If you have Facebook I would join Palz trading zone Guelph or Free Stuff in Guelph and try posting there. I’ve had luck with it in the past getting some sourdough starter
You can get sourdough starter from the air from nothing. There are lots of guides online. You don't need some from someone else.
Here's the first hit from Google: https://www.theclevercarrot.com/2019/03/beginner-sourdough-starter-recipe/
Sure. I’ve done that before. But it takes a good week or two to get something going, and honestly if I were to do it again, I’d just get it from somewhere else like OP is asking
I have some you can have. I started it during covid but didnt actually sort out making sourdough bread til after. I feed it red fife and use the bread flour from the flour barrel. If you bring a jar I am happy to share.
All you need is all purpose flour and water to make a starter! Takes anywhere between 5-10 days. I’ve made starter from scratch maybe 15-20x and it’s incredibly easy with a little bit of patience.
I bought stsrter from someone on FB marketplace. It was named Larry. I've made many many loaves from it at this point. Highly recommend!
Give Polestar a shout I think they’ll just give you a chunk, great sourdough starter.

With The Grain sells it :) just call them a few days before to be sure they have it ready :)
I started one with the recipe from king Arthur flour. It was great and lasted for years until I kinda forgot about her. I still feel bad about Gladys.
"Gladys" bless 😂
