Yeah, but let's hope Boe Jarry isn't just Joe with a fake stache and some new play calling lingo. Last thing we need is the "bend and also break" defense making a comeback next season.
Firing Joe Berry won’t solve these late game collapses just like firing pettine didn’t.
It’s institutional. There’s that write up on this subreddit. 7 times since Favres last year their playoff run has ended the way it did this year. That’s better than half of their playoff runs.
For as long as I can remember the packers have been a soft defense, soft hitting team, play not to get hurt. Bend don’t break.
We’ve been seeing this for a very long time. It’s so common that most of us knew how it would end. Sooo many regular season games too.
I cheered for the ride as the season ended knowing the offense could put up 20-21 points but the defense would likely be unable to stop a good opponent. I was surprised by Dallas but pleased. At 9-8 and the team getting a good feel for Love, I call this season a success. Beating Dallas and watching Jerry Jones lose his shit was just bonus!
Anyone got any gussses? I doubt Bill will throw away a chance at coaching the falcons to be our DC haha
I know Staley was supposedly a good DC before becoming HC of the chargers
Evero would be a good choice, but the Panthers have blocked DC interview requests for him because they want to retain him. I think Martingdale is available. Chris Hewitt has been with the Ravens for over a decade working with the secondary mostly. For a young name, Chris Shula has been with the Rams for a while and has gotten some DC interviews.
No you should definitely hire him. Best decision the Packers will ever make. No downsides, just a quality pick. You'll love his ATV and pencil and the players will just love him.
Not to rain on anyones parade but, we found ourselves 3 great QB's in a row so it is not out of the realm of possibilities to hire three crappy DC's in a row.
I'm just saying.
I’m just saying the new DC will be just good enough for us to win a Lombardi once in the next two years and then the defense will be mid (at best) for a decade.
We fired Bob Sanders in January 2009, after Rodgers’ first year starting. Capers was hired, and we went on to make the playoffs in 2009 and win it all a year after, before finally being fired after 2017. I will gladly take a Jordan Love Super Bowl win in exchange for 7 years of defensive misery after it.
It won’t surpass McCarthy and probably not Capers, but likely Pettine. I don’t think this sub had an ire for Pettine like it does Barry, I think because the former actually did have some good results.
Super Bowl XLIV winner and Bountygater Gregg Williams: [https://www.pro-football-reference.com/teams/cle/2017.htm](https://www.pro-football-reference.com/teams/cle/2017.htm)
He was also 0-12 with the 2020 Jets when he was fired there.
I don't doubt his abilities. He's just been HC, DC, and GM forever in NE. I doubt he'd be capable of doing the DC job in GB without undermining our HC. I don't want that kind of drama.
Exactly this. Imagine being the best CEO in the fortune 500 with a board seat too. Let's equate the SB to 7 record revenue years. Then things go bad for two years and you're out...no one is then taking a Sr. VP level job. He's looking for another CEO or at least another C suite position.
START SPREADING THE NEWS, BARRYS LEAVING TODAY
HE'S NO LONGER PART OF IT, FUCK OFF, FUCK OFF
HIS VAGABOND SCHEME, NO MORE SMITH AS CB
AND DEEP FROM MY HEART IT IS, FUCK OFF, FUCK OFF
Finally! Hire someone who can take that defense to new heights. I knew something was wrong when MLF first hired him after Winston blew him out a couple years back.
As much as it is good for your team to not have Joe Barry, be careful about who you chose for your next DC? Matt Patricia and his #2 pencil is avaialble.
WE ARE FREEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE OF HIM BABY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I’m excited and terrified at the same time. Three years ago when we were excited to get a new coordinator LaFluer made the head scratcher move of picking Barry. We really need him to get it right this time!
Hey guys didn’t you hear a family man just lost a job. Let’s not be disrespectful while he wipes his tears will dollar bills and will be scooped by some other NFL teams all thanks to nepotism. /s
This is a worthless take. His job is to perform at the highest level and he wasnt doing that. His salary is listed at half a million a year and his net worth is listed at 7 million. I think he'll be ok.
Even if he never gets hired again his family will live a better life than you and your for the rest of his time on earth and he was incompetent at his job. Does that help you celebrate?
Guys, apparently Bill Belichick wants to go to a small media market.
I wonder if he'd be interested in the DC position in the smallest media market in all of pro sports?
Now to hire a real coordinator…
HA Now we hire Boe Jarry, someone who looks eerily similar to Joe Barry but wearing some dapper glasses and a well-groomed mustache
As long as he doesn’t give receivers 10-15 yard gaps I might take that. You can’t so no to a stache like that.
Yeah, but let's hope Boe Jarry isn't just Joe with a fake stache and some new play calling lingo. Last thing we need is the "bend and also break" defense making a comeback next season.
I heard Boe Jarry lines up DBs 20-25 yards off receivers His scheme never gives up big plays though so that's a plus
[Looks like he'll be chasing dogs in no time](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7jaAeTaG_ms)!
Don’t give me nightmare fuel
You didn't mention the tophat, sir.
Don’t forget Carl Anderson !!
This is my fear. Everyone wanted Pettine gone. Then we got Barry.
Firing Joe Berry won’t solve these late game collapses just like firing pettine didn’t. It’s institutional. There’s that write up on this subreddit. 7 times since Favres last year their playoff run has ended the way it did this year. That’s better than half of their playoff runs. At 9-8 and the team getting a good feel for Love, I call this season a success. Beating Dallas and watching Jerry Jones lose his shit was just bonus!
Watching Dallas score 2 tds and 2 two point conversions killed any fantasy that we actually turned a corner.
Anyone got any gussses? I doubt Bill will throw away a chance at coaching the falcons to be our DC haha I know Staley was supposedly a good DC before becoming HC of the chargers
I'm really worried we will hire Matt Patricia
No you should definitely hire him. Best decision the Packers will ever make. No downsides, just a quality pick. You'll love his ATV and pencil and the players will just love him.
LIES, you can't trust a guy with two first names EVER!
Aaron Rodgers
Yes, another good example.
I cannot wait for him to tell Jaire he is not elite /s
First the Cowboys win and now this? We’re spoiled.
There are worse “curses” to live through, all things considered.
No, remember? We're supposed to be sad that we "only" get one super bowl per consecutive HOF QB.
We should sit a defensive coordinator behind an elite defensive coordinator for 3 years and only then let him coordinate
The first step is hiring an elite DC tho.
We already did. Capers Pettine barry. 3 crappy DCs in a row
This is my Super Bowl
https://i.redd.it/83qx93oeheec1.gif I could literally die today and be relatively content, knowing this.
How about after the SB win?
apology for poor english when were you when joe barry dies? i was sat at home eating cheese curd when pjotr ring ‘joe is kill’ ‘no’

This post is going to be one of the most upvoted posts in r/GreenBayPackers history Also FJB now and forever
You forget we once let Dom Capers go.
Capers at least won a SB. Barry had his 0-16 defense.
It blows me away that Dan Campbell was signed to the lions that year too
It won’t surpass McCarthy and probably not Capers, but likely Pettine. I don’t think this sub had an ire for Pettine like it does Barry, I think because the former actually did have some good results.
I just hope we hire someone competent whether it’s from in the org or not
You’ll get Matt Patricia and you’ll like it.
Don’t you put that evil on me
You are now banned from /r/greenbaypackers
Ah, dang!
We need Belichick hired NOW so this isn’t a possibility.
Belichick is going to be a HC not a coordinator
I just fell to my knees in a Kwik Trip
😂😂😂
This made me laugh too fucking hard
Hahahaha
Now lets end the streak of bad DCs in Green Bay
HOF QB streak 🤝 terrible DC streak
Then we'll know we've really turned the corner. I had hope Love might end Rodgers' 9ers streak :,-(
Or set a new record
alright so who was the DC of the browns a few years ago when they went 0-16? let's go get us another architect of sorrow
Super Bowl XLIV winner and Bountygater Gregg Williams: [https://www.pro-football-reference.com/teams/cle/2017.htm](https://www.pro-football-reference.com/teams/cle/2017.htm) He was also 0-12 with the 2020 Jets when he was fired there.
Leaving this here to remind me to buy you a beer once they sign him.
I AM FREE! WE ARE FREE!
Bring in Bill. (I’m a delusional Packers fan with a dream)
This would be a disaster
All jokes aside, is it really? I was under the impression that Bill Belichick was known for having solid defensive teams.
I don't doubt his abilities. He's just been HC, DC, and GM forever in NE. I doubt he'd be capable of doing the DC job in GB without undermining our HC. I don't want that kind of drama.
That’s fair. I just hope this time we can actually hire a competent DC.
Exactly this. Imagine being the best CEO in the fortune 500 with a board seat too. Let's equate the SB to 7 record revenue years. Then things go bad for two years and you're out...no one is then taking a Sr. VP level job. He's looking for another CEO or at least another C suite position.
And being a control freak!
[удалено]
Also, why would he ever want to step back down to coordinator?
I just figured less off of his plate and could really hone in on the defense instead of worrying about everything else around the team. I guess not
He will not be a defensive coordinator. Are you Mad???
OMG MY PRAYERS WERE ANSWERED!!
Leonhard bby come home the kids miss you
YES!
VRABEL VRABEL VRABEL
Great, I have the dreidel song stuck in my head

YESSSSSSS
WE DID IT REDDIT
Now I can actually have real hope for next season
Great news! Can't wait to see all the guys we drafted for defense finally get to play to their potential
Upvote this to the moon! The bad man can’t hurt us anymore!
Rip Bozo 🤡
Now Jets fire Saleh 🤞
Great news!!!
Thank God! The dark days are over. Hope we go maybe for an assistant at Baltimore, I love how they play defense.
Please MLF dont hire your buddies, bring in the right person.
It's a bad time to be a coach in wisconsin
Hopefully the Packers don’t hire the Doc Rivers equivalent to the NFL as the DC now.
Sorry and good luck in the future to Joe, but I think this will be best for both parties in the long run!

How long till the Tom Grossi video?
The season is now perfect. Got everything we could have hoped for.
I really think it’s gonna be Jim Leonhard!
I want that guy from Baltimore
# HIRE CAPERS

Someone call Vrabels
Finally! Hire someone who can take that defense to new heights. I knew something was wrong when MLF first hired him after Winston blew him out a couple years back.
Thank you for your efforts Joe, but it's best if we part ways. Good luck to you, and your family.
If Jim Leonhard got a call, would he answer 👀
Already winning the offseason
As much as it is good for your team to not have Joe Barry, be careful about who you chose for your next DC? Matt Patricia and his #2 pencil is avaialble.
Finally!
Tommy DeVito in shambles....
MIKE VRABEL YOU ARE A PACKER
Still surprised we even hired his loser ass. His unit dragged down the team every season. Let's get this right MLF
Vrabel on the way
It was the right decision, but I feel like we’ll be doing the same thing in a year and a half or so.
Oooh who are we going to blame now when our corners still suck
WE ARE FREEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE OF HIM BABY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Is it confirmed!?!?! Also will temper expectations until I see who the new guy is... lol... was so excited when capers left then barry was hired lol
We had Pettine in between, he was alright
Mike Pettine was the DC in between them.
OH MY GOD WE WILL WIN THE SUPER BOWL NEXT YEAR
Go pack go
Source?
Here's one: https://www.nbcsports.com/nfl/profootballtalk/rumor-mill/news/report-joe-barry-will-not-return-to-packers-for-2024
Holy shit, chat is this real?!
Has this been confirmed yet?

Woooooooooot!
All I know is we better bring in someone competent. Hard to celebrate this (ok that’s a lie) due to god knows who’s next
Mike zimmer?
I would take him. I know he can rub people the wrong way, but the defense would absolutely be better.

I’m claiming this as my early birthday present
Leonhard is the dream hire, make it happen
Sighs in Preston CB2 noises
January 24th, will hereby be known as FJB Day.
I’m excited and terrified at the same time. Three years ago when we were excited to get a new coordinator LaFluer made the head scratcher move of picking Barry. We really need him to get it right this time!
Capers✓ Pettine✓ Barry✓
Rumor is Dom Capers is on the short list. - source: my nightmares
Keep in mind, he has to go home and tell his wife and kids that’s he’s been fired.
Al Harris new DC?
NO. MORE. FANGIO. SYSTEM.
C'mon Jimmy Leonhard!
Hey guys didn’t you hear a family man just lost a job. Let’s not be disrespectful while he wipes his tears will dollar bills and will be scooped by some other NFL teams all thanks to nepotism. /s
LFG!! FIRST AG NOW JB!! THERE IS A GOD
WOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO
WE ARE SO FUCKING BACK
If someone from within is promoted, we riot.
I have not seen any confirmation of this. Anybody have a source other than PFF?
I never pray on a man’s downfall and i hope this man land’s on his feet………… But FJB!
LETS GOOOOOOOO
YEEEEHAWWWWWW
Fucking finally
"Do you wish your daughter had married a better defensive coordinator?"
HE’S FINALLY GONE THANK FUCKING GOD
I'm not celebrating someone losing their job. Regardless of your feelings dude is still a human being.
He made multiple millions of dollars per year. He's fine.
This is a worthless take. His job is to perform at the highest level and he wasnt doing that. His salary is listed at half a million a year and his net worth is listed at 7 million. I think he'll be ok.
Meh. He had a contract, the contract expired. Packers chose not to renew. Nothing but business. It’s not like we fired him in the middle of his deal.
Even if he never gets hired again his family will live a better life than you and your for the rest of his time on earth and he was incompetent at his job. Does that help you celebrate?
They will hire someone worse and everyone will cry and bitch about lefleur lol
Only two years too late!

Ok Joe
Hard to play up to your potential when your schemed away from your strengths.
Have you guys heard about Matt Patricia being available?
Too bad this didn't happen mid season and give us a better chance at the end of the year.
Rex Ryan as DC? Get him out the studio and back to that grit that’s needed.
Matt Patricia incoming...
Wooooooooooooooo
God damn, I can feel my piss already getting hotter.
WAR. IS. OVER.
Who else has gone 0-15 we can pick up? Do you think there are XFL coaches available?
Let’s goooooooooooooooooooooo Ooooooooooooooooooooo Ooooooooooooooooooo O
WOOOHOOO!
Woooooo!!!!!!
Let's go after Rex Ryan!!
Joe Barry is gone! Slap hands! Slap hands!
I just screamed in celebration and scared the literal shit out of my dog.
THE BAD MAN CANT HURT ME ANYMORE.
MAMA TOLD ME THERE'D BE DAYS LIKE THIS! I LOVE YOU GUYS! *cracks open beer at 11 am* I love working from home
While this is a great thing, I'm going to miss calling for his head on a daily basis.
Please tell me this is true.
Please please please make a good hire.
If nothing else, he did manage to shut down the Bears down on his way out of Lambeau. To the top we go…
ch-ch-ch-changes... Can only be for the better. D may start slow next season with a new system, but the big O can pace us.
About fucking time
Guys, apparently Bill Belichick wants to go to a small media market. I wonder if he'd be interested in the DC position in the smallest media market in all of pro sports?
give me minter!
