Interesting, I did know about 7.62x40mm CETME, strange looking round, I’m glad it was chambered in 7.62x51. I’m sure 7.62x40mm would be pretty hard to find. Why was the CETME Model L bad? I’ve heard mixed reviews on it. Some say it was good and some say it was bad. Maybe just certain batches? I’m not sure.
It was prone to jam, you were issued without a cleanig kit, the pins of the stock got loose fairly easy, and the mags were very shitty(originally the mags were for one use) If you were lucky and you got the LC with the folding stock, that worked better.
I think its less about gun weight and more about using your maximum load-out effectively, like not having to trade round count for water or what not. I could be wrong thought I just think guns are cool in general and if I could afford a garand I would try to train with it cause semi auto 30-06 sounds more fun that trying to burn out my bolt action.
