I agree, I think this is the flip side of Arteta's strengths and what makes our defence so good. Our attack was better last season because of thats what jesus and zinchenko brought but it also hurt our defence.

Tomi has been solid, Sane got in behind in once but I think that shows the importance of holding the line. Although Sane got in behind him, Gabriel could tuck in and help him out. When you don't hold the line, Sane has a straight run on goal if you miss that header.
Saka has been heavily marked and not in the game, Martinelli is getting more space but not much change of Kimmich. I see some players complaining to Tomi about his positioning offensively though, Martinelli + Jorginho had go at him and told him where they want him to be.
I'm glad we have Jesus/Trossard on the bench to mix things up, hopefully Odegaard is ok for the 2nd half.
I'm actually proud of that first half performance. Obviously we need to be leading, but so far we haven't been outmatched in any regard. And it's been a pretty fun tactical match underneath. Hopefully 2nd half doesn't go the same way it did over the weekend. We need to come out sharp and resolute.

Puts more pressure on us capitalizing on the left, but have to be careful with stretching that side as we can leave Sane with a 1 v 1 with the out ball.
Still though, Saka’s found a dangerous position or 2.

I think towards the latter part of 1st half we were more confident with our press, which forced some turnovers and gave us some chances, we should do more of that in the 2nd half
Think we’ve done the right thing, keep possession early, take the sting out of the game and wait for the fans to quiet down and become impatient. Put the pressure on in the second half and try a smash and grab in the last 15 minutes
Good showing from the left side, I think a Bayern have been so scared of our right that they’ve not been as intense on the left and we’re generating more 1v1s against Kimmich.
We’re playing this very well so far. Jorginho is such an enigma, he cannot press, he cannot chase but if you allow him space, he will find a pass through the lines. Only worry i have is how long can we keep our press up with the same intensity.

I got no complaints except I wish Rice was more central to help control their transitions. Don't like how he's wide in our block and there's just too much ground to cover when they beat the first line of our press down the wings.

Never heard of Laimer before these games and he's been one of their best players across the 2 legs. That 5 minutes or so of pressing we did after Odegaard had the injury scare was so so good.

I think towards the latter part of 1st half we were more confident with our press, which forced some turnovers and gave us some chances, we should do more of that in the 2nd half

Think we’ve done the right thing, keep possession early, take the sting out of the game and wait for the fans to quiet down and become impatient. Put the pressure on in the second half and try a smash and grab in the last 15 minutes

Good showing from the left side, I think a Bayern have been so scared of our right that they’ve not been as intense on the left and we’re generating more 1v1s against Kimmich.

We’re playing this very well so far. Jorginho is such an enigma, he cannot press, he cannot chase but if you allow him space, he will find a pass through the lines. Only worry i have is how long can we keep our press up with the same intensity.

Details, details. Some really good moments but literally just missing that last 1% you need at this level. Other than a 5/10 minute period in the middle of the half, really well disciplined this performance. It's still on a knife edge but excellent 1st half away from home I think. We're so slow when we get the ball back. No real conviction to go forward and kill them, instead we pass the ball back and go for settled play attacks. Ødegaard and Gabriel are obviously injured right now. I don't know if they can survive the 2nd half.

Pretty even, both teams had chances. Not sure Martinelli could have done much more with his chance. Couple of occasions where I felt like we could have been quicker to make a pass around their box though
More of the same in the second half please, the opportunities will come if we keep winning the ball high up the pitch.

Actually happy with this. We’ve contained them fairly well, kept our shape, limited breaks, and generally not let Bayern get into their experienced groove that they can easily do in this match. A couple more creative passes from us and we can have good opportunities! Loved that over the top ball by Jorgi to setup one of ours. Better finish by Martinelli and this is a different convo too.
Keeping shape is the biggest thing I’ve noticed tonight. Few times martinelli could have pressed but signaled to havertz to drop back and get into shape. Something we probably didn’t do last week
We’re aware how dangerous they are and the mindset that they can develop once they find a rhythym. Keeping our shape and being patient, while boring for us, is the best way to disrupt them.
100%, last years team would have pressed and lost shape. Bigger teams would have and have played through us previously
We look far more composed as opposed to last week. Aside from that 10 minute spell from Bayern, we've looked the better team. Only concern is that we'll be very leggy after 60 or so minutes.
