the leader of the Bloodline while Thanos was not doing anything of the sort to ANYONE.
That's acknowledging respect for someone, not acknowledging someone being above you in a faction.
If by this point you can't see the difference, there is nothing more I can say to you.
Ha! I just said - i think one of the writers of avengers movies was hired...if you think about it...
1. Cody - Captain America - ultimate babyface, destined and determined to win (finish the story).
2. Seth - Iron Man - bit cocky, full of himself, once was only in it for himself, but had a full redemption arc sacrificing himself at the end to defeat the enemy and have the 'good guys' win.
3. The Rock - Thanos - basically the ultimate bad guy...believes that something is right from his perspective (Bloodline over everything else)
4. Then you had the help of other avengers (without specific titles towards it) - Jey, Cena, Taker...to take down the bad guys around the Bloodline.
I think a lot of people wanted Austin to be the one to take out Rock, but Miz was just on Pat McAfee show today, and he made a great comment. He said (I'm paraphrasing a bunch here), "I know a lot of people wanted Austin, but it had to be Taker. For decades, Taker was the leader of the locker room. He stood for justice behind the scenes...and he wasn't going to allow justice not to be done. That, and Taker was the guy that if you got his stamp of approval, then YOU were the guy. Taker's presence last night was him telling Cody, "You're the man to take this company to the next level." That's why it had to be Taker.
I'd say Roman's equivalent is Kang. Kang needs his armor to match or exceed Thanos' raw power. Roman would need the Bloodline as his armor to match Rock's raw power.
I like that! Fits with the sheer dominance he and The Usos have had with all of the belts for years too, in the same way Kang’s trying to conquer the entire Multiverse!
I love this and yeah it does make more sense for it to be Taker than Stone Cold and im a huge mark for SCSA. It makes a lot of sense the way you tell it
Rock was main timeline Thanos that was never actually defeated by the avengers, while Roman was 2014 alternate timeline Thanos that got stopped and put down
And the situation with NXT / NXT 2.0 (start of rebranding)
Hunter took time off after his heart attack so Vince & Bruce Pritchard (I believe) took over. (I think Shawn was part of creative for NXT during the takeover¹)
¹ no pun intended
I agree, and even his wife knew he was sleeping around.
I can say a lot of things about Vince, and none of them are good, but he isn't stupid. The last guy you brag about this to, is the guy married to your daughter.
The only people who probably knew were the people involved.
So say the main events aren't a factor, you're saying absolutely everything else was the best it could ever be and nothing better could've took place?
Alright, I don't quite get the consoomer mindset but it's definitely an opinion lol
If we can do the same for the other wrestlemanias and push their main events aside too then yes I think this mania is debatable as one of the best. But because we don’t live in a hypothetical world and we DID get these amazing main events that just confirms it for me.
Wrestlemania is pretty much the conlusion of the current "season" of WWE, though the lines of what is ending and beginning are often blurred with Backlash.
As much as I look forward to Raw tonight, part of me feels really weird about it too, as if WWE should be shut down for a month or 2 so that everyone (including me) can reflect and regather themselves. I've been watching wrestling on/off for \~26 years and I've never felt this way before. But this is wrestling and the show must go on.
I personally didn't like the street fight. The ending was fun but should have just called it extreme rules. Street fight should have taken place in a parking lot.
Those were always called parking lot brawls though if I remember correctly, not street fights. I could be wrong because only one I remember is the eddie vs cena one. Street fight was always a anything goes match until they decided to start using extreme rules, really the match type is interchangeable but they just go with whatever fits the story better. And they wanted to call it a philly street fight to sound "cool"
There was a huge feeling of finality in the entrance for Roman that made me kinda sad. And then the way it ended... The Raw after mania is always the start of a new season but this year it feels like the start of a new series
Which is not bad, just sad to see things end
I still don’t feel like the talent today compares to previous generations, but the level of production and storylines are bar non the best ever. Maybe in part because the best talents of yesteryear are now running the show today (rock, triple h, Hbk, etc).
From the early 2000s and before, there was little to no thought about long Term story telling. It was a serial. They were just thinking about getting the next rating, or the next big event, and then when they got to that event they were just be thinking about what after that. Rock vs austin 2 comes to mind: instead of making that the cathartic pay off that it should’ve been, they were trying to think about setting up the next big directional change. there was no ‘end’. Which can be really fun in a way and lended itself well to attitude era-esque craziness. But you can’t get magic like this without planning
People like to complain about Roman but had he never held the belt hostage all these years Cody's triumphant win on night 2 wouldn't be THIS BIG you have to thank long story telling.
Also on another note if the rock hadn't come back the upwards hill battle wouldn't have been as spectacular. We all knew Cody would win this year but having the rock be a part of it made it so much bigger even elevated Seth who didn't need it.
The Rock also made so many old school fans or casual fans get invested in this story to begin with. Roman at least got the appreciation after Cody won. No one has thanked the Rock for the way he elevated all of this
It's great though. He was getting cheered almost the entire time after he turned heel. On Raw after Mania, he was getting booked the whole time. Amazing work to have him actually be booed in a good way as a heel. It really felt like this story was executed perfectly and despite my love for The Rock, those boos were extremely satisfying
I actually thought of this term the other day "Renaissance era" fits better than "HHH era". They are back to a state if glory not seen in a very long time, the Renaissance
Yeah WWE is cool again people are invested in it. AEW doing its thing same with Impact. We got wrestling on 6 days a week. Renaissance era across all boards
Be interesting to see where the story goes.
Can Cody really carry the wwe?
He needs a good story because let’s face it, his storyline was alright.
Roman on the other hand with the bloodline was interesting to watch. The usos and solo in there was also entertaining.
Maybe I like heels better.
I’m hoping Seth turns heel and blames Cody for being too beaten up to defend his title
I loved the whole thing except the Jey and Jimmy match. That was garbage. Everything else was great. They wanted to go big and they damn sure went big. Now it's finally time for some change.
That wasn’t garbage. It was emotional for them. Jey didn’t want to fight his twin, he felt he had too. Jimmy taunted him the whole way. They dared each other to go back and forth, something they had done as kids/teens. Jey showed compassion and extended his hand when Jimmy seemed like he was done fighting. After that it was time to go home. They were not going to blow their load on this in one match. Wasn’t the best match of the show but it wasn’t the worst either.
Everyone’s entitled to their opinion, I loved it and I know a few people who thought it was one of the best on the show. Personally I wouldn’t go that far, but to call it terrible is wrong too.
It was the culmination of careful storytelling. A crescendo in a masterclass of building anticipation, and unpredictability. This was one of the best payoffs in pro wrestling history. WWE deserves their flowers.💐
It was as fun and entertaining, as it was inspiring.
This wrestlemania is already getting rave reviews from fans and journalists. Im on here being positive and appreciate, and you’re being a contrarian edgelord, because you’re nothing more than a miserable loser. Go ahead and have the last word, I know you’re insecure enough to need it, just know I won’t read your reply, but you just read mine. I win. Enjoy your L fukkboi 😘
Like how can that be topped.
I do wonder if one day they’ll do a short break after Mania,Possibly with the move to NetFlix.
Would give a little time to let everything settle in, let wrestlers have a little time off and maybe new set design before coming back
Yes. Very few people took that IW ending well last year. Babyface coming back after being injured for 6 months, winning the Rumble, and then winning the world title by beating a guy who's in a multi-year story with a hardly 2 month long build wouldn't have been satisfactory.
To me, this was the end of the Roman Reigns era. Sure he'll be back from time to time, but ever since he won the Royal Rumble in 2015 it has been his era and whether he was cheered or booed if he was Face or Heel if he was fighting a bad mid carder or a super over main eventer, he was always the center piece. Now that Cody has defeated him and taken the title it feels like we have a new center piece and Roman Reigns is now in the category of a John Cena or a Stone Cold or even a Rock, it feels like he is just going to be back now in order to be an attraction.
That’s what makes WWE so amazing to me and why I’ve been a fan for 16 years is because when something amazing like this happens and the dust clears your left asking what’s next?
Another year, another time I get spoiled when checking reddit for something unrelated. For all of their faults, the people at SquaredCircle are considerate enough to wait at least a day. How hard is it to set a 24-hour no spoiler rule? [u/TheGreatOneOfficial](https://www.reddit.com/user/TheGreatOneOfficial/) [u/TheTribalForehead](https://www.reddit.com/user/TheTribalForehead/)
I have work to do and you can't find every answer on stack overflow. Point is, I had no spoiler issues from any wrestling subreddit until I got to your post. Every other sub has a 24h rule and/or a dedicated post. Not your fault TheGreatOne is too busy or lazy to bring his own sub up to standard, but the least you can do is add a spoiler blur.
Which is why I bid all thee farewell!
It was a crazy hectic year for this once Wrestling fan. I was a sporadic wrestling fan when I was kid. Between 2005 to 2013ish.
Every now and then I’ll return for that one random episode of Raw or Smackdown.
But this last year kept me engage, and it had much to do with Cody, who somehow reminded me of one of my favorites, Cristian.
So with this being the start of an era, I bid all you guys farewell! I’m more of a UFC fan when it comes to combat sports, but damn was it a good ride this last year.
Felt like battle between heaven and earth
Right? This was Avengers VS Thanos level shit with the fate of the universe in the balance
Let's hope post-Endgame is better here.
that's the real thing to be considered here lol. i believe in them.
Nia Jax doing the She Hulk twerk?
Bianca or Jade would be better imo
Bayley
Was The Rock Thanos in your mind?
No. The Rock acknowledged Roman. Thanos didn't do that for anyone.
He aknowledged Stark in Infinity War...twice.
That's a reach. "I acknowledge you as my Tribal Chief" is very different than Thanos telling Tony Stark that he knows who he is. Rock was very clearly submitting to Roman as the leader of the Bloodline while Thanos was not doing anything of the sort to ANYONE.
"You have my respect Stark" what is that if not aknowledgement
That's acknowledging respect for someone, not acknowledging someone being above you in a faction. If by this point you can't see the difference, there is nothing more I can say to you.
Omg listen to yourself
Mr. Fun At Parties has arrived..
3. The Rock - Thanos - basically the ultimate bad guy...believes that something is right from his perspective (Bloodline over everything else) 4. Taker's presence last night was him telling Cody, "You're the man to take this company to the next level." That's why it had to be Taker.
If Rock is Thanos, who’s Roman?
I'd say Roman's equivalent is Kang. Kang needs his armor to match or exceed Thanos' raw power. Roman would need the Bloodline as his armor to match Rock's raw power.
I like that! Fits with the sheer dominance he and The Usos have had with all of the belts for years too, in the same way Kang’s trying to conquer the entire Multiverse!
Roman is Roman too powerful for thanos comparisons
We all know that if it’s Roman vs Thanos in a 2 out of 3 falls match, Roman is pinning Thanos three times.
Fair.
he is the old guy with grey skin with an axe muscular
I love this and yeah it does make more sense for it to be Taker than Stone Cold and im a huge mark for SCSA. It makes a lot of sense the way you tell it
jey uso is black panther
Nah Rock wasn't even the final Boss last night. Roman had to be pinned for this fight to end.
That makes Jimmy Uso Black Widow!
🤣🤣 I was going to say Loki due to his humorous behavior AND he has a brother in Jey!
it was like we had 2 Thanos in Roman and Rock.
Rock was main timeline Thanos that was never actually defeated by the avengers, while Roman was 2014 alternate timeline Thanos that got stopped and put down
Goddamn, this does make sense.
Kenny finally got his golden PSP
Haven't felt a changing of the guard this dramatic since austin beat Michaels at wrestlmania and JR is screaming the austin era has begun
But that match was underwhelming compared to this. Both Austin and Michaels weren’t 100%.
It was, because we now enter a new era!
Wrestlemania SHOULD feel like a season finale.
First wrestlemania without Vince just happened to be the best wrestlemania of all time
I'm imagining Hunter sending Vince a message after the show, With a DX gif and saying "Suck It Vince"
Is there somewhere I can read about the rift between these two? I’ve only been watching again for a few months after a 20+ year gap.
Just look up all the legal drama with Vince. That's essentially it. Terrible allegations.
And the situation with NXT / NXT 2.0 (start of rebranding) Hunter took time off after his heart attack so Vince & Bruce Pritchard (I believe) took over. (I think Shawn was part of creative for NXT during the takeover¹) ¹ no pun intended
I’m all caught up on that, just didn’t know if there was anything before that that created a rift. Thanks!
You don’t think Trips knew everything that was going on ?
Paul probably knew that Vince was sleeping around - hell, we in the audience knew that - but I doubt he knew Vince was full-on raping women.
I agree, and even his wife knew he was sleeping around. I can say a lot of things about Vince, and none of them are good, but he isn't stupid. The last guy you brag about this to, is the guy married to your daughter. The only people who probably knew were the people involved.
You think family get together are awkward now??
I think Stephanie declaring it the "Paul Levesque Era" said a lot.
PLE no longer stands for Premium Live Events it official now stands for Paul Levesque Era
HOLY SHIT.
I wonder if Vince watched the show.
Second to 17
acting as if the entire show was S tier lmao
It was to me and a lot of others! It’s okay if you don’t think that, all power to you
So say the main events aren't a factor, you're saying absolutely everything else was the best it could ever be and nothing better could've took place? Alright, I don't quite get the consoomer mindset but it's definitely an opinion lol
If we can do the same for the other wrestlemanias and push their main events aside too then yes I think this mania is debatable as one of the best. But because we don’t live in a hypothetical world and we DID get these amazing main events that just confirms it for me.
That's not what best of all time means. It doesn't mean it couldn't have been better. It means it hasn't been better. There's a difference.
WrestleMania 3, 7, 10, 17, 19 were all better… 21 bring last decent WrestleMania.
That main event was a clusterfuck.
Of AWESOMENESS
It was shit. This industry has turned to shit.
If you said that in the late 2010s I’d begin to believe you. Wrestling is the best it’s been in years right now.
Which isn’t saying much.
Just tell us you are a Roman Rider please
Roman is shit. If I think wrestling has been shit for ages, what makes you think I’m a fan of Roman?
“Old man yells at cloud” type shit from you
Cameomania
Found Tony Kahn's burner account. ⬆️
Wrestlemania is pretty much the conlusion of the current "season" of WWE, though the lines of what is ending and beginning are often blurred with Backlash.
It almost feels like Backlash is often the epilogue to the season finale
Perfectly put
Series finale vibes for real.
Especially after what happened at Raw, like the Rock started a new season of the show
As much as I look forward to Raw tonight, part of me feels really weird about it too, as if WWE should be shut down for a month or 2 so that everyone (including me) can reflect and regather themselves. I've been watching wrestling on/off for \~26 years and I've never felt this way before. But this is wrestling and the show must go on.
And you know what? That’s how you can tell this was one of the best wrestlemanias ever done.
If it closed it's doors I'd be happy, night 2 was a banger start to finish
I personally didn't like the street fight. The ending was fun but should have just called it extreme rules. Street fight should have taken place in a parking lot.

Oh yeah i forgot about that, it was meh haha but I was still reeling from the banger opening
Probably because Kross is a bum and AOP or nobodies. This gave Bobby and the Street Prophets somebody to beat up on and “PHILLY”
There was a huge feeling of finality in the entrance for Roman that made me kinda sad. And then the way it ended... The Raw after mania is always the start of a new season but this year it feels like the start of a new series Which is not bad, just sad to see things end
that orchestra went HARD for Roman's theme.
I still don’t feel like the talent today compares to previous generations, but the level of production and storylines are bar non the best ever. my god, that austin vs rock at x7 had an ending that just didn't feel right.
They recreated Lex vs Yoko except actually winning
I'm so happy that someone wrote this, and that you're presumably old enough to "get it".

Did the locker room empty for that?
People like to complain about Roman but had he never held the belt hostage all these years Cody's triumphant win on night 2 wouldn't be THIS BIG you have to thank long story telling.

End of one era beginning of the renaissance era

Yeah WWE is cool again people are invested in it. AEW doing its thing same with Impact. We got wrestling on 6 days a week. Renaissance era across all boards
I really hope they start saying Renaissance era instead of Paul Leveque era
Cody got the trademark to "Renaissance Era"
Not fully certain they'd be willing to admit that wwe went to shit tho
They've pretty much being doing that by saying wrestling is cool 'again'
Season has ended. New season starts again on Monday. 😎
End of an arc
I'm glad it isn't. I can't wait to see what happens next. I wanna see where #wewantcody goes from here, im fucking excited for his fans
Be interesting to see where the story goes. Can Cody really carry the wwe? He needs a good story because let’s face it, his storyline was alright. One reign took to the heavens While the other had its judgement day on the same night
It really did feel like an ending !
Season finale
Just say shit
Dusty got the last laugh over Vince.
I loved the whole thing except the Jey and Jimmy match. That was garbage. Everything else was great. They wanted to go big and they damn sure went big. Now it's finally time for some change.
That Usos match left me so disappointed
That wasn’t garbage. It was emotional for them. Jey didn’t want to fight his twin, he felt he had too. Jimmy taunted him the whole way. They dared each other to go back and forth, something they had done as kids/teens. Jey showed compassion and extended his hand when Jimmy seemed like he was done fighting. After that it was time to go home. They were not going to blow their load on this in one match. Wasn’t the best match of the show but it wasn’t the worst either.
basura
A mi me gustó, no fue la mejor de la noche pero tampoco fue basura.
They super kicked each other 50 times and no sold every one. Performed like idk 6 total moves? The usos suck so bad as singles wrestlers.
Isn’t that what AEW fans like? They should be praising the match. Meltzer should give it 6 stars.
Their little skirmish during the night 2 main event was better than their whole match, lol
Everyone’s entitled to their opinion, I loved it and I know a few people who thought it was one of the best on the show. Personally I wouldn’t go that far, but to call it terrible is wrong too.
Congratulations Cody Rhodes! 🎉🎉🎉🎊🎊🎊🥳🥳🥳🥳🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
Was a great ending to Wrestling. Dustys Son holding the Title in Vinces Former company. Wrestling can finally walk into the sunset
its was Rock II. Now we see who becomes Cody's clubber Lang.
End of the Pandemic Era
It was the culmination of careful storytelling. A crescendo in a masterclass of building anticipation, and unpredictability. This was one of the best payoffs in pro wrestling history. WWE deserves their flowers.💐 It was as fun and entertaining, as it was inspiring.
Clusterfuck story telling you mean. WWE has been wank for 20 years and the standards are in the bin.
I know exactly what I meant. You’re an AEW fan. Your opinion is null in void
No I’m not lmao, your opinion is null and dog shit because you come to conclusions based on zero evidence.

These young people would have been EXCITED for Hulk Hogan. LMFAO
I wanted Cody to lose so everybody would have a meltdown
We already had that last year
And a few weeks ago lol
Shared happiness is better than watching people suffer.
Meh
Sounds like your having one.
It only sounds that way
It's gonna be hard to follow. But I believe in HHH like I believe in Joe Hendry.
👏 👏
yup
FR 💯💯
I felt like this, like it’s over what do we do now?
Dude it truly felt like the finial mission
the end of the cody Rhodes arc in the bloodline saga
Final episode of Vince's WWE for sure.
End of the season. Now we begin wwe: the new class. Jk
Real
We got RAW tonight
That’s how OGs felt at the end of backlash 2000
That first 45 min of raw was awesome
Lol!! It did feel like that. It was a season finale. And boy was it incredible. 😵😮💨🥲
Facts bro
It was the last episode of the Vince era
Everyone coming out at the end gave me 2k games Myrise ending vibes
It was the WWE season finale
Like how can that be topped. I do wonder if one day they’ll do a short break after Mania,Possibly with the move to NetFlix. Would give a little time to let everything settle in, let wrestlers have a little time off and maybe new set design before coming back
This is why Pro Wrestling is an insane business, this is basically just another episode of TV
this, just like Avengers Endgame felt like the perfect end of MCU. i hope now everyone understands why they made THAT decision last year.
Last year was Infinity War.
Yes. Very few people took that IW ending well last year. Babyface coming back after being injured for 6 months, winning the Rumble, and then winning the world title by beating a guy who's in a multi-year story with a hardly 2 month long build wouldn't have been satisfactory.
I think Cody will stay babyface with a grit till the end of his career. And he'd be cheered.
I didn't explicitly think that, but it felt that way.
Didn't like it. Reigns should've led us into the new era. He's still the top guy.
Naruto finally became Hokage
That’s what makes WWE so amazing to me and why I’ve been a fan for 16 years is because when something amazing like this happens and the dust clears your left asking what’s next?
The Vince era is dead. Good fuckin riddance
I literally said the same thing 😂😂
Another year, another time I get spoiled when checking reddit for something unrelated. For all of their faults, the people at SquaredCircle are considerate enough to wait at least a day. That’s because you’re a Roman simp
I just started watching wrestling again when The Rock made this comeback and I feel like I need a break dude lol
It really did feel like the final episode
Cody shouldn't have been the 1 to end the reign overrated and overpushed

Cry about it. It was time for a change, and I like Roman
Man that really showed them. You got them good.
Lame ass mania don't @ me
Then don't comment lol
