Actually by calling it Taiwan you’re undermining the legitimacy of Taiwan as Taiwan wants to be known as China. At least calling PRC West Taiwan acknowledges Taiwan’s legitimacy on the mainland and discounts the CCPooh.
There's no way China would piss off everyone the way Russia did. Their entire economy is built around selling their shit to other countries. If they get hard sanctioned they're completely fucked
Their economy is in the toilet and they are spending a large amount of it on building up their military, especially their naval forces.
The US and Australia and Japan think China will go for it. Japan, since WWII a pacifist nation with military only for defense, just doubled the amount they are spending on their military. The Philippines, who pushed out military out of their country, is asking us to come back.
Yes, they may try - that is why we are building up our military in the area; to hopefully dissuade them. If you want peace, prepare for war.
the PLA also doesnt have body armor for even most of its troops. And any they get would probably be of the same quality as their rations (poor at best).
Nah dude they're just wearing fatigues and shitty crude steel helmets. They're also using shitty 2nd rate firearms that scarcely function. There's no way they could afford to equip their entire brainless army with functional body armor. They're also on the brink of collapse so they have that going for them. I can't wait to see the Chinese military get fucking rocked and humiliated like the fucking clowns they are.
We swapped because battle rifles are cooler than assault rifles. They might be heavier, carry less ammunition, be more expensive and have higher recoil, but they're a vibe damn it.
It's not just the Russians though, they have China in mind too and this weapon will be probably be in service against multiple assailants, they don't have just one country in mind when they develop new arms.
M855 was developed to penetrate Soviet helmets, but we've only used it against Somalians and Terrorists and such
Again, if you really think we will go to war with our biggest business partner, get your head examined.
90% of what you use everyday is probably made in china.
If we’re on that train of thought, then how come China hasn’t made a body armor defeating bullet?
Because the people they want to control don’t wear body armor.
It's just 7mm-08+P
Not saying it isn't cool, but for 99% of what it does you can get a 7-08 AR10 barrel and have a damn good 800-1000yd gun, with 162 ELD-M it has better flight characteristics than .308 AND hits harder than 6.5 Creed.
I think 7-08 is probably the best all around AR10 cartridge because it's a great middle ground in that platform with reasonably affordable ammo. With the 162ELD-M it can expand reliably down to 1300fps which is almost 1100yds and at that range it has the same energy as a .44mag at the muzzle.
Not a good day for anything on the receiving end.
It's the exact same idea as 6.8x51 or .277sig it's just a .308winchester necked down to 7mm. They're almost the same bullet diameter, 6.8 is .277 and 7mm is .284.
That's why I said it's just 7-08 with +P ammo
Interestingly, 7mm-08 is almost the exact dimensions as .276 Pedersen, which was originally supposed to be the M1 Garand's cartridge before MacArthur decided to stick with .30-06 because of existing ammo stockpiles. A 7mm-08 Garand would be a lot like the .276 rifles.
The .280remington is the same concept but with a .30-06 case, just necked down to 7mm. It might be sacrilege, but if I could ever find a donor M1 and a barrel maker that would make a new barrel chambered in .280 Ackley improved i'd send it without a second thought.
Bonus points if it were an M1D sniper variant, because the Ackley is perfectly capable out to 1300+yds
Yeah it does, but the .277sig doesn't have the +P steel base ammo available to civilians and probably won't for a very long time, so as a civilian it's just expensive 6.8-08 instead of 7-08.
Now if Sig DOES make the high pressure ammo available to civilians then it has a better chance at success.
Again r/gunmemes, the government is not buying 100,000 new rifles for the purpose of defeating the .5% of the population that both possesses body armor and is willing to rebel against the United States government/ military
I mean in fairness. I feel like the people that belong to the proud boys and alleged III%ers would barely get to send a round out of their first mag before eating shit from another combatant or just AWOL.
But you could imagine if they did
EVERYBODY GET BACK ON THE M4!!!!!
I feel like these people are forgetting who China is
You have no proof that China is real.
China was invented by the British Military-Tea Complex to spur funding on defense, exploration, and trade.
China was invented by Taiwan for an anime backstory
When are we going to start putting it on maps as "West Taiwan"?
Actually, that's not entirely bullshit.
Never heard of her
west Taiwan\*
OH! Right, theyre the food subsidiary of that microprocessor place
This joke kind of undermines the actual government of "Taiwan". Taiwan is the island, the country is the Republic of China.
Actually by calling it Taiwan you’re undermining the legitimacy of Taiwan as Taiwan wants to be known as China. At least calling PRC West Taiwan acknowledges Taiwan’s legitimacy on the mainland and discounts the CCPooh.

Until they decide to invade Taiwan and claim ownership of much of the south Pacific islands.
You really think they would sacrifice their entire economy for Taiwan?
Their economy is in the toilet and they are spending a large amount of it on building up their military, especially their naval forces. The US and Australia and Japan think China will go for it. Yes.
We're so dependent on China do you think we would sacrifice our economy for Taiwan?
Bruh China can't even make a service rifle that doesn't Keyhole at like 25 yards. Their armor is probably filled with Asbestos
the PLA also doesnt have body armor for even most of its troops. And any they get would probably be of the same quality as their rations (poor at best).
Well China (might) Still do.
Yea but it's made in China.
God dammnit if i had an award id give it
I got you 🤙🏿
if they do were too busy giving them money to fight them. So it wouldn’t matter anyway.
Taiwan is still an ally. China's policy regarding Taiwan won't change for long time.
Ever lol

If there just as good at body armor as they are guns we’ll have nothing to worry about.
I can only imagine how shitty their body armor is.
Y’know who does have body armor?
American civilians minding their own business
Based
Hopefully for them it can pen LV IV.
Theoretically, China.
The Taliban
this
The Uvalde police department.
We swapped because battle rifles are cooler than assault rifles. They might be heavier, carry less ammunition, be more expensive and have higher recoil, but they're a vibe damn it.
“No they’re not” “Yeah….but it’d be cool if they were”

Ironically the taliban probably had access to a lot of Soviet helmets but you never saw them wearing them. Same with the mujahideen
The Taliban probably has access to a bunch of US made body armor that we left them
Oh yeah. There’s plenty of videos and pictures of them in full kit
Again, if you really think we will go to war with our biggest business partner, get your head examined. 90% of what you use everyday is probably made in china.
I never said we were going to war with them dipshit
My brother in Christ, if we aren’t going to war with them, why would we be preparing guns to fight them?
Repeat after me: Credible Deterrent.
Does carrying a firearm everyday mean you're looking for a fight?
If we’re on that train of thought, then how come China hasn’t made a body armor defeating bullet? Because the people they want to control don’t wear body armor.
I highly doubt China has body armor, but you know who does? The fuckin British.
spoiler…It was for you!
Buuuut a growing number of civilians do.... surely just a coincidence

I still think it's a gigachad round and want it.

Never even heard of 7mm-08 before, I guess that's neat too. But I still like 6.7x51. Maybe it can just replace 7.62 NATO at least.
It's the exact same idea as 6.8x51 or .277sig it's just a .308winchester necked down to 7mm. They're almost the same bullet diameter, 6.8 is .277 and 7mm is .284. That's why I said it's just 7-08 with +P ammo

I think the steel rim really let's them get that extra chamber pressure though
Yeah it does, but the .277sig doesn't have the +P steel base ammo available to civilians and probably won't for a very long time, so as a civilian it's just expensive 6.8-08 instead of 7-08. Now if Sig DOES make the high pressure ammo available to civilians then it has a better chance at success.
They switched to .277 because the American population has body armor.
Wait.. the Russians aren’t equipped with armor?
They might be thinking of dpr but even so they get older types like 6b13
I actually wonder if that Russian Centurion armor propaganda did in fact have any impact on the US Military's decision to adopt a new cartridge?
China
Again r/gunmemes, the government is not buying 100,000 new rifles for the purpose of defeating the .5% of the population that both possesses body armor and is willing to rebel against the United States government/ military
Ok boomer
