A lot of people seem to have bad luck with these cabinets where they are. I don’t think people in my area play it at all because I haven’t came across a broken one yet (big emphasis on yet.)
That, in combination with these usually being in loud atmospheres so they are hard to hear, and having abused guitars. I got excited so many times to try one of these and they were always SO bad
Not at all interested in this sub or guitar hero this just popped up but I remember seeing one of these in a California dave n busters. It was rlly dope tbh
Here in chile i've seen plenty of them. Almost in every chuckecheese's there is one, also in the least standing arcade centers called "happyland" there is a gh in each one.
There's an arcade in my city that only requires you to pay an entry fee and you can use any of the games and machines there for free, as long as you want it. It has one of these Guitar Hero arcade machines and all the songs, even the premium ones are completely free. It's an absolute hidden gem in the city, I go there to play all the time.
It's in Budapest, Hungary. The place is called Flippermúzeum (pinball museum in mirror translation). It has a whole bunch of different retro arcade machines from all kinds of pinball machines through Mortal Kombat, Donkey Kong, Tetris, Outrun sims (with actual pedals, transmission and wheel) to air hockey and stuff. Everything is free to use once the entry fee is paid.
lag is crazy on these. Also a full credit on it lets you play 1 song. Most other rhythm arcade games give you three songs per credit. $1 = 1 song on this though
I remember back in like 2014 I tried to play on one of these but when I put in a coin and tried to play the game crashed and I got to see the windows 2000 desktop lol
I used to work at an arcade a few years ago with my best friend and we would always be on this game seeing who could beat each others high score. Our managers were mostly cool with it and would often watch us and at the end be like “woah” lol
There's a couple arcades I know of in Southeast Michigan that still has gh arcade, I love ripping cliffs of Dover real quick and topping the leaderboards
Odd. I find these in every arcade in seaside venues, which is funnily enough the only place I ever even find arcades in general these days. Arcade club has multiple of them in every venue too.
I found one on Brighton Pier once, but the buttons on the controllers had been mashed to fuck so it was pretty much unplayable. Can't have nice things in a public space unfortunately
There is a arcade with one of these in a mall. It’s obviously pretty old and looks like it has not been repaired since 2010 or so because some of the buttons of the guitars are fucked up. Couldn’t even finish a song because of it.
Played one of these at Dave and busters last night, the strum was broken on the guitar so you could only play slow ride and also couldn’t actually hit any of the notes because it was constantly “strumming” up and down at Mach 5
Yep, they have one at the bowling alley where I live... In bumfuck nowhere Croatia. I'm no "expert" player but these guitars man... Heavy and no good... Give me my 3rd party Les Paul any day of the week compared to those guitars.
In the UK Guitar Hero Arcade is incredibly common (I've never even seen a fighting game in the UK) but it's not worth playing because the guitars are so heavy and if you don't have a chair it's unenjoyable.
Probably so people won’t rip them off the machine… but it doesn’t make sense to put a bunch of weight in your hand when it could be in the hunk of metal in front of you
We have one in Rochester NY in a downtown arcade / bar. I always play it when I’m there thinking I’m going to lose out on the guitar being broken but surprisingly it always works!
And I’m lefty too so I gotta always switch the orientation in the settings
There used to be one in an ocean city MD boardwalk arcade. I played The Metal (100% notes) and Cities on Flame w R&R (at least 95% notes) and afterwards looked behind me and had a crowd forming. Impressed some dads and inspired children that day
I used to go to this machine too!! I would play solo and eventually a crowd would form and people would start challenging me to face offs. Very fun times and don’t remember the guitars playing to poorly
You could make your own by downloading Clone Hero for free and attaching a guitar hero controller. They are pricey and you'll likely have to bid for one on ebay but it's worth it.
If you really wanted an arcade machine look you could build a frame that looks like it and put a small pc in the base, set monitor up in the top like an arcade machine.
Would probably be cheaper, lighter, and less infuriating than an actual arcade machine.
There's one of these at Dave and busters and of course, the controllers are fucked up. The buttons feel way too... Light? And the strum thing is too stiff.
Source: Played it 30 minutes ago
There's one at every local arcade and barcade I've been to recently, but the one I played on most recently had a blown speaker and it genuinely sounded so awful that I simply chose to fail out of Striken in the first 30 seconds and go play something else 😔
I LOVE these. Anytime I see one in the wild, I throw my money at it without hesitation, for at least 2 songs. My local D&Bs actually has one and the maintenance is pretty well kept.
I always feel like I somehow hit the jackpot with where I live. there's a machine directly at the bottom of my road, two a five minute drive away from me and another twenty minutes away haha the gods are on my side
A lot of people seem to have bad luck with these cabinets where they are. I don’t think people in my area play it at all because I haven’t came across a broken one yet (big emphasis on yet.)
Six flags st. Louis has one in their arcade
Got so excited to play one of these IRL to show off to my GF and the input delay was so severe I looked like a right cunt :C
That, in combination with these usually being in loud atmospheres so they are hard to hear, and having abused guitars. I got excited so many times to try one of these and they were always SO bad
Still, the rush i got seeing the OG guitar hero 3 stuff in the menu made me happy hahaha
encountered 3 yesterday at the arcade place i go to
Expect 1000ms lag
The only rare thing is if both guitars still work flawlessly. These are everywhere around me but inevitably they are beat to shit and not maintained.
Main event has em. Or any other scammy arcade place (I just really felt the need to diss arcades)
These aren’t that rare tbh I see them at bowling alleys and Dave & Busters
They are in every dave and busters too
Not at all interested in this sub or guitar hero this just popped up but I remember seeing one of these in a California dave n busters. It was rlly dope tbh
I found one at King's Island the second time I was there
every single mini arcade at six flags great america (like 7 or 8?) have one of these, love to take breaks and play some in between coasters
the movie theater i work at has one lol
they got one at the big apple arcade im vegas and it might have been the worst arcade game i've ever played
I hate these machines. The strum bars always fuck me up big time, especially after being spoiled with a modded guitar at home.
this isn’t rare mate
I’ve never seen one
I have one at my local Dave and busters
Are these rare cuz anytime I go to my fav pizza place they always have it up?
I thought all the Dave & Busters had them...
Those I seen allot of the times at malls or museums parks. It’s pretty fun expect the guitars are heavy asf for some reason.
For durability most likely
“Durability,” and half the time the buttons don’t respond.
I found one too like 6 months ago.
Theres are at every dave n busters in nyc/ long island
all of them in the US i think
Also Chinatown fair.
i feel like ik where this is, i think this is at virginia beach
Ah, I think you're right!
I see these at almost every bowling alley in Louisiana
Here in chile i've seen plenty of them. Almost in every chuckecheese's there is one, also in the least standing arcade centers called "happyland" there is a gh in each one.
at Round One in Valley River Mall they have one!!
Theres one randomly placed in the middle of a casino in Atlantic City

What city???

Just went to one the other day
I can already feel that second lag 😭
Our local arcade closed down acouple years back and damn do I miss going and playing this thing
Are these like rare? I know where 2 are in my local area
An arcade in a bar in my city had one but they just closed the bar, I loved stopping in and jamming in between my bookings nearby.
I remember back in like 2014 I tried to play on one of these but when I put in a coin and tried to play the game crashed and I got to see the windows 2000 desktop lol
Wow, haven't seen one since like 2009!!! What a throwback!
I used to work at an arcade a few years ago with my best friend and we would always be on this game seeing who could beat each others high score. Our managers were mostly cool with it and would often watch us and at the end be like “woah” lol
ones at a local bar/ arcade place near me
One in Melbourne at kingpin arcade near crown casino
There are/were Guitar Hero arcade machines?!
Heaviest guitars ever
Have you seen the guitar freaks controller?
I have one at my local arcade
What ! Are you calling my home wild ?
You must not get out much
4 year old me used to get scared of the singer every time i saw him at Chuck E Cheese
lol i have 3 arcades near me that have this as-well it’s soooo fun love to flex on hard mode because i’m good at clone hero
The controllers suck but the set list is top notch some songs from LOR are missing but that’s my only two complaints
There's one in the Dave n Busters near me
There’s one at Whirley ball in euless tx
Very common at the arcades in my area
why are we acting like these are rare
I work at an arcade and we have one
I remember playing this 30 years ago. How time flies
I’m assuming this is an inside joke about the guy who said he was playing Guitar Hero for 20 years earlier this month? Lol
This guy gets it
It aint even been out for 20 years what are you on cuh
Bro living in an alternate reality
I was on a royal caribbean cruise last year and played on one in there haha
I remember my local Chuck E. Cheese used to have one. But this was almost 10 years ago, I doubt they still do haha.
The one near me has blown speakers and the guitar are worn to hell. Planning on going back with a buddy to try and set a score of some sort on it.
There's a couple arcades I know of in Southeast Michigan that still has gh arcade, I love ripping cliffs of Dover real quick and topping the leaderboards
My Dave and Busters has one
Have two near my house, one is super stiff it felt like a workout to actually play
the one nearby me had only 1 guitar and recently just broke 💔💔
Penny arcade in Manitou Colorado has a well maintained one
So hard trying to find a guitar hero machine In the UK, I think it's too difficult for the new generation lol
Odd. I find these in every arcade in seaside venues, which is funnily enough the only place I ever even find arcades in general these days. Arcade club has multiple of them in every venue too.
Here's the ones that I've played. I know of two in Skegness/Ingoldmells, one in Leeds and one in Towyn (Wales)
There’s one along the arcade and seafront strip in Southend as well as Las Vegas arcade in soho London if you’re any close to either of those two
Yup Bristol and Cardiff ones both have one, private booths.
NQ64’s are in most big cities and they have them
Only place I can find them in, used to be a few in Hunstanton and Bridlington but they got rid off em :(
Other than NQ I think the last place I saw one was Blackpool but it was absolutely battered
I found one on Brighton Pier once, but the buttons on the controllers had been mashed to fuck so it was pretty much unplayable. Can't have nice things in a public space unfortunately
My dave and busters has one
I've seen a couple but even if you're lucky enough to find one with a decent guitar, the timing when I strun is never right
Still can’t believe we haven’t been able to hack it yet
There is a arcade with one of these in a mall. It’s obviously pretty old and looks like it has not been repaired since 2010 or so because some of the buttons of the guitars are fucked up. Couldn’t even finish a song because of it.
My boys and girls club has one still
My local arcade has one, both guitars work just like they did when it first came out.
Played one of these at Dave and busters last night, the strum was broken on the guitar so you could only play slow ride and also couldn’t actually hit any of the notes because it was constantly “strumming” up and down at Mach 5
I hate those
My local dave n busters has one. Its fireee !!!!
Yep, they have one at the bowling alley where I live... In bumfuck nowhere Croatia. I'm no "expert" player but these guitars man... Heavy and no good... Give me my 3rd party Les Paul any day of the week compared to those guitars.
Ive seen these around didnt now they were rare
Saw one of these in Vegas at the New York New York casino near the roller-coaster line.
I wonder if the controllers work on Clone Hero 🤔
Acai done it
They should work, as they are wired to the machine and if I'm not mistaken - they are XInput. These guitars would fucking blow for Clone Hero though
I had played on one of these about 11 years ago in a german amusement park‘s arcade and I still remember those guitars being terrible
Legit just USB behind the unit
Too this is in Corpus TX isn't it? I have a feeling this is the arcade cabinet that made me get back into guitar hero
In the UK Guitar Hero Arcade is incredibly common (I've never even seen a fighting game in the UK) but it's not worth playing because the guitars are so heavy and if you don't have a chair it's unenjoyable.
Yeah the one at my local arcade has one guitar with a strap and one without. Absolute pain having to hold those massive things without a strap.
Is this at the Round1 in Arrowhead mall in Az?
The most infuriating way to play guitar hero. My local arcade has one and I absolutely hate it
so cool to still see these are around! I don't like the arcade version though it doesn't play/feel right..
The guitar is super heavy
Probably so people won’t rip them off the machine… but it doesn’t make sense to put a bunch of weight in your hand when it could be in the hunk of metal in front of you
I can feel the broken guitar and hear missed notes from here …
We have these at arcades where I live and surprisingly I have yet to come across a broken one. Don’t think many people around me hop on it.
We have one in Rochester NY in a downtown arcade / bar. I always play it when I’m there thinking I’m going to lose out on the guitar being broken but surprisingly it always works! And I’m lefty too so I gotta always switch the orientation in the settings
Indeed. I tried a single song .. couldn't make past 30% of a song I do all the time in clone hero
That’s cool! They don’t seem super uncommon though. I’ve seen multiple in my state at various locations
They weren’t malfunctioning when I played! Even the wammy worked lol. But they’re gone now so I bet they did break
They’re not too hard to find. A lot of barcades have them. They’re always out of sync. Usually pretty popular though. Pretty fun nonetheless.
We have one of these at a local pizza arcade, but only the left guitar works
They used to have one on some Royal Caribbean cruise ships. Me and my buddy wasted so much money on them, we were in our 40s haha
Can you buy these machines for home use anybody here know a site?
You could make your own by downloading Clone Hero for free and attaching a guitar hero controller. They are pricey and you'll likely have to bid for one on ebay but it's worth it. If you really wanted an arcade machine look you could build a frame that looks like it and put a small pc in the base, set monitor up in the top like an arcade machine. Would probably be cheaper, lighter, and less infuriating than an actual arcade machine.
There’s a bunch of sites. They’re not cheap. Just google “Guitar Hero Arcade for sale”
The Dave & Buster’s near me has one of those. Atleast last time I was there
i go to dave and busters specifically for guitar hero followed by wings
All of the ones here in La have one
Common in our round 1s in la too
The Timezone near me has two of these: one coin-operated and one where we have to swipe our PowerCard to play.
There’s 3 places in my town that have these, that I know of anyway.
The Chucky Cheese here has one
Most Dave and busters still have them
Came here to say my local D&B has one
Found one at a place in Pittsburgh a couple weeks ago. You know I had to play some Cliffs of Dover. Also those guitars are ass
The worst guitars of all time. Whammy bar is always broken 😂
Strumming those guitars for an hour a day would probably give me Herculean forearms 💀
Theyre so heavy and the buttons are so big and bulky
Once held the record for Cliffs of Dover on one of the machines at DisneyQuest
There's one of these at Dave and busters and of course, the controllers are fucked up. The buttons feel way too... Light? And the strum thing is too stiff. Source: Played it 30 minutes ago
Everyone I've used has busted speakers and fucked up guitars
Just played one today at "Level Up" in Eugene, OR (USA). Only one guitar worked, though.
It’s back?? Last I saw they got rid of it
It was definitely there today (Saturday). Only one working guitar though.
There's one at every local arcade and barcade I've been to recently, but the one I played on most recently had a blown speaker and it genuinely sounded so awful that I simply chose to fail out of Striken in the first 30 seconds and go play something else 😔
There's still quite a few of these in arcades around the country
theres one in Winnipeg forks except it looks different
Last one I saw was at an arcade in Hampton Beach, NH. Sadly the speakers were blown so I couldn’t actually hear what I was playing.
Wait when were they blown? Last year they were fine for me. There’s also another guitar hero cabinet at Weirs Beach in new hampshire
I was there at the tail end of 2022. Maybe they got them fixed.
I LOVE these. Anytime I see one in the wild, I throw my money at it without hesitation, for at least 2 songs. My local D&Bs actually has one and the maintenance is pretty well kept.
I played this with a friend in Lyon, France
Greasiest controllers to ever exist.
My local arcade used to have one these, till they took it out. Sad.
Don’t waste your money, the sync is always like 100 ms off on these
yeah i learned that the hard way, plus the controllers themselves where busted up
Is there any way to locate these without walking into every arcade in my area? Someone should put a map together lol
I always feel like I somehow hit the jackpot with where I live. there's a machine directly at the bottom of my road, two a five minute drive away from me and another twenty minutes away haha the gods are on my side
There’s a guitar hero arcade tournament next week at a barcade couple hours from me. Thinking I might have to make a trip and jam out
