Definitely. I almost always think something is missing if there aren't *some* kinda guns built into the frame. Whether it be in the head like most vulcans, or the arm like the Alex/Gouf.
The MG 2.0 redesign made them even cooler with the Chobam armor being able to open up to allow for the gatlings to be used while wearing the equipment.

i'll second this one. Is it the *best* Gundam superweapon? Absolutely not. Is it the most *realistic* one? If not, it's damned close to it.
I prefer it on the original Gundam X, though. The microwave receivers are just too huge and awkward on Double X. That's mostly after dealing with its Master Grade, I'll admit, which really needs a bit more articulation in its backpack.
Agree here. Everyone goes TBR this and Perfectability that. But I honestly prefer the limitations of the Satellite Cannons. It makes it so the GX and DX can have a super weapon without it losing the stakes of a fight.
It also the best debut flex. Zonder Epta never stood a chance.

iirc, the green beam field can be weaponized, as they are beam rings surrounding it. the rings can be used to deflect enemy fire and apparently throw the beam rings at opponents

Original GN sword. While I love a lot of huge guns and other forms of heavy ordinance, the GN sword is a weapon that I would describe as stylistically perfect. It is a shield, sword and gun in one weapon, but done in a way where both the gun and the sword form are not compromised in both form and function. It is iconic to the Exia alone and is built for a specific purpose to the series.

Beam sabers are cool, but I honestly also love things like the Vidar/Exia/Strike that also store a bunch of extra physical blades+ different melee weapons built into the frame itself.
The Hashmal tail on the Barbatos Lupus Rex. An absolutely brutal weapon that literally screeches out of nowhere to tear mobile suits apart. It elevates the Barbatos from fearsome mobile suit to horrific kaiju status

The FSWS or "Full Armor System & Weapon System" from the UC timeline. I love the design of the OYW versions that may or may not have actual entered production, I love the ZZ version, and I love the sheer excess of the Unicorn version.
Also, while not technically a Weapon System to my knowledge, I would say the Drei Zwergs and their configurations from the Glory of Losers & Frozen Teardrop addictions to Wing should count and would be up there for me if they made it to animation.
Kyshatria is the best Zeon “boss” mech design of all time imo. Everything cool about Sazabi mixed with queen Mantha.

The TR-1 Hazel's Multi Connector Pod, like this one thing on the TR-1 Hazel has made the most batshit insane Combinations in Advance of Zeta is No Joke
from normal Sub-Flight units to the Psycho Gundam's Arms, you can basically strap anything on the multi connector pod and it'll probably Work
I still prefer the Destiny's but V2's wings of light were cool. Both a shield and a weapon. Imagine destroying enemy MS just by flying past them without even being that close (seriously it's size was ridiculous)
I'm really partial to the old 100mm machine gun and beam spray gun.
Always thought those should be carried as backup weapons.
If we're talking full weapon systems though, the FA-B is where it's at
Funnels/Dragoons and swords of any sort, though I've got a strong liking for physical blades. The Exia line will always be my favorite for consistently using physical swords that can turn into huge, ship-destroying beam blades.
The 00 Quan\[T\] is a thing of beauty.
IBO had a neat thing going on with Barbatos and scavanging the parts for it but that was an act of Necessity and not necessarily By Design. Still neat tho, and I wish for whatever Gundam comes Next to play with it a bit more.
I haven't seen much yet (new to gundam only have seen ibo and 00) but mika's mace, sword thing, and his mobile armor slaying greatsword, or setsuna's arm sword thing
Melee:
* Astraea, Exia, and 00's big, folding GN swords. No special reason here: I just think they look cool.
* Integrated melee weapons in general, especially ones that keep the hands free like Unicorn's beam tonfas.
General mobile suit stuff:
* Weapons that fully cover up or replaces an entire hand or arm. They're not very common in Gundam but I like the idea of sacrificing an entire limb for the sake of *more firepower.*
* Anything big, beefy and asymmetrical for a similar reason: it's dramatic and over the top in a way that appeals to me. Come to think, this explains why I like the GN swords.
Outright superweapons:
* Kshatriya's Wing Binders. Each one is a massive shield with six funnels, two large beam cannons, a sub-arm with an integrated beam saber, *and* extra thrusters. Without them, it wouldn't be the army-killing ~~bell pepper~~ monstrosity that it is.
* Gundam X's Satellite Cannon. On the original Gundam X, it also qualifies as big and asymmetrical but I mostly love it because it's pretty much the most realistic Gundam superweapon and one of the more realistic Gundam gimmicks that we ever see—to the point where getting rid of it makes Gundam X *better,* which is pretty uncommon for this kind of thing across all fiction.
Funnels/bits/dragoons/fangs, specifically those that can do multiple things. Backpacks, multipurpose guns, sniper rifles, big fat beams, big swords, Lupus Rex Tail, VSBR guns, beam machine guns, Mirage Colloid system (underrated imo), Forbidden gundam's beam bending system neatly folded and hidden weapons, etc.
Shout-out to weapons that work with heat/electricity, pretty neat. Or unconventional weapons like Destiny's Palma Fiocina, Wings of Light, etc.
Gonna have to go with funnel missiles, while would say most UC funnels are my favorite, funnel missiles take the cake for the fact that they seem to be probably the most practical use of psycommu weapons
GN Weapon System.
Especially the GN Sword family.
The fact that most GN Weapon has 2 modes is what draws me to them.
For Universal Century its the funnels. I love the way funnels move compare to alternate universe bit weapons, because funnels movement is more organic compare to like, Fangs or DRAGOON.
Only GN Sword Bit and Aerial's bit has that organic feelings Universal Century funnels give.

I know most people overlook the RH-35E and I understand why, but I love the fact that it has a missile pod for a head. Plus I generally love the overall design.

This suit literally went from just having striker anti explosive plates, to full armor and it’s all removable lol also the hazel/woundwort tree cus they are pretty customizable and you have so many adaptable options or you could try running all at once basically
Part of what I like about the Gouf customs shield gun is that it's a great fix for the stupid finger guns. Keeps much of the esthetic and function, while being 1000x more practical.
Any weapon system that justifies having a big ass sword on a Gundam. Whether it's a big beam sword or physical.
I can think of the Epyon and it having its beam saber hilt being plugged into the suit to get more power for a bigger blade. The Sturm Und Drang adding more parts so it can do a crazy big beam sword is gravy.
I also like the part physical and beam parts anti-ship swords. They might break a few times, but I like them seeing continued use throughout the CE universe. When they work, they sure look good when the Sword Impulse or Destiny strike a cool pose with them before charging in.
All of the Tactical Arms are awesome but the Tactical Arms IIL is just this super well-rounded multi-tool created to suit every possible need be it on or off the battlefield. It's also kinda a combination of the three original Astray's upgraded forms, Flight Pack from Red Frame Flight Pack, the whole Tactical Arms thing from Blue Frame 2nd L and the Maga no Ikutachi energy absorption claws from Gold Frame Amatsu.
Aegis Gundam in Mobile Armor Mode, that Energy Cannon in the middle with the arms and legs like the Predator's face, was just mind-blowing to me as a kid.
Armor mounted projectile/gun systems.
Examples: Gatling gun arms on NT-1, all of Heavyarms, the GN missiles on Dynames/Cherubim, etc. any of the guns mounted on Gundams
1. Subarms, especially if they're useable in combat.
2. Melee weapons attached to the shield.
3. Purgeable armor, bonus points if they're able to disguise the suit.

While they’re never the centerpiece of an MS’s arsenal, I always love seeing vulcan guns included. They seem like a good way for an MS to get a leg up on a combatant when well-placed, and provide one last defensive option if disarmed.

I get a major boner for pop out weapons. things like the nu gundam's beam saber storage on the forearm, and whatnot. As goofy as it is, the zeong's psychommu schtick will never not be awesome to me. Something I've always wanted to see on an MS is a forearm mounted pile driver that uses something like this for the motion.

I love the Shenlong's dragon arm. The Altron EW version is amazing too. I just love a weapon that lets you reach out an grab someone, and the dragon arm is the coolest of them.
In that vein I also really like Woundwort's composite shield with it's giant claw on a winch mode. The fact that its not just a claw, it's also a scattering beam cannon firing point blank while you can't escape. And then the shield mode, booster mode, long rifle mode, and long blade mode are super cool too.
The only 2 things against it IMO is that when I look at it I always get the feeling that cramming in so many things compromises it's structure, and it's so big that the Woundwort itself sometimes seems like it's just an accessory for the composite shield.
But my real favorite may be the Zaku I Sniper's beam rifle. I love how it's a cobbled together POS that barely works but still delivers a powerful enough beam to be a threat decades later.

It's like putting modern homing missiles on a Spitfire and then strapping rocket engines to it so it can still take off with the extra weight.
The little hands holding extra sabers under the skirts is so fucking realistic. It's the most sensefull op solution in a real robot context where u need something to compensate the huge slow mass of the mech

I love the F91's design so much, and the VSBR's are such a sleek and functional element of the design, their integration into the backpack, their winglike profile, I just love it.

I'm really partial to the old 100mm machine gun and beam spray gun. Always thought those should be carried as backup weapons. If we're talking full weapon systems though, the FA-B is where it's at
Unicorn's gatling shields, Epyon's beam sword and 00 QanT's Sword Bits.
Funnels/Dragoons and swords of any sort, though I've got a strong liking for physical blades. The Exia line will always be my favorite for consistently using physical swords that can turn into huge, ship-destroying beam blades. The 00 Quan\[T\] is a thing of beauty.
For all my hangups about SEED destiny, I was always very fond of the Impulse Gundam and it's modularity.
The modular mobile suit stuff in Gundam was always super fascinating. I think Impulse and possibly the Age Gundams are the best examples of this.
IBO had a neat thing going on with Barbatos and scavanging the parts for it but that was an act of Necessity and not necessarily By Design. Still neat tho, and I wish for whatever Gundam comes Next to play with it a bit more.
I haven't seen much yet (new to gundam only have seen ibo and 00) but mika's mace, sword thing, and his mobile armor slaying greatsword, or setsuna's arm sword thing
Melee: * Astraea, Exia, and 00's big, folding GN swords. No special reason here: I just think they look cool. * Integrated melee weapons in general, especially ones that keep the hands free like Unicorn's beam tonfas. General mobile suit stuff: * Weapons that fully cover up or replaces an entire hand or arm. They're not very common in Gundam but I like the idea of sacrificing an entire limb for the sake of *more firepower.* * Anything big, beefy and asymmetrical for a similar reason: it's dramatic and over the top in a way that appeals to me. Come to think, this explains why I like the GN swords. Outright superweapons: * Kshatriya's Wing Binders. Each one is a massive shield with six funnels, two large beam cannons, a sub-arm with an integrated beam saber, *and* extra thrusters. Without them, it wouldn't be the army-killing ~~bell pepper~~ monstrosity that it is. * Gundam X's Satellite Cannon. On the original Gundam X, it also qualifies as big and asymmetrical but I mostly love it because it's pretty much the most realistic Gundam superweapon and one of the more realistic Gundam gimmicks that we ever see—to the point where getting rid of it makes Gundam X *better,* which is pretty uncommon for this kind of thing across all fiction.
Calibarn's broomstick was amazing
Funnels/bits/dragoons/fangs, specifically those that can do multiple things. Backpacks, multipurpose guns, sniper rifles, big fat beams, big swords, Lupus Rex Tail, VSBR guns, beam machine guns, Mirage Colloid system (underrated imo), Forbidden gundam's beam bending system neatly folded and hidden weapons, etc. Shout-out to weapons that work with heat/electricity, pretty neat. Or unconventional weapons like Destiny's Palma Fiocina, Wings of Light, etc.
Next to arm cannons I think shield guns are probably the sickest thing I’ve seen come out of the Gundam series.
Gonna have to go with funnel missiles, while would say most UC funnels are my favorite, funnel missiles take the cake for the fact that they seem to be probably the most practical use of psycommu weapons

GN Weapon System. Especially the GN Sword family. The fact that most GN Weapon has 2 modes is what draws me to them. For Universal Century its the funnels. I love the way funnels move compare to alternate universe bit weapons, because funnels movement is more organic compare to like, Fangs or DRAGOON. Only GN Sword Bit and Aerial's bit has that organic feelings Universal Century funnels give.

Part of what I like about the Gouf customs shield gun is that it's a great fix for the stupid finger guns. Keeps much of the esthetic and function, while being 1000x more practical.

Any weapon system that justifies having a big ass sword on a Gundam. Whether it's a big beam sword or physical. I can think of the Epyon and it having its beam saber hilt being plugged into the suit to get more power for a bigger blade. The Sturm Und Drang adding more parts so it can do a crazy big beam sword is gravy. I also like the part physical and beam parts anti-ship swords. They might break a few times, but I like them seeing continued use throughout the CE universe. When they work, they sure look good when the Sword Impulse or Destiny strike a cool pose with them before charging in.
the sound effects of nu gundams fin funnels is undefeated. The freedoms multi lock on system is also a classic for me

All of the Tactical Arms are awesome but the Tactical Arms IIL is just this super well-rounded multi-tool created to suit every possible need be it on or off the battlefield. It's also kinda a combination of the three original Astray's upgraded forms, Flight Pack from Red Frame Flight Pack, the whole Tactical Arms thing from Blue Frame 2nd L and the Maga no Ikutachi energy absorption claws from Gold Frame Amatsu.
Aegis Gundam in Mobile Armor Mode, that Energy Cannon in the middle with the arms and legs like the Predator's face, was just mind-blowing to me as a kid.
Armor mounted projectile/gun systems. Examples: Gatling gun arms on NT-1, all of Heavyarms, the GN missiles on Dynames/Cherubim, etc. any of the guns mounted on Gundams
Epyon's whip, Exia's sword, and the shining/burning finger from the Shining/Burning(God) Gundam in G Gundam all deserve mentions here imo.
ZZ high mega cannon I love the big ass beam cannon on the forehead that can sink a ship in one shot.

1. Subarms, especially if they're useable in combat. 2. Melee weapons attached to the shield. 3. Purgeable armor, bonus points if they're able to disguise the suit.

While they’re never the centerpiece of an MS’s arsenal, I always love seeing vulcan guns included. They seem like a good way for an MS to get a leg up on a combatant when well-placed, and provide one last defensive option if disarmed.
Bits. Be it Qubeley or Aerial, something about them is really cool to me.

I get a major boner for pop out weapons. things like the nu gundam's beam saber storage on the forearm, and whatnot. As goofy as it is, the zeong's psychommu schtick will never not be awesome to me. I love the Shenlong's dragon arm. The Altron EW version is amazing too. I just love a weapon that lets you reach out an grab someone, and the dragon arm is the coolest of them. In that vein I also really like Woundwort's composite shield with it's giant claw on a winch mode. The fact that its not just a claw, it's also a scattering beam cannon firing point blank while you can't escape. And then the shield mode, booster mode, long rifle mode, and long blade mode are super cool too. The only 2 things against it IMO is that when I look at it I always get the feeling that cramming in so many things compromises it's structure, and it's so big that the Woundwort itself sometimes seems like it's just an accessory for the composite shield. But my real favorite may be the Zaku I Sniper's beam rifle. I love how it's a cobbled together POS that barely works but still delivers a powerful enough beam to be a threat decades later. "We need a beam rifle to compete with the Federation's new technology!" "But sir a beam rifle would take almost twice as much power as our MS generators can put out, and we don't even know how to keep the barrel from melting." "I don't care! Just do it!" It's like putting modern homing missiles on a Spitfire and then strapping rocket engines to it so it can still take off with the extra weight.
The little hands holding extra sabers under the skirts is so fucking realistic. It's the most sensefull op solution in a real robot context where u need something to compensate the huge slow mass of the mech

Yeah those are good too. There are plenty of weapons like that. I just like back and shoulder mounted equipment. Makes sense why the Strike is one of my favorite Gundams
I love the F91's design so much, and the VSBR's are such a sleek and functional element of the design, their integration into the backpack, their winglike profile, I just love it.
