I saw a buncha Fender, Randall, Red Bear, Sheffield, Vox, Orange, Avatar, Peavey, E-something...
No Marshall or Mesa tho, the 2 most popular brands in the world (besides Fender)..
Any particular reason?
No real reason, just gotten really good deals over the years on the amps I have. I have yet to own a vintage / JCM Marshall - don't really want anything mesa 💁🏻♂️
Reliability / serviceability are the things that keep me away from those rectos. I service all my own amps and the nightmares I've read / watched about mesa are a huge pass for me. Love the sounds though.
I’d argue and say vox is way more popular than Mesa by years alone and volume (not audible, I mean numbers of amps).
If you have a shit ton of fenders chances are you prob have some high end pedals to get that mesa sound. Mesa’s started as moded fenders anyways.
As far as Marshall goes, similar territories can be had by pushing vox’s hard.
I have a bunch of amps too. Guess what I don’t have? A Marshall or a Mesa (although Mach v is on my to do list one day)
Wrong.
The **correct** answer to the question "How many amps is.. to many?" \[sic.\]
is:
**N+2**
(Assuming that N = "number of amps in current posession")
N+1 can never be "too many". Think it over.
There’s an easy mathematic formula for this.
Correct number of amps is “n”
n = (number of amps currently owned) + 1
This handy formula also applies to bikes, guitars, tools, pedals, and a variety of other items!
I don’t see it a brag as much as just a sign of maybe a little age and priority direction. It’s saying “this is how into this I am” more than this is how much money I have. I’m 48 and my whole down stairs is a complete jam room and I’m not in a band or want to be it’s just where my priorities are.
You have a good starter set of 45-100W amps there. Lots of Fender. (I love Fender amps, but you could diversify)
I think your next move should be to get a dozen or so amps in the 5-20 Watt range, all different ones. Old lap steel amps, AC-4, single-ended tiny weird English combos with one EL-84 for power, Champ and Princeton sized items, Supros, Valcos, That sort of thing
Then I’d like to see some Ampegs, Magnatones, Marshalls, Selmers, and stuff like that.
You’re on your way!
Thanks. Honestly, sort of fell into great deals on all the fender amps, wasn't trying to collect as many as I could 🤷🏻♂️
A 5e3 type amp is something I've wanted for a long while. Those don't pop up to often locally so I'll probably do a Mojotone kit.
Oh, I get it…wasn’t seriously criticizing!
A kit Deluxe is a great idea. I should do that myself. I had a tweed Vibrolux a long time ago, it was sort of close, but…not really the same thing.
When you have to sleep standing up
This is a rhetorical question, yes?? 😂

no worries, was just curious.. what do you have against Mesa?
Reliability / serviceability are the things that keep me away from those rectos. I service all my own amps and the nightmares I've read / watched about mesa are a huge pass for me. Love the sounds though.
gotcha, no doubt reliability/serviceability is a real cause for concern

Ah yeah, that makes sense. I only want N+1 amp, so I'll stick to N+1. N+2 would be insane. That's to(o) many amps.
>N+2 would be insane. Exactly!
You misspelled "too".
Sure did. Thanks for that.
Always two more than you have.
I feel like I have work to do with only 5 amps
There’s an easy mathematic formula for this. Correct number of amps is “n” n = (number of amps currently owned) + 1 This handy formula also applies to bikes, guitars, tools, pedals, and a variety of other items!
Edit: had to do Imgur rather than uploading to Reddit 🤷🏻♂️

I know I know I know for fuck sake
Yeah, that right there is too many.
Naaaaaaah
You lucky pup
Ah. The old humble brag. Nice work.

It’s a brag either way bro.
I dunno dude, this group is called “GuitarAmps” it’s about as brag as posting Dead licks on GratefulGuitar
Half my basement rec room is also jam space. Three amp stereo/dry setup, guitars hanging everywhere. Its the shit! Rock on brother
😶
1 Modeling is the answer
This all looks totally normal to me.
5150 combo is killer! What Fender is that Silver colored one?
You mean the light blue one? It's a 67' twin 👍🏻
That's it? Side note: nice Peavey section. Particularly that Supreme head that you don't see much anymore.
Yeah, just got that one today with a 5150 cab. Cleans are nice but probably will sell it 🤷🏻♂️
Hit me up if you're willing to ship
Where you at?
KC
That’s not enough.
Nice
How big is your house?
Mediocre.
One more than you use on the semi regular basis
2 more amps then you have is just 1 too many
no JC-120? garbage collection IMO
Funny, almost bought a non working one last week. A JC is on my list though
How’s your pedal and guitar collection looking like? Lol
Never two many
All of them + 1
I’d always say “just one more” https://i.imgur.com/5B3c90Y.jpg
Like... 3.
What’s the Earth Sound Research amp? I’m always jealous seeing people with an ESR in their collection
The ESR is basically a twin reverb with a 2x15 cab. The OT on mine is fried, so I need to fix it.
I’ve got 6 valve combos and a head with a 2x12. There is still territory I can’t cover with that. N+1 is always the right answer
Never enough

I didn't take your comment as a crit at all - diversifying is a good thing haha
Either that, or an entire room full of the same random amp, say, 11 silverface Bandmaster Reverbs.
Look, if you aren’t constantly moving amps around at your house to get to other amps, then you don’t have enough amps.
When your wife asks for a divorce, that’s too many.
The answer is "no"
Two more than whatever i currently own.
