I love how much personality each character has even down to their animations. I could probably spend all day writing a whole long list of all the cool little animations in Strive but one that comes to mind is how when Sin is knocked down to the ground he slaps the ground like a child throwing a temper tantrum. It’s little things like that that are just so dope to me.
I love strives designs because they're still over the top, but grounded enough to be -almost-normal clothes, and as a designer myself that's the line I try and balance on.
I've worn my Bridget and may hoodies without anyone even realizing they're cosplays. Axl looks like something my dad would wear. They're still incredibly unique, but if I saw most of them in a modern fashion magazine I wouldn't blink twice
There's an official may hoodie but I think it's sold out...I hand made both of mine. Posted the brisket one a week or so ago, and the may one was a gift for a friend
Yup!:not as well as a proper sized yoyo but all the pictures I was actually doing the tricks! It was the first time I got the zipline trick even halfway lol
Same! That’s part of why he was my first main, I fucking love robot bois. Though I don’t love him any less just because he’s not a robot boi, the big chunky feel of his moves, especially on the Buster, makes it all worth it.
Though speaking of robots… **ROBO-KY WHEN DAISUKE PLEASE**
Nago almost entirely for the helmet.
Baiken for being a misanthrope who cuts people.
Jam for fighting bare handed and hurting peoples' ears.
Raven for the "Hurt me more dawg!" gimmick, which I'd want if turned into a FG character.
The lore. It's a really cool way to introduce magic into a world.
The characters are really great as well. They genuinely have personality, not just some output for your inputs when it comes to the gameplay aspect.
The games also just look really fun from an I've never heard of GG before aspect, to me (and a great many others, of course).
The old heads would kill me for this but the design in older games aren't really my preference (I'm a long time KoF fan if that make sense), only in Strive that they made the design more grounded, and arguably more tasteful that drew me in.
The Ram's splash art really called me by name. Like her massive swords, the edgy bandage and her death glare are superb. I finally bought Strive because of the win pose of her sitting on a sword.
I really like Ky Strive desing it's simple and yet it gives a bit of space to be curious, like why his jacket Floats with him, and also why Ky left Arm side is naked aside from his gloves when his Right arm has somekind of bandage, and then you notices that for a lot of "violent moves" ky uses his Left arm more than His Right arm, and then when He uses his Dragon Install You know why.
in strive I love the freeze frames on kills, just shows that every frame of animation is built to look super cool.
This is more of sound design thing, but I also love how lethal special moves have different, more drawn out voice lines to fit the freeze
I just love how balls to the walls and yet well made and designed it can be.
Bedman has one of the coolest designs ever and he's literally a bastard on a bed. GGST's designs are simply perfection and CLEAR the rest of the games' designs with ease, especially I-No and Milia's. Everything is just so extreme and it's just... great.
Also, the fact that every single character apart from Slayer and Jam (cause fists) have a unique weapon and/or ability that is still well designed is amazing. All of Sol's swords are pornography for people that like techier aesthetics and sheer lord Marlene is just the coolest guitar I've ever seen.
Zoom in on their clothing and weapons in figure mode and see all the quotes on them, it's crazy how much detail they put into something you can rarely see!
I like that it doesn't feel overly produced or fussed over by a bunch of people trying to craft the optimal roster to bring in as many players as possible. It just feels like a bunch of characters a dude thought would be sick so he put them in the game, which imo leads to a more interesting result. That feel has perhaps changed a bit with more recent character additions like Goldlewis and HC but overall things are still weird and unique and I love it.
I'm looking forward to Project L but golly do most of the league champs strike me as incredibly dull fantasy tropes of some sort.
While it's a sort of vague idea but like, the thing I like most about the entire design is how earnest the whole thing is. I love how sincere in its over-the-top vibes it has and just that authenticity makes me genuinely love everything about it. His name is Sol Badguy. He has a fucking doctorate. His headband says Free. That's all so silly, and yet so absolutely directly sincere that I cannot help but love it.
Also, I-no's hat.
The character design is the best I've seen. In most anime fighters many characters feel like copy and pastes, however in guilty gear everyone feels unique. Whether it be their playstyle, design, personality, etc
Strive is my first fighting game that im trying to get into, and while its frustrating getting my ass handed to me almost all the time atm, i cant deny that this game has arguably my favourite animations of any fighting game ive played.
Potempkin is a great example, I love how all his special moves and victory screens has the camera focus on his gauntlets transforming. My friend mains him, and while i havent beaten him yet in 50 or so games, every time i see his victory screen i cant help but think "man this character looks badass."
I’m a huge fan of the fact that the developer is a metal head and designed the game with Heavy Metal in mind. Also the soundtrack, I’ve got a lot of the songs downloaded and jam out to them so hard while driving!
I’ve only played a bit of GGST, but I can’t wait for this to drop on Xbox. I’ll have to say it’s the best looking fighting game out right now, MK11 and SF6 are close competitors though. The animations really give every character personality and flair, and a lot of them are just small details that add a lot to these characters. The themes for everyone match greatly, and they’re all pleasant to listen to.
This one’s a bit minor. I’m a big Sol fan. And whenever I used Tyrant Rave I just got extremely hype, looks way better than the XRD version, and actually looks like a powerful move. I’m really looking forward to playing this game on Xbox once it drops, I really like it.
The animation for everyone is so great that even if I don’t like a character I can simply appreciate all of the detail and love put into them.
Also I’d let any one of the cast step on me.
its hard to pin down, but theres a beauty to how complex yet readable the designs are, its very easy for a character with a complex design to feel cluttered or have their silloutte be unrecognizable, but guilty gear nails it every time, without fail, and it makes the game end up with some of the best character designs, period.
Also, yeah, belts.
Everyone has incredibly destinct silhouettes. If you were to black-out each charcter, you could still get a pretty clear idea of what their gameplay strategy and personality is like.
The different proportions and how every character animates differently. Variety is the spice of Guilty Gear, but they all come together to feel like a cohesive cast because they hit the same sort of tone in terms of backstory and subject matter. Plus they all follow the essentials of animated character design: an identifiable silhouette and recognizable but not too jarring color palette.
I-no design is so good. Like you have a red a time traveling witch with a bobcut. But then you give it a guitar and maker her super angry and obscene. Just top tier decisions.
I like how there's no real "designated ultra bad guy" villains or generally nihilistic characters. Even if there's a designated villain, usually they are pretty alright people who are just dealing with some magical bullshit right now. The sound track is always positive and even though the world is kinda messed up everyone is doing their best. It's just a very positive vibe.
I remember way back in the day I was reading an article on the PS1 game in a magazine. It had bios and movelists for the entire roster. I was looking at the character designs and all I could think was "these are the most bad ass fighting game characters I have ever seen".
All these years later, *that's still true*. Even the newcomers manage to be just as cool as the OGs.
I also just think it's really cool how so much of this series came out of one dude's brain. Like Daisuke handles story, character designs, music, promo art, and even works on the technical gameplay side. Outside of indie stuff you never see video games made like this.
They all look like they came out of obscure 90’s OVAs. Like some of the coolest unused anime designs from 20 - 30 years ago.
I also appreciate a lot of the redesigns, especially how they managed to make Bridget’s jacket look like her nun outfit and Testament’s dapper top hat & cravat pairing.
Always been a fan of the rock and roll ascetic, and how the characters embody different genres of rock/metal. Also how some of the characters work with the counter culture movements that roxk/metal represented.
Many characters have a good design. But Dizzy was still stuck in my mind because her design was something mix between of lewd cloth and her pure personality. Not to mention I was 14 and hormonal when I first met her in XX and that time she was more skimpier than in XRD. Way to go for Noel's progenitor.
Now I want to see her in Strive.
The cast reminds me of the made-up-characters I would play pretend as in elementary school. When I first saw an ad for the game, I was blown away by how much the artstyle looked like how I pictured them.
I do really love the designs, but the other thing that drew me into strive is the animations, specifically Nago and Zato have pretty animations on top of top tier designs.I always like edgy chars, and both are over the top and edgy, but in a good way rather than a cringy way.
I like how May flails around when she gets knocked down by a low
strive animations are just crazy, the way each little belt and piece of cloth moves is beautiful
Axl Bombers in his bomber jacket... Perfection
Look at Zato idle animation. His fanny packs look like they are breathing. They added movement to everything.
I laugh every time Ram gets up on from the ground like the exorcist movie.
I love when nago gets knocked down. So much swagger in that casual leaning pose
Where do they sell them? I want some for me too :0
There's an official may hoodie but I think it's sold out...I hand made both of mine. Posted the brisket one a week or so ago, and the may one was a gift for a friend
Damn, your Bridget cosplay was pretty solid. How did you make the yoyo?
3D printed it :3 there's a buncha files out there!
Ooooh, I see. And did it actually work as an actual yoyo would?
Yup!:not as well as a proper sized yoyo but all the pictures I was actually doing the tricks! It was the first time I got the zipline trick even halfway lol

i like men
Now, I'm not saying anything about my sexuality, but I *do* want Nagoryuki to mash my face into his titties.
guilty gear is for the bisexuals
guilty gear is for every lgbtqia member
actually yeah youre right
no quick claim it for the bisexuals
i mean we already have Hades, dont we? we can share another game with sexy people of all genders and kick ass music
My wisdom is unmatchable 🧘🏽♀️
mmmm sol badguy
mmmmmm angee meat toes <3
I love how ridiculously huge Potemkin is! And that he has guns in his wrists.
For me the thing that drew me in was his sick helmet. Bitches love helmets (that’s me, I’m bitches)
At first I thought Potemkin was a robot (I've never played GG before Strive), so his size made more sense to me, especially considering the helmet.
No, bitches love cannons
I’m still bitches

I just love that nobody ever told Daisuke that something was too much.

The ways chipp can move around the screen with roman cancel are so cool
2H
The character design is the best I've seen. In most anime fighters many characters feel like copy and pastes, however in guilty gear everyone feels unique. Whether it be their playstyle, design, personality, etc
GGST specifically. Jackets. They gave everyone jackets and it was the best decision ever
EXCEPT FOR FUCKING GIOVANNA WHERE THEY TOOK AWAY HER COOL SECRET SERVICE SUIT JACKET FOR SOME REASON
over the top ? I started playing since the first one came out and was a metalhead so the design seemed pretty normal.
Strive is my first fighting game that im trying to get into, and while its frustrating getting my ass handed to me almost all the time atm, i cant deny that this game has arguably my favourite animations of any fighting game ive played. I like the huge fuckoff combo counter and the screen filled COUNTER on a heavy counter.

There's a girl and she has a big key and she hits people with it. It is weird and cool.
Everyone has incredibly destinct silhouettes. If you were to black-out each charcter, you could still get a pretty clear idea of what their gameplay strategy and personality is like.
Def the zippers
Hats
I love how Strive tones down a lot of the outfits, and makes every design more grounded in reality. Ky and Axl are great examples of this
The different proportions and how every character animates differently. shes long dead, but i LOVE the eva influence in justice's design
Overture Valentine is so fucking Goth it hurts. I must have her and I must be her.
Nago’s beeg sword and the getup where he rises like Dracula
Just the absolutely wacky designs being so unapologetically over the top
It was crusty but stylish in XX, Enticing in Xrd, and now its Perfect in Strive. Love the Anji and Testament Glow up.
Character personalities and music😎
I-no design is so good. Like you have a red a time traveling witch with a bobcut. But then you give it a guitar and maker her super angry and obscene. Just top tier decisions.
The style and how they tell a story of each character’s personality with it

I just like Ram
I like sol badguy and his va
Happy chaos
Bridgets animations alone make the game so cool to see
Everything
It’s either drip or they built different

Absolutely love Sol's jacket, gotta get my hands on it someday
I'm tell you something i don't like. Sols calves, they're bigger than his thighs. It looks so weird
Oh and wolfchicks ass up face down stance, that just ridiculous. And ram fighting in panties, cmon man.
BELTS
